“AMEN, I SAY TO YOU, NO PROPHET IS ACCEPTED IN HIS OWN NATIVE PLACE.” LK 4:24-30
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Have you ever felt unaccepted somewhere? Sadly, this happens in our homes, schools, parishes, and communities. Jesus had the power to heal, raise people from the dead, He is Word made Flesh to tell everyone about salvation and eternal life. He died on a cross for these people. Yet they did not accept Him. Why? The same reason we do not accept Him.
He still has the power to heal today through priests, He is present in all of our tabernacles, with those in prayer, and His Word is always living and effective. He is with you and I now. Why don’t we accept Him? I don’t know about you but when I am really honest with myself and I listen to my heart, I’m afraid.
Afraid to change maybe, but I want to. I want to get closer to Jesus, too. But, I am most afraid of dying to myself, losing control, being vulnerable and giving my life completely to God. I am afraid that it will be a harder life. God will test me more or the devil will tempt me more because I am trying to give myself completely to God.
I know you have many other reasons, too. Today, let us be courageous men and woman, truly die to self and allow God to be in control. Jesus tells us in the Scriptures hundreds of times, “Be not afraid”. What is the worst that could happen? Eternal life with God, it is worth it!
Today’s challenge: Die to self totally and completely. Let Jesus love you.
Be a servant, be a saint today!

I thin k God is saying that we cant go into our own place or worship our own God. we need to worship jesus and pray to him.
In today’s scripture ” Be not afraid” stood out to me .I think it means that we should not be afraid of anything Because God is always with us.
Jesus Said Amen I say to you and I think this means like peace shall be within you and thence he shall come.Today’s Gospel talks about Elijah. Sorry My reflection was so short today this is all I got from the Gospel today.
I think the Gospel is about how the people around us might not accept us, but we need to keep showing them the way.
Jesus is present to us in all of our tabernacles, in prayer, and His word. We all have something going on in our life that we need healing for, when we need healing for something we need to go to God.
This gospel tells us that we aren’t accepting Jesus even when he accepted us. We are afraid. We are afraid to follow Him. We need to build ourselves up and try to follow Him. He will help us. He loves each of us so much that he died for us. We need to become involved and follow him in our daily lives now.
In the time of Israel there were many lepers. The people were angry that he was the only one that was healed from the curse of leprosy. I think this relates to our lives a lot because people are jealous of the people that get lucky. They don’t understand this is good there just very greedy and want everything to be fair.
When we give our life completely and totally to God, nothing bad can come from it. It may feel like we are losing control of our life but God has a plan for us. We should just let go and give everything to God. He will take everything off of our hands.
You need to have faith in the Lord. He is real if you do not respect Him then you will be punished. He loves everyone but you can’t hate Him. He created you and He loves you, Love Him back.
God will test me more or the devil will tempt me more because I am trying to give myself completely to God. This stuck out to me. I think it means that even though we know what we are called to do, and who we are called to be, it won’t be easy. To become the savior of the world Jesus didn’t just write a book or something, he trully practiced what he preached. He carried all of our sins.
Today’s scripture tells us that we should accept everyone, so God will accept us. We have a history of not accepting God. Jesus died on the cross to save us and we still didn’t accept Him.
To me I feel when they were all mad at Jesus for not healing them it was their fault. They wouldn’t follow Jesus so Jesus wasn’t going to help them. This is a good reminder of heaven and hell. It will be judgement day soon and do you think you have lived a good life following Jesus well that is a good question. What do you think. Lent is a time for us to reflect on that and try to be our best self.
This stuck out to me “He still has the power to heal today through priests, He is present in all of our tabernacles, with those in prayer, and His Word is always living and effective.” This stuck to me because it is saying that God is still with us we just can’t physically see him, so he is living through the priest and other Holy life.
Something that I got out of this was that if we follow Jesus we are not supposed to be accepted into the world, we are called to be different from what is normal in this world. My favorite bible verse of all time is, “If the world hates you, realize it hates me first.” This verse is amazing for this, and is very important.
