Prayer Prompt before reading MT 25:31-46: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.

“AMEN, I SAY TO YOU, WHATEVER YOU DID FOR ONE OF THESE LEAST BROTHERS OF MINE, YOU DID FOR ME.” MT 25:31-46

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Today, Jesus teaches us that when we do something for the “least brothers of mine, you did for me.” Who are the least brothers? I was surprised when I read the side note that this is up for much debate among Scripture Scholars. Many believed it to be the suffering of Christian missionaries. This Scripture is pointed towards the Gentiles and Jews.

What can we take away from it? Jesus wants us to love through our actions, St. Francis says “when needed use words.” It is difficult to say that one act of love is greater than another, but when we give from our heart to the unlovable or when we do something simple for those in our homes, it is love.

Whether we do what St. Francis Xavier, patron of missions did, or St. Francis of Assisi who literally begged with the poor while taking care of them, or St. Therese of Liseux, who did little acts of love in a convent, it was the intention of their hearts to imitate Christ. We group and label people as the least among us, in God’s eyes we have equal dignity and we are all sinners who need His mercy. Are there different levels of need around us?

Yes, and through reason we know it takes a greater effort and mercy to reach those on the fringes of society who may be getting what we think they deserve. If no one is left to give them hope, they are hopeless. Jesus is the hope of the hopeless and asks us to give of ourselves in an even greater way.

As sinners, we cannot get what we deserve because Christ took our place. This is sacrificial love. When we imitate Christ, we too share this sacrificial love by taking care of those who do not deserve it. Christ is the King of the Universe, the most powerful, and what makes Him so powerful is sacrificial love. Amazing! Humble! Undeserving! Oh how I need this and yearn to give like Him.

Today’s challenge: Make yourself uncomfortable by sharing the Good News with someone or giving to those on the fringes of society. Don’t forget those in need right next to you! Love the unlovable

Be a servant, become a saint!

This is saying that we need to stop doing things for ourselves that do not help other people because if you do not then you will be neglecting God along with yourself.

“AMEN, I SAY TO YOU, WHATEVER YOU DID FOR ONE OF THESE LEAST BROTHERS OF MINE, YOU DID FOR ME.” MT 25:31-46. The reason why this stood out to me is because Jesus is saying that even if we do something very little and might seem much for someone else it is a lot for Jesus .

we dont think a smile in the hallway to someone or holding the dorr for someone will or could make someones day. think about it is the little things that cost nothing to give and receve are the things that make us happy. no dont know what someone is going through and a simple deed that cost nothing might make them happy.

“Jesus wants us to love through our actions”. This stood out too me because of how true it is, we cant only mentally love Jesus, We also must love him in physical ways such as going to mass, daily sacrificing, and even just taking prayer further by kneeling or going to a special place. Loving others who have less is a great imitation of Christ because that’s how he truly spent his life.

Today’s Gospel talks about how to serve Jesus. If we serve the hungry and sick then we will have eternal life with God. God put us on Earth to preach and fulfill his word. But if we don’t then we don’t get punished. We have to make sure to spread the Word of God because that is what we were put o this Earth for.

In today’s Gospel the lord is in His infinite splendor and is at the right hand of the father. The day has come when he will judge the right from the wrong and the good from the bad. And the people who served the poor and loved and cared for them went to heaven, but for those who did not love they did not care for the sick and the poor they were sent to hell.

“Then the righteous will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you, a stranger, and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’ And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’ ” This part of the Gospel honestly summarizes the entire gospel for me. Due to this part telling me, that God is in all of us, we should treat each other equally. Never look down among each other, and never think too highly of someone. Thinking highly of someone is good, for example, you could be in a game, you don’t want to underestimate your opponent, so you think highly of them. Don’t think highly of someone as in, they are my God. Because the only God we have is Jesus, our one true God. So if we are all equal try to treat others with respect, if you dont respect someone its like your disrespecting God in a spiritual way. Because God is in all of us.

In the Gospel today I think Jesus is saying that when you’re kind to one another and help one another, you will be accepted by God with love and care. But if you don’t God will still love you and care for you but he will not accept you into the Kingdom of Heaven. God looks for the good IN someone, not the person they act like on the outside. Like if someone is kind and sweet on the outside, but jealous and hateful on the inside or vice-versa, God will not accept you into Heaven. But if you are kind and caring on the inside and out, God will accept you into Heaven. Though God will accept you no matter what, accepting you into Heaven is the big deal. All you have to do is be kind to people, help those in need, and love with ALL your heart.

