Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.
I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away,
not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter
will pass from the law,
until all things have taken place.
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments
and teaches others to do so
will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.
But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments
will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.” MT 5:17-19
Jesus reminds us today that the commandments carry some weight. When is the last time you did a good examination of conscience going through the 10 commandments? Each of us have our favorite sins. We know them well, but do these sins we commit habitually cause us to miss something else that might be leading us to those sins found in the other commandments.
Jesus boldly states, “Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.” This comes right after the beatitudes, the way to true happiness and gaining eternal life. He then gives us consequences if we don’t keep them. Sin has its own consequences. There are serious consequences for sin and not following the commandments. Obedience is the first step to holiness and disobedience gave all humanity Original Sin. Basically, it boils down to selfishness and unselfishness. Sin is telling God we don’t care, period.
If we keep the commandments, we will know Christ’s heart. Isn’t that the point of every Lent; get to know Christ’s heart better, more deeply. That should be the goal every day. When we get to know Jesus’s heart (which begins at the foot of the Cross), in His proclamation of the kingdom (Gospels), and especially the belief that He resurrected and all His Words are true, the absolute Truth, we will be ready to fight sin. We will not want to hurt Christ when we really get to know His heart.
His heart is full of sacrificial love. We were never worthy as sinners for a sinless Man to die for us. It would be one thing if we were just. St. Paul says, “He died for us as we were still sinners.” We have a God who is crazy in love with us. A radical love that even loves enemies and sinners who know they are sinning. Why? God is love straight through-Bishop Barron He cannot not love. This love is compassion (to suffer with), mercy (as many do overs as we need), and forgiveness (unlimited). So, not out of fear but love will we start to turn from our selfish ways and follow these commandments that bring us joy. Obedience requires sacrifice and suffering. Suffering brings joy. We we born into a battlefield not a picnic field. We have to stop thinking things will get easier or God will take away the pain and suffering. When we give ourselves to God, the battle begins. God is the one who gives us what we need for the battle and the rewards for fighting are eternal!
The Devil puts in our minds that God is trying to take away our fun by following His commandments. These commands are to protect us from the Devil and misery. We need to stop holding on to the things that make us miserable. So, where do we start seeing the commandments for what they truly are? Pray by just talking to Christ and asking Him for His grace to help you get to know His heart better. Ask Him to give you the grace to love more and the results will be sinning less and being selfless. Be a servant! Become a saint! “But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.” MT 5:17-19
Today’s challenge: Seek Christ’s heart! Be silent and listen instead of talking during prayer. Reflect on Jesus’s message and apply it in one way each day.
Be a servant, become a saint!

It’s saying if you take other rules over God’s own rulers and commandments then you will be the least of His people. He makes you make sure you are on track to be one of the best people and personalities. God wants us to be better for each other and for Him.
God is telling us that we need to follow all his rules to get all his graces.
“Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.” This message is a lot like one we did a few weeks ago. It said that if someone causes a child to sin, it would have been better for them to have never been born. He makes it very clear that if you cause someone to sin it is really bad. We need to think about our actions before doing so.
in the scripture it said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.” I believe that this means that God has only come to complete the world not leave it lost. Jesus wants all of us to go to heaven and be fulfilled.
I think this is saying that we all sin, everyday, all the time. With this lent, we should learn and we need to get rid of our greatest sins that we do, or suffer with every single day.
What I took away from this gospel is that even if God gives us rules to follow, it for our good. He doesn’t make rules for him, he makes them for us. Since he makes them for us, we should learn to follow and obey them. We should acknowledge, even if it’s hard for us, that God only wants the best for us and he makes the rules for peace. We should accept this act of kindness and not push it away.
In today’s gospel, Jesus tells us that to get in to heaven, our souls must be completely purified. Not even the smallest sin can pass into heaven. Whoever obeys and teaches the commandments will be called the greatest in heaven. I need to go to confession often so I am in a state of grace so I can make it to heaven.