And he said, “Amen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place,” Prophets will say stuff that is not as accepted in a culture even though it is correct, take Jesus as an example he said stuff that we know are true but people did not like his words and even killed him because of them. I think people throughout history might not fully understand the prophets words.
No prophet is accepted in his own native place. Jesus is telling us that we need to go out into the world to be missionaries in the world. We need to spread the word to places that don’t believe.
“devil will tempt me more because I am trying to give myself completely to God.“ I chose this in the scripture reflection because it can be relatable to a lot of people. When a lot of people try to get closer to God the devil does not like it and tries to sabotage them. It is a test to make sure we can stay close to God and stay in his mercy.
Jesus is telling me today that He loves me even when it doesn’t feel like it. We might feel like we are unwanted or not important to our family, friends, and others we know. He is always with us and He is just waiting for us to come to Him. Therefore, we shall grow in relation with Jesus Christ to find true happiness.
In the Gospel it surprised me when the people who heard Jesus preach drove him out. Jesus did escape the crowd though. What Jesus said made the people angry but he probably said it because they needed to know what he told them.
In the Gospel it surprised me when the people who heard Jesus preach drove him out. Jesus did escape the crowd though. What Jesus said made the people furious but he probably said it because they needed to know what he told them.
We often worry about our life. We are afraid of change. I know I am too! But change is a part of life. As much as we want things to stay the same, change happens. The seasons come and go, we grow up, we move on in life. Jesus wants to change you. When change happens, you don’t know if it is going to change for the better. But change with Jesus is always better. He wants nothing but the best for you. It may not seem like the best at first, but in the end, it’s always worth it.
“Be not afraid” god wants us to not be scared because he will come back for us
God will accept you no matter what others think of you. They are not important. Our lives are for God. We need God.
God is always trying to pull us to him giving us hints on how to get to him but we are throwing them away
he just wants us to come to him. In all his power and glory we still refuse him
Jesus had the power to heal, raise people from the dead, He is Word made Flesh to tell everyone about salvation and eternal life. He died on a cross for these people. he did all of this for us because of his love he loves us so much that he sacrificed him self to save our souls and the world.
You need to feel at home to be safe. You need Jesus to feel at home sometimes. Jesus is what we need. Heaven is our true home that we strive for.
Jesus is trying to tell us he died on a cross for everyone. Most people are afraid of dying to themselves, losing control, being vulnerable and giving my life completely to God. God will test us more or the devil will tempt us more because we are trying to give ourselves completely to God.
In today’s gospel, Jesus wants us to take care of the needy and not ignore them. Jesus wants us to be like him and we need to be Christ-like. Just like the lepers were out in the street and no one took care of them we need to be the one to help them and give them hope.
Today’s gospel is about not being accepted like how Jesus wasn’t accepted despite him healing and curing people the still didn’t accept him the son of God
In this gospel Jesus says that Elijah was sent for one person not the world. This makes the people in the synagogue mad. They take him to a hill and want to throw him off but he slips away. Jesus is here for the truth and the Jews can’t accept it we need to be like the apostles and trust Jesus with our lives.
“They rose up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong. But he passed through the midst of them and went away.” This part stuck out to me, because it shows that those who are loved by God are safe and protected, and what shall we be afraid of when we have God on our side? He made all of the things we are afraid of, and has power over them. So, similar to when Elisha walked straight through the crowd of people trying to kill him, we too may walk right through all of our fears when we have God with us.
This passage of the bible was a little hard for me to get something from but what I think it could be telling me is that Jesus has a plan. We don’t know why he only went to that one widow or why he only healed that one leper but that’s what he did and he did it for a reason. We don’t know why God does what he does and we may never understand his ways but what he does is for the best and we just have to learn to trust him.
