Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.
Until now you have not asked anything in my name;
ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.
“I have told you this in figures of speech.
The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures
but I will tell you clearly about the Father.
On that day you will ask in my name,
and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father for you.
For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me
and have come to believe that I came from God.
I came from the Father and have come into the world.
Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.” JN 16:23-28
We are still in the Last Supper account and today Jesus reminds us of something that seems backwards, suffering brings joy. When a person forgets this, they think comfort and luxury bring joy and they try to fill their yearning heart with material things. Jesus had to go through the Passion to get to the Resurrection. We, too, must suffer to be rewarded with joy.
Catholics don’t enjoy suffering, but Jesus gives purpose to suffering, it is a great avenue for grace. God’s grace restores what sin has damaged. Any pain or suffering we are going through can be offered up with Jesus’s suffering on the cross (don’t forget to do this while you are suffering) and receive grace. Jesus never promises to take away our suffering, but that He will be with us in it. Most importantly, this is the point of a vocation, our call to give our life up for another in priest, religious life, or mother and father. Our suffering is joyful and not a burden or work, when we are doing it for another called by God in our mission. Jesus Christ is the most joyful Man hanging on that cross. He just took on everyone’s sins and atoned for them and we have no way of paying Him back. This was His mission.
Peter Kreeft reminds us that the worst pain or suffering on earth will be like a cough due cold compared to the joy and glory of heaven. Our greatest witnesses (martyrs) willingly go to their death for Christ based on this very fact. What many North American Christians don’t realize is that there have been more martyrs in the 20th century than all other centuries combined.
This Is The Age of Martyrs
“In a recent article, Justin D. Long emphasized the startling fact that more people have died for their faith in the Twentieth Century than in all of the previous centuries combined. “During this century, we have documented cases in excess of 26 million martyrs. From AD 33 to 1900, we have documented 14 million martyrs.””

Amazing! God’s love is the most powerful thing in the world. Allow Him to give it to you!
Today’s challenge: Offer up all suffering with Christ’s suffering on the cross and receive grace which makes us holy and helps us grow closer to Jesus who knows what suffering is about which in turn helps us to enter eternal joy-heaven!
I can apply this to my life by praying to God about my vocation and his plan for me, I can also put my trust in him, and know that he has a plan for me.
In this passage we hear that we can offer up all of our pain and suffering for God’s grace. No one likes suffering but compared to heaven, it’s nothing. We should work on offering up our pain and suffering to God so that we can receive his grace and get closer to him.
We’ve got to realize that we can’t just be all, oh, if I’m rich, I’ll be happy, or all of that. What makes us happy (For the longest time, at least) is doing good deeds, and the more we suffer, the happier we’ll be in heaven.
Any suffering we are going through we need to give it up to God. When the suffering is over, we will have joy in God. God tells us that we can ask him and we shall receive, all we have to do is ask, but we remain stubborn and try to figure things out by ourselves.
This Gospel speaks to me personally because it shows me that sometimes it is good to let go. For an example, if a family member dies, we shouldn’t spend the rest of our lives mourning. They would also want us to have a good life being happy. Even they have passed, they are in a better place and watching over us. This is like Jesus to his disciples. He said that his time is coming to go with the Father. Although he is leaving, he will always be there with us because he loves us.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that we need to go through suffering to find eternal peace. The only way to Heaven and the only way to eternal life is to give it up for God.
I can apply this to my Life by praying to God and getting ready in this Novena before Pentecost
I believe that society is about to take a big change as a lot more people get into being comfy and living luxurious that it becomes a bad thing and a thing that society is against because “It makes other people jealous and we don’t want that in the world” would be their excuse for it. I think that as we grow softer as a society little things like this will impact the world more and more until society finally sees that there is nothing wrong with most of the things that society deems wrong.
This reading is talking about how Jesus is going to see his Father, and he will only talk about the Father. I can put this in my daily life by spreading the word of God and on that day that Jesus will leave I will say his name like he said in the Gospel.