Jesus wants us to go to Heaven with Him so He gave us the 10 Commandments. The commandments are a great way for us to follow Jesus straight into Heaven. Jesus gave more than the commandments by coming to Earth and teaching because He loves us. We must pay it forward by following what He has taught us.
to Jesus our lives are super small so why dont we live it with god.
Jesus says today who ever who sins the least (or whoever breaks the 10 commandents the least) and who teaches other people to follow them, will be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. He says this so we can be more like him and from him to help us to get into heaven.
Today the scripture is telling me of the importance of the Ten Commandments. They define what we can and cannot do in the Catholic life. The Commandments and the Gospels are the guidelines of our faith, of how to be holy and gain eternal life in joy with Jesus. Doesn’t that seem pretty important? We need to pay more attention to the things that matter. We can give our attention to worldly things, and that won’t get us anywhere. Eternal life should be our main goal. If not, we need to put our priorities straight.
When t Jesus came, many people thought that He would be a worldly king. That is obviously not the case. He came to die for us, even though we didn’t deserve it. His love for us drove Him to give up Himself and His own Blood, so we could have a chance to be with Him for eternity. It’s easy to forget Jesus’ love for us, especially when we ask for something in prayer and we don’t get it. Jesus isn’t required to answer a prayer, He does for us what is best for us.
in todays gospel God is telling me that when we dont follow His commandments we are getting farther away from Heaven. Those are what get us to Heaven. When we do follow His commandment though, we get closer to Heaven and closer to God. He will love us the same either way because He loves all. It’s rather get the love of God but don’t go to Heaven, or get the love of God and go to Heaven as well. To me I think that the last one is a pretty good choice. So follow His Commandments and stay in a great relationship with Christ.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is telling us one of the simplest things possible: follow the law! We shouldn’t break rules! This is also Jesus telling people that he is not a physical king, but a spiritual one.
This scripture is saying that God always knows truth and he is gonna correct us to always chose the right things to do when the devil give us bad temptation otherwise. Trusting that God will always be by our side and follow us along our life journey is truly a blessing. Not many people live the way we Catholics/Christians do.
The Law of the Lord is the law of our life that has been given to us from the prophets that the Lord has sent. As a King sets the law for the people God has made the law for us to follow, so if we do, we might be saved. The Lord is the King of kings, the Messiah, our Savior. Why should we be afraid of the shadow of death? If we are with the Lord and the Lord is with us, and He conquers all, than of what shall we fear but of our souls to fade away from Him. Repent, for the Kingdom of the Lord is at hand.
We are all called to spread the word of Gad and it is the most important thing we can do. The reason this is the most important thing we can do it is because everyone deserves to know the love God has for them and everyone needs to know about God so they can make it to Heaven. The reason i think its the most important is because the gospel says “BUT WHOEVER OBEYS AND TEACHES THESE COMMANDMENTS WILL BE CALLED GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.”
God didn’t make the 10 commandments to be disobeyed, and Jesus wasn’t sent to destroy the prophecies sent by prophets. We are to not only follow the 10 commandments ourselves, but let others follow them as well. Jesus was sent to remind us of that.
What reached out to me was when it said, “But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments
will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.” What this means to me is that God didn’t give us these rules for nothing. God gave us these rules to help us get to heaven. So we need to follow these rules as best as we can.
It’s telling us that we need to follow the law to be able to enter Heaven. If we break one of his laws we need to ask for forgiveness.
Jesus is saying that we need to follow these laws. Jesus didn’t come down to make new ones, he came down to show us the laws and fulfill them. If we follow the laws the Kingdom of Heaven will be open to us.
This scripture is telling us to fulfill the commandments before we tell others to. A part of the scripture that stuck out to me was when it says ´´therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.¨God is telling us to worry about faith before we judge others in there faith.
Today Jesus is trying to say that for those that do not follow His Commandments will be farther from heaven and those that do follow His commandments will get closer to heaven and be closer than those that do not follow His commandments so he is teaching us that the more we Listen to Him and the more we follow the Commandments we will be closer to him.
