Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
Asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come,
Jesus said in reply,
“The coming of the Kingdom of God cannot be observed,
and no one will announce, ‘Look, here it is,’ or, ‘There it is.’
For behold, the Kingdom of God is among you.”
Then he said to his disciples,
“The days will come when you will long to see
one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.
There will be those who will say to you,
‘Look, there he is,’ or ‘Look, here he is.’
Do not go off, do not run in pursuit.
For just as lightning flashes
and lights up the sky from one side to the other,
so will the Son of Man be in his day.
But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation.” LK 17:20-25
Jesus answers a question today that is always a heavy topic, when will God’s Kingdom come. Jesus answers, “For behold, the Kingdom of God is among you.” He also remarks, “But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation.” Finally, in MT 20:28 Jesus says, “Lo, I am with you always to the end of the age.” What does this mean? We can live our lives thinking about God in two ways. One, He is an old man really far away sitting on a cloud (not personal or present). Or two, which is what Jesus is teaching us today. He is present right now (Jesus speaking right to the Pharisees) and he promises He will be with us always.
How do I know? The Eucharist, the Blessed Sacrament, the Holy Spirit in all baptized people guiding the Church and us individually, in the sunrise and sunset, the mountains and oceans, the stars, moon, and sun. Most importantly, because He said so and I believe and trust Him. Jesus said He must suffer greatly predicting His passion. The Catholic Church had the end of the world pegged a long time ago. The world ended when Jesus died on the cross and resurrected conquering sin and death. We no longer have to live with Original Sin, the gates of heaven are open, we have the Holy Spirit in us, we have God’s grace in the sacraments that Jesus set up while on earth, we have the Eucharist and confession, prayer, as we wait for the Second Coming. We are living in the end times with the power and opportunity to be holy each day. It lies within us. Take time to sit in silence and listen!
Today’s challenge: Stop living like God is so far away when He is right here with you always, it makes a huge difference in the way you view things and live your life! God is with us, wow! If you can wrap your mind around God’s true presence at Mass and in the Blessed Sacrament, you will be at peace and never want to leave.
Be a servant, become a saint!
#Christian YOLO
I can reflect on this by not taking God’s sacrifice for granted and start praying to him more and strive to get to heaven.
Jesus will light up the sky. Just like lightning. The kingdom of God is always near us.
I will still believe in God even when everyone tells me not to
How I can apply this to my daily life is by really recognizing and receiving gods gifts.
When we get baptized we have original sin and we also believe God all these things are leading us to God and going into heaven.
I think since we are humans we do not seek what is right, but what we think is right. In this way, we are seeking popularity or money or earthly things that we can’t bring into heaven with us instead of seeking God’s way, truth, and life and seeing the trinity in everyone we encounter in our everyday life.
i can apply this to my life by living in the present. To not worry about the past or the future that is yet to come. I will focus on what is in front of me and make sure that God is apart of my life in every way possible.
I look at God as a person that is always present and is watching every thing I do whether it is good or bad. I can not see Jesus up in the sky on a cloud looking down at us because the scripture has shown me that he is not the type of person to sit on a cloud.
I can apply this to my life by getting outside more and doing stuff with my family and go t to daily mass with them. Because as the passage said God is here with us
In today’s scripture passage God doesn’t want us to run from the coming of the Kingdom of God but instead worship the Son of man who has to suffer and be rejected because of our sins, to open the gates for us.
I can put this in my life by knowing that Jesus is right by us and can take us to the kingdom of heaven. He has to be rejected by his people then he will come to us and take us with him to the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus is telling us to WAKE UP. We need to lift our eyes up and pay attention, because as the Lord said, “No one will say to you ‘look there he is’.” If we don’t believe that God is personally with us, then we’ll have a miserable eternity in Hell, with nobody to save us.
Also Mr. Goertz, I found an error on your St. Luke test. The Roman centurion said ‘that my servant will be healed’ and not ‘that my soul will be healed’. Just wanted to point that out! Thanks for everything!
I can apply this to my life by, being patient with my siblings, and friend, the passage said “The days will come when you will long to see
one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.” I can also look for the little thing in life.
