“WHEN JOSEPH AWOKE, HE DID AS THE ANGEL OF THE LORD HAD COMMANDED HIM AND TOOK HIS WIFE INTO HIS HOME.” MT 1:16, 18-21, 24
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
In his book, The Mystery of St. Joseph, Marie-Dominique Philippe teaches that St. Joseph’s annunciation is today. When the angel Gabriel visits Mary, announcing the birth of our Lord, it is called the Annunciation. Today, an angel comes to Joseph in a dream to announce that the Holy Spirit put Jesus in Mary’s womb. The angel also announces that God wants Mary to be his wife, for them to be married. The “angel of the Lord” also announces to Joseph that he is to name the child Jesus “because he will save his people from their sins”.
The gospel says that Joseph is a “righteous man”. Joseph was chosen by God for a special mission. Mary has already consecrated herself totally to God, now can she also be a wife to St. Joseph? Only if Joseph supports her and consecrates himself to God, too. Joseph must keep silent in Mary’s secret with God, she is carrying the Savior of the world. He must be prudent, chosen by God, to protect Jesus and Mary from danger. Joseph is also called “the worker”. Joseph in his work supports his family financially.
He never speaks in the Bible. We learn that Joseph works and prays, his work is even prayer, offering it up to our Lord. He models for us how to “pray without ceasing”. Mary and Joseph never have relations consecrating themselves to God, we could use these great models of chastity and purity in our sex saturated world. Mary and Joseph, pray for us!
*I try to pray this prayer each morning as a father of children. I suggest mother’s pray it, too!
Prayer of Consecration to St. Joseph for one’s child(ren)
O Glorious St. Joseph, Guardian of the Redeemer, to your paternity the Everlasting Father committed the care of His only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. It was your singular privilege to hear the Eternal Word cry out to you “Abba”, Daddy.
It was your high calling to protect, nurture, provide for and deeply love Christ with a father’s heart.
With that same confidence and trust in your fatherly affection, I come to you this day and ask you to take under your special care the child(ren) that God has blessed me with.
As you guarded and cared for the Child Jesus, so too, as the universal patron of His Catholic Church, you protect and watch over His Mystical Body, which is made up of all baptized souls who are His members.
I consecrate ____________________ to your heart this day and trust in your constant care for them as your own spiritual child(ren). Guard and guide their every step in this life as they make their pilgrimage of faith. By your fervent prayer preserve the purity of their bodies, minds, hearts and souls. By your beautiful example help properly form their affections, appetites, desires and beliefs. Let no abuse, addiction, or demonic influence ensnare them. Defend them against all the dangers and corruption of this world. May they grow in grace and wisdom before God and man.
Dearest St. Joseph, hand in hand with our Blessed Mother Mary, lead us all to your divine son Jesus Christ and the eternal joy of Heaven. Amen.
Two must read books on St. Joseph:
1. “Brother Andre: Friend of the Suffering, Apostle of Saint Joseph” by Jean-Guy Dubuc
I have read this one. Brother Andre is now St. Andre Bessette canonized on Oct. 17th, 2010. He grew up very poor and had a digestive disorder so his favorite meal was flour and water. He wasn’t smart or athletic with a frail body, but he loved St. Joseph a devotion handed down to him by his mother. His intellect kept him from being a priest and the Holy Cross brothers nearly did not accept him. He spent his whole life being obedient to his order by being a porter, welcoming people onto the grounds of Holy Cross. He healed thousands and millions came to him in Canada. He healed through the intercession of St. Joseph. He always gave people St. Joseph medals and rubbed oil of St. Joseph on their bodies (specific to the founder of Holy Cross Brothers). He often prayed into the night to St. Joseph. He wanted to build a chapel in honor of St. Joseph and after he died the basilica of St. Joseph was completed. In it hundreds of crutches and canes are left behind of those St. Andre cured. He is the first male Canadian saint. This is a must read!
2. The Mystery of St. Joseph by Fr. Marie-Dominique Philippe, OD
This one is very deep if you want a theological challenge!