This scripture is like saying that we should follow the ten commandments and to know that they are difficult to follow but like in order to go to heaven etc the ten Commandment have a part in going into heaven and that there are serious stuff that could happen if you die and obey all of ten commandments and etc which is why i think Jesus wants us to like try our hardest into trying to follow by going to confession.
In today’s scripture I see that Jesus is trying to warn us that He is the Son of God. And that in these times we need to focus more on the little things than all the other things in life that distract us.
In today’s reading it seem like Jesus is warning us that the Commandment are no tot be broken and that if you do break them and choose to teach others to break the commandments as well then don’t expect to go to heaven with out confession. That all of those who fulfill the Commandment will have everlasting life in heaven.
Jesus is telling us that breaking any commandment is a sin and it doesn’t mater if it is the least important one to us we still need to keep his commandments. But even if we don’t follow a commandment god will still love us rand we will still be one of his children.
I think the scripture is trying to tell us to examine our conscience. When we examine our conscience we might find out what is causing us to sin. God doesn’t want us to sin that’s why he made them. When we ignore what God wants we grow farther away from Him.
This means that everybody in this world is supposed to call out the name of God everywhere you go in the world. If you do not call out Gods name you might not be able to go into heaven you will be going to hell.
I think that this scripture is telling us to follow the commandments, and to obey Jesus. He says this in a way that we all understand, if we do the work we’re supposed to do here on earth we will get to have eternal life with Christ.
It is telling us how important the 10 Commandments truly are, and how we need to take a minute to realize how bad we can be, most of us have a sin that we commit everyday but we don’t think anything of it because we don’t think it’s that bad but if you look at the ten Commandments you will probably see how that sin is probably going against the ten Commandments and we need to realize that how bad that is.
He is telling us that if we do not follow his rules that we will not be with him in heaven. This shows us that we need to make a habit of examining our conciseness and not just let ourselves fall into sin and instead be rewarded with heaven in the end.
If we are teaching the commandments we should be doing them to. If we are not following the 10 Commandments we will have less understanding of them. If we are following them then teach them we will know way more than if we just are teaching them. Lastly if we are telling people to stop something and we keep doing it, we are being a hypocrite.
This scripture is telling us the importance of the Ten Commandments. If we follow them throughout our whole life we go to Heaven and live forever with God.
If we want to get to heaven we need to try not to sin. We can sin less by thinking about what we do before we do it.
I think today’s scripture passage is trying to tell us that if we obey God, we will go to Heaven. If we don’t obey him, we will face consequences. Every commandment is a sin, no matter how serious, so we have to learn to follow God so we can get to Heaven someday.
Jesus says “All things have a place”. We know that in the end, our place is to be in heaven with the trinity. We will be able to praise God forever with the choirs of Angels and saints. Heaven is our home, we just need to learn how to get there.
what the scripture is telling me is that the 10 Commandments are like a set of laws that jesus made for us and we must floow them like we do with the laws that the goverment gives us. we must follow them to get into heaven and if we dont we go purgatory or hell. those basically represent what jail or death row be down here on earth.
This piece of Scripture tells me that God did not send Jesus down from Heaven just to “Boss us around” as if he were another police officer. But rather, Jesus came to fulfill God’s promise and to guide us to Heaven. ““Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.”
I feel like Jesus is talking about how he wants us to spread his word in this. He’s really explaining why to be a missionary. He’s talking about how we should go out and exclaim the word of God. It also talks about keeping the commandments. You could be one of the best religious teachers in the world, but if you are not following the commandments, you are breaking your connection with God.
I think that in the gospel today Jesus is saying that we need to obey him to get to Heaven. We need to follow his commandments and not sin as much as we do.
We are all sinners because we are human, but we have the commandments to guide us to heaven while we are alive. When we break one or more of these commandments, we need to go to confession as soon as we can so we do not have sin on our soul and so we can receive the Eucharist. Even though we may have broke one or more of the commandments, God still loves all of us equally.
