“WILL YOU LAY DOWN YOUR LIFE FOR ME? JN 13:21-33, 36-38
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Reclining at table with his disciples, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified,
“Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
The disciples looked at one another, at a loss as to whom he meant.
One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved,
was reclining at Jesus’ side.
So Simon Peter nodded to him to find out whom he meant.
He leaned back against Jesus’ chest and said to him,
“Master, who is it?”
Jesus answered,
“It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it.”
So he dipped the morsel and took it and handed it to Judas,
son of Simon the Iscariot.
After Judas took the morsel, Satan entered him.
So Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.”
Now none of those reclining at table realized why he said this to him.
Some thought that since Judas kept the money bag, Jesus had told him,
“Buy what we need for the feast,”
or to give something to the poor.
So Judas took the morsel and left at once. And it was night.
When he had left, Jesus said,
“Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself,
and he will glorify him at once.
My children, I will be with you only a little while longer.
You will look for me, and as I told the Jews,
‘Where I go you cannot come,’ so now I say it to you.”
Simon Peter said to him, “Master, where are you going?”
Jesus answered him,
“Where I am going, you cannot follow me now,
though you will follow later.”
Peter said to him,
“Master, why can I not follow you now?
I will lay down my life for you.”
Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me?
Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow
before you deny me three times.” JN 13:21-33, 36-38
Betrayal…is there anything worse than having your heart torn apart by the one’s you love most. The betrayal of Judas and denial by Peter three times may have caused Jesus more pain and suffering than all of the mental and physical pain in His Passion. The difference between Judas and Peter in their betrayal and denial is an important lesson to learn. I learned it from one of my very own 8th graders who just reflected on a talk by a young man who struggled with an addiction to pornography. My student learned that through addiction and overcoming it, “we are not defined by our actions, but how we respond to our actions.” Profound.
We find the face of Christ in our suffering and in those suffering around us. We will all suffer, Christ never promises to take that away. Judas responded by killing himself, Peter responded by weeping, resentment, and later Jesus will give him a chance to be forgiven with his three fold, “You know that I love you” after the resurrection.
Each time we deny Jesus or betray Him with our selfishness and sin, He is ready to forgive. It doesn’t matter how many times or how big of a whopper the sin is, it depends on how you respond to it. It depends on how you love again to avoid it. Will we use Christ like a slot machine and do it again (sin of presumption) or will we give it to Him so His grace and suffering can do its work. God’s grace and love restore what sin has damaged. How open are you to this grace and love?
Christ wants us to embrace our suffering and sin so we can come to know how much He loves us and how badly He wants to forgive us to make things right with the Father. Most people just get stuck or scared in life. Jesus has opened up an avenue back to the Father, but it requires many struggles and lessons learned to grow in holiness.
This Lent bust loose from the chains of sin and selfishness by allowing Christ and His grace to transform you. Give up your will so you can do His Will. There is no problem God’s grace cannot overcome. You may need counseling or medicine as well, God has put people in our lives to help transform us as well. Allow the light of Christ to bring out the ugliness in the darkness of your soul, so His healing power can begin!
Today’s challenge: Respond to your brokenness. Respond to your sin. Respond to your being chained down. Respond by allowing God’s love to free you from brokenness, sin, and being chained down.
Be a servant, become a saint!

Betrayal is the worst thing someone you love can do to you, and that’s how Jesus felt when He knew Judas would betray Him, and how Peter would deny knowing Him three seperate times, but He had to suffer through the feeling of betrayal because He knew He had to die for people’s redemption.
evry one was waring white so jutes kiss jesus to tell the l gard about him
Jesus new He was going to die but, He still went threw with it. He could have begged Judas not give Him up. Jesus accepted HIs fate long before He came to Earth. Jesus is a great inspiration even when we don’t want to do something good we should still do it. Remember what Jesus did for us on the cross.
In this scripture passage Jesus reveals the identity of the disciple that will betray him Judas and he runs away.
