“HE MAKES THE DEAF HEAR AND THE MUTE SPEAK.” MK 7:37

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate (completely and totally give yourself, all that you have and all that you are) yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Again Jesus left the district of Tyre
and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee,
into the district of the Decapolis.
And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment
and begged him to lay his hand on him.
He took him off by himself away from the crowd.
He put his finger into the man’s ears
and, spitting, touched his tongue;
then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him,
“Ephphatha!”— that is, “Be opened!” —
And immediately the man’s ears were opened,
his speech impediment was removed,
and he spoke plainly.
He ordered them not to tell anyone.
But the more he ordered them not to,
the more they proclaimed it.
They were exceedingly astonished and they said,
“He has done all things well.
He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” Mk 7:31-37

Jesus has the power to heal. In doing so He fulfills many prophecies about who He is, the Messiah, the Christ, the Son of God. It shows His Divinity. Today, I would like to focus on spiritual deafness. We live in a world filled with noise (if you let it be that way, self-control is a fruit of the Spirit). Every day we have a choice to allow our eyes to see and ears to hear certain things. Each time we turn on the TV, any screen time, read a book, listen to music, listen to our parents, priests, teachers, coaches, Jesus in the Gospel, spiritual books, Christian music, our beliefs or what we belong to are being formed.

What are you allowing your eyes to see and ears to listen to? Anything we listen to and watch that is not from Jesus is a lie.  Most importantly, God teaches us that He speaks to us in a “still small voice”. Train your eyes and ears to see Jesus in each person you meet today, to see the good in each person, to see all of the blessings God has bestowed on you, to see the positive things being achieved in the world around you. Train your eyes and ears to see with God’s eyes instead of human eyes, it will change the way you live your life. Miracles continue to happen today, take some time to see them with your spiritual eyes.

Today’s challenge: Turn the noise off and listen, spend 2 minutes or more in silence!

Be not afraid, become a saint!
