“THOSE WHO ARE WELL DO NOT NEED A PHYSICIAN, BUT THE SICK DO.” MT 9:9-13
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
As Jesus passed by,
he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post.
He said to him, “Follow me.”
And he got up and followed him.
While he was at table in his house,
many tax collectors and sinners came
and sat with Jesus and his disciples.
The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples,
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
He heard this and said,
“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words,
I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” MT 9:9-13
As humans, we like to put people in categories or label them. We do this starting at a very young age. We create such labels as dumb jock, nerd, ugly, pretty, smart, funny, popular, athletic, tech savvy, gamer, etc. Sometimes we take it a step further and we can be racist. These labels tend to stick and sadly some people start to believe in them.
We label ourselves in our own minds and start to believe we can or cannot do something. We sometimes judge quickly by appearance or we judge someone by what they say. A person’s color of skin, how much money they have or don’t have, or a person’s religion can make us feel uncomfortable.
“Comparison is the thief of joy” says Teddy Roosevelt and Mark Twain says “Comparison is the death of joy”. Find out who God made YOU to be and what His path for you is back to Him. This is how we are glorified through Him and how we glorify Him.
God is the Father of us all. Jesus sees us on an equal playing field as sinners. If we are striving for holiness, we too must change the way we see people and treat people. Jesus showed us compassion and shows compassion to the greatest of sinners. Who else do those who have sinned the greatest have to turn to. As humans we stop helping or forgiving at some point. We must see Jesus in each other and accept each other as sinners.
Today, Jesus chooses one of His Apostles from a group of public sinners, tax collectors. They collected taxes from the people and returned the money to the governor of that area. Many times the tax collectors were very wealthy because they had pocketed some of the money before they took it back to the governor.
By today’s standards this sin would be worthy of excommunication from the Church much like abortion is today. This is who Jesus chose to represent the 12 tribes of Israel, to be one of the first bishops, to be seated in a high place in heaven with Him? Really? This reminds me of the seminarian poster for our diocese a couple of years ago, “God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” Everyone is a sinner called to be transformed by the blood of Christ!
Everyone is a sinner who needs God’s mercy. God never tires of forgiving. Have you accepted yourself as a sinner? I have come to know Jesus Christ better through my sin and suffering more than anything else. My sin and suffering have led me on my knees back to Him and into some deep silent prayer with Him.
I have asked Him to be with me in my moments of temptation and suffering. We must stop putting ourselves above others. This is how part of our ego works. When we criticize others, it keeps us on top. We feed our ego. We need to stop labeling and judging (unless it is based on the 10 commandments and we need to keep rule) and start being compassionate, suffer with people (Is there anyone who doesn’t suffer something?)
We need to stop judging and labeling ourselves. Accept your identity as a beloved son and daughter of God through Baptism. You are never alone, you have a purpose and mission, and you are always loved. Rest in the security of this love so that you can be happy!
God can’t lie and He promises us these things. He is with us always. So, instead of relying on human opinion and your own opinion of yourself which is based off of everyone else’s opinions, talk to God everyday and ask Him what He made you for. Ask Him what your mission and purpose are, your vocation.
God is your Creator and knows exactly what He made you for. He has big dreams for you! So, when Jesus comes to you and says, “Follow me” we are ready for the greatest adventure in this life and we will be prepared to be holy and enter into eternal life with Him. Matthew’s story of conversion is important for us to reflect on because it is our conversion story, too!
Today’s challenge: Have mercy on someone like God always has mercy on you. Start with the person right next to you in your home. Be ready for God’s call. Say an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be every day for your vocation. Ask God what He made you for!
Be a servant, become a saint!
#Christian YOLO
“I desire mercy, not sacrifice.” Jesus wants us to help the poor in spirit, not hurt them. Someone might be having doubts about the faith but that doesn’t mean the’re any less than you and me. TREAT ALL WITH RESPECT.
My favorite part of scripture was, we all label eachother everyone has a label to their name they can be nerd, ugly, pretty, smart, funny, popular, athletic, gamer, etc. but in God’s eyes he views us as his children in a battle field of sin and he always forgives us our label should be sinner because we have all sinned and sin nearly every day. So we learned that we shouldnt label people we are family we need to help eachother to get to heaven.
This part really stuck out to me.
“I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”
I think it stuck out to me because It is Jesus telling us that He came to save sinners he came to help us. If we were all perfect and we never sinned then we wouldn’t need Jesus. But we aren’t we all make mistakes and sin so He came for us to help us be more like Him and follow his footsteps.