I think this Gospel is showing how kind Jesus was. He told Judas the one who was to get him captured to just leave and he didn’t even act like he was mad at him. If I was Jesus in this Gospel and the person who was going to be the reason I will suffer is right by me I would have probably fought Judas. Jesus didn’t though he stayed calm and took what the Father had planned for him.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” I honestly don´t know why this stuck out to me a lot. I feel like Jesus is trying to tell me that it is us. When we sin we betray him, every day we betray Him. He died on the cross for every sin we bring to His feet. And what does he do, he forgives us. Think about that be betray Him so much, and he gives us grace and loves us forever more. Think about when a friend just says something rude, we hold a grudge for a long time. But we kill Jesus with what we do, and still comes back giving us a deeper love. That is so amazing and so cool.
I learned from this Gospel that we should stand firm in Jesus. Although Peter said that he would lay his life down for Jesus, he still denied him three times. We should learn from this and not deny Jesus in our current time. We should fully believe in Christ and never reject Him even through persecution. If we proclaim Jesus on Earth, Jesus will open the gates of heaven for us.
“It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it.” So he dipped the morsel and took it and handed it to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot. After Judas took the morsel, Satan entered him. So Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do it quickly.” Now none of those reclining at the table realized why he said this to him. Jesus already knew what pain and suffering he would end up going through because he understood and knew the will of the father. Knowing didn’t make it easier it actually did the opposite which shows in “The Last 18 Hours” documentary we are watching. What this tells us is that the will of the Father may be difficult but we have to have the strength and ask for the strength to get through it.
What reached out to me was when Jesus asked, “Will you lay down your life for me?” What this means to me is that we have to be willing to give everything up if it means getting to Jesus. We can’t make it to heaven if we won’t let go of what’s on Earth.
In today’s reading Judas is set up to betray Jesus. During the last supper Jesus dips his morsel and handed it to Judas. Jesus was showing the disciples something they wouldn’t understand yet, which happens a lot is the gospels. But today it all lined up during Holy week. We just have to wait patiently.
We must acknowledge our sins and our brokenness before we can grow in our faith. It’s okay to feel ashamed, and it’s okay to have problems. We are human, and it is only human for us not to be perfect. God recognizes that we are broken. He wants us to give him our brokenness. He wants us to feel joyful. Sometimes people believe that He is here to take away our freedoms. The truth is that God is not here to punish, He is here to love.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” Jesus is telling all the disciples that one will betray Him. Everyone is confused and they don’t know what He means. Jesus hands something to Judas showing that Judas is going to betray Him. Jesus told Judas to make it quick. isn’t it crazy how Jesus knows what’s going to happen and He just accepts it, because he loves us!?! I still don’t understand it, it’s CRAZY!
We must follow God and not let us Betray him. We must love God and accept him into our lives. Jesus never promised us that we would have life easy or not have problems and not have obstacles. Life is never going to be easy but Jesus can help us through it when times get rough.
Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. We can often get materialistic. We want new clothes and shoes. It’s okay to like materials but we can’t let them consume our lives. We need to have self control so we don’t hurt the people around us.
Jesus knew Judas would betray Him. When we disobey God, we betray Him. Unlike Judas, we should ask forgiveness for our sins and be sorry.
Jesus said that Judas would betray him, he knew what was about to happen. Jesus could have stopped his Passion if that’s what he wanted but he didn’t. He didn’t stop it because it was God’s will, his will, to die and save us. It is a great selfless act and most people aren’t even aware of it. Jesus was betrayed by one of his closest friends, was beaten, scourged, forced to walk miles while weak, and then crucified, all for us. His selfless act saved us all, please acknowledge it.
Jesus suffered unspeakable pain and sorrow and I believe this is the wound that cut the deepest. His closest friends betrayed Him and denied Him. They turned away in fear and fell away when he really needed them. To be a loving person, we need to never give up. Keep trying even when you think that it’s never going to get better and persevere through your trials. Offer up your suffering for others and stand strong in your faith. Never give up.
A phrase that stuck out to me is “Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” I like this phrase because it means that I am the reason Jesus is put to death and that I need to be less like Judas. Another reason I like this phrase is that the gospels from now on start to get really deep and that you cannot miss a little bit of it or you will not get the whole passion.
Judas did one of the worst things you can do to somebody. Betrayal. Jesus knew what was gonna happen but he just accepted the fact that he was gonna get betrayed by one of his disciples. He didn’t care, he obeyed God and did what he was told.