In the Gospel, Jesus says, “I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.” Just like Jesus, our souls are from the father and are we born into this world and when we die we go back to the Father. It is still so crazy to me, even after learning about this religion my whole life, that someone that is God would come down and live among us. That just goes to show how much God truly loves us and wants us to be in heaven with Him.
I can apply this to my life by giving up all of my suffering, and grow closer to Christ.
Life is hard. We’re going to suffer. We’re going to have to bear our own crosses. God isn’t going to take that away, but instead we should go to him with them. Jesus will help us carry the burden if we let him, and after we do, we’re joyful. Even though we suffer, we’re joyful because we have a God who knows and loves us, and we can always depend on him. That joy is greater than any joy we might feel from material items.
God’s love is the most powerful thing in the world. We need to allow Him to give it to us. We need to offer up all suffering with Christ’s suffering on the cross and receive grace which makes us holy and helps us grow closer to Jesus who knows what suffering is about. This is what will help us get to heaven/ eternal joy.
Wait…There’s really that much martyrs in heaven!?! That’s amazing!!! I mean, not for the deaths, but for every person who made it to the unity with the trinity. Only God can keep track of how much people are in his kingdom… 😀
What ever we ask God through Jesus he will give it to us. Just like forgiving our sins and finding ways to help the troubles of losing a loved one.
Jesus took up the cross for our sins. He died for us, rose for us, and ascended for us. Whenever we’re suffering, we take on our own cross, just like Jesus did. We can offer up that pain to God.
Jesus love us and if we love him back we will be happy forever
One thing that I can take away from this passage, is to remember that when I suffer or when I rejoice, Jesus suffers and rejoices with me. This is a huge comfort to realize that the God of the universe has so much love for you that He will always be with you when you are sad, and He is filled with joy whenever you are filled with joy. To me, this is even more of a reminder to not sin because this God who loves you with all his heart and desires only to have a loving relationship with you, is who you are pushing away whenever you sin. When I realize this, I think, “How could I push away someone like that?”
God wants us to go to him for happiness and joy. We don’t need to find anyone or anything that keeps us entertained or to keep us full of joy. God loves us and wants whats the best for us. We need to go to the Lord to be happy.
Jesus suffered so we could make it to Heaven. We should never give up because all the suffering is worth it in the end. If we don’t suffer a little while we are alive we will never get to experience the joy of Heaven. No happiness or joy on Earth could ever compare to the happiness and joy in Heaven.
God will give us what we want if it is in His will for us. We have to ask God by talking to Him and having a relationship with Him. Suffering will help us appreciate the good things more.
The title says, “YOU WILL GRIEVE, BUT YOUR GRIEF WILL BECOME JOY.” Or take another one. In other words, you will suffer, but your suffering will become joy. If I ask any man or woman who look at suffering as a gift, they would tell me that a life full of suffering and pain is reward in heaven. We live in a society that is too comfortable. It is almost silly to sacrifice. But the secret of holiness is a secret because so few realize it. Suffering can be more valuable than anything else. The man that only wins his games doesn’t learn to lose.
God is telling us we will be hated and yelled at if we believe in him. But if we believe and love and spread the message of him our present will be Heaven.
What i can take away from this is that Jesus wants us to be happy, and if we realize that and ask through him, it will happen. Many people want things but don’t know who to ask for it. If you want peace and joy, ask Jesus and it will be done.
This Gospel is similar to the knock and the door will be opened gospel. We have everything we will ever need through God and Jesus. God will get us through whatever hardships we are going through, all we have to do is pray.
Comfort and luxury deosn’t bring joy. Pain and suffering brings joy. Jesus suffered so much pain for our sins so that we could have joy. But we still push him away constantly.
This is pretty important. Jesus is saying that whatever you ask of the Father, He will give to you, but, we have to think logically. I do not think He is speaking of material things. I believe He is talking about Grace and forgiveness from the Father. Think about it. Why would Jesus be telling us that God can give us material things to worship over Him? He wouldn’t. He would, however, forgive us of our sins and give us the grace to be stronger than our temptations to sin in the future. I think this is what Jesus means when he says “whatever you ask of the Father in my name he will give you.”
