Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

Jesus said to the crowd:
“No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel
or sets it under a bed;
rather, he places it on a lampstand
so that those who enter may see the light.
For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible,
and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light.
Take care, then, how you hear.
To anyone who has, more will be given,
and from the one who has not,
even what he seems to have will be taken away.” LK 8:16-18

In the parable of the lamp, Jesus teaches us more about our identity as Christians.  After we have come to understand the Word (the Good News), we must not keep it to ourselves.  It is amazing what one lit candle can do in a dark room.  Jesus also teaches us that we cannot hide our actions.  Some people think that they should get to do whatever they want in the privacy of the their own homes.  God sees everything.  We cannot hide our sin and Jesus teaches us the opposite of that today, we cannot hide His Word, the Truth.  He came to reveal it to very specific people, the 12 Apostles, as well as about 120 other very close followers.  Each one went to their death spreading this Word.  Our role is to learn the Word, understand it, apply it to our lives, and pass it on to the next generation with patience and perseverance.

Today’s challenge: Read the Word, understand the Word, spread the Word (through actions, use words if necessary-St. Francis).

Be a servant, become a saint!