Today’s scripture we learn Jesus knew he was gonna get betrayed by Judas and Peter. It’s crazy that Peter THE FOLLOWER OF JESUS, AN APOSTLE. He said, “I do not know this MAN! WHO IS HE.” my favorite part of scripture was, “Each time we deny Jesus or betray Him with our selfishness and sin, He is ready to forgive. It doesn’t matter how many times or how big of a whopper the sin is, it depends on how you respond to it. It depends on how you love again to avoid it. Will we use Christ like a slot machine and do it again (sin of presumption) or will we give it to Him so His grace and suffering can do its work. God’s grace and love restore what sin has damaged.”
Jesus got betrayed by Judas and was tortured in the middle of the night. He didn’t sleep that night so we can only imagine what happened the next morning on Good Friday. He was betrayed. By our sin. Our sin is the reason Jesus died. Our sin is the reason Judas betrayed Jesus. Our sin is what built that cross. Our sin is what killed Jesus. And He was brutally tortured and killed. Yet He still came back with loving forgiveness to us. He was so loving and so great He came back with loving forgiveness to us. He loves us so much that He dies for our sins, comes back to us, and then goes as far to forgive us for killing Him. HOW?!? He is all loving and all forgiving. That’s how.
Jesus is Telling us that he feels our pain. He knows how it feels to be betrayed. We have a God so close to us that he roamed to earth and went through suffering. Our God is so close to us that he is closer to us than us ourselves.
Jesus knew that one of his disciples would betray him. “It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it.” So he dipped the morsel and took it and handed it to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot. After Judas took the morsel, Satan entered him. So Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do it quickly.” saten entered the body of judas. the only way he was able to enter was because judas was in the state of betrayal. but in the end God still loved him. as he still loves us.
Jesus knew what Judas was going to do from the very beggining, but he still loved him and cared for him. He personally handed him over to the government where he got whipped, thrown, beat up, and crusified. Judas betrayed him in anyway possible. And Jesus still loved him. Just how we should still love others even when they are being a little mean.
There is almost nothing that hurts more than betrayal. I could only imagine what Jesus felt like when his own father didn’t answer him and before that there had also been Judas and Peter, Peter didn’t really betray him but he did deny him while cursing. When we are betrayed it could hurt pretty bad but we shouldn’t be getting back at them, we should just pray for them, don’t bring them down, sooner or later they will realize that they did something bad, it’s only a matter of time.
In the scripture it says that Jesus reveals one of his disciples and that we must follow God and not betray him.
Before I say anything else have to say that It’s interesting that John doesn’t say I or me but he says the one that Jesus loves. Anyway, something that stuck out to me is “Will you lay down your life for me?” To me it’s like he’s not just talking to Peter but it’s like he’s talking to me to. like its a message that he sent to us. We can all say oh yeah theres no doubt about it. But honestly very few will. If I ever had to choose I pray that I would die for him.
So he dipped the morsel and took it and handed it to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot. After Judas took the morsel, Satan entered him.
this says that only after he took the food did he want to betray Jesus. like Jesus made Judas betray him. I wonder if that means that for Jesus it didn’t hurt as much because he knew it was the fathers will.
Just as Peter and Judas betrayed Jesus we can’t say that we are any better then them us sinning is betraying Jesus making him suffer and he knew that he was gonna die but he didn’t stop it from happening he loves us so much that he died for our sins so we need to give back to him by our prayers and love.
Jesus was so calm whenever there was so much chaos all around him and he was calm. Jesus is our foundation whenever we are getting blown away from God by temptations and sin God helps us up. He is the one who keeps us up. He died for us and what do we repay him with? We respond with mockery, denial, sin, and yet he still loves us. His love never changes he is and will always and forever be with us. We just have to decide how close we want to be with him or betray him with the devil
In the Scripture today I think it is telling me that Jesus knows what is gonna happen to us and what were gonna do He knows more about us than we know ourselves. Jesus knew Judas was gonna betray Him. Sometimes we can be like Judas maybe not go away forever but just betray Jesus for when we do the wrong thing and the opposite of what Jesus wants. We don’t wanna be like Judas we wanna obey Jesus and do what He wants us to do.