Jesus is saying that we must pray in his name to help ourselves comprehend even the tiniest bit of God’s vast love.
The suffering we endure will lead to joy. If you offer up any suffering you have, it will turn to joy. Nobody like suffering but if you know it will lead to joy, it makes it a little more bearable. The suffering on earth will be nothing compared to the joy of heaven.
Jesus died for our sins so we could go to heaven. God gave us his grace so we could live with him. Our suffering is with Jesus while he was on the cross and we usually forget that. If we are going through something we forget that Jesus is there with us and suffering on his cross. We must understand that Jesus gave us his life even though we will suffer and get hurt we will have heaven there when we die.
I can apply this Scripture to my life by praying to God and asking for forgiveness. The Scripture say “Ask and you shall receive.” If we just ask God for what we need and pray to him, we will receive and be complete.
Jesus is the way. But to get to Jesus, we must fight our way there. Through thick and thin, high and low, light and dark. And theres no way we will get through all that without the Lord. The Lord God gives and receives, let him give the strength to make it there. Ask and you shall receive.
God always does what is best for us. When we think that He has given us only pain and suffering, realize that He will bring joy into your life.
I can relate this to my life by trying more to focus On God rather than earthly thing. On the rope of life we are on the smallest fiber used to build this rope. and if that one fiber is messed up and focuses on itself, than it can cause the entire ( the eternity we call the afterlife) rope to be messed up and something we wouldn’t want. but if we take care and use that fiber for the entire rope, we can have a great strong rope (relationship with God).
I can apply this to my life by remembering that God is with me in every moment and part of my life. Even in the toughest of times he is still with us. God to me is like the sun, even when the sun is covered by clouds, it is still there even when you can’t see it.
In today’s Scripture, Jesus is reminding us to give. When we give, we receive joy. God is already wholeheartedly in love with us. We need to be in love with Him as well, and one way we can grow in our love is to “suffer”. Now suffering can be as easy as not having dessert after dinner, or taking 20 minutes of your free time to pray. We all can do this, and if you ever lose sight, remember Jesus committed the ultimate sacrifice of dying for us. If He can do that, then we can give too.
“The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures but I will tell you clearly about the Father.” Jesus has been teaching us about God in the entire New Testament. Whether it be through parables, or just up and telling us about him. One thing I find important when reading Scripture is always trying to connect it back to God.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that my sufferings can be offered up to God. When I suffer for God, my suffering will become joy. My grief is like the darkness. There will eventually be light, joy, in my life. If I offer my sufferings to God, His grace will restore the sins that damaged others. He is walking with me throughout my suffering, and in the end, I will become a better person and I will be in a better relationship with Christ.
This scripture is telling us to love Jesus. Since we love Him, God will love us. Even more than he already does. Which is more than we could ever imagine. When we suffer or are sad, it will bring us joy in the end. You can’t have Joy without suffering because if you didn’t have suffering you wouldn’t know what the relief of joy is like.
We have to suffer to have joy. Jesus said,”Whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete. We should ask God through suffering, and he will give us what we want.
In today’s Gospel Jesus says ” we will experience suffering on the day that he dies, but that suffering we experience should bring Joy”. He also says to that whatever we ask from the father we will receive. If we don’t ask the father for anything or pray to the father everyday for something how do we expect to receive anything back. Jesus is so powerful all it takes is just praying to him and something big could happen, but we can’t just do it once we have to pray to him everyday. He loves us so much so we need to love him so much back.
Todays scripture is telling us that Jesus will always Love us no matter how much we sin and we need to trust and Love him back to get back to Heaven and live forever with him.
None of us actually enjoy suffering, nobody does. However, Jesus gives us that purpose we need to suffer. We offer up our suffering for Jesus, he was nailed to a cross for us. The least we could do is offer up the little bad things in our lives.