I can apply this to my life by not thinking when is Jesus coming, or be surprised when the day comes, but know that God is with us now and will always be. It is important to know that, and to not just believe that he is with u only sometimes like “When you are praying, when you are at mass, or adoration.” But to know that no matter what happens and where you are Jesus is always with you and there for you.
This tells us that the kingdom of God is among us. It is not something distant, it is right where we are. God is with us and not far away and unreachable.
Jesus is telling us that we are always with him, whether we believe it or not, and for me this means that Jesus always loves us, always is with us and knows us more than we do. Jesus came died on the cross and ended the world and stopped sin and death. People just need to realize that Jesus is always with us
What I can take away from this is that everyone wants to go to the Kingdom of God even people ask when is it coming but Jesus says that we can’t observe it nor can we announce that it is here. Jesus says he will always be with us and won’t leave us. I choose to believe that no matter who or where you’re at he is there with you.
That Jesus is among us, so we don’t have to look for him.
I like what Mr. Goertz says. He says for us to be ready for when Jesus comes. Now, are you ready? I am not. In fact, I am a little scared. Honestly, somethings in life won’t go as you like. No one wants to die, but we know that God will take us into heaven if we are ready. Today, I had a dream. I was on the highway with my cousins. We were going to the mall when all of a sudden, the sky grew dark, but the sun was still out. In fact, the sun was enormous. The moon was on the other side, but it was square. Then the sun was moving in the same way the sun was moving when the miracle of the Fatima children had seen it. All of a sudden it was pitch black. I looked, and the sun wasn’t there. But the moon was still there, which made no logical since. 5 seconds later and the sun was there again. It was HUGE!!! The sun kept expanding and then a little noise like a siren came on, but it was like a whistle. The sun had blinded me, and I died…I woke up immediately at 6:00 am. This is how I picture the son of man coming a second time. Sometimes things might scare you. But you have to be brave and stand up to it. You have to stand up to death. ???
you’re right, dat is a little scary.
I think we can apply this to our lives by thinking every time we say or think we can love Jesus tomorrow or later. There very well might not be a tomorrow we must realize the Kingdom of God can come now and if it does where will we go? you can not wait until later to go to confession Because if there is no later and Jesus comes you don’t know where you will spend eternity. Many of us do not realize there may not be a later or a tomorrow you can’t think “I will love Jesus and go to church every day or often or at least on Sundays when I am older” There might not be an older. We must be ready for Jesus for we do not know the day or hour when the savior will come.
When we are humiliated for our religion we tend to run away from it, to get away from the humiliation, and to honestly, be getting away from God.
This shows us that we cannot rely on sight alone for belief. We cannot see air, yet we know its there. In the same way we should believe that God is among us. We should also be able to believe, unlike Thomas, that Jesus rose from the dead without seeing Him in person.
Heaven is not an earthly thing. You cannot see heaven with earthly eyes. but heaven is among us spiritually
We must truly believe that Jesus is present and here with us. We must act and love each other like he does with us, otherwise we do not truly believe.
When I speak to him I know that he is here for me.
God promises to be with us always no mater what he will always be with us physically and spirally.
Jesus is the way to heaven and he is among us, so all we have to do is believe in Jesus to get to heaven
I can reflect this in my life by offering all of my suffering for God and all my gifts a can share to those in need. We don’t know when the kingdom of god will open up to us but we need to be ready for whenever god decides to take us into his arms.
One way I can apply this scripture to my life is by knowing God physically and spiritually and by asking him to help me look for the kingdom of God all around me in my everyday life
I can apply this to my life by recognizing God’s gifts and living in the present
I can be a rebel against this world. i can do things this world would find weird, but God would find great.
In this scripture they are saying that Jesus will be rejected by his generation and will have to die on the cross all for us and his love for us which is awesome because not even your mom or dad loves you that much and that is most likely impossible to comprehend the love Jesus has for us.
I can live like God is always watching me, which he is. I need to recognize God and receive his gifts.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that God is TRULY present wherever I am and that I need to stick up n what I believe. When the Scripture stated ‘”Do not go off, do not run in pursuit. For just as lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day. But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation.” LK 17:20-25’ , I knew that if I believe in the Catholic Faith, I must stick up for what I believe in.