What stood out to me was, “The way to true happiness and gaining eternal life.” It stood out to me because when we go to heaven we will have true happiness and we will gain eternal life. Going to heaven is an amazing thing and we will finally be happy. God will be waiting for us in heaven and we should be excited to go to heaven not scared.
What i am getting from today’s scripture is that you should speared Gods word and you will “be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven” of heaven” but if you decide to not do as so and say bad stuff about Gods word you will “be called least in the Kingdom of heaven”
I think this scripture us trying to tell us that we need to confess our sins. If we don’t then it will be harder to get to heaven. Jesus wants us to give us our sins so we may be forgotten. This is why we go to confession so we can give our sins to Christ.
Today the scripture is telling me of the importance of the Ten Commandments. They define what we can and cannot do in the Catholic life.
When I read this passage, I think of how Jesus says he hasn’t come to abolish but fulfill the law. This reminds me of how we still have the Ten Commandments, even though Jesus gave us the Beatitudes. It shows how the Commandments and Beatitudes go hand in hand. I think of this and how I can better grow in holiness by doing both of these, not merely just one or just what is necessary.
Today’s scripture is saying that he did not come to earth to save us from the Romans or the unfair laws but to save us from sin and to open the gates of heaven.
What this scripture reflection says to me is that we all need to try to follow the rules more. Because if we don’t, then we won’t get to heaven, and we will be stuck burning in hell for eternity. But if we do get to heaven, then we will get to eternally praise and worship God for the rest of our lives.
Today, Jesus is confirming that he is infact the Messiah, that he is the one the prophets spoke of, the one the Psalms spoke of, the savior of the world. He says that he is not here to abolish the law, but here to fulfil it. He is the reason the laws were written, so the people could live right, so they could be in line with God and Christ. Yet they did not know that they were following these rules so they could live in a place of happiness spoken about by a simple carpenter. They thought he was crazy, but in fact he was the one they were searching for all along, the savior, the Christ, the Messiah
God tells us that if we want to go to Heaven then our souls need to be completely purified. Even the smallest sin can send you to purgatory. The 10 commandments are to guide us on our path to Heaven so we need to follow that so we can make it to Heaven.
What stuck out to me today was remembering Jesus’s purpose. Many times we feel as if we live in a world full of just rules, which is not true. Yes, we have many rules in order to live and be taught, but it’s much more than that. Today Jesus tells us that he did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill. We can’t just look at what we have to do, or can’t do, but the purpose and intention of them. Many people thought Jesus was bad, when he was the opposite. Why Jesus came is very important and teaches us how to live our life rightly.
In today’s scripture Jesus is telling us that he didn’t just overwrite all of the rules, the old rules are still important, but Jesus is clarifying. the way isn’t different, just changed a bit.
I think it means that if we follow the ten commandments we will become the best people we can. Following the ten commandments will get us to Heaven and Heaven is the goal in life so if we follow the ten commandments we also reach our life goal.
In today’s Gospel, I think that Jesus is telling us that how much effort is being used from us is how much God would honor us in the Kingdom of Heaven. If we do just so little of it, we would be honored but not a lot and if we do so much and teach our neighbors the word of God, we would be honored much more in Heaven. Not only would we help others, but we would help ourselves.
Today Jesus tells us to obey the commandments. It sounds like a simple and easy instruction, but it is more complicated. Everyone sins at some point, which means we fail at obeying the commandments one way or another. But we should still try our best to not sin and to go to confession.
Jesus teaches us the commandments that help us see the path to Heaven. We continuously sin every day and making that a habit. That habit needs to stop. That is why we use the commandments to this day. Jesus knew it was an important thing to learn to He taught us.
In this scripture, Jesus tells us that he has not came her to abolish the law but to fulfill. We cannot sit back and let God do everything for us. Yes, God is a small part in it, but He guides us. We have to make the right choices because we have free will which will decide if we go to heaven or not. We need to have faith in God.
