Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus said to the people in the synagogue at Nazareth:
“Amen, I say to you,
no prophet is accepted in his own native place.Indeed, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel
in the days of Elijah
when the sky was closed for three and a half years
and a severe famine spread over the entire land.
It was to none of these that Elijah was sent,
but only to a widow in Zarephath in the land of Sidon.
Again, there were many lepers in Israel
during the time of Elisha the prophet;
yet not one of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.”
When the people in the synagogue heard this,
they were all filled with fury.
They rose up, drove him out of the town,
and led him to the brow of the hill
on which their town had been built,
to hurl him down headlong.
But he passed through the midst of them and went away. LK 4:24-30
Have you ever felt unaccepted somewhere? Sadly, this happens in our homes, schools, parishes, and communities. Imagine if you were a prophet or the Son of God and you were not accepted in the place you were raised. Jesus had the power to heal, raise people from the dead, He is Word made Flesh to tell everyone about salvation and eternal life. He died on a cross for these people. Yet they did not accept Him. Why? The same reason we do not accept Him.
He still has the power to heal today through priests, He is present in all of our tabernacles, with those in prayer, and His Word is always living and effective. He is with you and I now. Why don’t we accept Him? I don’t know about you but when I am really honest with myself and I listen to my heart, I’m afraid. Afraid to change maybe, but I want to. I want to get closer to Jesus, too. But, I am most afraid of dying to myself, losing control, being vulnerable and giving my life completely to God. I am afraid that it will be a harder life. God will test me more or the devil will tempt me more because I am trying to give myself completely to God.
I know you have many other reasons, too. Today, let us be courageous men and woman, truly die to self and allow God to be in control. Jesus tells us in the Scriptures hundreds of times, “Be not afraid”. What is the worst that could happen? Eternal life with God, it is worth it!
Today’s challenge: Die to self totally and completely. Let Jesus love you.
Be a servant, become a saint! #Chrisian YOLO
¨ Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.¨
when is saw this i thought back to Fr Jarrod’s story of becoming a priest. by the time he was born god had a plan for him. he started to execute that plan by the time he was in third grade. this goes to show there is a time and place for your future to and it is coming soon if not already. Gods will be done.
I think this is saying that, even if it feels bad that nobody wants to speak to you, or you feel lonely, unwanted, etc, God is gonna be there for you and with you whenever you need him to be there.
Even though we may fell unaccepted or unappreciated, God is always there
In todays gospel God is telling me that we cant just spread the word to the people that are close to us. Of course that id great to but God wants us to spread the word throughout the world. Everywhere you go, God wants you to preach. Once we start doing that, we will begin to starts getting closer to God and Heaven.
The scripture did not always please or make the people of Jerusalem happy. Most of the time when God was being discussed with citizens they would get furious and be angry that they were getting asked these “dumb questions” or something they didn’t believe in.
“Amen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place” It is hard to believe that someone is a prophet or sent by God if you knew them before they began preaching. You remember playing with them outside, seeing them do chores, doing nothing out of the ordinary. It would be hard for the prophet to be turned away by his only friends and family.
I think the scripture is saying a person who spreads the word of God won’t be accepted by most people. When the disciples were out preaching after Jesus died they were not accepted by almost anyone and even before Jesus died it was the same. If we want to truly spread the word of God we need to preach it to the people who do not accept it so we can convert them because if we are just preaching to our own people then were not gaining new followers of Christ.
the scripture is saying that when you are cast out from your house you will always have a place with God. He will show you shelter and kindness when you have seen non. he will love you no matter what you do. God will always be there for you until the end of time.
The scripture today is telling me that some people don’t want to be saved. They have that instinct to seek happiness, but they look for it in the wrong things and refuse to look for it in God. With some people, you can do all of the evangelizing you want, but they won’t listen. They don’t want to. So normally I just let them do what they want and focus on my spiritual life. We need to pay more attention to others. We can’t just give up when our preaching of the Gospel doesn’t work. For the stubborn person’s sake, we need to keep trying to bring them back to the faith.
