“SO THEY WENT OFF AND PREACHED REPENTANCE.”MK 6:7-13

Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Prayer Prompt before reading MK 6:7-13: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.

Jesus gave authority to the Apostles over unclean spirits and authority to cure the sick by anointing them with oil. Jesus’ authority did not stop with the 12 Apostles, but from Peter was passed on to Linus and down to Pope Francis. This authority was passed down to bishops and priests who are still preaching repentance, casting out demons, and curing the sick. This proves to us that Jesus has the authority to pass on His powers to specific people He gives the power to.

The pope, bishops, and ordained priests all have been given authority by Christ to forgive sins, consecrate the Eucharist, anoint the sick and give them last rites, to Baptize in the name of the Trinity, to confirm the Holy Spirit in us, to witness a couple making wedding vows. God the Father set up the priesthood in the tribe of the Levites in the Old Testament, then Jesus instituted the first priesthood at the Last Supper, and continues to call priests to be ordained today and works through them to heal, cure, and cast out demons.

Don’t believe me? Fr. Ben Green gave absolution to my son, Nathan, and many other 2nd graders for first reconciliation. In the Year of Fr. Kapaun, we took time to reflect on his intercession from heaven to heal Chase Kear who should have died after a pole vaulting accident, Avery Gerlemen from a blood disease that was eating her alive from the inside, and Nick Dellesega who was without a pulse for 9 and half minutes. We don’t hear these things on the nightly news very often. We must search them out because God’s grace, love, and authority are the most powerful things in the world. The sick are cured, demons are cast out, and reconciliation is taking place right now all over the world.

Take time to fill your mind with good and holy things each day, allow Jesus’ teachings to transform you and change your perspective to ‘what is’, reality, or Truth. This conversion takes place slowly or sometimes all at once. It requires faith and an open heart and mind, total surrender and trust (fiat). Jesus is sending you and I out today two by two, after being formed by Him, to change the world by being who He created us to be.

Today’s challenge: Read about Fr. Kapaun’s story at http://catholicdioceseofwichita.org/father-kapaun or find a book on Fr. Kapaun and read it. Put good and holy people and things around you. Humble yourself and recognize we need God, if you seek Him out you will not be disappointed. All of us are called to be saints, with a specific role for our journey. Ask Jesus what your role is in this life then take nothing with you but your walking stick and be amazed at what Christ will do through you!

Be a servant,be a saint today!

Jesus is always watching us and taking care of us. He gives the saints authority to intercede for us, and He is always watching. Jesus has given us powers that we can use, if we only know how to access them. He loves us and is always taking care of us.

Something that I got out of this was that when we do what is our plan from God, he provides everything we need. He said just get you shoes and some clothes, and with the bare minimum they were able to do God’s work, and what he wanted us to do. We should realize that we do not need all the nice things, and the newest phone or clothes. We just need to be in the presence of God, and do what he wants us to do.

I think that Jesus is trying to say in today’s Gospel that anyone can be a missionary. He sent the twelve apostles but it could have been twelve other people and God could have given them the power to drive out demons because God is all powerful. So I think we should take today’s Gospel as a call to be missionaries and serve people we can do this by praying for others who need it and treating people with the respect that they deserve.

In todays gospel the lord sends out the apostles to deal with unclean spirits and that they will not bring much with them, If the house did not listen they were to shake the dust off their shoes in testimony against them. THe lord sends out his apostle just like he sends out us to take care of our brothers and sisters in the lord. Have an amazing day everyone!.

This conversion takes place slowly or sometimes all at once. It requires faith and an open heart and mind, total surrender and trust (fiat).” Today God is telling me that it does take time if you really want to convert yourself into being a Catholic or even getting yourself closer to God. Take your time to try to get away from bad examples and stay with the people that lead you toward God. You can still have fun while doing this though and it doesn’t have to all be boring and it should not feel like torture or else you aren’t doing it right. You should be happy that you are getting closer to God and it should lead you to greater things. Without God we would be nothing, but its thanks to Him that we are here and done so many great things. The devil will try to get a hold of you while you are trying to change yourself for the better still, but don’t let that affect you. Once you do get closer to God then you will be unstoppable and you will feel better than ever, once you start pulling away tho, you won’t notice but you will change and it will lead to bad habits and you will get stuck in this hole where you can’t get out. You will think you are happy till you reach the very bottom, then you will realize what you have done and how bad life has gotten. Stay with God for He is our way to Heaven and greatness.