I think the phrase ¨We group and label people as the least among us, in God’s eyes we have equal dignity and we are all sinners who need His mercy.¨ Is a very purposful phrase because it tells us that their is no need to think of others as lessers to us but think of ourselves and how God sees of us. No matter how perfect anybody thinks they are we all have flaws, and not physically but within our soul.

What this shows is the sheep and goats which the goats gave no food gave no water gave no welcome and gave nothing and did not visit the imprisoned
for as the sheep did the exact opposite they fed the hungry they clothed the unclothed they visit the imprisoned.
What this means is the goats are not helping Jesus for if the goats don’t help the unfortunate you do not help God
    for what you do for
people is what you do for God

In today’s scripture reading, It really stuck out to me that one small action of kindness is from our heart when we really mean something to someone, even by doing something small, like a smile. We give love through our actions to others which can have a big impact on that person. I really loved how it said we cannot deserve what God gets because we are sinners. This is a sign of love, a sign of love from the Father Most High. We take care of others who don’t deserve what they are suffering with. Christ is the living God and the King of the universe and he is the most powerful of all in this entire world. Jesus teaches us to be more like him by caring for others and what makes Him so powerful is sacrificial love. God is amazing and humble. This scripture made me feel empowered by the spirit. Have a good rest of your day. God loves you so much!!! God Bless You!! ¡Viva Cristo Rey¡

Today’s gospel is telling how when judgement day comes everyone will meet in one place and Jesus will be able to distinguish the different nations from one another, then he will seperate the good and evil and he will thank the good for when he was hungry they gave food, when he was thirsty they gave drink. Then he will tell the evil, when he was naked he was given no clothes, when he was I’ll he was not taken care of. Jesus teaches that when the world ends, he will judge everyone based on how they treated people in need. He explains that helping the hungry, the lonely, or the sick is the exact same thing as helping him personally. The “sheep” are the people who showed kindness and get to stay with God, while the “goats” are those who ignored others and are sent away. The main point is that being a good person means taking action to care for “the least” among us.

The first reading for the Monday of the first week of Lent has a big message: “Be holy, because I, the LORD, your God, am holy.” During Lent, this Bible verse reminds us that being holy isn’t just a confusing idea or acting like you’re better than everyone else. Instead, it’s about how we act every day and showing God’s love in the way we treat people.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks about how we will be judged righteously on the day of judgement. When we choose to help others we choose to help God. When we choose to be greedy and treat others poorly God will separate us to the left of Him. Every person is made in the image of Jesus and therefore we should treat others as we would Jesus.

In today’s gospel Jesus talks about the corporal works of mercy. They are about helping clothes with their basic needs. When you read this you think about all your gadgets and you think about people who just need these simple things. I think this Gospel lines up with the commandment to love your neighbor as yourself. How can you love them when you bought a new video game console but can’t spare a dollar for a charity, church, or any organizations that give clothes, food, etc.

In the Gospel today when the son of God judges the nations and separates the sheep from the goats and says “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.” And he says this to both the sheep and the goats and they have a similar response of” when did we do these things?”. Jesus responds he says when you helped others you were helping me. I find it very interesting that he says the same thing to both the sheep and the goats and they were both clueless but in a different way.

Whenever we see somone homless and tell them to get a job we are doing that to God. We must always treat everyone like they are worth taking care of because we do that to God but we should also do this because they are worth it.

I think the Gospel today is telling me that us humans deserve the weight of sin, hatred and violence, but to Jesus, that doesn’t matter. To me I don’t think he cares that was deserve pain. I think that he wont accept his perfect creation falling into sin’s hands. Basically what I’m trying to say is that he cares too much for us to let us suffer. And if he can prevent it there’s no way he’s just gonna let us suffer for eternity.

Jesus says to love your enemy, love the ones who hurt you. Today Jesus talks about how when the time comes the people who helped and severed Him and others. Who cared for the sick and the lonely. The people who went to confession who listened to His laws. They will then go and spend eternity with Him in heaven. With the angels and saints. While the people who disobeyed Him. The ones who didn’t care for the sick and lonely. The self obsessed, the pride and egos will then suffer. They ones who don´t listen to the Lord and His laws will not spend forever with Him. This teaches us how to act and treat others. So, that one day we may spend forever with Him in the Kingdom of Heaven. He loves all of us especially the unlovable. The druggies, homeless, thieves, horrible people. But, God love is so great that He loves them too and He wants us to help them feel love in life. So, that they may change their way of life or why they are the way they are.