When you feel unaccepted, remember that its not just you. There are other people that feel the same way. Jesus even said that prophets from their hometown didn’t even feel accepted. Jesus must have felt the same way. Remember, you are not alone.
We need to have hope in Jesus even when we may be sad or without hope. In the Scripture, the people had a famine for 3 years and were not hopeful in Jesus. We need to be the opposite of this and when we are without hope, we need to pray and realize God is with us.
In today’s gospel, Jesus tells us that “no prophet is accepted in his own native place.” I need to learn to accept people for who they are and welcome people to be my friend. I need to practice not leaving people out and looking for people who are lonely.
Jesus Is trying to tell us in this gospel about how we will be rejected by our culture, and uses example from the old Prophets. But no matter how much we are rejected, we need to continue on. Jesus said these things in Nazareth, his native place, as yet another example to us. We should not be afraid of rejection. We should assume that it will happen, and move on.
If we can be accepted in this world, how can we be accepted in the next? Or if we can be accepted in the next world, how can we be accepted in this one? People here mock us Catholics and any sign of one is seen as an outcast. If we cannot accept this, than how can we be called Catholics. For many are called, but few are chosen.
I think this scripture is saying that if you ever feel lonely or sad that God is by your side. We all know the differences between right and wrong it just depends on if we chose to do the right things. Choosing Gods side is always gonna be the right.
What I learned off of this gospel is that we should accept God and we should not deny him in any way. He is always there for us and we need to accept him into our lives. He is not going to force us, we have to go to him in order for him to come into our life. WE have to chase God and we have to take in the grace that he offers to us. WE need to acknowledge that he is there and he is willing to give up his life for us again.
A lot of times, we feel disrespected and unnoticed and that can really hurt us in the long run. If we know how it hurts us, then we need to pay more attention to others around us because they yearn to be noticed too. Like a lot people say, what goes around comes around. If we spread goodness to others it will eventually come back to us. We need to be like Christ as much as we can.
What reached out to me was, “they were all filled with fury”. What this means to me is that we need to get in control of our anger. Our anger can lead us to do bad things that we’d otherwise never do.
It shows how everyone can feel left out or different than others, and it shows that we will do bad things or follow others that aren’t good for us just so we fit in, even though we are never alone Jesus is always with us you just forget or think he doesn’t love you, which is NOT true.
Jesus has the power to do many things.
I think Jesus is saying that if we disagree on something and they don’t think you’re right they will want you out. If you ever disagree with your siblings they would want you to get away from them. If you disagree with a friend they would want you out of their house.
It tells us that Jesus will help any of us in need. He will listen to your prayers and help you in hard times.
Even during such a rough time, the one that was sent by Elijah only healed Naaman. I find this confusing, but I understand it in a way. I’m not too sure, but if the prophet is doing God’s will, then I have no need to interfere.
In today’s scripture “Amen, I say to you,no prophet is accepted in his own native place.” Stuck out to me. In today’s world we think we have to fit in to be accepted in the world/Gods image. But we don’t and then we feel alone even though we tried hard for others when we should all only be impressing God.
This scripture is like telling us that we should judge others like that widows because it like they thought these people think that thye have some type of power ish in them so they think they can do what they want to do it just like bulling someone and Jesus is like sad because i died for these people yet they are like not treating each other how he wanted them to be treated and it also it just like Jesus and it is because he was also hated by a lot of people
Jesus talks about how even though Elijah helped people he was not excepted in with his people because he didn’t heal everyone even though he did good for them they still thought he could do more good so they threw him out
It’s ironic how he says “No prophet is excepted in his own native place”. Then at the end this is proven correct because after he finishes his sermon he was driven away by his own native place.