In this scripture Jesus tells me that i have to trust him to get to God.
I can apply this to my daily life by praying for my vocation. We also must remember that God is always with us and every decision we make impacts our spiritual connection with him.
I can apply this to my life by praying to God and discerning my vocation. I can also accept what God wants me to do with my life weather it is being a nun, married, or just being single.
God will provide what you need. What you nee may not be what you want, but you should embrace the gifts of God with all the love in your heart.
If we trust in Christ we will have eternal happiness. God is love. He shows us how to love by sacrificing his life for us.
I can reflect on this scripture passage by asking God for anything that I need. And he also tells us that He comes through the Father and that he came to earth and is going back up to the Father.
I can offer up my suffering for God and be joyful about it. I will pray everyday to the Holy Spirit to ask for guidance so I can get to heaven.
In today’s scripture Jesus is telling us that if we need something we should ask him and it will be given.
I can apply this to my life by putting my trust in him and praying to him about my vocation because he knows the plan for my life.
In this scripture passage, Jesus tells us that experiencing loss and pain is a part of life, but in the end it will bring joy. I can apply this to my life by not complaining as much about suffering and to know that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
God will provide what you need. What you nee may not be what you want, but you should embrace the gifts of God with all the love in your heart
What this scripture is telling me is that whatever you ask, God will give it to you. You might think that he isn’t giving you anything, maybe more patience but you didn’t ask for patience , you asked for kindness. God gives you what you need to survive in this life, maybe you getting patience is one step closer to getting what you really asked for.
Today’s Gospel is telling us to offer up our pain and suffering to God. Sometimes our pain and suffering can feel like we can’t handle it anymore, and that’s true. We can’t handle our pain and suffering without God. God helps us get through those dark times and turn our suffering into joy. Only he can take darkness and turn it into light.
When Jesus gave his life for us on the cross, he freed all of us from sin and purified the souls of the sinners on Earth. We need to be able to let go of Earthly possessions and allow Jesus to take complete control of both our lives, and our faith.
We have to have suffering in our lives to get heaven, and right now they might seem bad but the joys of heaven are worth all of the suffering of the earth.
What i took away from today’s scripture is Jesus wants us to be happy, so we need to ask him for happiness.
“Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.” This gives me the idea and speaks to that we can ask of anything in Jesus’s name and God will give it to us even if the thing is to just talk to him and i believe he will listen. He also says ” we will experience suffering on the day that he dies, but that suffering we experience should bring Joy”. He wants and believes that after our suffering it will bring joy.
Jesus died for us because he loves us, but even if we love him, we aren’t even willing to give up a snack for Him on fridays. Jesus died because he loves us, we need to love him back, and find joy even when we are suffering, because you don’t just get joy immediately. Like if you get five dollars for your birthday and five dollars for doing chores, its more satisfying and you feel more joy, to get the five dollars from the chores because you worked for it and suffered for it. Jesus loves us and we need to love him.
In today’s scripture Jesus is telling us that if we need something we should ask him for it, and it will be given.
God is with us everyday. With us being sad or joyful. Our emotions matches his and he never wants to see us sad or suffer. He always wants us to be happy. Jesus suffered for us to go to heaven to be with him; happy and joyful.
In today’s scripture it is telling us that Our suffering and joy is through Jesus. Everything we experience is through him, so we should start praying to the father everyday and and he will bring us joy.
Jesus died for our sins just for Him to have a strong connection with us. We need to love Him back as much as we can.
In the beginig of the passage it starts off by telling us that as long as we ask God for in Jesus’ name we will recieve. But this doesn’t mean that we can just ask God for money or food, we can only ask God for healing and the grace we nedd to get to Heaven. God won’t give us material goods, he will give us something that is eternal, like the health of a family member, the joy you gain form that will be in your memery forever and help bring you closer to Heaven so that we can be with them and God forever in Heaven. And the passage goes on to tell us that we will be told about the father but that when we ask in Jesus’ name we have to ask as if we were speaking to God himself, because we are, God and Jesus are the same person in the trinity with the Holy Siprit. And at the end of the passage Jesus is telling us that he came from God and that he will be returning back to God and leaving earth to watch over us from Heaven.