“we are not defined by our actions, but how we respond to our actions.”If you choose to do bad and your ok with it,you laugh at it your proud of it,etc. That defines you as a bad person, for example if you killed someone and you didnt care, you were proud of it,but is you accidentally did something, you morn, you apologize, you confess, and pray.
It’s the time that Judas will detrayed Jesus for 40 silver
Judas is an example of one of the worst things you can do to someone. He betrayed his leader. You have to take the time and think is this gonna hurt someone if I say it or do it and put them in you shoes.
“WILL YOU LAY DOWN YOUR LIFE FOR ME?”
We should think about this quote everyday. Are we willing to lay down our life, and sacrifice our time that could be spent at parties, or playing video games, etc. Are we willing to partially give those things up for God.
What stuck out to me was when Jesus told Simon Peter that whoever he hands the morsel to after he dips it will be the one to betray him. The reason why it stuck out to me is because when Jesus is praying in the garden, when Judas arrives he says that whoever he kisses is the one to arrest. I think that Jesus knew what Judas was going to do even before Judas knew.
What God says in this Gospel is that betrayal is a hard and bad thing to do to someone who was cared for you and give you wisdom and knowledge. Judas betrays Jesus and has now let the devil enter him. We should never go away from Jesus, but to look to him as a role model and our savior.
What stuck out to me was that Each time we deny Jesus or betray Him with our selfishness and sin, He is ready to forgive. This stuck out to me because sometimes i feel like Im a failure Jesus could never love me or forgive me because of my sins but really Jesus loves us no matter what and nothing can stop him from loving us.
I think the Gospel is trying to tell us not to betray God. Jesus got betrayed by Judas and he knows later that Peter will deny him. “Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow before you deny me three times.”
We betray Jesus every time we sin. When we betray Jesus we betray our savior. He loves us very much and we betray him. But we can make up for it by going to confession and resounding to our actions of betrayal and sin the right way.
Jesus knows everything, that could be my whole scripture reflection because Jesus knows everything. I think Judas was surprised that Jesus knew he was going to betray Him. God knows everything. He knows your struggles, strengths and what bothers you. He likes to help you all you have to do is ask.
Every time we sin, we are like Judas. Betraying Jesus. This is why we need to follow Jesus, and try our best not to sin, because every time we do, we are adding more weight of sin to our soul, and the cross.
Betrayal and addition is something that you might not know you’ve done until consequences start hitting you like a man running away from an avalanche. Addition isn’t just drugs, smoking, drinking, and anything like that but it can be reputation, likeness from other people, popularity, and media. Betrayal on the other hand is something that you do that can hurt the person mentally and physically, like a stone hitting a bird one stone can’t kill two birds but a bolder can crash down the branch they lay on.
I think the scripture is telling me that Jesus told his sacrifice of giving his body and blood for us to have at the last supper. He for shadows that hes dying body on the cross is our spiritual food and drink. In the feeding of the 5 thousand Jesus also breaks the bread gives thanks and gives it to his disciples to pass out. That’s the same thing he did at the last supper. Jesus is repeated what will happen in the end over and over again. He shows us the same signs but in different and hard to understand ways. We have to pay attentions so we don’t miss anything Jesus teaches us.
Judas and Peter’s betrayal might have caused more pain to Jesus then the suffering in his Passion. We are not defined by our actions but by how we respond to our actions. When we betray Jesus with our sin, He is ready to forgive us. We need to give him our suffering because God can restore what sin has damaged. God has given us people and things in our lives to help transform us.
The mistakes of Judas and Peter from betrayal to lying about if they know Jesus caused Jesus more pain and suffering than all of the mental and physical pain in His passion. so then it doesn’t matter how big or how many times you do it the sin is, Judas and Peter will aways be forgiven and He loves us and will forgive us no matter how bad it is. He wants to forgive us to make things right with the Father. There is no problem God’s grace cannot overcome.
Judas betrayed Jesus just like we betray God when we sin but unlike Judas we have the ability to have our sins washed away at the sacrament of reconciliation, and even though Judas betrayed God’s only son he still would have forgave him.
Jesus knew He his death was near and that He would have to go through suffering, but He knew it was the will of God. Because God became man, God felt that suffering we do as humans but He resisted sin just as we can. Jesus is an amazing example of how we should live our lives.