Today the Scripture is saying that when we are not accepted to where we are going, we need to remember for what Jesus did and that He did everything for us and He will be with us and Jesus did not get accepted by the people
Jesus is a healer and a prophet. He has saved all of our lives. Yet, we do not accept Him. We don’t accept Him because we are afraid. Afraid to change your life, afraid of giving up your life. Afraid of not being in control. Afraid of letting go.
I think this Gospel tells us that we are not accepted everywhere because of our faith. it says, “no prophet is accepted in his own native place.” We should be do our best to still spread the Gospel.
Are we afraid to let people in our groups that love God? Are we afraid we are not as powerful because we do not love God? We should not be afraid God is life so why wait.
This scripture is saying we need to get closer to God during lent.
This means that whenever you do not get a lot of attention you start to feel a little sad you start to ask a question like, “Can I get some attention”? you don’t get any and you start to get angry. That is kind of how I feel sometimes because my parents pay more attention to my sister and not me most of the time.
I think that this scripture is telling us to accept Jesus into our hearts, the people in the synagogue didn’t. I think that we often get into peer pressure, and don’t accept Jesus into our hearts because we think that people will think we are weird if we believe in Jesus, but we have to realize that we don’t have to impress anyone just Jesus.
Jesus Is trying to tell us in this gospel about how we will be rejected by our culture, and uses example from the old Prophets. But no matter how much we are rejected, we need to continue on
I think Jesus is trying to say everyone is important. Even if you are a terrible person you are still God’s child. He will never abandon you and will be there for you whenever you need Him.
I’m not accepted by a lot of people. I have lots a friends who accept me and can relate to me, but my parents don’t accept certain parts of me, lots of people go against me for who I am. I have been told that I’m a liar and that my feelings are not valid. All the rejection has led to me to think suicidal thoughts. However, if those people don’t want to accept me, then I will simply cut them out of my life. The only people I need in my life are the ones that love and accept me back I as do to them.
I think this scripture is telling us that even if we feel lonely or unwanted in this world, God will always love us and will always be there for us. We were put on this Earth for a purpose, nobody was made for nothing. Even in our darkest times God will be there for you, you just have to except him in.
This Scripture passage is telling me that even though we may not be accepted everywhere for our faith, we will always have God. God is infinite, timeless, he never goes away. Though people may make fun of us or call us crazy, God will always be there to offer a refuge to us.
I think today’s scripture passage is trying to tell us that we will not always be accepted and get what we want. We sometimes compare ourselves to others and feel like we need to be perfect and fit in to be accepted.
“no prophet is accepted in his own native place.” this stood out to me because of our faith and looks we are not accepted into some places. Just because we are not welcome because of our faith does not mean we should stop. we should be faithful and be missionaries
what the scripture is telling me is that we must spread the word all around the world and ot just people close to us. even if we arent accepted by tw people that dont want anything with us.
When we feel unaccepted by people whether it is because of our religion and we are spreading the Gospel or something else, God will always be there. Just like the people, that didn’t like Jesus, people will not like you but you are never alone when you believe because you have God.
in my opinion I think that this is telling us that not everyone will enter heaven. some people will be turned away from the gates of heaven. To get to heaven we need to obey the 10 commandments, we need to have a relation ship with God. If we don’t God will turn us away.
I think this scripture is saying that God is always with us. When we are in sadness He will be there for us. When we are mad He will make us happy. When we are hurt He will cure us.
We should not turn others away. It doesn’t matter if they are different. It doesn’t matter if they can’t do the things we can do. People have their own individual gifts. It’s our choice to see their gifts. To look at how amazing they are.
We will not always be excepted, we will be pursecited there will be people who don’t like us for our faith. But God will help us stay strong and help us along the way. He loves us, he loves us unconditionally.
This is what stood out to me, “No prophet is accepted in his own native place.” It stood out to me because we are accepted by God and we may not be accepted by others but we are accepted by God. God is here to heal us not bring us down. He is kind and generous and would never hurt us and He always forgives us.
We can feel left out or not accepted, but God loves us. He gives us life and His only Son Jesus. He will never stop loving us. We are welcomed in our faith.