I think this scripture is saying that we have to obey the laws and give our all to Him. Also how this Lent is a perfect time to work on our relationship with God. He awaits for us at the gate of Heaven.
The scripture is telling me that God knows what is right for us and he is gonna lead us to do the right things. God wants all of us to not sin and we have to work on that, we can’t think that we can just go to confession to free us from our sins and then after that we just go sin again. We have to get in the habit of doing what is right over wrong.
In today’s scripture, Jesus says that we must not break any of his commandments or teach others to do so because we will be called least in the kingdom of Heaven. We must spread God’s word and teach other how to live a good, virtuous life. If we proceed to do this, we will be called the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus talks about fulfilling the. He says,”Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.” This reminds me that the earth is not infinite and we will all die. Our bodies are temporary, but our souls are eternal. While we are still on earth we should follow the law. This means we should do the will of God by following our vocation and obeying the ten commandments.
The commandments are not like the laws where sometimes we break them because they aren’t right. The commandments are good and right, but they do weigh something in our lives. When we lie, we think, no big deal, not that important. But God put “Thou shall not lie” in the Ten Commandments for a reason. It is a big deal. For “whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.” Stop and think about your life. Do you break the Ten Commandments often? Are you truly sorry that you do? Have a good examination of conscience, and confess your sins.
I think that in this Gospel passage, Jesus is trying to tell me that when we disobey Him, or His teachings, we are not getting any closer to the Kingdom of God, Heaven. We are falling farther away from God. When we obey Him we get a stronger relationship for us, which makes it easier to get into Heaven.
In today’s Gospel Jesus is telling us that if you don’t follow the 10 Commandments then we are getting further away from Heaven. Jesus teaches us to follow the 10 Commandments because they are the Way, the Truth, and the Light. He wants us to follow the 10 Commandments so we can spend Eternal Life with Him whenever death comes.
This Gospel is saying to listen, to obey, and to really listen to truly understand. We often listen little and talk more and we need to talk less listen more. God is calling us and we are not listening, our parents need us and we are not listening. Listen first.
Today this scripture is talking about how we should live or life the correct way and by using the ten commandments to have rules so that we have a better relationship with Jesus Christ
What I think this is saying is that if you know God is there and real. Then you are already succeeding but you can do more by teaching others and still grow even more in your faith.
Jesus gives us rules that we have to follow. But that is not all that our religion is, our religion starts from a relationship. Because if we do not have a relationship then we don’t have a religion. Jesus did not give us these rules to make us mad and tell us what we can and cannot do. He gave them to us so that we would grow a relationship with him.
I think in this Gospel He is saying that if we don’t sin as much and spread the word of God then they who do that will be the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. He wants us to thrive and be holy, but in order to do that we have to be more like him and be good Catholics.
In today’s scripture reflection Jesus says, “Whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.” This tells me that when I am think about doing a sinful action I should not be encouraging others to do that sinful action and should not be doing that action and instead tell others not to do a sinful action.
To get to heaven we need to help others to get there with us. If we fall and teach others how to fall with us and not go to heaven then we won’t make it. So we need to help others and bring ourselves closer to God to make it to his eternal kingdom
God gave us a brain to think and control our body thoughts actions and words but its up to us to do good things like help someone in need or pray for someone. You can do all of these things to help other people.
This Scripture passage is telling us how we still need to listen to the Ten Commandments. Jesus tells us that he doesn’t come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. He fulfills the commandments by living a perfect life without sinning. This means that we need to follow the same commandments that Jesus and all the prophets and Jews followed to live a life in communion with God. At confession early today we were given a little pamphlet that had all the commandments and it was to help us do our Examination of Conscience which really helps us to gauge how much we are on the path. We should do an Examination of Conscience every day so we will keep ourselves accountable for how close we are to God.