Today’s scriptures say that just because someone is a sinner doesn’t mean they are to far gone to be saved because Jesus can and will forgive every sin that you bring to him. This applies to us because not only are we sinners but we also label each other so often that the names stick and we start beliving that they are true but they aren’t.
Jesus came to call sinners, not the righteous. This stuck out to me because we are all sinners. Those who claim they don’t sin are lying. Jesus came because we are all sinners under His mercy. He saved us from our sins and the weight of the world was on Him.
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” This stuck out to me because so many people think that God could never love a sinner and that God forgets about them if they are a sinner but that’s not true at all. god loves everyone no matter if he gets the same love back. He will never forget or ignore you no matter what you’ve done.
“I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” This phrase stuck out to me because the rich and the people who think they are better than everyone don’t think they need to be called by God. The sinners humble themselves to God and they look up to Him. We need to be like the sinners and humble ourselves and let God come into our life.
Today’s scriptures say that just because someone is a sinner doesn’t mean they are to far gone to be saved because Jesus can and will forgive every sin that you bring to him. This applies to us because not only are we sinners but we also label each other so often that the names stick and we start beliving that they are true but the aren’t.
Sometimes we feel as if we don’t deserve God, or I won’t go to heaven because I did this, or that, or Jesus doesn’t talk or care about me. The reality is that we are sinners, and Jesus calls the sinners to be with him. He comes down to our level to guide us to be with him. So that he can help us be holy.
Today scripture said to me that Jesus loves us no matter what. In scripture he sits with sinners and tax collectors and gets criticized for this. We are humans and because of this we make assumptions or judge people when we meet them. There is always some good in bad that is what makes it so scary because they are not so different from what we are. so we have no right to judge others till we ourselves truly give up all we have and follow Christ. Even then Christ teaches us to be kind and love everyone treat others as you want to be treated. So just always be kind to others even when it is difficult.
What stuck out to me was “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.” This tells us that Jesus did not come to only teach believers but to teach everyone. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others and focus on us. It doesn’t matter what others think because God is the only one who can judge us truly. We should only care about doing what God wants us to do and listen so we can do it. We are all humans and we are all loved by God and we need to respect that. We all sin and we should not single someone out for sinning because so does everyone else. God is always with us.
When people label you, that can hurt. It can show that they don’t believe in you, or they only think of you in a certain way, not for all that you are. Sometimes this can get us into a funk, but we just need to prove them wrong. To show that you are all of you, not just your smarts, or your looks, or your athleticism, but your personality, brains, skill, and talents all in one person. BUT! We must not label ourselves! Doing this will make us believe those labels about ourselves. Then we believe that we are bad, or that we are only important because we are smart, or funny, or pretty, or athletic. If we believe these things, we actually block ourselves from exploring new things, or seeing all of ourself, because we define OURSELVES to be something less than we are. But! God knows who we are! When you pray and you ask for God to accept you, He will help you accept and know yourself!
what I saw in this text is that his disciples were following Jesus after he told them too. This si what he’s doing to us at every mass, every hour, every minute even. What also stood out to me is that we like to put people in categories or label them. Why judge, where does it get you at the end of the day. It’s for our ego but even that dosen’t help us with anything. Dont label oursleves either we’re perfect
The phrase that stuck out to me was: “As Jesus passed by,he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post.He said to him, “Follow me.”And he got up and followed him.”
I think that this is a great example, of what we should do. We can follow Jesus, He is our Savior, he cares about us, we just need to be open, and care for him.
God never stops loving us, even if we are sinners. When we think God will never forgive us, He forgives us.
“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” MT 9:9-13
This stuck out to me because the people who do not know Jesus God pulls them in closer and tighter to him and the ones who know his name and are his followers are called out to preach and spread the word of the Lord. We are all meant to be his followers and it may take longer to do that then others but our purpose here is a test for enterinity where you wanna spend forever at and our actions now count towards that.
we get title every day popular ugly pretty anything you get know by that everyone. Everyone has a title its not just you believe me but Jesus excepts us all into his home he will always be there with us through all the titles we get but he also get the titles we get or that others get so if you call someone stupid you call Him stupid so by herting others your hearting you chance to get to heaven so be nice and give nice titles to everyone becues there’s are going back to God he knows every thing you cant hide it from him.
Something that really stuck out to me was that Jesus asked Matthew if he could come over to his house even though at that time Matthew was a tax collector and doing very sinful things. That shows that even if you had a bad or sinful past life you can still become holy and go to heaven.