What I’m getting from this is that you have to let God in your life. You are nothing without him. We should start to get closer to Him and listen to what He is trying to tell you.
I think this scripture says that Jesus told the truth but they still did not believe him and kicked him out. We should have always trusted in god/jesus.
The scripture is telling me that we are never alone and God is always with us. We should never feel lonely or sad because you need to know that God is right there with you. God will do anything for us but we have to do what is right.
God is telling us that we need to accept people for who they are and not for what they do. We need to be mindful of people and get to know them before we judge them. It isn’t on the outside of a person that we know it is the inside so if we just look at someone and we don’t like there appearance we should get to know them first.
In today’s gospel Jesus wasn’t excepted in his home town, I think the rule that “people fear what they do not know” also applies to what people do know, because when you are so used to something, and it changes, it’s kind of scary, the the people of Jesus’s home town, they knew Jesus as an ordinary man, just another person they would walk by on their way to the well, or to go see for any carpentry work, they could not believe someone they knew was not as they new them, so they feared him and grew angry, and tried to kill what they did not know.
This scripture tells us to not judge anyone and to really not judge at all. You never know what they are going through and how their situation may be different between yours. And if you are not feeling accepted by the public, always know that God is by your side and is with you though every step you take and will be there to guide you.
People feel unaccepted or like outsiders everywhere. In homes, schools, and places. Even among our friends. Is that how Jesus would feel if He were to enter your home? Would you accept Him? What about His prophets and apostles? They want to be accepted into our lives so that they can guide us to holiness and eternal life. Jesus did amazing, wonderful things and was still not accepted in the places. But we can accept Him. He is always with us no matter what. It’s up to us to make Him feel welcome.
Today’s Gospel shows us people who did not believe in Jesus. Not everyone you meet will believe in Him. That is why we need to respect other people and try to evangelize. You can’t control what other people believe, but you can lead them to the truth.
What this scripture reflection says to me is that we need to learn to accept one another. Because if we don’t, then we won’t be accepted into heaven. Because if we don’t make it into heaven, then we all will be burning in hell for ever.
We don’t know Jesus’s plan and will never get the full understanding of it. Even the smartest professors and theologians don’t know everything. The one thing they all have in common is the fact that they all know what they are doing is right. St. Thomas Aquinas, who wrote the Summa Theologica, was incredibly smart, but does not know the exact plan and understanding that the Lord has. But he trusted the Lord and his writings. The devil will try to tempt us saying that we don’t have enough proof, or faith, but we know that he is wrong because of the numerous saints, faith, and miracles of the past. We have to follow their example by learning about them and practicing our faith.
Today, Jesus is telling us about how none of them will be accepted in their native land. How they will be persecuted and not accepted where they should be the most accepted. How many times have we wanted to give up our faith because it caused us to be outcasted, driving away people who we think are cool and want to be friends with. I know I have been, and i’ve wanted to throw away my faith, throw away God, just so I can be around these people who will lead me down the wrong path in life. Whenever we want to do that, think about Elijah and Elisha, how they were outcasted, and how they didn’t throw away their faith
Jesus was persecuted and not afraid. He new that he would be persecuted for what he would say because he is part God and he knows everything. He still said it anyways because he knew that God would protect him. If we are ever afraid to evangelize do not be because God will protect you.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is telling me that we shouldn’t just spread His word to, for example, our friends. No, He wants us to spread His name and word throughout the public. Not only would we feel better about ourselves, but others may convert and believe in Him and be filled with joy.
I think this scripture is saying that we need to accept everyone. Also how in society you have to act a certain or say certain things just for people to like you. Jesus made us all in his own image and no one is greater than any other person
In today’s gospel God is telling me that we cant just spread the word to the people that are close to us. Of course that id great to but God wants us to spread the word throughout the world. Everywhere you go, God wants you to preach. Once we start doing that, we will begin to starts getting closer to God and Heaven.