Today’s challenge: Be silent, be righteous (virtuous; morally correct), work and pray without ceasing.
We must have an unfailing devotion to Mary and Joseph. It only makes sense, they spent their lives totally and completely dedicated to God on earth, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. We have perfect models in them. Take time to find an app on St. Joseph and put it on your phone or tablet. Dedicate yourself to it. Read a book on St. Joseph, you won’t be disappointed. Pray to St. Joseph as well as Mary each day.
#Christian YOLO
Be a servant, be a saint today!
The Lord will always lead you down the right path no matter what even if you are trying to leave Him. The Lord wants you to be successful and the Lord wants you to love Him back. The Lord works in amazing ways just trust and love Him.
“The gospel says that Joseph is a “righteous man”. Joseph was chosen by God for a special mission. Mary has already consecrated herself totally to God, now can she also be a wife to St. Joseph.” That stuck out to me because it is saying that God calls us to do something and do the right thing just like how Mary was called to be the mother of Jesus. God sent his angel to ask Mary to be the mother of a son and his name would be Jesus. She said yes to God so she grew closer to him.
What I am getting from today’s scripture is to not judge someone without knowing them or their story. We always so quick to judge people but we don´t know how it affects them.We like judging others but when others do it to us we don´t.
Something that I thought was interesting was how important our earthly fathers are to us. They help us grow up. If we don’t have them then we will struggle so much. Studies have shown that people without fathers in their life are more susceptible to being homeless or having bad jobs. So make sure to thank your fathers, because they do more than anything we can imagine, and are a example of our heavenly father.
To me this gospel is showing an example of how we should act and what we should look up to. Joseph was a great father and example. Even when something is hard and someone is telling us to do when it is right we should look up to him just how he excepted what Gabriel told him that night.
Joseph was planning on marrying Mary, but when he found out that she was going to have a child, he was going to divorce her. He didn’t want to make her embarrassed so he did it quietly. We can all learn something from this.
“It was your high calling to protect, nurture, provide for and deeply love Christ with a father’s heart.” This can mean even though he wasn’t a father he had what it took to be a father, and sometimes it can be a challenging thing to just accept a child who you have no idea what to do. Fathers are loving, caring, hard working, respectful, honest most of the time, and more . It takes a lot to be a father but Joseph did for Jesus.
“When the angel Gabriel visits Mary, announcing the birth of our Lord, it is called the Annunciation. Today, an angel comes to Joseph in a dream to announce that the Holy Spirit put Jesus in Mary’s womb. The angel also announces that God wants Mary to be his wife, for them to be married.” this part of the scripture for today stuck out to me because it tells us about the time that Mary was asked to be the mother of Jesus. It also tells us about when St. Joseph was called to be Mary’s husband and to take care of Jesus. We all need to act like Mary when she accepted Jesus to be in her womb. Just as Mary accepted God’s will, should we.
Joseph says yes to the will of God. He didn’t have to say yes, but he did. He said yes because he wanted to please God. He raised Jesus as his own son and showed Him to love others.
St. Joseph is a hard worker and protective for us. He protected Mary and Jesus from demons and is also protecting us. God chose Joseph to protect Mary and Joseph, as well as consecrating himself to God. This day is a solemnity, so we should go and do something good for ourselves. We should pray to God and thank him for everything, especially for a saint who protects us.
Joseph listened to God and did what he told him to do. We need to follow what Joseph did. If God tells us to do something we should do it. Everything God tells us to do is for the better.
What I got from today’s scripture is that we should be like Joseph. It says that Joseph was a righteous man and chosen for a special mission. We need to be like Joseph because Joseph consecrated himself to God like we should. We should take care of Jesus as well as Joseph would’ve by protecting Christ’s name. We should be just as prudent and caring as Joseph like he was to his family.
Joseph listened to God when he asked him to do the I’ll of God…..
“Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man,* yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly.” Today is the day we honor Joseph as Jesus’ father. This quote shows that even though Joseph was unsure of marrying Mary, because she was pregnant, he still didn’t want to make a big scene and shame her. Instead he was going to divorce her quietly. Even though he didn’t end up doing this, it still shows he was honorable.
Joseph had divorced Mary in the quiet so that he didn’t want to embarrass her this is another reason why he is the best man to be the father of Jesus.
“He did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him.” Joseph was planning on divorcing Mary quietly until the angel of the Lord came to him. The angel told him to accept Mary as his wife and be loving to Mary and Jesus. He accepted it because he realized that was God’s will for him. Therefore, ask for the intersession of St. Joseph and do the will of God just like he did. St. Joseph, Pray for us!
The angel telling Joseph to not be afraid to take Mary into his house because she conceived Jesus through the Holy Spirit is showing us how we need to follow the Will of God like Joseph did in letting Mary in his home.
“When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home” Joseph was obedient to the will of God and he ended up being a saint. Joseph shows us that when we follow the will of God great things will happen to us.
An angel comes to saint Joseph and he asks him to become the husband of Mary. Saint Joseph obeys God and listens right away. We should be listening and ready to obey what God has in plan for us. We should remember that he loves us and wants the best for us. He loved saint Joseph and made him be the father of Jesus and take care of him and Mary.
Today’s Gospel talks about Joseph and how hi life played out also he said no words in the bible ever and Joseph was trying to protect Mary from getting stoned for adultering.
I think what I learned about Joseph He did so much and never asked any questions just did and he did some hard things but he did not care because he trusted everyone.
I think the gospel is trying to tell us that Saint. Joseph worked hard for Jesus and Mary and protected Jesus and kept them fed.
We must have a massive devotion to Mary and Joseph. It only makes sense, they spent their lives totally and completely dedicated to God on earth, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. We have perfect models in them.We need to dedicate our lives to God.Being dedicated to Mary and joseph is a way to go back to God.
God will always lead you to the right thing. It may not seem like the right thing at that time but it will be in the end. We have a conscience for a reason. Everything that God does has a reason. You should trust in the lord.
“WHEN JOSEPH AWOKE, HE DID AS THE ANGEL OF THE LORD HAD COMMANDED HIM AND TOOK HIS WIFE INTO HIS HOME.” Joseph was very obedient. He did not fight, or hesitate after hearing what the Lord told him to do. we need to be more like Joseph. Not just to God but to everyone.
“With that same confidence and trust in your fatherly affection” he is more than just Jesus’ foster father he is also a part of the holy family!!!
St. Joseph was assigned to be a protector of Mary and Jesus. He had to find shelter for Mary, keep her and Jesus safe from Herod, and keep Mary’s secret that she was pregnant with the messiah. Joseph was a great example of how to treat others. Even if you aren’t head of the house, you can still follow St. Josephs path.
The Lord will always lead you down the right path no matter what even if you are trying to leave Him. The Lord wants you to be successful and the Lord wants you to love Him back. The Lord works in amazing ways just trust and love Him.
Joseph was always obedient and kind. He did what the angel asked of him because he knew that it was God’s will. Even when he thought Mary had committed adultery he didn’t want her to be harmed. We should strive to be like Joseph and follow the will of God and forgive others of their sins.
This story is what we should live life. We should accept God’s calling where we can be successful. Most people don’t listen to God because they feel like this is more important than him. It’s like we just fail in life. God has called me to do something with my talents as a musician to play for God, but mostly its to share my story with others. I want to help others grow in there faith so they can have a deep relationship with God. I want to help others with faith. People these days want to hide there faith so that they can be accepted into others. that’s not what we want to do. Pray to Saint Joseph so that he can help you with callings or pray a for help in vocations. We should do what God called us to do. Not hide it like others.
In the gospel Joseph takes Mary into his home even though he thought she committed adultery. We need to be like Joseph and forgive people and still invite them in.:)
“When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.” This part sticks out to me, because it shows Joseph’s obedience to the Lord’s will. The angel came to him, and told him what to do, so he did it. This shows that we should do as the Lord asks, and be obedient to His will. He knows what is truly the right path for us, and He will guide us to that path as long as we are obedient to Him.
