In the early Christian Church Peter has a vision explaining that Gentiles are to be saved, too. Jesus did not come to save only Jews, but He came to save all. Our first Church council, Council of Jerusalem, separates the Jews from Catholics. It is the first time “The Way” becomes catholic which means “universal”-all are called to be saved through Jesus Christ.
This leads us to today’s Gospel. Jesus explains that He is the gate. Only through Him is salvation granted. He is the Good Shepherd! He gives life to his sheep and lays down His own life for them. Give glory to God!