In this passage God is telling us that Jesus is truly present and is trying his best to get us to Heaven, so we need to stop running away but start running toward God so we can reach the most holy kingdom of God.
I can apply this passage to my life by realizing God is with me always. I may not always see him or hear him but I know he is there because of what he teaches us. We should take time especially now that it is White Ribbon Week and talk to God more and get to know him better.
I can use today’s scripture passage by knowing that God is showing me that he is there for me no matter what and that he is showing me the way.
I can apply this to my life by not worrying about what is to come because God has a plan for us. Also we shouldn’t worry about what others say because if we have faith then we know we are doing the right thing.
I can apply this to my life by lifting my head up and paying more attention to everything going on around me.
This tells us that Jesus is here with us and that the kingdom of God is always near us.
In the scripture is said that people treat God like He was here but won’t be back until the Second Coming. I think this is true. Sometimes we forget that Jesus is always with us and we act like He is up in Heaven. Jesus is always with us helping us along the way so we should treat Him like He is always with us because He is.
This really explains what we have to do to get to heaven very well. Even though we are going to have to go through some suffering and pain we will always need God and all that pain and suffering can be offered up to him .
God is always with us whether we want him to be or not. He will also always love and forgive us. We need to realize that we should start loving Him with every ounce of our being.
Jesus is telling us that he is always by our side and we just don’t accept it.
Today’s passage tell me that we see Jesus everywhere and every day. He calls us toward him everyday, I see this in mass when I look toward the confessional and he is calling me towards him.
Jesus is warning us about the end of life, he’s explaining why we need to repent.
As humans, we seem to think that was is popular is always the right thing to do. We are wrong, whats always popular isn’t always right. We need to not take what we get for granted by God.
This gospel talks about the coming of Jesus and when he will come but there is no when to be thinking about just now. don’t think later think now do things now and be ready for Christ at any time for we know not the day or the hour.
I can apply this to my life by being patient and respectful to my family and friends. I need to act like Jesus is always watching me, like he is. I will try to do the challenge.
Jesus comes to us in the present day, telling us to suffer for what we have done to the present day. We must repent for the kingdom is at hand, meaning we are in the endgame now. We must repent and do all that we can to be as good as he, to enter into heaven. We shall respect his sacrifice and follow through with his plan for us
What God is trying to tell me through this scripture passage today is that we don’t know when he’ll return. We all must be ready for God’s second coming. Give up yourself to God, so that you will be ready.
Great Summary Blaise!! We will never know the time, nor the hour…
The scripture today tells us that we need to love God with everything we have. We need to drop any earthly wanting, and start to want God and His way. I can apply this to my life by doing good for others.
I think that Jesus is saying that no matter when he comes back we need to be ready. We need to not worry and to not be fearful for when the time comes but to look forward tot it and to be ready.
Jesus is saying to us that we ever know when the kingdom of God is coming. Jesus says you never know when God is coming so to always be prepared. We always need to be prepared for God to come because it’ll be the best day ever, and we don’t want to miss it.
Jesus is telling us that one day whether we are ready or not the Son of Man will come again. We have to be prepared for the day he comes back to get us.
I think this is telling me is that I need to not be surprised when Jesus comes on Earth again. I know that He is with us now and forever. I need to start realizing this more. I need to start realizing that God is with us. He will always be with us.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that God is giving us a true gift and understand that he gave his life up for us. He wants us to live a apply and full life, and be appreciative for what he has done.
The passage is telling me that we are dumb enough to go looking for God when he is right in front of us. I can apply this to my life by praying and knowing that he is with me always beside us even in our toughest moments. We are like a blind man who is searching for something that is right in front of him. But all we need to do is open our eyes and hearts.
Jesus says, “The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.” Christ is present in anything and everything and we fail to realize that! I think that we search for Him too hard actually. Now I know that sounds strange but we look for him so much that we fail to see him in everyday life. We expect him to change our lives in some extraordinary way but that is not how he will show himself to us. A couple years ago I was in an airplane for the first time. I was so scared because there was a storm and the plane was shaking. I prayed to God and asked Him to keep me safe. About five minutes later we landed and when we were landing there was a rainbow in the sky! It was then I knew everything would be okay because God heard my prayer and he showed me it was going to be okay in the most ordinary thing.
