Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
“Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.”
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”
But Mary said to the angel,
“How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?”
And the angel said to her in reply,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God.”
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”
Then the angel departed from her.  LK 1:26-28

Today, we celebrate the announcement of the birth of Jesus, the Savior of the world, to Mary by God through His messenger Angel Gabriel.  Mary has been raised in the Temple and knows the Scriptures well, what she does not know is what sorrow and joy awaits her.  Her heart will be pierced with 7 swords, the last when Christ’s heart is pierced at the crucifixion.  She will become the mother of God.  She will be the Mediatrix of grace, the mother of mercy.  We walk with her asking her intercession and remembering her life with Jesus in the rosary.  Devote yourself to the rosary.  Never miss another day.  It will change your life forever.  She has an Immaculate Heart one with the Holy Spirit.  St. Maximillian Kolbe spent most of his life trying to figure out why she appeared as the Immaculate Conception.  He later understood that the uncreated Immaculate Conception is the Holy Spirit and the created Immaculate Conception is Mary conceived without original sin.  At the foot of the cross, Mary and John, the Apostle stand supporting Christ in His final moments.  Jesus reveals to Mary that He consecrates the world through her to His Divine Mercy pouring forth from His most Sacred Heart.  She is to be the mediator between us and Christ, to be a refuge for sinners.  She is to bring us Jesus’s Divine Mercy.  As a sinner, this is very Good News. (Fr. Michael Gaitley, 33 Days to Morning Glory) Devote and consecrate yourself to Mary to help you overcome stubborn sin in your life and grow in holiness. If heaven is your destination, holiness is the key, Mary can help you.

Today’s challenge: Consecrate yourself to Jesus through Mary.  St. Louis de Montfort said it is the quickest way to holiness. Many popes and saints have done a yearly consecration to Mary.