Joseph always listened to God and told him what to do and he did it. We need to be like Joseph and do what God tells us to do. When God tells us to do something we need to do it because everything God tells us to do is for the better.
I think the gospel is telling us to try to be more like St Joseph. because he consecrated himself fully to God like how we need to consecrated ourselves fully to God.
I love how much trust both Mary and Joseph put into Jesus. He was asking them to do something that would be really hard to say yes to yet they still gave their yes to him and through that yes they also gave him their lives. I think that our world needs to learn to say “yes” to Jesus more often because how many times a day do we deny Jesus to ourselves without even realizing it? We do this by sinning and not doing acts of kindness when we easily could be. We need to learn to see the opportunities that Jesus sets before us and seize them because if when we do, we are saying “yes” to Jesus by showing his love through your actions.
The gospel today talks about how Joseph was the father of Jesus. It says that Joseph was a righteous man. I think that it says this because Joseph was chosen to be the earthly father of Jesus and that is a big responsibility. Today we celebrate St. Joseph and the role he played in Jesus’ life. St. Joseph is a roe model for men like Mary is to women.
In this gospel the angel told Joseph that Mary conceived Jesus from the Holy Spirit because that is why Joseph was going to divorce her. I think he is a great man because he was going to do it quietly. In my opinion that is so respectful and kind that he didn’t want to embarrass her.
In this todays scripture it says “When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home”. Joseph was panning on marrying mary. Joseph had listen to God and what he had to do. Joseph had divorced Mary in the quiet so that he didn’t want to embarrass her . This is why we should listen to God because h loves us and knows whats best for us.
St. Joseph is a good saint to look up to cause he was an amazing father and person. He was a hard worker and a loving father and obeyed God in any condition. He was always caring and made sure to take care of Mary and Jesus.
Jesus is trying to tell us that Joseph was a righteous man. Joseph was chosen by God for a special mission to be Mary’s husband. Mary has already consecrated herself totally to God, now it was Joseph’s turn. Therefore, ask for the intersession of St. Joseph and do the will of God just like he did.
I consecrate ____________________ to your heart this day and trust in your constant care for them as your own spiritual child(ren). I think what goes in the blank is love. It could also be hope. There are a lot of different words that come to mind when I saw the blank. Love was the first word that came to mind though.
It was your high calling to protect, nurture, provide for and deeply love Christ with a father’s heart. I think these are some strong words. I like how it say “with a father’s heart” it just makes it feel more powerful. It makes it seem like it has more of a meaning. It is only protecting the father but also to provide what we need to do with/for God.
His loyalty made him a good father to Jesus and a good husband to Mary. God was his constant companion until death he always was trusting Him. he had to have a lot of courage to just follow God.
What I am getting from today’s scripture is that are presents love us and care for us and help us get throw life and help us grow up.
Joseph listend to God and trusted him even when the time was tough, Especially when finding out when Mary was pregnant he had to stay strong and trust Gods plan, we could look up to St.Jospeh for that.
We need to trust our fathers
This is telling us that no matter the situation, God knows best. Joseph wanted to divorce Mary because of shame, but God intervened and told Him no.
What stuck out to me is he was not going to put Mary to shame. I feel that other people would just tell everyone but Joseph didn’t and I have always wondered why he didn’t. Joseph didn’t put Mary to shame so why should we put other people to shame. Today try to help someone and be kind.
Joseph was a good holy man. therefore he was chosen by God to raise Jesus. Following God and worshiping him we will be rewarded with eternal life with Christ. Joseph was a hard worker and a good man and that is why he was chosen.
What Jesus has done in this passage is that, in tradition, Mary and Joseph, leave the town in order to follow the festival tradition but Jesus sneaks away and doesn’t go with His parents. He instead goes back to the Temple and teaches the towns teachers. We should be like Jesus and teach other people to be holy not to run away from our own parents though.