When Jesus said, “Follow me,” this taught me to learn to follow Jesus Christ with all your love and power.
When we love Jesus, we have to love the Mass and donate to help the Church for good causes. When we do this, we can get into Heaven and see Jesus’ kingdom with all the Saints and angels.
there was a line that I saw( Jesus walked by a man and said to follow him, so he followed Jesus)I think that is a good example of how we should always follow Jesus because he loves us and we should trust him.
The Scripture said to me that even if we are sinners God will always love us. God will always forgive us even if you turn your back on him he will always welcome you back. “God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” this stuck to me because he always welcomes us.
We get labeled off of our looks or persontailty which that is not right everyone has a title.Every sinner needs God mercy,God will always love us and is always with us through the good and bad times.
“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.“ I think what Jesus means by that is that those with a dirty soul need to confess like how a physically sick person needs a physician. So if you have a clean soul you will not need to confess but once you dirty it again you will need to confess.
i like how he says he is the teacher because if we lioson to him like we focus in class then we will know how to get to heaven and avoid sinning like the tax collector’s did.another part that stuck out to me is how we put labels on people and judge them at what we put on people because god will judge us like how we judge people by putting bad labels on them
We are all sinners that needs God’s mercy. If we know this than we shouldn’t judge people because we all sin, but we should also know that God is always ready to forgive us, even if we might not be able to forgive ourselves. We were all made in the image and likeness of God, no matter what we look like on the outside.
Jesus could be telling us that all our sins don’t make us better or worse than anyone even him.
Everyone is a sinner called to be transformed by the blood of Christ! It doesn’t matter if you are popular or an ‘outcast’ we are all sinners. Jesus could’ve asked someone who was big in the city but he chose those who were tax collectors because it doesn’t matter to Him or to God. We are all sinners and it doesn’t matter how others look at us it is how God looks at us.
I think the Lord is trying to tell us that we should love and care for everyone no matter what. We should not label any one that we haven’t even met. We need to care for the poor or even people you don’t like that much like a friend.
What stood out to me was that the other people were questioning the disciples asking why their teacher eats with the sinners and the tax collectors and I feel that is what we often do everyday we judge and judge we never get to sit down and get to know others.
Everyone has a title, no matter who it is. We shouldn’t feel like we’re the only one and we are alone when this happens. Jesus loves us and God made everyone perfectly. Saying that someone is ugly or not pretty, is human standards, not God’s standards. He loves you even though we sin every single day. And when we sin, we might feel alone. Although, Jesus is with us sinners and loves us.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that we are all sinners. He came down from Heaven to help the sinners not the righteous. “I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” He is also telling us that He forgives anyone if they ask for forgiveness. He is so merciful and forgiving that at any time we need forgiveness He gives it to us.
Someone asked Jesus, “why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” I think Jesus ate with him to show that everyone, even sinners could be with him if they let him into their life.
“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” This is the phrase I chose stuck out to me because he did not come to this earth to make it seem like we should be the best to be with god, but to be humiliated and give up everything we have.
We should not compare ourselves to others and we give others labels. We might give them a good label or a bad label, but by labeling them and calling them a name we are also labeling and calling Jesus a name. Also, God came to the sinners instead of the righteous because the sinners needed Him to help them.
When it says “I desire mercy, not sacrifice”, I think it means we need to help the people who not everyone wants to help. We need to reach out to those who might or are struggling. We need to treat others with respect. We need to go out of the comfort of are own home to help, because there are others, all around, who need help.
In the phrase,’The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples,
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
He heard this and said,
“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words,
I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” Jesus is telling us that you have a name of something good or bad and he will still love us forever and he is willing to do anything for us,you might have a bad title but you still have your name of one of Jesus’ children.
I think what Jesus is telling us this time is that we need to be less judgmental and get to know someone personally, like roosevelt said comparison is the thief of joy.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us we are all sinners. He will still let us in even when we sin. He will never make us feel unwelcome he loves us no matter what.
we are sinners but god will forgive us
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners. I think that you have to be perfect and super holy to get to Heaven. All I have to do is be myself, listen to God when he speaks, and be kind to others.
“I desire mercy, not sacrifice.” We all tend to judge people or ourselves all the time. Saying mean things to those around us. We need to show more mercy, like Christ did.
Something that stuck out to me was that even though that Matthew is a very sinful man he still asked if he could come over to his house for food and that even though he was very sinful he changed his life so that he could go to heaven with Jesus.