I think the gospel is spreading the message that we were made to love. Our love might not be as strong as God’s but what really matters is that we share with people. Every person was made in the image of God so who are we to judge one another. Every time we are faced with ridicule we shouldn’t give it back, but rather give love and kindness. The only one who can and should judge God’s creation is God himself.

I this Scripture I think Jesus is telling me that, we need to love other people more. Like if we see someone on the side of the street think about what they have to go through. Then think about how much God loves them. Once you realize that you should see that you also love that person even if they have never done anything for you. You could tell them or you could say a quiet prayer in your head for them and maybe add them to your eternal intentions. Think about how much God loves that person and everyone around you, if you realize you should try to do the same by helping them or just praying for them.

Today’s Gospel talks about the Judgement of the Nations, when Jesus tells the Apostles that one day God will come to judge those who did what was right and what was wrong, and some will go to Heaven and some to Hell. He is telling us that when we do something nice for somebody we are doing something nice for God, and when we refuse to help someone, we are refusing to help God.

This Scripture is calling us to be more grateful because we cant pay for our sins because God had died on the cross for us. We should give thanks to him for what he has done for us sinners. He would leave the 99 for us, the lost sheep. He is the hope in a world of hopelessness. We should all follow and worship him. We should not just believe, but listen to him.

The message I got from this Gospel is that we should help people when we see them struggling or in pain, especially those who may not have a family or a loved one, are homeless, or are poor. During the season of Lent, one of the three main things you do is give. When we give our things to/for others, whether it be money, or belongings, or our time in a sense to do good, not only do we help them, but glorify God, as God is within them. It’s simple, but extremely rewarding, as you get a sense of joy and happiness when you give something to the less fortunate, as you will have something even better.

In today’s Gospel God is telling us to help others. The way we treat others is the way we’ll treat God. We should offer help to the ones who need it especially people who are really struggling. A simple act of kindness like smiling or opening doors for people make a difference.

Today’s gospel tells us to treat everyone with respect. We should always help those in need and people should do the same as for us. We should treat everyone as we would treat Jesus if he was in the same situation because everything you do to others is what you do to him. This will help us have eternal life and salvation in heaven with God.

I believe that what God is trying to say in this is in plain sight, and you can see this in the 10 commandments, it is to love your neighbor. We are told that caring for the lowest amount you is caring for Jesus. Everyone really needs to stop being selfish and realize the person beside you has real feelings, if you wouldn’t do it to Jesus don’t do that to them

Something that stuck with me when I read this is that “What you do to the least of my brothers you do unto me” the reason I believe this stuck with me when I read this is that usually whenever we walk around and see homeless people in the street and they ask for food or money we ignore them or don’t give them it. The Lord asks us to feed the homeless and not ignore them, recognize they are people too and they are like you and me and they need more help than others do. Also like least of brothers to me would be like people who are disabled or have learning disabillities who need help with things. I think the Lord is asking me to help others and make them feel needed especially the people whom need it most.

In the Gospel theirs a very powerful message. Jesus talks about when the time comes God will judge us. People who cared for others have eternal life with God, and those who did not care for him go into eternal punishement. In our lives we get caught up with all other things such as news, friends and drama, and so much more, If we focus on God then we will make heaven crowded.

“Whatever you do to the least of these brothers of mine, you do unto me.” This is a great philosophy to live by. If you think of what you do to people every day as what you do to Jesus you’ll realize what you’re really doing. I think it is a good way to avoid temptations, and it is what we will be judged by as seen in the gospel for the judgement of nations. They are the corporal works of mercy. We should show mercy to everyone in our lives because everyone of us is a sinner who is in need of mercy.

What I got out of the Gospel today is that everything happens for a reason and that not everything can go our way exactly how we want it all the time and that’s okay and that’s apart of life. But when we go through struggles like that we cannot push everyone out of our lives and take the sorrow alone but in those moments we find sadness we need to try to find the positiveness and use that moment to try to become closer with God.

