Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.
I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away,
not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter
will pass from the law,
until all things have taken place.
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments
and teaches others to do so
will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.
But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments
will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”  MT 5:17-19

We are halfway through Lent.  Today is a great day to do an examination of conscience based off the commandments. Jesus says “Whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.  But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”
1. Do you worship your cell phone, sports, the Internet as your Bible, video games, social networking sites, instead of God? Is God the center of your life or just a part of it?
2. Words are powerful, do we only use God’s name to praise Him or in anger.  Do we need to stop cussing?  Do we use words to build others up or tear down?
3. Have we missed Mass or a holy day of obligation?
4. Are we respectful to adult authority?  Do we obey our parents?
5. Are we overindulging in food or drink?  Are we hurting ourselves on purpose?  Are we putting others down, we kill with words not just physically?
6. Are we viewing pornography?  Lusting over someone’s body?  Treating others as objects instead of people?  Saying things about other’s bodies that is degrading?  Watching things on the Internet or movies that is inappropriate?
7. Do we cheat at school, stealing answers?  Have we taken anything from a store without paying?
8. Does your yes mean yes and your no mean no?  Are you trustworthy or fake?  Do you lie to get attention?  Do you put others down and lie or spread rumors about them?  Do you gossip?
9. Are you loyal in relationships?
10.  Do you compare yourself to others?  Do you wish you had something someone else has?  Do you love who God made you to be?

If you have fallen in any of these areas, this week would be a great time to go to confession and finish Lent strong.  I have fallen in more than one.  As I posted yesterday, St. Faustina shares with us Jesus’ s message of Divine Mercy.  God’s love and mercy are far bigger than all of mankind’s sin.  We must bring ourselves and others to God’s mercy.  It begins with the intention in our heart.  Is it selfish or do we want to serve?  Matthew Kelly says it well when he says Christianity is hard.  If you want easy, you better stop being Christian.  Most importantly, the heart of Jesus’s message today is, “Love God above all things with your whole heart, mind, soul, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself.”  Are you tough enough to be Christian?

Today’s challenge: Do a good spring cleaning on your soul?  What is the root of your sin?  Avoid the near occasion of sin. Cut off the Internet or a device if it is causing you to sin.  Review the time and the place you sin, avoid it.  Keep fighting, never give up, perseverance is the key!

Be a servant, become a saint!