In the Gospel today, I learned that we should stand with Jesus. Although Peter said that he would lay down his life for Jesus, he still denied Him. We should learn from this so hopefully in the future we will not make the same mistake.
The reason we should trust in God the most is because He will never betray us or leave us. Sometimes humans betray one another just because of their selfish needs, which is one reason why God is more reliable. Friends can even betray one another, just like Peter betrayed Jesus. Peter betrayed Jesus and left him after he had denied him three times. This bible passage shows us that even the greatest people in the bible sinned like we do. They betray like we do, and they were saved by Jesus like we are.
We can’t ever say that we would never do anything to hurt Jesus, because that’s not true. Everyone sins, because no one is perfect. We can’t make ourselves up just to look better than others, because we really aren’t. We are all sinners, and only Jesus can save us.
I this this scripture just shows that Jesus knows that his time is almost up, yet he remains very calm. He knows that Judas is the one who will betray him, but Jesus does not stop him when he runs away. He also shows that even his followers will hurt him. When peter denies Jesus three times.
Today Jesus says to His disciples that one of them is going to betray Him. He says Judas is going to betray Him. Some of us if not most of us have been betrayed before. Whether it was in a game or real life we have all felt it before. Jesus knew what was going to happen but we don’t. Once betrayal happens it changes our life but we have someone to turn to and that someone is God.
“Where I go you cannot come.” I think it’s saying that our time isn’t up and that God has more in store for us. We need to be patient with Him. He knows who we are. He knows what we are going to be when we’re older. He knows our brokenness. He is always going to be there because He can never leave you. Our time will be over when God says it is.
Jesus was betrayed by one of His best friends. They prayed together and spent time together, all for Judas to give Him up. But it wasn’t a waste, because Jesus died on the cross for our sins. None of the other disciples knew that Judas would betray them. Even though Judas did something truly evil, Jesus still forgave Him and died on the cross for Judas and ourselves.
Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Most of us would not take up the cross for Jesus because we want to live. Jesus knew this. He knew he had to die for us to live.
I think today’s scripture passage is trying to tell us not to betray Jesus. We need to stay firm in our beliefs and always have faith no matter what. We should not deny Him. He went through so much pain and suffering and died on the cross all for us, so the least we can do is believe.
In this scripture Jesus is saying to Simon Peter that he will deny him 3 times. But he doesn’t believe Jesus and he says that he won’t. Then some time later he denies Jesus for the first time and he didn’t even realize. Then another time he does and he still doesn’t realize. But the third time he does Jesus says something and Simon Peter finally realizes what he did and knows that Jesus was speaking the truth. I feel that we deny Jesus all the time and we push him away and don’t listen. We should listen to what he has to tell us because what he is telling us is the truth. It is the truth that will help us get to Heaven. He is here for us and we need to start listening and believing in him more if we are not. He wants us to get to Heaven just as much as we want to get there but to do that we must follow him and listen to the great things he is trying to tell us.
the apostles are all questioning Jesus after he reveals to them that one of them will betray him. all of the apostles cant imagine who would do that and they do not believe one among them would do something like that. Jesus tells Judas that whatever he is doing do it quickly, the apostles do not understand that Judas is the one who is going to have Jesus killed.
In the scripture Judas is about to betray Jesus. None of the other disciples realize what Jesus actually means by betray though, the other disciples were saying that it mustn’t be them that will betray Jesus, although Peter didn’t betray him, he did deny that he knew him. In our world, people are scared to say their religion because someone will hurt them for it so they keep it a secret, they will deny that they love God, but they will pray about it afterwards. We all betray Jesus by choosing possessions over Jesus, like we chose our phones over going to mass.
Jesus said in the gospel that one of you will betray me. Then Judas ended up betraying Jesus. Jesus gave Judas whatever he asked and he still gave everything away and turned Jesus in. This story still goes on in today ´ s life Jesus will give you everything freewill, grace, and even his our life and we still betray him, and fall for the devils trap.
what the scripture is telling me is that jesus had a lot of pain he had to deal with before being crucified. He was betrayed and denied and jesus knew all of this. Jesus was just as humanly as us because he showed humanly emotions and expierienced everything we expirence. But what i think He is trying to say is that there is still a chance to be forgiven before he dies.
every time we revive communion we are taking in god. we are reenacting the last supper. we are gods disciples and we are to be sent out to teach the good word of God. do what God asked of you and you will be truly happy in life.