Today Jesus is telling me to be a sheep and follow the Lord as a sheep with his shepherd. We have to treat everyone with respect and kindness to become that sheep. God is hungry for us and we have to fulfill his word to give him food, drink, clothing, or a visit at prison or in sickness. We have the choice to choose from the sheep or the goat and have to bring God into our lives to be the sheep.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples about the Final Judgement. He tells us about how He will separate them one from another, like a shepherd does with his goats and his sheep. He puts some people on His right, and the others go on His left. He then tells the ones on the right, they helped the Son of God. But they will ask when they helped Him. He replies by saying that whatever you did to my brothers, you did to me. He then tells the ones on his left, you didn’t help me. They tell Him that they didn’t see the Son of God hungry/thirsty. He says to them that whatever they didn’t do to their brothers, they didn’t do to Him.

I personally think the Gospel, while it is talking about brothers and sisters in a metaphoric way, I think it could also be taken literally. I think this because I feel like the people we overlook the most are our siblings, I know my siblings and I are all a lot ruder to each other then we are to other people just because we have a method of saying or doing something to offend the others then the offended can insult back until we forget why we are even insulting each other. However, it’s not okay or good to insult each other or to overlook each other. Just the other day I was bored and went to go let my sisters dog out while she was working and I saw that my older siblings bathroom was a mess so I went and deep cleaned it as well as fix the towel holder and the vent, when they saw me next because they were both working or at a wrestling meet, they were appreciative because I understood that they couldn’t just ‘get it clean’ with their schedule. I chose to not overlook them and they reciprocated my behavior with kindness as God reciprocated the good with Heaven and the damned and wicked with hell.

Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

I was thirsty and you gave me drink,
a stranger and you welcomed me,
    naked and you clothed me,
ill and you cared for me,

Then the righteous will answer him and say,
‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,
or thirsty and give you drink?
When did we see you a stranger and welcome you,
    or naked and clothe you?
When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’
And the king will say to them in reply,
‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did
for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”. Whenever you hurt somebodys feelings, you are hurting God too.

We must follow what Jesus says. clothe the naked feed the hungry give drink to the thirsty. even if it is someone we have never met before in our life or some one who was mean to us we must not hold grudges and we must care for them like we would our friends. we must treat them as if they are Jesus because in the end we are all children of God.

The goat are the people that are mean they will go to hell. What I took from this is that we need to do the right thing no matter how hard it it because we strive to be in God’s Right Hand.

This Gospel spoke to me saying that God truly is the God of all holiness. That He rules the universe with divine and unquenchable fire of love. He wants us to have a intenser relationship with him because He loves us and cares for each and every one of use. No matter our color, shape, or size. He loves us dearly and will never stop no matter how many times we sin. We don’t deserve His love or forgiveness. He literally sacrificed His one and only son, the unblemished lamb to save us and humanity. And all He wants in return, is an hour of our time each week. Is that so hard of a commitment to fulfill?

In The Gospel today what I thought about was that we need to treat everyone equally just because you treat some people right dose not mean we helped everyone we just helped the people we liked more or were friends with. So even if you think you helped people you did not help the people that needed help the most. so thats why we need to learn to be nice caring and helpful to everyone we see or if they need help

today in the gospel i feel its telling us to take care of each other but not to act as someone of higher status to those beneath you. Like St.Francis Xavier who was taking care of the poor with his own money and still even though he was at a higher political status he begged with them. He humiliated himself with the poor even though he could take care of himself. Not for money but for humility, he probably did this to remind himself that still everything is for God and he would want us to be kind have humility and love others. Jesus says “the least of..” not to say people are less but to help our corrupt minds to understand. Jesus thinks of all of us as equal and beautiful before him, it is us who think of others as less that ourselves and higher than ourselves. Jesus calls each and every one of us to take care of one another but especially the ones who cannot take care of themselves.

Todays gospel talks about the way that we will be judged at the end of our lives, and specifically why we are sent to Jesus’ Father’s house where he has prepared a place for us, or be cast into the fiery gahenna, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. If we do not stay close to the Sacraments and perform the spiritual and corporal works of mercy (of which I am guilty), we will receive fair justice for our actions.

this is something that really stuck out to me! even though you can be having the worst day of your life, maybe you made someones better, and that is what St.Francis did he took care of the poor but he was also with them, as if saying we can take care of each other and the sick etc and still be like them. At-least say hi to someone even if there having a bad day. You can also do little acts of love like St. Therese did, you can help someone out, pray for even 5 minutes for someone, give someone some money, etc. Just these little things can help out other people and even you.

We need to not judge a person based on what we see on the outside. It’s about what we see on the inside. If we do a little gesture every day, we could be making someone’s day a little bit better. We need to strive to be more like Christ!