I think it means with every bad thing that happens there will always be something good afterwards.
What i learned is Jesus wants us to be happy and love him and others.
This Gospel speaks to me personally because it shows me that sometimes it is good to let go. For an example, if a family member dies, we shouldn’t spend the rest of our lives mourning. They would also want us to have a good life being happy.
Jesus loves us so much but to have a true relationship we have to love him back. And once we start having a true relationship with him is when we will finally understand what he is saying to us.
God is telling us to pray to Him and have faith in Him. When we have faith in God we will grow a very close to God if we continue to pray to Him. If we pray to Him we can ask for many things to happen and helps grow our faith in Him. It goes around like a circle but it’s all to get closer to God and to be with Him in Heaven.
Jesus says to us today, “For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me…”. He’s telling us that if we love Him, we come to love the Father. He also reminds us that He is leaving to go to Heaven. Heaven is the place of perfect union with God, and Jesus wants US to go there with Him. US, the most unworthy of peoples to go up and join Him in the heavenly banquet, which is love and mercy itself.
I can relate this to my life because God has everybodies plan when they grow up and how we should trust him in everything we do
In today’s Gospel it tells us suffering will lead to joy. Like when Jesus died on the cross for us He was suffering, but He did it out of love and that love gave us a chance to join Him in Heaven and be in happiness for eternity.
This is why we put God rocks in our shoes and give stuff up on Fridays.
God is what we need and i feel i need to better acknowledge that he is with me. and every one all time .
God is telling us that he is with us no madder what if we are sad or happy. We will be judged because we believe in God and that he died for us but it doesn’t matter what they think because God is the way.
In this reading Jesus is saying that he was sent by God, and He must die to save us from sin and return to the Father. Jesus also say that because they love Jesus, God will love them.
This scripture is telling me that physical objects isn’t going to make me the happiest person for all time. For what really makes me happy is praying and doing good deeds.
What stood out to me was the name of the title, “You will grieve, but your grief will become joy.” What does this mean? Society teaches us to live a comfortable life, but this is completely wrong. Life will become difficult, but in the end it will become all worth it. Jesus teaches us this through the Passion, where he was brutally tortured and martyred on a cross. This was definitely no easy task, but by doing this He took on the whole world’s sin by doing this one action. We may be able to do the easiest thing, but what do we learn by doing that? We need to take a step out of our comfort zone and actually go do something. It is all worth it in the end.
“The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures.” I think Jesus is trying to tell us that we never know when our time will come and then later in the Gospel he says ask and you shall receive. I think Jesus is really trying to tell us that our time on this Earth is limited so we need to fulfill that time by praying, living out God’s word, and not being afraid and just live life to the fullest because our time is not guarenteed.
We have to suffer some to get to heaven and meet Jesus. If we want to meet the almighty God, then we need to let whatever God had in mind and suffer.God loves us so he wouldn’t do anything to hurt us, so if you are suffering right now God has a plan and will guide you through it. If we are stuck on somethings we can always turn to God and ask for his grace. We should trust in God and whatever he has in plan for us.
Today in the gospel, Jesus foreshadows the passion, death and resurrection of Christ. He says that he will leave and go back to the Father. Jesus wants us to listen to him through prayer so we can go see him in heaven someday. He wants us to be happy, but in order to do so, we have to take up our crosses each day.
This tells me that i can’t just do something because I want to get to heaven it tells me that I should just do good deeds on the daily instead of being forced to do them. Jesus died for us and even if we want to just go to heaven it takes time and you can’t have everything you want. We need to stop thinking that just because we have money and social media that we will be happy.
Jesus said we if we ask the father for something in Jesus’s name we will receive it. If we are ever stressed out or feel completely over whelmed then we can ask God for help. You can ask God for peace or less stress. Whatever you ask him for he will give you if you ask in Jesus name.