Jesus is telling us that even if we are sinners. he always wants us with him and he still loves us like his apostles very equally. and that’s something we need to know because of God forgiving our sins and and still represents us not as a sinner but a lamb that is lost and needs to be returned.
“he said to him, Follow me.” that stuck out to me because Mathew didn’t even doubt is should follow him or not. He just knew that it was the right thing to do. I think that If we really listen to God, we will know what the right think is to do, and when.
I think that what the reading meant that those who sin more are the ones that the most help from Jesus. Jesus is a doctor and we are is patients that need help from him to be more like him.
Jesus wants to help you but you want something else but if you want mercy you have to follow Jesus Christ to get that mercy to go to heaven and to life forever in God image.
today’s scripture is about how it does not matter who you are Jesus died for you and he loves you
Jesus says in this verse that the healthy don’t need a physician, but the sick do. The Religious and Holy people do not need Jesus as much as the sinners do. Jesus came for the sinners, not for the “healthy”. “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” Jesus wants to forgive us, not to exile us.
We are being to judgmental of ourselves and others. God did not make us to be judgmental he wants us to be holy and caring.
The part that stood out to me was “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.” I really like it because we should desire mercy and not sacrifice. We should also not compare ourselves to others and do what is right for you and your body. people should also not care what others think and be their own person.
A part that really stuck out to me… Is “Comparison is a thief of joy”.. We try and compare our selfs to others and think we are not as good as them. We are all human beings and God made us for who we are. We give eachother labels. And that we need to find out who God made US to be.
Jesus loves everyone equally. He stooped down to help the lowest of all people. Because of this we should not think of other people as better just because they are prettier or more athletic or smarter than us.
Jesus is trying to tell us not to tear someone down to make you feel better but build them up.
Today Jesus tells us that even if something seems different, bad, or out of place, everything is done for a reason. The pharicies thought that hanging out with a sinner is wrong, but Jesus hangs out with them to teach them to be better.
“Follow me.” I think this means to follow in his footsteps,to love god,and to stay on the path of god
Jesus is saying that he still loves his sinners and not to judge people for sins because we sin. When they ask why does he eat with them he wants them to know that even if you sin he still loves you and will not judge you.
God will never stop loving us ,and the lord is trying to tell us that we should love and care for everyone.
A part that stuck out to me, is that we need to stop judging and labeling ourselves. Accept your identity as a beloved son and daughter of God through baptism. You are never alone you have a purpose and mission you are always loved. The reason that stuck out to me is because judging your self is wrong and we should be like jesus
i think it means that even if we sin or even if we are jealous of others or not happy with ourselves, God loves us and thinks we are amazing the way we are. and we need to see that in ourselves because we are all made in Gods image.
We are not perfect and we are sinners but God will forgive us.
This is telling us that no matter how much we sin, Jesus will always give us a chance to confess, and let us into His life
I think this really stuck out to me “I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” I thnk this mean he came to save the sinners and bring us to joy and to do good for other people.
Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words
He was saying that they needed help to understand what they were doing wrong and how they could stop.
“I did not come to call the righteous but sinners” When God comes to help us, he does not do so to those that believe they are better than God. He instead comes to those to call to Him, to those who have no one else to turn to. He does not seek to exclude anyone, but if they refuse him, they have chosen their own path.
We are sinners. All of us but Jesus calls us. We have to follow willingly. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you need to pray. We should be ourselves, not who other people want us to be. That is how God made us, as ourselves.
This parable shows that God will help you if you ask Him. And most of the time it doesn´t happen right away. As long as we have faith in God He will heal us.
This scripture is speaking to us in the way Jesus invites the sinners (us) to the mass. Jesus doesn’t need the Mass but we the tax collectors do.
Today Jesus tells us He will eat with the sinners. Why would He do that? He also asks us a very important question. ““Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.” So what do there word’s mean? Today Jesus tells us He will stoop so low as to sit with the sinners. Well that’s us. Every single day we sin but He will still sit with us because He loves us.
Jesus only wants us to be ourselves and to follow him. we shouldn’t care about what others think except for us. we shouldn’t compare our selves to others Jesus does not care about that stuff he only cares about what actually matters.
“I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” We are all sinners. We need to accept that we are human and all make mistakes. We should love God and trust that everything happens for a reason. We need to show our mercy towards God and make little sacrifices to show our gratitude for his great sacrifice.
What I think Jesus is telling me is that we are not perfect and we are sinners but no matter what He will always love us, He will also always forgive us.