Joseph was chosen by God to be the husband of Mary. He chose Joseph because he knew that Joseph was loyal and willing. We should strive to be like Joseph because despite uncertainty in his life he still chose to listen to God. He is the perfect role model for anyone.
“He will save his people from their sins.” God loves us so much that he gave us his son to save us. God loves us so much and will do anything to save us. Jesus suffered and he knew what was going to happen but he still accepted the will of the Father. Jesus never got mad or angry at the people who were crucifying him. He never argues with the crowd that was mocking and laughing at him. We must learn from his example and learn to forgive others. Jesus forgave us so we must do all we can to forgive others.
Saint Joseph shows us that God always has a plan. Joseph didn’t want Mary to be harmed so he was going to divorce her silently. He ended up having a Guardian Angel come to him to tell him he needed to stay with Mary because she was carrying Jesus. Saint Joseph shows courage and faith, because of the grace of God.
It took a lot of faith and courage to do what he did. He knew what her situation was and rather than thinking about the bad, he put his faith and trust in God. He took Mary and Jesus to the land of Egypt where Herod couldnt do anything to them. It took lots of courage to do this as well.
Even though Joseph thought Mary had committed adultery he brought her back into his house, and forgave her even though he felt hurt from that. we should forgive people even if they do or son’t do something wrong and love people.
Mary got pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Then the Holy Spirit also came to St. Joseph. That alone tells us that the Holy Spirit is always there. Whether it’s through a hard time or the best time of your life the Holy Spirit is always there. So that gives us many people to pray too. The Holy Spirit, Mary, Jesus, and God but then also St.Joseph to protect you. So we have all these people to pray to so how do we not pray often enough. We have all these people and we still rather choose to do something else. Change that. Take the time today to change that and make time for those people. Pray to them, they will do great things in your life.
Joseph went through so much. He had the responsability of protecting God! The devil was out to get Jesus from the first moment. that’s why Joseph is called the terror of demons because they could not harm Jesus. Ask Jesus to fight off your temptation. There’s no better way to fight sin
Jesus is trying to tell us we should always try to be with him whenever we can, Jesus shows us his example when he was 12 or 13. Instead of going to a Passover feast with the rest of his family, he went to the temple and asked the scribes and Pharisees amazing questions and answered them with perfection. When Mary and Joseph did eventually find him, he said that they shouldn’t have been so frantic because they should have known that he would be in his fathers house.
If I was Joseph and i had a wife who got pregnant, I’d be so angry, but he acted a bit better than I would, if Mary said “i’m a virgin but I had a child from God”. I’d laugh and pack my bags and go, it would sound like a lie to me. Glad that he chose to stay and take care of the kid rather than divorce for thinking adultery happened. Jesus was born Mary and Joseph help raise him and then boom, he is the Living God himself on the planet saving people from sin. He must have been so proud of him when he realized that. He’s a good father figure, glad he was there for his kid and his wife.
It’s common for us to sometimes drift away from the people who hurt us or make us unhappy. We usually lean on the people we can trust and who treat us right. Sometimes though, we can see a situation the wrong way and it can make us see somebody as a bad person. When Joseph knew that Mary was pregnant, he thought silently divorcing her was the right thing to do, but it wasn’t. God lead Joseph in the right direction by being honest and patient with Joseph. An angel came to Joseph in his dreams, and that angel gave Joseph a clear message from God: To be the loving father of Jesus and the loving husband of Mary.
This gospel today is about trusting in God, it was hard for Joseph to not divorce Mary but he listened and trusted God without asking any questions and all worked out.
We must have a massive devotion to Mary and Joseph. It only makes sense. They spent their lives totally and completely dedicated to God on earth. Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. We have perfect models in them.We need to dedicate our lives to God.Being dedicated to Mary and Joseph. This is a way to go back to God.
I feel like this Gospel is trying to tell us that our parents aren’t perfect and neither are we. We all make mistakes and we will all sin in our lives so we should try and give our parents grace.