Jesus knew Peter would deny Him. Peter thought that he would lay down his life for Jesus, but Jesus knew and even told him that he would deny Him. We need to stand next to God and try our best not to sin, because every time we sin we are denying Jesus.
Jesus knows he is going to die. His disciples have no idea what he is trying to say. Jesus knew that Peter was going to deny him 3 times. This shows that nothing is impossible with God.
“Will you lay down your life for me?
Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow
before you deny me three times.”
This scripture is telling us to get ready for Jesus’ death, In a few days people are going to see Jesus’ suffering again. We should keep doing our Lenten fast.
This scripture is telling that Jesus is always here for us when we sin. When we sin we go to confession and ask Jesus for forgiveness from our sins. Confessing our sins is very important. It is how we tell Jesus we are sorry. Jesus is very merciful and he forgives us from sin. Everyone makes mistakes and sins but it is important how we handle that.
This scripture is when Jesus is talking about Judas and how he will betray Jesus. One thing that stuck out to me was when Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow before you deny me three times.”
I assume that it was hard for Judas to hear this. He had probably planned on betraying Jesus in someway, but for Jesus to straight up acknowledge the fact that he will must have been a punch in the gut. This probably plays a part in his suicide later on.
Jesus couldn’t even trust in one of His favorite Apostles, Peter denied knowing Jesus three times, Peter is always around Jesus and is also scared of being taken in or hurt by the guards just for knowing Jesus. Jesus was going through all of this agony and Peter was away denying that he knew who Jesus was.
“one of you will betray me” We betray Jesus every day when we sin. Even though we do, he still forgives us. Whenever we lie, or cheat, or curse, we betray Him, and he forgives us. We need to learn to try harder to please him and to sin less. With His help we can do anything.
“It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it.” So he dipped the morsel and took it and handed it to Judas,” Jesus knew that Judas, one of His Apostles, was going to betray Him. Honestly for me, that would be hard and stressful. I bet it was for Jesus too. Jesus is not like us though. Jesus doesn’t hold grudges like us as humans do. Jesus forgives. He forgave Judas. He also forgives us.
This reading shows us how God was betrayed by his own people. To me, this shows how God was just like us and goes through the same things we do. We think that since he was God he probably had this perfect life, but he had the same temptations and hardships we have. He has both physical and emotional stress.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” The disciples looked at one another, at a loss as to whom he meant.” I feel like this scripture reflection really reflects on how we act. We think we can sneak around and get away with it. But God will always know our true intentions in life.
The worst thing that can happen is you getting betrayed by someone you trust and Jesus had that happen in today’s Gospel he even knew what was going to happen but he still let Judas betray him. I think this is telling us that we need to not always take the betrayal but sometimes take the betrayal and let it be.
In this reading, Jesus points out two disciples in particular – Judas and Peter. Jesus knew what Judas was going to do to Him, but He still chose to listen to his father, God. Jesus knew his fate, but still accepted it. I think it is sad how He takes it because He knows this is what He has to do for us, not for himself. Peter says he will lay down his life for Jesus, but Jesus knows otherwise. This reminds me to not say things carelessly, because we do not know our future and even ourselves.
Jesus knew who was going to betray him, and he knew what was going to happen. We have all felt betrayed before and we all know that it sucks. Jesus was going through that but Jesus told Judas “What you are going to do, do it quickly” because Jesus knew this is what he was going to have to go through to save humanity. He knew this was the will of the father. He was willing to take on the world’s pain and sin just for us. He took everything on for us. That is the passionate love of Jesus Christ.
This Scripture is talking about how Judas betrayed Jesus and also how Peter was also going to betrayed Jesus. I really think that during this Scripture that it hurts getting betrayed by your friends and how you might struggle because your closet friends just betrayed you and that might hurt a lot because Judas is betraying Jesus for 30 pieces of silver can you imagine getting betrayed for money.