Todays Gospel is about how Jesus gives us authority to rule over the world. He gives us the power to preach, to be missionaries to heal to cast out demons and much more. There is also and unbroken chain of priests bishops and popes witch traces back to the first people who Jesus gave this power to

In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives his apostles the power to cast out demons and cure the sick. Before, Jesus was the only one who could do this and now, it has been passed on for generations. The saints have been able to cure people too because of Jesus’s power. Jesus only wants what’s best for us and he gives His power for healing and for good. Jesus loves us and He will never stop loving us.

Today the apostles were sent to cast out demons and to preach the gospel, but God says that they must only wear the shoes on their feet and no other clothes or food or water. Nothing they must go out with only the help of the people that they are saving and preaching too. They did this in the name of the Lord and they were able to survive and conquer many demons. It is so cool to see some kind of evidence about God leading them to places where they will be able to survive and convert people. Today in this story the apostles I think kind of relate to like us at the school of St. Francis in the way that we need to save and preach to people. I don’t know if we have to only go with shoes and one pair of clothes maybe not that drastic measure, but we need to go and save. I think the people that they are going to save are everyone in the world that is not already with God. We may not do as much as the apostles and save as many as the apostles did, but anything that we do can help.

Today Jesus sends out the 12 and tells them to clean unclean spirits with absolutely nothing. He tells them to go out just with sandals and one robe and no food or money. In doing this the 12 cleaned many spirits. Just like today priests lead us on our journey to Heaven. They are cleaning our souls and preparing us for what is to come when we face God. We need to do our best to follow them and try to be the best people we can be.

Jesus can cleanse us of many things. He can rebuke unclean spirits, he can heal the sick, and he can forgive our sins. Our God is so loving and caring and he forgives us when we don’t deserve it, he keeps us safe from the devil and tries to protect us. We have to see how amazing God is. we don’t deserve him and he doesn’t need us, but we need him.

Take time too fill your minds with holy things each day this stands out to me because it shows that when we take 30 minutes out of our 24 hour day just to thank God because He gave us everything. We could take a break from our phone or TV or even when we go to bed. Just 30 minutes that’s all it takes for us to give something to God, after all he gave us life and his son, you cant give much more than that.

In today’s Gospel, I believe Jesus is trying to teach us that we will receive it all as long as we believe in him and receive the sacraments. When Jesus told the twelve apostles exactly what to do, I believe they knew what power He was giving them and yet they stayed humble. I hope that we are all going to be like this one day when Jesus gives us all the power in the world. Jesus will always love us even though we have sinned against Him in the past. He has always forgiven us especially when we don’t know He is there we are still loved.

In the Gospel today, Jesus gives his apostles the permission to use his name to heal and cleanse people and spirits. Whenever I see the Chosen or other catholic media. I always hear people say “In the name of Jesus”. But why In the name of Jesus. Why does Jesus want us to use his name. His name is power, he has a savior in his name, he can break the chains in which you are bonded in. You no longer have to fear. Whenever people use his name not only they are cleansed but they are welcomed into a reality in which they are no longer a slave. For they are saved. We are called to be instruments of God’ word. We don’t need to be holy, we don’t need to be perfect, we don’t need to have the power. Because God is giving you the power in his name. Not your name, but his name. People began to get confused with why this is working, why is this actually real. It’s because God who is in a divine reality comes into our reality to give the mighty touch of cleansing. This is why God is not just divine, or not just human he is both. He is a man so that when he is in our reality he can come through divine reality to cleanse. Don’t be afraid because we are all called to do this, we should see the smiles on everybody’s face because they are free from these prison walls that cannot be broken down. In the name of Jesus, will save you. But mostly it’s your father that saves you. So have faith, and not walk by sight. Give, pray, love, Do not be afraid.

It might be irrelevant, but Jesus sending them in two by two reminds me of the Noahs Arc thing, how animals went in two by two. Also Jesus told them to go without food, water, money, but really just a walking stick. It would be scary walking to places with only a walking stick and a pair of sandles, but the Twelve followed and did as Jesus asked, and spread his word. Its amazing the power he gave them to drive out demons and heal just like he does.

In today’s gospel these words stuck out to me “The Twelve drove out many demons”
These words stuck out to me because we can drive out demons like the devil from our
lives by praying the rosary. The devil is scared by the overwhelming power of the rosary
And he flees away from wherever we pray to God.

Forming a better relationship with Jesus is hard, it is never easy to get past the obstacle of sin. Mass is a great way to overcome sin so we can live a holy life with Jesus.

