Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue.
They were astonished and said,
“Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds?
Is he not the carpenter’s son?
Is not his mother named Mary
and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?
Are not his sisters all with us?
Where did this man get all this?”
And they took offense at him.
But Jesus said to them,
“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place
and in his own house.”
And he did not work many mighty deeds there
because of their lack of faith. MT 13:54-58

Today, Jesus teaches us a valuable lesson on not overlooking those closest to you. He also teaches us not to judge others based on who their parents are and where they came from. Sometimes my eyes are so fixed on work, my goals, a to do list, I forget that the most important thing is to be a good dad and husband. Jesus is staring me in the face in my wife and kids. Of course, today’s Gospel is talking about prophets not being accepted in their hometown, but I think this can be applied to our daily life. As a young person, we are so busy playing video games or on our phones we miss so many opportunities that God lies before us to help around the house and be involved with your parents and siblings. We are called to serve, not self-indulge. We are called to serve, not finish a to do list. Time is a precious gift from God, don’t waste it all on comfort and entertainment. There are so many people right now next to you that need someone to talk to, eat supper with, talk about the way things were, pass on life lessons, pray together, or work together as a team to do dishes or complete a project around the house that will give you a feeling of accomplishment different than conquering a level on a video game. ”And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.” MT 13:58 God can’t work through us if we are only working for ourselves and lack faith. ”Indifference toward religion, coupled with a love for material comfort, seem to be common signs of our times.” Franciscan Media, https://www.franciscanmedia.org/saint-john-vianney/
What are we doing to change it? Jesus desires so much more for us, He wants to work many might deeds through you!
St. John Vianney, pray for us!

Today’s challenge: An interesting paradox today; slow down and take time to smell the roses (spend time with those God put around you and spend time with God Himself-be Mary not Martha today) and get off the couch and serve those God put in your life (be Martha in a good sense and not Mary).

Be a servant, become a saint!
