Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Today we have the three fold repentance of Peter. Jesus reminds us that we must repair each and every one of our sins. Whether here on earth (Eucharist, Confession, indulgences) or in purgatory. Each sin hurts our relationship with God. God never moves and always loves us. We move ourselves further from Him when we choose not to remain in His love. The great thing is that God’s mercy is infinite (never ends) and His love is more powerful than anything in the world. It is important for us to realize that Peter repented and Judas did not. God is merciful, but also just.
I find the hardest reality of sin is accepting myself as a sinner. Admitting that I cannot do this alone, I need a Savior. Allowing God and others to help me, and reminding myself that God loves me and created me, so I need to love and take care of myself. How can God (holy) love a sinner so much? I believe this struggle between sin and holiness causes many to fall away. It’s a daily battle that requires God’s grace, killing our ego, fighting Satan and facing sin for what it truly is and what it does to our relationships.
Who among us is repenting? We rationalize our sins and our faults, but sometimes people give up and stop going back to God. It’s hard to be vulnerable and trust. May we say a prayer for those who have fallen away. If you know someone, be a missionary and live your life in a way that others want to know your secret to happiness and joy. We can share the doctrine later.
Sin and Satan are the toughest battles we will ever face, but God’s grace and love are more powerful. Never stop coming back to God and repenting. He wants nothing more than to have our souls back with Him in heaven. As Jesus says to Peter, “Follow me.” Do whatever it takes to continue to seek the Truth and follow Jesus!
Today’s challenge: Jesus died for all humanity and every sin today, make yourself uncomfortable or poor in some area of your life today to remind you of this great sacrifice. Offer up this discomfort with Christ’s suffering.
Say the Stations of the Cross. These things are not just meant for Lent, but all throughout the year.
Go to confession and with God’s grace make choices in your life that will lead you away from sin and closer to Jesus. Amen.
Be a servant, be a saint today!