To me this means that if we the people that God made follow these simple rules that God wants us to follow then we will be with him eternally in heaven where we can do anything we really want to do including things like talk to God or see God. Now if we do not follow these simple rules from God then we will spend the rest of our existence in hell with the devil. Never to see and thing that is holy or of good. If you only command some of these things than you will spend time in purgatory where you will be almost graded on how you act their and if you are good you go to heaven forever with our everyone you have loved but if you are bad then you will go down to the depths of hell.
In today’s Gospel Jesus mentions the commandments. I think that is is fitting for today because we went to confession today to confess about the commandments we have broken. Jesus also says what we obey His commandments, we will be called to the kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus says that although He is spreading new laws, He is not abolishing the older ones. He is simply adding on to them, in the name of God. He also says that if we follow and obey these commandments we will go to Heaven and live in perfect peace with Him.
God is not here to punish us, he was here and still is here to guide us. Today he reminds us of the commandments. These commandments are a burden and are hard to follow, but they are here to guide us. We make mistakes and that is human. As I have discovered I am not the only one who sins. Many times we think that we are the only ones who sin, but we could not be further from the truth. In fact everyone sins and it is better to suffer the punishment together. We are being guided though by Jesus away from sin with the commandments. They are hard to follow but it is worth it. Jesus says, “If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
Is our life goal not to get to Heaven? We act like it’s not. I act like I’m living life for fun sometimes. I need to understand that if I have a life that I think is my own, I won’t get to Heaven. All life started with God and will return to God after we die. We should start living like we want to end up in the Kingdom of Heaven. Little kids are such an inspiration to be more like Jesus. When I look at a little kid, especially one from St. Francis, I feel closer to God. It helps me to realize that I need to keep my mind innocent and full of thoughts for Jesus.
In this Gospel God is trying to remind us that we need to follow the commandments. He is telling us that if we obey the law we can reach the ultimate prize of heaven.
Today we are being told that we need to follow the rules if we want to get to heaven. We ignore these rule, but there is still time to confess that we have broken those rules, and we can try again.
Today’s Scripture passage is saying that the 10 Commandments are a big part of being a Catholic and without them we won’t have that example to go by and know how to a better Catholic. With them we will know of Jesus’ love for us and want to follow them and follow our Heavenly Father. The Devil tries puts these thoughts in our head to think that Jesus
is trying to take away our freedom’s or fun by having to follow the Commandments. We need to stop thinking that things get easier in life and having God take way our pain and suffering.
I think this scripture means that all people will be judged. no one can just go to heaven. we have to obey the commandments that we were given
Jesus tells us that He really is the Son of God. He is not a prophet. He fulfills Scripture. He says that everything the prophets have written about the Savior He is going to make true.
The Ten Commandments is a really important set of rules that we need to follow. Even breaking the least important Commandment is still considered a mortal sin, and God knows that. If you don’t go to Confession, then you’re practically saying that you don’t care about God, and you don’t have any remorse about commiting those sins.
I think this scripture is trying to tell us to really try and connect to Jesus while praying. Praying isn’t easy, it’s hard. There’s many things to distract us from Jesus. We need to put our full attention on Jesus and let God take all our worries and thoughts. This takes practice, but if we keep doing it it’ll become a habit, which will become a virtue.
jesus is all was with us
I think the scripture is saying that we should always follow the Ten Commandments no matter how much we find them to be useless or that we decide to ignore them. For everyone who doesn’t follow them will be punished and whoever follows the Ten Commandments will be praised.
I think this means that we shouldn’t pressure others to do evil things, because that gives both them a mark on their soul, and ourselves a larger mark on our souls. It doesn’t matter if we ourselves didn’t do the act, but because we forced someone else to do it, we have a larger sin that we have commited. Don’t be a servant to the devil. Let yourself be protacted by your guardian angel, and stay away from people that you know will ead you to do bad things. Keep yourself closer to those who will lead you to Heaven, and you will have a happier life.
