Feast of the Ascension

The eleven disciples went to Galilee,
to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them.
When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.
Then Jesus approached and said to them,
“All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” MT 28:16-20

Today, as Jesus ascends into heaven, He makes a bold promise, “And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” God gave us His only Son who we killed with our sins, He came back with love and forgiveness, then promises to stay with us always in three ways.

The most profound way is through our baptism, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing the in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

The second way is by veiling Himself behind bread and wine so that He can fit between a priest’s two fingers (watch “The Veil Removed” https://theveilremoved.com/watch/). Jesus’ humility is a great model for us. He also stays hidden in the consecrated bread and wine so we can approach Him. How unworthy I am to have such a loving and forgiving God. He knows this and does it anyway, this is grace and true love. If you are ever feeling unloved, unnoticed, or unimportant take time to get to know Christ, Son of the living God. His love and sacrifice are overwhelming.

The third way is in prayer, “Wherever two or three are gathered in my name, I am in your midst.” Last, Jesus is fully alive in the Scriptures, with the Spirit of Truth that He breathed on the Apostles on Pentecost, a small band of followers turns Christianity into a 1 billion people religion. No government has ever been able to stop them even if it is illegal to be Christian or if they persecute and even execute them. How does this happen? Love, God’s love is the most powerful thing in the universe, and all baptized Christians have the Holy Spirit to guide them to the Truth.

Today’s challenge: As a baptized person called to be holy, a saint, knowing Christ is with us always, CHOOSE to bring yourself closer to Him this summer by going to daily Mass more, praying more intentionally, spend time on Fridays comforting Him on the cross, visit Him in adoration, or read and reflect on Jesus in the Gospel beginning to end. Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

Be a servant, become a saint!