The passage is telling me that to be ready for whenever God comes. We never know when he is going to come back to save us ,but when he does come back it’s going to be hard for us. We need to get away from our electronics and i’m being a hypocrite because I’m always on my phone but I need to stop because I need to grow closer to God.
I think that this means that Heaven is within reach. We have to truly love God and follow His commands in order to reach it though. If we don’t, heaven will just get pushed farther and farther away from us.
I feel as if it is saying that God can see every thing we do. He is always there throughout all he the things we do through our lives. We need to obey and worship God always.
I think this passage is telling us to know that God is with us. We need to know that we have to pray in times of temptation. When we are tempted, we should pray to God for guidance or we will be enveloped in sin. Since God does all these things for us, we need to thank him in prayer as well.
This is telling me that I should be ready and prepare for the second coming of God. That Jesus is with us always and I need to recognize this so the I can be ready and not be surprised when he comes down to Earth again to save us once more.
God is trying to tell us that He is everything and everyone. We need to realize that when we hurt someone we hurt God. God wants us to know He is always there. God is truly present in everything! We can piggyback off of this and treat others as if Jesus was that person. We always think that since we just hurt one person that it doesn’t affect them. but it does and we need to treat others the way we want to be treated.
We don’t know the day or the hour when the Master is coming, so we must always be prepared. Some people will try to mislead us, but we need to keep our eyes on the Truth. We need to remember that God isn’t far away, instead He is right here in the Eucharist. We don’t need to go looking all around for Jesus because we already know where He is.
Jesus is telling us that we will not know when He will come back. So we need to prepare the best we can because we need to be ready for when He does return so that we can get to Heaven.
I can apply today’s gospel to my life by always reminding myself that God is present with me. I need to accept His love, so one day I can be with Him in the Kingdom of God.
I think this means that we always need to be ready. We do not know when the Lord is coming back. We need to ask ourselves, “If the lord came today, would you be ready for him?” Also, we need to really believe that he is among us. He is not super far away, up in the sky on some cloud just watching us and judging our lives. He’s the person sitting next to you, the person who lives next door, the person you’ve maybe never talked to, but who was kind to you anyway. He’s always right there, waiting for you to see him.
Jesus has come and he will come again, we just don’t know when. We are in the endgame now. We have to prepare ourselves now. We have to decide whether we want to go to Heaven or hell and do good things to get to heaven.
God id present in all that we do. He is always there. He is in our hearts, even more so on Sundays. Jesus says that there will be days where we wish to see God, but He might not show Himself to us. God helps us all, but He doesn’t always do it the way we want him to. He will give us what we need in time. All we need to do is remain faithful.
As humans, we have been gifted with the ability to have free will. God gave us free will so that we were able to make our own choices, although we don’t always make the right ones. God wants us to find the right path of righteousness and holiness. Some people decide on money, technology, books, etc. I am one of those people and I won’t deny it because that’s the truth and it is very obvious it is that way. I am on my phone more than I should be and I recognize that I am. I don’t do anything about it because I enjoy those things I am able to do. It is something I need to work on am trying to fix. Maybe once I’ve fixed that problem I can make my relationship with God stronger than it is now.
I can apply this to my life by always focusing on the present, instead of the past and future. God always has a plan for us. He has known every single human being’s plan even before we were conceived in the womb. Christ is everywhere we go. He follows us so he can help every step of the way. He loves us so much.
We need to repent for our sins. When the Son of Man comes we will not see it. We need to not chase to find the Son of God because he is right here with us.
God is here for us. He really is and we forget that a lot. God will not leave us and he loves us so much. We cant leave God or just stop loving him because it isn’t fair. HE HAS DONE TO MUCH FOR US!!!!
In today’s scripture, it is reminding me that we do not know the day nor the hour Jesus will return, but we must at all times be ready. We should go to confession and receive the Eucharist to keep ourselves in the state of grace, so if Jesus comes today we will be ready. We know not the day nor the hour Jesus will return but we must be ready for the day, for on that day we all will be judged.
