Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

Brothers and sisters:
Through one man sin entered the world,
and through sin, death,
and thus death came to all men, inasmuch as all sinned.

If by that one person’s transgression the many died,
how much more did the grace of God
and the gracious gift of the one man Jesus Christ
overflow for the many.
For if, by the transgression of the one,
death came to reign through that one,
how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace
and the gift of justification
come to reign in life through the one Jesus Christ.
In conclusion, just as through one transgression
condemnation came upon all,
so, through one righteous act
acquittal and life came to all.
For just as through the disobedience of one man
the many were made sinners,
so, through the obedience of the one
the many will be made righteous.
Where sin increased, grace overflowed all the more,
so that, as sin reigned in death,
grace also might reign through justification
for eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Rom 5:12, 15, 17-19, 20-21

St. Paul teaches us about God’s love through His Son today.  Sacrificial love or agape is the love God the Father gave us by giving us the life of His Son.  The Son through obedience and love for the Father had no sin, did nothing wrong, gives up His life for us to heal the divide between God and man handed down to us by Adam and Eve.  Jesus is the New Adam, Mary the New Eve.  Every day we wake we must be mindful that we have inherited a fallen human nature and our desires are warped.  Jesus makes things clear again.  God has given us a gift that cannot be earned, His grace.  “For if, by the transgression of the one, death came to reign through that one, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the gift of justification come to reign in life through the one Jesus Christ.”  Grace cannot be earned, but obedience is accomplished through our will.  If we are to do God’s will each day, we must train our will to be obedient.  This is humbling and difficult, a daily battle.

Today’s challenge: Thank God for the gift of His grace.  Thank God for our relationship restored through His Son.  Thank Jesus every day by kneeling before a crucifix for the great gift of His death so that we may have life and life to the fullest.  Ask God to give you the grace to be obedient so your will is doing God’s will so that you may reach your heavenly home, God’s greatest desire for you!
