Listen to the Word of God at First Friday Mass and Benediction!

Today, Jesus continues to seek people of faith.  What is Faith?  The Catechism of our Catholic Church states, “Abraham thus fulfills the definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1: “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen”:7 “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.”8 Because he was “strong in his faith,” Abraham became the “father of all who believe.”9(1819) and “Faith is man’s response to God, who reveals himself and gives himself to man, at the same time bringing man a superabundant light as he searches for the ultimate meaning of his life. Thus we shall consider first that search (Chapter One), then the divine Revelation by which God comes to meet man (Chapter Two), and finally the response of faith (Chapter Three).  This is the beginning of the Creed, “We believe”.
Two blind men seek Jesus and ask him to cure their blindness.  Christ responds, “Do you believe I can do this?”  They respond, “Yes, Lord” and Jesus says, “Let it be done for you according to your faith.”
In this Advent season of 2014 as a 12-14 year old, where is your faith.  What you hope for in your future, what you believe even though you can’t see it yet?  What is your purpose and how does God fit into your purpose, future, and what you believe?  Take time to reflect today on these very important questions.