Often, we think that God “forgot” about us. That is simply not true. If you want to be with God, you must pray. He will not give us everything that we pray for, but our relationship with Him will get better. God might now more about you than yourself, but He wants you to be the one to tell Him about your problems and also about your happiness. Take time to thank Jesus for all that he has done for you! After all, he is the one who gave you Eternal Life!
Even though Jesus had left the earth, He is still here with us spiritually and guiding us in our actions. He is always right beside you even if you don’t recognize Him, and even when you are blinded by the devil’s temptations and sins.
In this scripture, Jesus is saying if we need something, just ask God through His name and we will recieve. We need to pray and build a relationship with Him to get what we have asked for.
I think that this reading is trying to show to us the great power and mercy of God. We do not deserve any of the things that he gives to us and often times we do not thank him for the gifts he gives us. Sometimes we do not even realize that he gives us gifts and we get disappointed when we ask God for a new bike and he doesn’t just make a bike pop out of thin air. If you were to learn anything from this reading it would be that you should pray for things that have real meaning to you and that you should not be discouraged in your relationship with God when you don’t have your wish granted.
I can apply this scripture to my life by asking God for spiritual gifts that I need more often. If I ask God then he will give to me. I can also offer up all of my pain and suffering on Earth for God because that is what Christ did.
this is telling us that we have to suffer to have joy in our life. The deciples had to suffer when Jesus died but when Jesus resurected they had a lot of joy.
I think He is saying that we always need to trust that He will show us the truth and the right path, but we have to trust in Him. It will also take time and patience to see the truth.
The reading is telling us how mighty and powerful God is and that if we need something from him, he will give it to him as long as we pray and are loving towards other.
Jesus is saying that God will fulfill your prayers if you believe in me. God is an immaculate being and can do anything but if you do not believe in him nothing will happen.
What I took from today’s Scripture was that you will wine and complain about a lot of things but one day all that complaining will become joy and happiness. What I can take from this is that I should stop asking for things I know that are not going to be there with me my whole life to make me happy.
It is saying that God will be there for us whenever an when we ask something He takes that into consideration, if it is best for us. I know that he want us to come to Him every moment we have the time to come to him I know that He is there always so it’s easy to be able to talk to him because he is always there.
I think the Gospel is trying to tell us that we need to suffer too to grow as people to get closer to Jesus. We need to realize that he has a plan for us and we need to suffer to meet Jesus. Our suffering is showing us how many things we take for granted and it helps us grow as people.
I can apply this to my life praying to jesus and talk to him for what he did for us at the cross
In this reading I got that Jesus wants us to offer up our pain and sufferings. We can’t handle our pain and suffering without God because He is the highest of all and He has the most power over anyone.
To get to the Father you have to go through Jesus. We may not know entirely what we get from the suffering but we have to have trust. The Scripture said, ” On that day you will ask in my name, and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father for you. ” We don’t know what that joy ever is but we know it will take time and it will be hard.
I think that through this Gospel passage, God is trying to tell me that when I suffer, Is should offer it up to Jesus. Jesus will help me through anything and everything. And that suffering is turned into happiness. We are called to do to the will of God, and He only wants joy, but the suffering is part of that joy. So, next time you want to blame God for you suffering, or for not helping you as soon as you ask for help, remember that God will turn that suffering into joy, peace, and happiness.
I think this saying that we should put our trust in God and no matter what hardships come our way we can rely on him.
Jesus is saying if we need something, just ask God through His name and we will receive. This does not mean if you ask to win the lottery or to be athletic that your wish will be granted. Jesus will give us what we need when we need it. Some things (like talents) he has given us we just haven’t discovered them. I heard a priest once say that God will never give you anything you can’t handle. This also goes hand in hand with “You can do all things through Christ”
I think this is saying that if you need something with Jesus, just ask him and he will try his best to give it to you. We have to believe in him and pray with him so we can receive it.