Jesus says that “I need mercy not sacrifice.” It means that he wants to see mercy in sinners, not people to sacrifice. We should show Him as sinners, mercy and help.
Today Jesus tells us that we need Jesus because we are sinners. He tells us that we are not supposed to leave people out because they aren’t popular or bullied. Jesus tells us that we need people. We can figure out that Jesus doesn’t want us to call people names or because they like to do something different than everyone else.
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. This stuck out to me because Jesus did not come down to Earth to only care about the wealthy and the ones who didn’t sin, He came to die for the ones who sin and help them get to Heaven. He doesn’t want only the ones who don’t sin in Heaven, He wants everyone. So He came down to die for us, the sinners.
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
The pharasees couldn’t comprehend why Jesus was willing to eat with a tax collecter. Jesus didn’t come to earth to party with the pharisees or the holy people. He came down for sinners. he came down for us.
Jesus loves us no matter who we are. We could be the most beautiful person on earth ( to the beauty standers of today ) or we could be the most richest person on the planet or the poorest person on the planet but Jesus will never stop loving you. Everyone deserves love no matter what. Money and looks and objects are not everything in life. Don’t waste your time wishing you had something you don’t because there is nowhere NEAR ENOUGH to satisfy anyone. And don’t be afraid of the Lord don’t feel like you’re not worthy of his love because everyone is worthy of the Lords love no matter what you have done you will be forgiven.
AS humans we sin and sometimes forget to confess, we are the people who are not clean and cannot be touched by Jesus or God until they are washed away.
We are sinners and believers of God, though we believe in him does not mean we put our faith in him.
we shouldn’t label anyone or ourselves, but always remeber that God loves us.
Jesus will always forgive us for our sins. He will always love us and accept us because we are his children. He knows we are sinners but he still wants us to be with him in heaven. He has eternal love for us.
I think the Lord is trying to tell us that we should love. Care for everyone no matter what. We should not label any one that we haven’t even met if we need to care for the poor or even people you don’t like that much like a friend.
what i learn is that Jesus is here for us if we sin not here for us if we were perfect hes here to help anyone who needs him and that he loves us even if we sin
In this scripture reflection I learned that God loves everybody and to not judge other and put them in catagories. Also to love everyone equally and fully.
I like this passage because it tells us that Jesus would accept anyone even tax collectors the hated people. Jesus does not care about our reputation just about our heart and soul and true intentions and beliefs.
This passage shows the love and grace of God. even though the tax collectors and sinners werent perfect, Jesus was still willing to give them a second chance. Its almost like going to confession. We sin so much, and just a couple simple words disregard all of that sin.
we are all sinners, we all lie, we all gosip, and we all disobey. theres no way around it.God made us perfectly imperfect. he loves us no matter what there is nothing you can do that could turn him against you. Jesus loves you!
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that no matter what He is there for us. If the sick needs a doctor our marked souls need Jesus.
Jesus eats with Matthew the tax collector, the other few apostles are confused as to why Jesus would eat with such an unholy man. But Jesus says, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.” This means that the people who follow the law of Christ to the fullest, who do not disobey God, who love God and Jesus with everything they do, do not need to be called to Christ because they already have. Jesus is saying that He must call upon those who are not as inclined to be with the faith as others are. This is what Heaven will be like, where saints and sinners will feast on the body of Christ together as one.
Today we read about St. Matthew’s feast day and conversion. Jesus is questioned when sinners and tax collectors come to sit with Him. We tend to judge the book by its cover and its contents. God made each and everyone of us on purpose. Knowing this we should respect that everyone should be loved and valued.
Everyone is a sinner, we all need God’s forgiveness. God is our creator so He obviously knows what we are meant to do, it’s not the end of the world if we sin 1 time but it sooner or later will be if we don’t make it a habit to confess those sins. We must let him guide us in the right direction, maybe get off the screens for like 10 minutes to pray.
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
this quote really stuck out to me because we are all tax collectors and sinners but he still loves us no matter how bad we are or what we have done he still loves us
My favorite part was that we could not be popular or not the smartest at something but in God’s point of view we are children of God and he made us how he wanted us to be. So we don’t have to be perfect at doing everything.
God is the Father of us all. We have an Almighty Father and a father living with us. The father with us is always by our side but our Father is always living in our hearts. We are Princes and Princesses because He is the ruler of the earth and we are His sons and daughters.
We need to stop judging and labeling oursleves because God made us in his own liking. And we have a purpose and mission in life, and we should never be lonely.