But, I am most afraid of dying to myself, losing control, being vulnerable and giving my life completely to God. Afraid of God. That blows me away. I say I am not afraid to give everything up to God. I am though. It is terrifying to lose control of what you want to do it is scary to be vulnerable. I try to do it in little steps. Not a big step like giving up your phone. No. Just give up an app on your phone like a social media platform
Have we felt like we don’t belong in this world. Well you’re correct!! We never belong here, God sent us down here to realize that this isn’t where we belong. Heaven is our home because that’s our father, God’s children. Home is a place where we feel home at a place we never want to be at a place where we suffer of violence. God doesn’t want us to suffer at all. That’s where he promises us, and gives us eternal life in Heaven. Sin is a way to hurt God. Confession is what we use to give back to the father like mass. if we can Humbly submit ourselves to God, we can find ourselves closer to Christ. What we need is a relationship with God. Some keys are prayer, reading the bible, admiring God’s works, and rosaries are to get to mother Mary. If we do these things we find ourselves with Christ, and then we are home at last with God. The one who created us to be home with him.
What I think is that Jesus is saying that we will not be accepted all the time. Just like how he was not accepted in the world just like us. He was misunderstood. Just like us sometimes.
What scripture is trying to tell me is that you must give your life to him and God. The reason I think it is trying to tell me that is because you can only get to heaven through Jesus and to make it through Jesus you must believe in god the father.
“But, I am most afraid of dying to myself, losing control, being vulnerable and giving my life completely to God. I am afraid that it will be a harder life. God will test me more or the devil will tempt me more because I am trying to give myself completely to God.” this really stuck out to me because I relate to this a lot. the thought of giving myself up completely is scary. but in the end it will be worth it.
People always feel unaccepted whether it’s at school or are home. people just need to remember they always have God he will always be there for us. when we are in times of need Jesus is right there waiting for us to come to him.
” Amen, I say to you , no prophet is accepted in his own native place.” I think that God is trying to tell us that no prophet of any sort is more important than God. God is more important than any thing and he wants us to know that.
I feel like this passage is saying that God will accpet you no matter what. You can turn to him because not everyone will accpet you for who you are but God will he is a safe place and we want to grow a realtioship with him.
We have to accept Jesus and not be afraid to give up our life to him.
We should learn to do the right thing even when other people think its bad or wrong, Jesus preached even when people didnt like him doing it.
I do not like change at all. To me, it is one of the worst things. But God has the power to do anything. I know he will be there for me if I need him because that is what he would do for anyone. We don’t accept him because he is different and terrifies people but he will be there for them no matter what.
Only one of them was made clean, and the rest got jealous, and left town. This is saying that Jealousy can destroy us and take everything from us
Today Jesus does some special to special people and only them. It makes me wonder if I am special to Jesus. Like will he cure my sins. I think that Jesus cured those people because they believed in Him. That they were the only ones who thought Jesus was the one to cure them. So i believe that if I believe i Jesus Christ that I will be cured and saved. I think that’s what Jesus was telling me.
It is lent!! Closer to Easter but even closer to break!! I can’t wait to see my friends and go to my baby cousin’s baptism. I also am excited to become a godmother at my other baby cousins baptism!! I hope i can go since they dont live in Kansas but I am also praying that my cousin Rambo in Taiwan has a good marriage and can let em come to his next one in Taiwan (He got married in Thailand and I’m waiting to see when the one in Taiwan is going to happen) YYAYYAYAYYAYAYAAY
What this scripture is telling me is that we have to be more welcoming and we cant just leave people out. We need to be more kinder to each because that is what Jesus would do. We need to act more like Jesus because He is perfect in every way possible.
We have a very hard time accepting God. We say “I’ll pray later” or “I would rather be on my phone”. We get distracted and push God away even though he is our creator and we should love and listen to him.
What stuck out to me was When the people in the synagogue heard this, they were all filled with fury. This stuck out to me because why would they be mad, Jesus was trying to help them. Why did they never believe that it was Him. Jesus healed people and helped them. I hope that we truly believe in Him and can tell the gospel to others.