The Bible says: ‘Seek and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be open for you.’ and ‘Who among you would give a child a stone when they ask for bread, or a snake when they ask for cold water?’ If we go to the Father, not as a ‘slot machine’ (whatever that is), not because He said, but because we love Him, we will find. If we knock, He will answer. He is our true Father. We shall take up our cross and follow Him. ‘Blessed is He who has not seen, but still believes.’ He is are shepard, and we are His flock. ‘Many are called, but few are chosen.’
The disciples don’t realize that it is almost time for Jesus to meet the Father in Heaven. Jesus is leaving (temporarily) to heaven. He said the father loves them. Jesus would do anything so that our sins are washed away. He died for us on the cross so that we may be able to get to heaven too. We might be blinded by grief but suffering does bring joy, and our joy brings Him and others happiness. Grief and loss shouldn’t be weighed down on us so much. Yes, it may hurt to lose, but for all we know they will make it to heaven one day. On that one day they will be with the Father, watching how we flourish to be better people, and waiting until we reach heaven too.
Today, Jesus is telling us about joy. He tells us about how God loves us. We can’t imagine how much God loves us, because we haven’t ever experienced this kind of love before. Our parents can’t love as much as him. Our friends can’t love as much as him. Even, in the future, our spouse can’t love like God does. How are we ever supposed to understand if we haven’t experienced anything like it at all. We have to learn about his love. Opening the Bible. The Old Testament is all about how God loves us, even though we mess up again and again. King David, the chosen king of Israel, cheated on his wife, killed the woman who he cheated with’s husband, who was his greatest general, and his son had relations with his half sister. He was not a very good man, but God still blessed him. God knew what David would do, yet he chose to love him anyway. This is radical, what if your best friend betrayed you to the point that he ruined you. You would be devistated. You wouldn’t think you could ever forgive them. That is how God felt when this happened, yet he still chose to love David. His love is infinite, and he can’t ever stop loving. God is pure love, and we need to understand that. The more you sin, doesn’t mean the less he loves you. The whole New Testament is just how much God loves us. He sent his son, his offspring, to die for us. We are broken, useless compared to God, creatures. Yet he decided to come and save us because he loved us so much. God came down to our level, so that we could be raised to his level.
I can apply this to my life by praying for vocation and working on my own life and how i am this. Also shows that i God the HEavenly father is alway watching over us and this is forgivness that is what God wants us to know that he will forgive us always .
If you ask me, what this gospel is saying to me is that, We all need to be ready for Jesus to come. He left us to go back to the father and to forgive our sins, And so we need to be ready for when he comes back. All we have to do is ask him and God for favors, and they will repay us. “Ask and you shall receive.”
Jesus is telling us everything we need to know about the Father. He is telling them that he will die and go back to the right hand of the Father.
In today’s gospel Jesus is talking to His disciples. He is talking about His death and resurrection and what He will do after He dies. He speaks truth that He will go to the right hand of the father and that He came from the father and He is going back to the father after He dies.
I think what Jesus means in this passage is that whenever you are feeling sad or feel trouble, go to him and pray to him. He will give you a sign of happiness. If you ask, then you shall receive. Jesus said in his own words, and if he once said he will die and resurrect, and then he does. I think you’d be able to trust him after that.
There are so many things in this world that can distract us and take us away from God. Or we can become spoiled and think we don’t need Him. But when we suffer we know God better and what he went through. We know we can rely on Him and we are even more grateful for what Jesus did for us.
This Scripture reminds me that nothing lasts forever, good or bad. The sadness we might be going through will soon become happiness. We might not think our lives are great, but our lives are only temporary, so it’s OK for us to be sad. The only thing that matters is if we get to spend eternity in Heaven being happy after we die.
This scripture is saying that you need to suffer to be happy with Jesus even though it might be hard.
The important part of this today is when Jesus says, “I have come from the Father and have come into this world. Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.” It is when Jesus is telling the Disciples that He is going to die. They might not realize it at first, but after He is crucified they understand. Then He came back after the resurrection and they were absolutely positive that He is God.