I think the scripture is saying that we all will be betrayed similar to how Jesus was betrayed, and that we must figure out a way to deal with that pain. Thinking about how Jesus was right before his arrest, being betrayed by not just Judas but also by Peter. Going into the garden of Gethsemane going through hematorosis because of how stressed he was and then right after being hungry, thirsty, without rest, and being beaten. None of us know his pain not just physically but also mentally. Jesus’s arrest was illegal and he went through excoriated pain and did it all to save us.
Peter is one of Jesus’s closest friends, and yet, Jesus tells Peter that he will betray Him. Peter often represents us. So what does this tell us? Jesus is telling us that we will “betray” Him. We will sin. We will allow the devil to take over and for God to come in second. It’s bound to happen. We’re human. Is that an excuse though? No. We are still called to be reconciled to God, just like Peter was after the Resurrection. If we sin, no matter what, God forgives us. Our Eternal Father will give us His everlasting mercy, if only we would ask.
“Master, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow before you deny me three times.” This was the part that stuck out to me. For me, it seemed that Peter didn’t really know what he was about to do in denying Jesus. He seems so genuine, and cares for Jesus. You can see later that Peter felt horrible after he realized what he did. Jesus was betrayed and denied by two of his closest friends. We can all imagine how that must have felt, because it hurts. It happens to us sometimes, we’ve all been through it. Jesus went through emotional pain, as well as physical pain. Jesus went through so much, just for us.
I think the Scripture is saying we shouldn’t betray Jesus the way Judas did. Judas caused Jesus a lot of pain when he betrayed Him. Jesus not only had to deal with the pain of the scourging, crowning of thorns, and crucifixion, but he had to deal with the pain of Judas betraying Him. Judas was not the only one who hurt Jesus. Peter hurt Jesus by denying Him. “Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow before you deny me three times.” Peter denied Jesus not once, not twice, but three times. Us sinners also caused Jesus pain. We have to remember that Jesus died for our lives, and we shouldn’t betray Him like Judas and Peter.
It is saying that sometimes when we think that someone would never betray us. They might, you never know. They might say something mean or steal something of yours, but Jesus forgiven Judas when he betrayed Jesus. We need to learn to forgive each other it may be hard, but if Jesus did it we can too.
I don’t understand how Jesus just got betrayed and stayed cool about it. I can hardly take when my friend walks past me to talk to someone else besides me. That shows that Jesus is not just a human, he is God. I am going to take a word from Mr. Geortz and say that we might think we will be okay if someone betrays us because we are “Mocho”. The thing is, Jesus didn’t say he would be okay, He showed that He was Okay. All of us word get furious and love that person less, but Jesus didn’t love Judas any less. He might have loved Judas even more. Take all your struggles head on like Jesus. If you are wavering, ask God and you will make it through.
Betrayal is horrible, especially when they randomly stop being friends. Judas’s betrayal was the worst because he did it for payment and did it for Jesus’s life. Jesus stayed cool when I get mad at my friends for the stupidest of things. Jesus’s friend just betrayed his life for money and he just talked like nothing was wrong. We need to be more like Him.
Each time we deny Jesus or betray Him with our selfishness and sin, He is ready to forgive. It doesn’t matter how many times or how big of a the sin is, it depends on how you respond to it. It depends on how you love again to avoid it.
“I will lay down my life for you.” Jesus laid down his life for US, I think we need to think about that more because this man on the cross died for OUR sins instead of letting us face our own punishments. This is how we know that he loves us and that we should love him.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” That “one of you” is practically describing the entire human race. We feel like God doesn’t exist, so we can do whatever we want. but very few of us see the error of our ways and really repent from our heathenous ways and truly follow God.
Each time we deny Jesus or betray Him with our selfishness and sin, He is ready to forgive. It doesn’t matter how many times or how big of a whopper the sin is, it depends on how you respond to it. He doesn’t care how many sins we do he cares about what we do to be forgiven and it is right at our finger tips to be forgiven in church. We just have to go to reconciliation to be forgiven in Christ so we can go to heaven. We just need to get up and respond.
I think this is trying to say that we need to listen to God no matter what and if he says to do something we need to do it. He is leading us to heaven. He would never do anything to hurt us.