Jesus healed all kinds of people, a lot of who were not accepted by the people who lived in those areas. But Jesus still healed them because he loved them. It does not matter who you are or what you have done, Jesus will always love you.
What I think this is saying is that no other person, christian, Lutheran, Latin, believe in God as much as we do. He is the highest and the best to follow and welcomes everyone.
The gospel is telling me is that we feel lonely and that’s okay, because we all feel that way sometimes. Jesus wants to make sure that when we feel lonely He is always there.
We our always accepted by God, but sometimes not by others. “No prophet is accepted in his own native place.”
What stuck out to me was the fury that the people felt. They were so driven by that fury that they wanted to throw him off a cliff. Jesus forgives all.
In this the prophet Elijah takes a risk. He knows people will not believe him and accept what he is teaching even though it is what God has sent him for. Elijah has to have trust in God that he will be okay and he ended up fine. This is what happens when we trust in God. God is our protector and our savior. He is the Alpha and the Omega and trust should be in him.
Not everyone is made to fit in. We can often feel left out or different from everyone around us. A lot of people feel this way, so the next time you think that you are alone in this world, just remember there are others who feel the same way and are similar to you.
When you share the gospel not everyone is going to listen which is sad because everyone needs to hear the word of God. But when you do share the gospel sometimes you can change peoples minds about God telling them to love him and give their lives to him.
In today’s Scripture Elijah was driven out of the town. He was not welcome there. There are also many people in our lives that are left out and we either don’t notice or don’t care. We should all try to include anyone who seems lonely even if they might not be one of our very best friends.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that when we are sad, lonely, or depressed he will always be there for us. And that we should never deny or give up on him in any way.
Jesus has the power to do many things, everything. He is so powerful and we need him in our lives. He will do nothing but heal us. When anything goes wrong he will always be there to cure as long as you just believe in him, one simple thing.
I feel like the scripture is saying that if you ever start to feel unaccepted that you have to remember that it’s not just you. When Jesus was preaching the word of God and lots of people thought of him as a freak or weird. He didn’t let that bother Him and continued what He had always done and what He was called to do.
I think that this Gospel reading is trying to tell us about the hardships that we will encounter as a Catholic. Jesus was thrown out of his own town of Nazareth for his teachings so what do you think the people that do not have any reason to be nice to us will do when we profess our faith to them. As a Catholic you will be told that your religion is fake, that you are just following some guy from two thousand years ago, and many other things like that but you cannot be shaken from these things. Jesus didn’t stop preaching after he was thrown out of Nazareth so why should we.
In this passage I think God is giving us a good reminder that we need to accept people into our homes or just our everyday life. It fells terrible to be lonely and everybody should have someone to be with or somewhere to stay. So if we see someone alone or not doing to good we need to accept them into our lives instead of “driving them out of town.”
This Scripture passage is saying that God is always going to be there for us no matter what and we can’t deny Him. We aren’t forced to have a relationship with Him, but we should so that He can help us get through hard times and have someone to lean on to make the right choices. God will never go away, He will be waiting for you to accept His presence and trust that He will do anything for us.
To me this Gospel passage was a reminder that we aren’t meant to be on earth forever. We might feel like it’s where we belong, but this is only a temporary home to see if we are meant to be welcomed into Heaven. Our time on earth is a test. We think it’s all fun and games and that we are supposed to live it however we want in order to have fun, but if we enjoy our time on earth more than we want to spend eternity in Heaven, we are going to suffer more than we think possible after we die.
To me this means that God is telling us that Amen I say to you which to me means that God is telling us to believe and trust in God when he asks of us to do something for him. I feel like that every human needs to be working on trusting God and believing in God when our life does not look God.
I think what Jesus is telling me is to be nice to everyone no matter how different they are. I think Jesus was great at this no one felt hated that Jesus was around.