The part that stuck out to me the most was when Jesus said, “I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” it stuck out to me because Jesus came to save us, the sinners. If we were perfect we wouldn’t need to be saved, but we’re not, we’re all sinners. He came to teach us to follow His footsteps
Jesus came down from heaven so he could save us. we are all sinners the more we sin the more we realize that we need Him. we all need Him in our lives. Jesus is an essential part of our life. He helps those who need Him. are you letting Him help you?
Jesus calls sinners because none of us are too far gone to be saved. he chooses us and lifts us up, hoping that we can go to heaven to be with him.
It stuck out to me when god said that we are all his children as in we are all children of god and we are all special in our own way and we shouldn’t compare ourselves.
Something that really stuck out to me was that Jesus asked Matthew if he could come over to his house even though at that time Matthew was a tax collector.
A part that stuck out to me is that if we sin God will always forgive us a love us no matter the cost.
“As humans, we like to put people in categories or label them. We do this starting at a very young age. We create such labels as dumb jock, nerd, ugly, pretty, smart, funny, popular, athletic, tech savvy, gamer, etc. Sometimes we take it a step further and we can be racist. These labels tend to stick and sadly some people start to believe in them.” This couldn’t be more true because sadly this is whats happening in our daily lives.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us to love eachother.
This reminds me a lot about loving everyone equally no matter who we are. Jesus loves everyone equally no matter who they are. Whether they are the worst person on Earth or the best person on Earth, Jesus loves all of us equally.
The way that Mathew heard Jesus call him and instantly got up and left to me this is inspirational.
We need to believe in Jesus because some people are sinners so we need to pray for the ones who need it more and to help them. When we pray we get closer to him and our final goal is to get to heaven even though we are all sinners and we cant just say oh hes a sinner even when we are too.
I learned that Jesus is a man of fairness and equality. He ate with the tax collectors, and sinners, and the holy, showing us that he is truly there for us. “I did not come to call the righteous, but the sinners. This sticks out to me because it shows that no one is to far from his grace and that he wishes for us to go to heaven
It said in the scripture “why does your teacher eat with the tax collectors and sinners?” Jesus always forgives us and never forgets about us. God will always love us even when we do the worst of things. He will always be there for us and do everything he can to guide us through the right path.
what stuck out to me is that We need to stop judging and labeling ourselves we should just go off of who is us and who we are we dont need to judge other people too yourself and we dont need to compare ourselves to other people too.
we get made fun of because of personality and looks.
something that had stuck out to me was “Comparison is a thief of joy.” This stuck out to me because we shouldn’t care on what other people think of us as because when you focus on what other people think of you then you wont ever focus on yourself
I think Jesus is telling us that we should not label anyone or ourselves. God told us not to Judge people but instead help them and be kind to them so we can all go to Heaven.
I think what this is trying to tell us is that we are all sinners and that we should not think that we are less than someone because of others looks and or what other people label us as we should just know that we are all made in the image of God and we are all beautiful and or hansom because we were made in the image of God.
the lord says that we should always forgive the evil people do and what we do our selves and we should not display anger and hatred to those we have forgave even when they have done so much to you.
I think when Jesus tells Matthew to follow him he is saying to us that anyone can follow him because he loves all, and when he sits with the tax collecters it means the same thing.
Jesus will save us and be there for us whenever and always. “I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” He is calling us, each and every one of us to do something, to follow him. He loves us and came to save us.
You are never alone, you have a purpose and mission, and you are always loved. That stuck out to me because sometimes people think that they are ugly or not good enough but everyone is a son or daughter of God and he loves us no matter what.
Jesus said “I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” this means it does not matter if you are a sinner or not Jesus died on the cross for us the sinners.
God made us one by one specially, God does not like us labeling our selfs.
I think Jesus is telling us he loves us. Jesus said “follow me” to Matthew and Jesus doesn’t care if they are tax collectors or sinners.
This scripture is about accepting people for who they are. Also to be as nice as you can to everyone even if they aren’t very nice to you. It is about how Jesus accepts everyone no matter how many sins you have because everyone is a sinner. Another thing it is about is that people can change but they can’t change if you don’t give them a chance like Jesus did.
we cant be putting false and rude labels as someones name and call them that.
it could also be used in a good way to be nice to someone by calling them smart or funny
it matters how you use the labels because it could hurt someones feelings.
I think what it is trying to tell us that we equal and no one is less than someone else because of the way they act or look. We are all the same because we are all made in the image of God.