Just as they had to trust God to provide for them so must we, although not with basic everyday physical needs but with spiritual needs instead. Jesus is also telling us we should be kind and generous to those in need. We must help others like Jesus describes in the gospel. We must be like the kind people to the apostles and our reward will be in heaven.

Having someone pray over you might be awkward but it is truly powerful in ways we cant understand. God will choose when he wants us to be healed. Today’s gospel is about how the apostles went out to preach, and bless people. Jesus gives them instructions, and when they do them, they end up doing miracles! With God, anything is possible. There may be something that we don’t believe we can do, but this gospel message just proves what if we trust in God, he will have a plan for us that will work out in the end.

The pope, bishops, and ordained priests all have been given authority by Christ to forgive sins, consecrate the Eucharist, anoint the sick and give them last rites, to Baptize in the name of the Trinity, to confirm the Holy Spirit in us, to witness a couple making wedding vows. It is so crazy to me that they can do all of this but they still sin. I sometimes forget that priests and all of them are still humans and have free will. I think it is awesome that God can trust us so much. He has given us so much grace.

In today’s gospel the lord sends out the apostles to deal with unclean spirits and that they will not bring much with them, If the house did not listen they were to shake the dust off their shoes in testimony against them. I think it was interesting that they were paired up and then sent to go preach and left with no money or food or drink. God will always provide and care for everyone. He is always there and is never going to leave your side.

In today’s Gospel we see the beginning of how we have priests now. Jesus gives the apostles the power over evil spirits and to preach repentance. With this the apostles then passed down the authority over the generations, until finally it is now at our current priests.

Toda, Jesus sent out the apostles to cast out demons, but they weren’t allowed to have any money, no sack, and no food. They couldn’t wear a second tunic, and had to wear sandals. The apostles preached to the people, casting out many evil spirirts, anointing sick people and curing them. This reminds me of when I make a bad decision and then God helps me through it all, we need to call out to God whenever we find ourselves in a situation.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus sent out his Apostles to go cast out demons and anoint the sick. But could not bring money, food, sack but only a walking stick, sandals, and only one tunic. We can all be missionaries and help the people around us. Like Father Jarrod said on Tuesday, we can all heal people by putting our hands on them and asking God to heal them. God will always heal us because he loves us all.

in this Gospel jesus gives the apostles command over spirits and tell them to go out into the world with nothing but a cloak a walking and sandals. the apostles were to preach the gospel and to live off the generosity of others. in this day in age I do not think the apostles will last today people are far from God and people are hostile they are not as kind and forgiving as they once were. we have failed our mission we are to give to the poor however there are people dying everyday from sickness because they could not get treatment. this need to change we need to better ourselves and the world around us or we will all end up like the poor.:)

“He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick” The 12 relied on others for food, shelter and more. We can rely on God. God has a plan for all of us. God’s plan may be priesthood, marriage, fighting in war, missionary work, or really anything. In whatever we do though, we should keep God in our hearts like Fr. Kapaun and trust in him. Fr. Kapaun was about to die in war camps, but he trusted God and helped others, because of his incredible trust in God till his death, he changed many people’s lives.

Today’s Gospel kind of reminds me of humility. Jesus told the twelve to go out with nothing, they were to be poor and look poor. They would have to beg and ask for help and for places to stay. But it was with this that they were given great power, through Jesus. He gave them the ability to drive out demons and convert others. So I feel like something we can take from that is that humility is not a weakness. In fact it’s pretty much the opposite. Humility gives you a kind quiet power that allows you to bring others and yourself closest to Christ.

I think that the gospel is trying to tell us is that healing is God answering our prayers. Like father Jarrod said “healing is God answering our prayers,” we should pray to God about our health and our concerns. Even if there is nothing wrong with us we should still do it because God loves us. He loves our voice, and our thought and ideas, God loves everything about us. So we should talk to him whether its just a simple conversation or asking him to do us a favor. We need to talk to God because of his love for us and that he made us.

I think what God is trying to tell us here today is to be missionaries and be wary of the devil tricking you. In today’s Gospel, Jesus sent out the Apostles to help unclean souls by driving out demons or healing the sick. However, Jesus warned them to be mindful of the devil tricking them. When Jesus told them to leave the unwelcoming houses and shake the dust off their feet, that hints at the devil and sin. So, they left the devil and sin and shook off the dust of them. They also trusted Jesus in travelling to help others. We should trust Jesus in our vocations, because God knows our plan for our salvation.
