Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

Brothers and sisters:
As a body is one though it has many parts,
and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body,
so also Christ.
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body,
whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons,
and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.

Now the body is not a single part, but many.

Now you are Christ’s Body, and individually parts of it.
Some people God has designated in the Church
to be, first, Apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers;
then, mighty deeds;
then gifts of healing, assistance, administration,
and varieties of tongues.
Are all Apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers?
Do all work mighty deeds? Do all have gifts of healing?
Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?
Strive eagerly for the greatest spiritual gifts. 1 Cor 12:12-14, 27-31

St. Paul teaches about the Catholic Church as the mystical Body of Christ.  The Holy Spirit is working through the humans of this time period (us) to keep the Truth, Jesus Christ alive.  If we fail, our children, our students, our parishioners, the Churches in our diocese fail. If they fail, the community around us fails.  If our communities fail, states fail, countries fail, the world fails.  Everyone has a purpose and is missed greatly without their contribution.  Paul teaches us a valuable lesson, each of us have spiritual gifts, “Strive eagerly for the greatest spiritual gifts.”  Each of us have a responsibility or duty in the mystical Body of Christ.  All parents are teachers and we don’t have to do mighty deeds.  St. Mother Teresa taught us, “It is not what we do, but how much love we put into it.”  The Devil many times makes us think we are not doing enough, or that we must gain more power, authority, money.  This just makes worry and steals our joy.  This is the opposite of what God wants.  Your vocation is right where you are, with the gifts you have, spiritually and physically, to be a great mother or father, priest, religious, and keep Jesus Christ alive.  Whenever one of us does something good it helps the mystical body, whenever someone does something bad it hurts the mystical body.  Pray, ask the Holy Spirit to join your spirit and guide you to know and use your spiritual gifts for the greater glory of God.  This is not about us, it is about glorifying God who has given us everything we have, who we are, and what our mission or purpose is here and now.

Today’s challenge: Learn about spiritual gifts, pray and ask God what spiritual gifts you have.  Don’t be afraid to talk about Jesus with your parents, parents don’t be afraid to talk to your children about Jesus.  If you don’t know what to say, pray and ask for strength, start reading the Bible together.  Read about saints, take a visit to the local Catholic bookstore and find a book to read together.  No matter how hard it is, we must pass Jesus Christ on to others.  This means you might need to fix some things in yourself first.

Be a servant, become a saint!