Jesus is saying that people might “drive you” out of town for what you believe in and if it happens then you should stick up for what you believe in. Jesus didn’t want to go on the cross, but he believed in the will of the Father in heaven and since he believed in Him, we all are now able to walk on the planet God created.
God reaches out to the needy which is Us, but its up to us if we choose to listen or drive him out of our lives. We cant just expect him to work in us if we don’t invite him to do so.
“The sky was closed for three and a half years and a severe famine spread over the entire land.” Everything happens for a reason. God knew that the famine was going to happen and he could have stopped it at any time, but he waited till the right time. It can be easy to turn away from God and be mad when something goes wrong, but we should realize that God has a reason for everything that he does. Losing a loved one can be extremely hard, but God is always there to help and protect you. There is more beyond this world. God knows when the time is right and we just need to trust him.
In todays Gospel Jesus tells us that no prophet is accepted in his own native place. What does that mean? to me it means that you’ll never get anything done if you are content, if you do only what you have to, only do the bare minimum, you are wasting your life, our lives are a gift that many people In our world are wasting. It’s a chance to get back to the father. Don’t be content, go out and teach people how wonderful God is. Stay out of your comfort zone. My cross country coach always said, comfort will kill you. We are getting too comfortable with doing the same thing every day. The devil is out to give us and were falling in his trap. God Is the answer. look to Him for a full life.
I think this means that God does not discriminate, he does not separate anything based on worldly status, wealth, or power. he separates based on your heart. he doesn’t separate race from race, neither male or female. he just judges us on our actions and our willingness to forgive or say “I am sorry”. He doesn’t care about any physical groupings, he cares about our good deeds.
God didn’t send Jesus to save the Jews, instead he did it for everyone. it doesn’t matter rich or poor, he wants us to be with him.
Anyone can turn their back on us, but Jesus chooses not to. Jesus always wants to help get us closer to Him so that we can live eternally with Him in Heaven after we have gone through sorrow and sin in this life. We have to constantly pray and get stronger in our faith and our love of Jesus. As long as we trust that Jesus will get us to Heaven we can get there through Jesus’ love.
“Jesus had the power to heal” this quote really hit me because no matter what happens Jesus can always heal us. He has all the power in the world to heal us.
I think God is trying to tell us that even if we are the greatest people on Earth, that does not mean we will make it to Heaven. Kings that do not believe in God will not make it to Heaven.
we may feel unaccepted but we are always accepted. by God. he accepts us for who we are and that is all we should care about.
In this scripture reflection I was reminded that even when others forget about me, God will always love me, want me, and chase me.
We don’t need acceptance from anyone, because Jesus accepts us no matter what
Like the Lord we should be caring and try to include everyone so that we all can be like Jesus and be Christ like and so we can be with him in heaven because if we are unaccepting of people we are unaccepting of Jesus because we are all one with him.
What stuck out to me was “But, I am most afraid of dying to myself, losing control, being vulnerable and giving my life completely to God. ” this stuck out to me because honestly i am afraid. i’ve always been afraid of death, so dieing for God is just as scary as dieing in general. I’m also kind of scared of change so it is really hard for me to change my lifestyle and to pray and talk to Jesus more but i’m finally starting to get the hang of it.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us no matter what our social status here on earth this does not matter in heaven.
In the scripture it says that Jesus has the power to heal and can raise people from the dead. Jesus has so much power that he can help us and is wanting and trying to help us. But we don’t notice and just think he’s not going to help us. All God wants is for everyone to get to heaven.
We can all feel alone at some point in our lives or unappreciated but Jesus doesn’t want us to be alone He wants us to know Him. But we have to want that too, we have to want to have a relationship with our Savior. “Amen, I say to you,
no prophet is accepted in his own native place.” but we will be accepted with God.
“Jesus tells us in the Scriptures hundreds of times, “Be not afraid”. What is the worst that could happen? Eternal life with God, it is worth it.”I think this means that we should not be afraid, but we should spend our time on earth preparing for Heaven. So, that we can have internal life in Heaven.