Once your judgement day comes God will not overlook anything that you have done in your life and you will pay the full price for what you have done and wait and ask for forgiveness so you can one day reach the kingdom of God and be with the rest of your family and not have to worry anymore about anything. Not even the smallest sin he will lookover He will watch everything that you do whether it’s good or bad.
The Commandments will play a big part on judgement day. Breaking one or telling others to do say will end in some very severe consequences, but if you obey the Commandments, you will be rewarded for your favor.
What this is saying is that we all sin. We all break the commandments. It is what every human on earth does. But one thing that we can do to prevent ourselves from doing that is asking God for help. If we ask him for help to not break the commandments he will try to help us. And when we do sin and break the commandments we must go to confession so that God can forgive us and we let him know that we are truly sorry for the sins we committed and the commandments we broke.
What I think the commandments are trying to teach are that if we obey God and teach his commandments to others in our life then we will be given life everlasting but, if we do not obey him and don’t tell others about the commandments and teach them from right and wrong about them then we will go into a painful judgement.
I think the Scripture is saying we have to follow the commandments. God did not give us the commandments to take away our fun. He gave us the commandments because He wants us to some day join Him in Heaven. The commandments are not just some rules. The commandments are there so we can get to Heaven. We strive to become saints. If we follow all ten commandments, we can someday join God.
I think that the Scripture is telling us to go and teach the Ten Commandments to others and you will be welcomed into Heaven however if you don’t and go a tell people to do things that do the opposite of the Ten Commandments then you will not be welcomed into Heaven like you would have been if you followed the Ten Commandments.
Today the Gospel is talking about the ten commandments. Jesus says that if we follow his commandments we will make it heaven. We will be called greatest in heaven. If we do not follow the ten commandment we will be the least in heaven.
I think what Jesus is telling me is that we need to learn how to obey. Really we all think we obey our Country’s laws but do we obey God? Most people would say I somewhat do but I am human so I make mistakes. Really God is just saying follow me and what I say and you will get to Heaven. He isn’t trying to bear so much laws and stuff on us he is just trying to save us from going to Hell.
This scripture reflection today has a lot of good meanings. I think the scripture today is telling us that Jesus is like warning us that the Commandments are not to be broken and that if you happen to break them and try to teach others to break them as well then don’t expect to go to Heaven without confession. Jesus will always forgive but we have to be truly sorry. That also can go the other way, those who fulfill the commandments will have an everlasting life with Jesus is Heaven.
The Gospel says today,”Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away,
not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter
will pass from the law,” I feel like this is telling us even if we do the tinniest of sins. It is still a sin.
The scripture is telling us that the commandments carry weight, both literally and metaphorcally. Literally because everything has weight. Metaphorcally because carrying The Ten Commandments on your back for your whole life is tough. Think of The Ten Commandments as a baby. You gotta take care of it. When you sin you drop the baby. Then the doctors come in (aka Confession) and fix the baby right. If you drop the baby too many times and refuse to call the doctors, the baby dies and it’s off to jail (aka hell) for you. My point is, make The Ten Commandments a part of your life.
Jesus tells us that we should follow His commandments. We should follow the ten commandments. Jesus tells us to do this because He wants us to be closer to Him. He leads us away from sin. God wants the best for us.
This scripture is telling me to follow the commandments. For whoever teaches and follows the commandments are called the greatest of Heaven.
This is telling us that we should follow the commandments. It is proving to us how so.
This gospel is talking about the ten commandments and how they are so important. We have them because without them we could tell what to do or what is the right thing and the wrong thing. And they play a big part about what God will say about you on judgment day.
God is telling us that we should not be afraid to die. When we die God is waiting for us in heaven.
I think this scripture is telling us that we all have original sin given to us when we were born and God understands that but we have an extra opportunity this lent to rejoice Jesus and pray to him. I also think this scripture is telling us to obey him and we will have eternal life.
If we want to follow the faith and grow in it, we must go to Confession. We are all sinners, but God still loves us no matter what. He will always forgive us even if we don’t forgive ourselves