I think God is telling us to watch out because our decisions have consequences. We also need to sacrifice ourselves, our time, and our things to become better versions of ourselves.
we need to realize that God is fully here and that God will always be here for us. We need not to worry about the future or the past but we need to learn from the past and fix it in the present for the future to be a good one .
God strikes like a lightning bolt in the sky. He comes quickly and lights the path for all his followers. When he comes we must be ready for he is the one we should trust in.
What we know is God is gonna return, but we don’t know when. We may not be able to see God, but we should trust him that he is here for us.
I think this gospel is showing us that God is all powerful, but He had to suffer first by dying on the cross.
Jesus says that it is impossible to know when the kingdom of God will come so you have to be kind to everyone and be like Christ in every situation.
We do not know when the second coming of Jesus, so we must live our life in the way Jesus always tells us to. He gave us so many instructions on the true way to make it to heaven: beautitudes, 10 commandments, and the gospel writings.
SInce no one in this world is like Jesus we all should admire him. In this i feel that God is truly present with me and everyone at every single moment. SInce i know that i am not nearly as scared as i used to be to do little things with no one to turn to
I think that in a way, God knew that if He did not die for us, we would not love Him as we do, all though He deserves more love than that.
Jesus is with us. He will return soon, but first, he will suffer by us rejecting him. We shouldn’t reject home, and we should realize that he is with us.
We have no idea when God is going to return to this place. God sad to be ready at the hour that her returns. It’s truly amazing and is something that I’m looking forward to. Judgement is key and when God returns to earth we will be judged by how we were during out lifetime. God loves us all very much and is always going to know when you do something that you either regret or you either charish.
i think that this means that we should be ready for the second coming of Jesus Christ. We need to be ready and know that God is always with us. He will always be with us spiritually until He comes for a second time.
Jesus is telling me that we will never know the day or the hour He will come. So we need to be prepared. I was just asked this question in are target success groups this morning. Would you be ready to die if you were to die today? We need to realize that Jesus is not some dude up in the clouds judging us. He is the people we encounter on Earth and how we treat them. If we are nice to our neighbor we are nice to Jesus. If we steal from our neighbor we are stealing from Jesus. So I need to treat everyone like I would treat Jesus.
We need to repent our sins to God to show that we care. If we don’t care we are getting are salves farther and farther from him. We need to be filled with joy and happiness. More stuff won’t help us and more money won’t save us from hell it’s a heart that helps us get to heaven.
The scripture is telling me that we do not know the exact hour God will show up and save us from what we have done to the earth
I think we need to be glad of our religion and how we are perfect images of God. We need to respect each other like it is our selves.
Jesus is trying to tell us that need to be ready for him. If we aren’t ready for him we won’t get to go to heaven. We never know when he is going to come so it is very important to worship him everyday. I’m going to apply this to my life by praying and reading the bible before I get on electronics so I don’t forget.
I think that God is saying i’m here lisin to me I’m here just look with your heart not your eyes
God is always here for us. He is willing to listen to our struggles and He welcomes us with open arms if we ever need comfort. He willingly died on the cross for us and we don’t show Him enough love as He deserves. He is the best friend we always needed or wanted. He’s here for us 24/7, go to Him and show Him our love.
I can apply this to my life by living day by day, and not in the future. This also tells me to listen to God even if no one else seems to be
I can apply this to my life by striving to enter the kingdom of God and knowing that it is upon us right now. If the things we do result in the salvation of others, we can get them to heaven. #YOLO
Heaven is not of this world. It is something we look forward to every day, but we have to be truly ready for it. Jesus will help us be ready everyday because he is present with us.
we should all repent and admire God. For he is the holy one, the savior, the paraclete.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus said that the Kingdom of God is among us, but first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation, and I think that he is trying to tell us that WE must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation. Jesus came as an example for us, and to teach US what to do. I think that Jesus is telling us that we must suffer for our faith. That we must be rejected by this generation, and that is when we will find the Kingdom of God. Not by waiting for it, but by finding it for ourselves.
God will always be with us but we need to trust his promise. God will come when he comes but we need to be ready. He isn’t going to tell us when he’s coming we just need to trust him and follow him.
We need to realize that God is with us at all times. We must always be prepared for Jesus to come again. To do that we need to prepare our souls for him by repenting against our sins.