Jesus is talking about how, “no prophet is accepted in his own native place.” He is showing that we might not be accepted where we are right now. And that’s okay. We can be like the disciples were when Jesus sent them off in pairs of 2. He only gave them certain things, and had to rely on the good of people’s hearts to survive. Or we can be like St. Francis of Assisi, where he followed Jesus even to the point to live like he did.
Jesus wants us to go out of our way to help others. he talk about how the prophets were not excepted in their native town, implying that that was how it would be for him.
Die for Jesus. It could mean literally and not. Literally like some saints who died to defend Christ. Not like living your life and giving your life to God and not the world. Killing your life in the world to give it to God. It’s kinda a bad example but you get the idea. Living out of our world and giving everything to God. Jesus said one time that we have to take up our crosses and follow him, and whoever loses his life for Christ will save it and who ever saves his life will lose it. I feel like these go hand-in-hand and are some of the most important scriptures.
Let Jesus love you. It is hard to just let someone do anything. When you don’t see that you are loved then you just say I am not loved but Jesus has loved us since the beginning we can’t see it though so we need to be able to know and feel it. We need to learn how to feel. We need to know how God’s love feels instead of just saying I am not loved nor am I worthy. Nobody is worthy of God’s love but God is willing to give us His love and we should be able to accept it. We need to learn that we are worthy of love and we are always loved.
You may not be accepted everywhere but God still loves you.
“Be not afraid” stuck out to me because we should not be afraid of the Lord.
No prophet is accepted in his own place. This means to me that even though someone is good they may not be accepted. We have to do our best to get to God because we are always accepted into heaven if we are good.
To humbly summit yourself to God.Consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph. He still has the power to heal today through priests, He is present in all of our tabernacles, with those in prayer, and His Word is always living and effective.
“I know you have many other reasons, too. Today, let us be courageous men and woman, truly die to self and allow God to be in control. Jesus tells us in the Scriptures hundreds of times” This is something people shouldn’t just scan over but rather pay more attention, it is meaningful to the soul.
Today’s scripture reflection is telling me that sometimes we get left out and Jesus died on the cross for us and for people that did not like him. Jesus has the power to heal us and Jesus wants us to get closer to him.
I think Jesus is saying don’t act cool when you know its wrong you don’t have to change yourself to fit in be yourself and Jesus will do everything else.
“Yet they did not accept Him. Why? The same reason we do not accept Him.”
Sometimes we can think that God isn’t going to be here for us. He always is, God will never leave us.
You should not be afraid to become closer to God. When becoming closer to God you have a better relationship with him and are less likely to sin because God knows you better and you can know good from evil.
Afraid. Many different forms of being afraid. Being scared or thinking that you won’t be accepted. God is telling us that he excepts everyone. He gives everyone a chance and will. A choice that we have whether we choose right or wrong.
I will change for god because even though i might be scared i cannot back down because i know he would do the same for me.
We may not be accepted on earth, but we are always accepted in heaven. People here may hate us, ridicule us or outcast us purely for trying to help or because we are different, but that shouldn’t stop us from trying to help them. We need to continue on our way with our heads held high, looking to God so we may reach him.
God is telling us that he loves us with his whole heart. He died for us on the cross to save us from sin. If Jesus didn’t love us, He would’ve not died on the cross, but He loved us so much that He died on the cross to save us from sin. “AMEN, I SAY TO YOU, NO PROPHET IS ACCEPTED IN HIS OWN NATIVE PLACE.” This part struck me because even Prophets go to Heaven and stay with God.
In today’s gospel elijah was thrown out because he only healed 2 lepers instead some others. The Lord says even when you do good sometimes you will not be received by the people and sometimes you will be received.
I think the scripture is telling me that there is no other God other than God himself. We should also do as he say, we need to listen him and pray to him.
Jesus had the power to heal, raise people from the dead, He is Word made Flesh to tell everyone about salvation and eternal life. He died on a cross for these people.