Today the scripture is telling me that, like how the Apostles didn’t know when Jesus and even IF Jesus was going to return to Heaven, we have no CLUE when Jesus is going to come again. It could be any time, even right now. We always need to be prepared for when, WHEN, not IF (He already told us He would), He comes again. There’s this question that’s been on my mind for, oh I don’t know, a year: If I die today, will I go to Heaven? It’s a good self evaluation question, and it can apply to the Second Coming as well. If Jesus comes to Earth again today, will I go to Heaven with Him when he leaves? That question kind of exposes all of the things we’ve been hiding, ignoring, making them obvious. Today, the scripture is telling me to ask myself that question every day, every hour, even every minute.
I think this scripture is saying to talk to God more. Only miracles and good things happen if we talk, worship, sing, and adore God. We ask, and shall receive. Jesus is so powerful he can do anything. No matter how big or small it is that we ask for, he makes it happen eventually whether we believe it or not. He did everything he could for us, we need to take that in consideration and do the most we can for him in return.
I can apply this to my life because when you lie or do something like that God will always forgive you. Even if it is one of the worst things ever as long as you go to confession than God will accept your request and all of the sins you asked to be forgiven will be forgiven. People need God for everything including things like forgiveness. Every time I go to confession I ask God to save me and help me go to heaven.
In this passage of the Gospel, Jesus is giving them a warning that the hour is coming and that He is going to be dying shortly. But He says that people will be asking for His name. That has come true. Since Jesus has died for us, we believe that we have to do something in return since He literally died for us and gave up His life to save us from the fires of Hell. If He never died, would we be where we are right now? All of us should be so thankful that He was brave enough to do this for the people He loves which is us. He has loved us and we should love Him as well, forever. I’m thankful that I have a better chance going to the Holy Father and the Son of God in Heaven than I have with going down with Satan to Hell. Amen.
Today Jesus tells us to ask in His name. Up util then they did not ask through his name. The reason Jesus wants us to ask through his name if so that he can care for us. Jesus wants us to be happy and would do anything to make that happen. That is why He died on the cross for us, to make us happy. And today Jesus tells us that He will go back to the Father. And He did that for us!
We need to follow Jesus’s steps to meet him one day in heaven. We have to believe in Him and we will receive the grace of meeting Jesus in heaven.
In today’s gospel I feel like Jesus is preparing us for times in our life whenever we won’t be able to hear him, I can’t remember which saint it is but I do remember that their was was a time in their life where they didn’t feel like God was speaking to them for an entire year, and eventually when they began to despair, they saw a vision telling them to believe, even if it’s hard to hear him, and today Jesus is just telling us, well there is gonna be a time when you feel that I am remote and invisible , but you need to believe that I love you, and will guide you,” ask and you shall receive” “On that day you will ask in my name, and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father for you”
this seems almost contradictory, but he is really saying “if it makes will make you truly happy and stronger, that I will give it to you my child” If you do not hear him and still believe, you will be stronger in your faith for it.
Does anyone enjoy suffering? I know that I don’t. We all want suffering to just not be a thing anymore. Right? How that would be. But, Jesus gave there to be a purpose for that suffering. When we suffer, we give it up to God and receive His grace. We can offer it up our pains and sorrows, knowing that Jesus suffered worse and He accepted it. So too must we and give it up for His grace. God will never take away that suffering, but Jesus will suffer with you. He will be there for you and do it with welcoming arms and help you. The grace He gives restores the sin that caused Jesus to suffer, therefore getting rid of your burden of that sin. Helping you helps Him but that’s not what he’s thinking of. Suffering is joyful because when we do it for another, then we have a purpose.
Today’s Gospel is telling me that God will always be there with us and when we ever need to ask him something he will always eventually answer it. When we our praying God will always answer are prayers. God cares about us so much he will never let us down. God loves us and we should love him too.