Imagine a few of your very close friends. Now imagine they start to find excuses to not hang out with you or they talk about you or they start hanging out with other people and not including you. You’d feel pretty upset right? I know that when you care for someone and they leave you it kinda hurts, no it REALLY hurts. Jesus went through a lot of pain but two of His best friends betrayed Him. We should always love others even if they do hurt us. Jesus did so should we.
Today Jesus told The disciples Judas was going to betray him. This must have been really hard on Jesus because these were his best friends and him having to know that they would betray him had to be hard. I know from experience how hard it is when you and a friend either have a falling out or they talk behind your back. Even though me and that friend reconciled i still feel bad sometimes. God not only had to endure the pain of the cross but also the pain of losing a friend. This means no matter how hard things get you should always be loyal to your friends.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” We all betrayed Jesus when we said “Let him be crucified!” We must realize that not only did Judas, Pilate, and the soldiers crucify Jesus, but we did as well. We chose to eat from the tree, and we chose to sin. God knows that we will sin, so he doesn’t get mad when we do, but instead he waits patiently for us to return to him.
I don’t think Judas knew he was going to kill Jesus at the Last Supper. Just like in everything Jesus knew first. Then when Judas did hand Him over that probably caused Jesus lots of suffering. Also, when Peter denied Jesus that probably made Jesus have lots of suffering too. But we get to choose who we are like. We can be like Judas and betray Jesus and never come back to Him so He can forgive us, or we can be like Peter who betrayed Jesus and then came back to Him so He could forgive him.
Judas portrays us, God knows when we sin (betray) Him but the only difference is we can make it to Heaven. Judas could have went to Heaven if he repented, he went to hell because he may be sorry but he did not repent unlike us who (hopefully) do repent.
Sometimes I don’t know how Jesus does it. He knew exactly what was going to happen the entire time and he stayed calm and was still always himself. I wish that I could be like this and not get angry or sad at things like this.
there will always be someone who is doesn’t like you or is jealous of you or you are jealous of them. There will always be somebody who try to bring you down. There will always be that one person who will betray you in the future. Always make sure you surround yourslef with good friends who actually know you and love you. All these people that want to bring you down God would never do that. He is there with you until the very end He loves you so much. He could never do anything bad to you. If it seems like that its all for a reason He doesnt do anything without reasoning.
We still suffer a lot of people are confused why they suffer even though they thought Jesus got rid of suffering and they might turn away from God.Jesus didn’t take away suffering because our suffering is good because in our deepest suffering we can grow even closer to God than ever before. As an example if you lost a loved one you kind get mad with God and why there gone but through the grief and suffering you can think of it as something wonderful for the person because they get to go to Heaven and be eternally happy with God and you in some way thank God and grow closer to him in the same instant. So in my mind why Jesus didn’t get rid of suffering is because its so good for us.
In today’s scripture we hear about Jesus being betrayed. When I ever read or hear this story it brings me back to 3rd grade when I figured out that one of my closest friends had been talking behind my back. I don’t know how Jesus could stay so calm when Judas betrayed him because when my friend betrayed me I was so mad at them. I think that this scripture is amazing because it teaches me every time I read it to stay calm when someone is mad at you.
If God can come down to earth and save us from our sins, when He could just be lying down and watching us like a TV, then we can give our lives to God.
When we sin we are betraying Jesus. We all have sinned and yet Jesus died for us, to save us from sin so we can go to Heaven
This scripture basically foreshadows Judas’ and Peter’s betrayals. It also reminds us not to betray him.
Judas betrayed. Betrayal doesn’t feel good to the person you are betraying. You have hurt someone by betraying them. We need to stay honest, and true to God and his word, we need to follow in his example, and do good.
Judas did one of the worst things you can do to somebody. Betrayal to someone very special Jesus. He(Jesus) knew what was gonna happen but he just accepted the fact that he was gonna get betrayed by one of his disciples. He didn’t care, he obeyed God and did what he was told.
i think this scripture is on how we betray god all the time and he still forgives us and puts his life up for us.
Judas betrayed Jesus for Money and Peter betrays Jesus in fear of punishment. That had to be the hardest thing more than everything else he went through. We shouldn’t be ashamed of our relationship and faith in God. Are we willing to really be with Jesus of just live a lukewarm faith with The Father??