Jesus is AMAZING. He can do anything! He even died on the cross for our sins.
The scripture is telling me that we may feel unaccepted somewhere or by someone.
Like Jesus he was unaccepted by many of the people when he had to carry the cross. He was excluded because he was able to do certain things and he got bullied because he said he was the son of God.
At times we may feel hurt or unwanted but think how Jesus still was kind and loving to everyone even when he was hurting.
I think today’s scripture is about being left out. In your lifetime you always get left out at least 1 time.
What this scripture said to me is that no matter what God is all ways there for us and our struggles
God is telling me to accept anyone and everyone in my life. There are people out there that are being left out constantly. No one should be left out “In its own native place”, that means no one should be alone. We need to accept others no matter what!!
In todays scripture its saying that God is telling me to accept everyone. There are many people who are being left out and alone. You may not be accepted by everyone, but God still loves you. We have to accept Jesus and not be afraid to give up are life to him.
God is telling us that we need to accept everyone in our life. There are people getting left out constantly. No one should be left out no matter what. Everyone deserves to be included. We need to accept other no matter what they have done.
Today’s gospel talks about a man getting his taxes forgiven or money that he owes him. But then another man that owes him less he didn’t forgive him. This is weird because it is different from our normal lives. We always want the more thing we can get.
Jesus had the power to heal, raise people from the dead, He is Word made Flesh to tell everyone about salvation and eternal life. He died on a cross for these people.
We need to forgive each other like Jesus always forgives us. He still loves us so much even after we sin a whole buncg of times. We all can be more kind and more forgiving to one another.
I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times. God’s love is unconditional, he will never stop forgiving or loving us, no one can take us from him.
What stuck out to me was forgive your brother from your heart. This stuck out to me cause how many times do we forgive but we still hold on to what they did. We have probably held a grudge for something that someone else has done to us, but have we ever truly forgiven someone without holding a grudge. Try to forgive someone truly from your heart like Jesus did.
Its hard not being accepted. No matter what we do we will never be accepted. Everything we do, we will always be judged. The “trends” are always changing and it always feels like we’re doing the wrong thing. I don’t understand why people are so judgy. We all sin, so why do some people get to judge people for sinning while they do the same thing. The one who can judge us is God. He is sinless.
The more we forgive the people who hurt us, the more forgiveness God will have in store for us. We have to take the time to break away from the anger or resentment we have towards the people that have harmed us. It’s like repainting something until it becomes new again, just the same way we become cleansed after confession.
we need forgiveness. like the servant. but we also need to forgive. God forgives us when we forgive others. if we don’t forgive, we are not forgiven. God’s forgivness is everything. so lets make sure we always have it when we do wrong.
we need to learn to accept others accepting is a way of healing and fixing of somebodies loneliness we need to be like Jesus and try to heal the broken hearts of others though its not like Jesus raising people from the dead are way of healing still helps us be like Jesus
Have you ever felt unaccepted somewhere?
You are never unaccepted into God’s Kingdom. He will always welcome you to his Kingdom and will never turn anyone down. You are meant to be with God, so live up to it.
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph. He still has the power to heal today through priests, He is present in all of our tabernacles, with those in prayer, and His Word is always living and effective.
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph. He still has the power to heal today through priests, He is present in all of our tabernacles, with those in prayer, and His Word is always living and effective.
“Amen, I say to you,
no prophet is accepted in his own native place.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that we might be rejected if we go out proclaiming the Gospel but that doesn’t matter when we just have to follow God.
Whenever we feel unaccepted somewhere it is hard. We need to remember no one is better than us except for God. We are all equal so when we don’t feel accepted just know you are. We might not be accepted everywhere but we just need to remember God accepts us and he only matters.
put God first in everything you do.. the people beside us may not believe but it is out God to continue to show them the way it doesn’t matter how much money you make some people think having money is going to separate you from the lord but it will be alright as long as God is your focus.