I think that this passage is telling us thaat even when we are afraid to do something so that we aren’t thrown out, we should always be ouiurselves, because when we aren’t, we’re defying who we are, and manipulating people, and that’s not okay. We should love ourselves for who we are, and know that every single one of us is beautiful, inside and out.
We have to stop being scared and just accept Jesus. We are so scared to change that we don’t try to spend time with God.
I think that this scripture is saying that we think only about ourselves and not about the hardships that others are going through. It says about how a man was cleansed and the rest of the town rose up because they were in fury because they were not cleansed and that they had to deal with being stuck with sin and the man didn’t.
wen you sen jesus see tgg but will frgiv youi
That we need to accept people even if you or myself aren’t accepted and, if people don’t we will always have him by our side to get us through it.
I think the scripture is saying that no matter what our background is, if we get special treatment from anyone or anything people are bound to not like us. People start not liking each other from their jealousy and end up destroying each other from the need to be better than one another. We need to be able to put our jealousy behind us and welcome each other as brothers and sisters.
I think this scripture means that God has more power than we can understand. here is when he shows it.
I think that this scripture is trying to tell me that we should let Jesus love us even when we feel like we are capable of being independent. Humans have a tendency to want to be alone, to think that they don’t need any help. The truth is, we need help, God’s help. Humans need guidance. The journey to heaven is long and rough, we cannot go through it alone.
This scripture is telling me many great things. I think the main meaning of this passage is that we are never truly alone and God is always there for us and will never not be. When we feel like we are alone we should know that we are not truly lonely and don’t ever be sad because you just need to know that God is right there with you. He will always be with us whether it’s sunshine or rain. God will always do anything to be with us forever.
I think that the Scripture is trying to tell us that you may not be accepted for who you are but you should know that you will always be accepted by God. Don’t feel bothered by things that people say to you.
I think what this is saying is that we have to allow God to be in our lives. lots of time many people feel left out, upset, or alone and when we feel like that we have to let God into our lives so he can help us. he will help us get through our life because he is always there for us. But we have to allow him to be there for us and allow him to help us on this journey through life.
Jesus has the power to do everything over us. When we are down Jesus is always there for us. When we do something bad Jesus will always forgive us because He loves US.
Jesus is telling us how our culture goes against what he teaches. It shows all the challenges the world is throwing at us and how we must still be firmly rooted in him. No matter what, the world will always be changing. We must be ready to face whatever it throws at us with Jesus by our side.
Jesus showed them the truth but still kicked him out and rejected him. We are also rejected just for being Christians and believing in God. The world may not be friendly to Christians but we are still friendly to the world just as Jesus said we should be.
This scripture is telling me that even when we are lonely God is always there for us. As Elijah did good and he was drove out of the town God was still there with him.
Lent is a time to grow closer to God. We need to take advantage of that. We should be praying everyday anyways, but especially during Lent.
It must suck to be kicked out of your own hometown. I happened to Jesus and he was calm about it. Keep beliving in the faith, even if it gets you kicked out of your own hometown.
“Amen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place.” Nobody is loved by God more than somebody else, or guaranteed into Heaven. You have to live a life of virtue and to spread the Gospel.
Today’s Scripture passage is saying that God is always going to be there for us no matter what and we can’t deny Him. We aren’t forced to have a relationship with Him, but we should so that He can help us get through hard times and have someone to lean on to make the right choices. God will never go away, He will be waiting for you to accept His presence and trust that He will do anything for us.
This gospel is telling us that we should talk to God. Especially right now we are in a lent season lent is a time to talk to God. To ask for help for the struggles you have.
“AMEN, I SAY TO YOU,NO PROPHET IS ACCEPTED IN HIS OWN NATIVE PLACE” i came out with a blank with this scripture refection and some times silence is all you need for god. he is so great he can know what er are thinking even if we don’t say it.
This scripture is telling us that we need to talk and focus on God as our number 1 thing in our life.
In Todays Scripture Jesus tells us to focus on going to heaven and making it, so we can see him in heaven