I can apply this scripture passage to my life by remembering that Jesus is always with me even though I can’t see him. This is always a comfort to know like when I am sad or scared because I can just put my worries and troubles in Jesus’ hands. This is also a motivation to behave because in our every day lives we forget that God sees every thing we do, think, or say, so when I know that God is watching me I tend to behave better and that will build good habits of kindness and selflessness.
we should be closer to God and be a servent of his every day insted of thinking he is far away and can’t hear or see us.
I can apply this to my life today to always be focused on the Lord. Just like you never know when the time could come. We always need to be prepared for his grace and mercy. He died on the cross for our sins so we should always be open to him in our heart and soul and let him talk through us.
God is truly present. He isn’t far away but he is right here with us. I can be kind to others because God’s spirit is in everyone.
In the gospel I recognized that God is not a far, but here already. I need to keep Jesus in my present so that when he comes I am ready. When He comes I will be ready to go into Heaven, rather be unholy.
I can apply this to my life by living in the present. I shouldn’t worry what is in the future, or anything in the past. I just need to know that God is always with me and I need to live my life like God is always with me, because he always is. I really like this Gospel, it’s a great reminder that you are Never ever alone.
I believe that the scriptures are trying to tell me that we MUST be different. We must act differently and not care about what is “normal” and be a follower of Christ. We have to fully devote ourselves to god and we must have a personal relationship with God.
How i can apply this to my daily life is by really recognizing and receiving Gods gifts. Another way i can is to still believe God is here even when people tell me hes not and its a lie. I may not always see God but i know he is their because of what he is teaching us. We should also be taking this white ribbon week as a chance to really focus on him and get to know him better.
I think because we are humans we are not seeking what God wants for us right. As humans and in the environment today are always thinking about money, Popularity, or earthly things that we can bring into heaven with us. We need to think that we don’t know when death is going to come upon us so we need to worship God and pray everyday, so that we can make it to heaven. We need to realize that God loves us and that he died for us.
God Is always with us but with the way our generation is acting God can seem to be light-years away. We need to learn that God and our guardian are always watching us and will always be with us. We also need to pray more for our souls and our vocations.
Today’s scripture tells us that Jesus is always with us no matter what. It also says that we need to not to worry about what’s yet to come or what has happened in the past.
“The Kingdom of God cannot be observed!” -VERY TRUE! We will never ever know when God will come, nor will we know when we die! It’s all a mystery, but we ALL just need to trust in The Lord, he is our light and our salvation!
I also love the challenge it gives us at the end, I will definitely consider doing that as much as possible! <3
Most of the time, when I think of God, I think of this big and powerful man with a long, gray beard on a great, big cloud, looking down on us. God is almighty and powerful, but he’s not far off. He’s with us always! Also, Jesus says, “The coming of the Kingdom of God cannot be observed, and no one will announce, ‘Look, here it is,’ or, ‘There it is. For behold, the Kingdom of God is among you.” Lots of people think that judgment day or the day they die will be in a long time, but God can come at any time and we don’t know his plan for us. So, I will apply this to my life by knowing that the Lord is near me and being ready for Jesus to return by going to confession.
In today’s gospel, Jesus explains that our minds will inevitably never have the ability to obtain the time, nor hour the Lord will come. However, to endeavor ourselves in committing to God, we must travel great lengths to harness his loving graces. Ultimately, It is this burning sensation within our hearts, that suitably aids us when he genuinely arrives.
We have to realize that God is present with us at all times, no matter how far away he may seem. We can rely on Him to be there for us in our times of need, even if we think that He’s not there. Whenever our friends and family don’t understand our situation, we can always be sure that God will be there to assist us.
No one knows when the kingdom of God will come so you have to be kind to everyone and be like Christ in every situation and be ready and prepared.
This means that God is always with me. This also means that God can be with me through tough times.
We need to not put God to the side, if we want to make it to the kingdom of heaven we need to have Him be the center of our lives not just something we put to the side.
We need to not put God to the side, if we want to make it to the kingdom of heaven we need to have Him be the center of our lives not just something we put to the side. We need to Wake up and realize that God it right there waiting for us.