In the scripture it said that even if we don’t want to listen to God that we need to listen to him and trust him.
In this scripture reflection I was reminded that I don’t only have just one father, but one who is also looking out for me in Heaven, God the Father. This reminded me to love Him as a father and look up to Him for guidence.
“Joseph was chosen by God for a special mission.” Just like Joseph was chosen by God we are chosen. Each and every one of us. We are chosen for a special reason. We must accept the mission that God hands on to us
God is always trying to talk to us and give us signs but we don’t notice because we don’t listen. We need to listen for and seek God more
Joseph is a rightous man. When he found out that Mary was having a child and it wasn’t with him he could have chosen to make a big deal of it and have Mary put to death. But since he was rightous, he would divorse her quietly so no shame would fall onto her. Until he was told by and angel the story and he kept Mary as his wife and protected her as much as he could.
Joseph was chosen by God. In the same way each of us are chosen by God to fulfill his task he has set before us. God knows us better than we know ourselves and has a plan. Keep in Gods favor and you will be rewarded.
we need to stop worrying so much about other people and there life we need to stop comparing ourselves and judging ourselves or other people you have no right to think your better than someone even though it is hard sometimes we should always try and stay humble. Jesus has a different plan for every single of us and they are all equally great.
St Joseph was one of the main reasons that Jesus was able to grow up and die for are sins through not divorcing Mary after he learned that she was pregnant before they ever with each other and through him taking them to Egypt to protect them from
king Hared so that Jesus could live so he has been protecting his family through his entire life and as Catholics we should take example of him and protect are families to.
He did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him.” We should be able to do as we are told but since we think we have free will and know what is best for us we don’t do what was told. We need to be able to do as we are told since sometimes we don’t even know what we should do, but that is when someone helps us and we need ears to listen. Sometimes all we need to do is listen but since we think we are on a higher pedestal than everyone around us but we are the same. We are made in God’s image and are the same the poor are related to the rich and the rich are related to the poor. We need to recognize when we should stop talking and listen to what others have to say.
In the Gospel while Joseph finds out Mary is pregnant. That must have been so shocking and painful for him, because it would be like Mary betrayed him but Mary was in the grace of God and Jesus was conceived by the Holy spirit. Joseph is very trusting and brave in this Gospel. He is a great model for dads but for mothers too, for all of us actually we have to trust in God and believe He will put us on the right track.
Joseph is the shining example of why we should trust God in everything. When Mary told Joseph that she was pregnant Joseph was devastated. But then Joseph has this vision from an angel. He is told that Mary is pregnant from the Holy Spirit. He is also told part of Jesus’ plan. He is told that Mary will have Jesus, who will take away the sins of the world and cleanse us. But Joseph is also a righteous man when Mary told him that she was pregnant Joseph was going to divorce her quietly so that Mary wouldn’t get stoned. Showing how good of a man and father he truly was.
St. Joseph was assigned to be a protector of Mary and Jesus, and St. Joseph is a hard worker and protective for us.
Something I learned from the Scripture today was that Joseph could have shamed her and stoned her but he decided against it because of the Holy Spirit in his dream this shows that staying loyal to God is harm because you are always getting tempted by the devil but if you listen to God great things will come out of it.
God has a very different plan for every single one of us we have no right to judge another person and their story but we all fall to sin and no one is perfect.
god tells us that we must honor our father and mother, and feel that this is the commandment that we make most often, even though it is extremely important. they even put it in the gospel today, that jesus went back with them and was obedient to them.
We don’t listen to Jesus when he’s trying to give signs and stuff and we need to work on that more.
Joseph had divorced his wife Mary because as quietly as possible because he did not want to embarrass Mary.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that when we hear the holy spirit we should listen to it, obey it, and ask for it to enlighten us because when Joseph was asked by the angel he approved just like we should.
“He did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him.” Joseph was planning on divorcing Mary quietly until the angel of the Lord came to him. The angel told him to accept Mary as his wife and be loving to Mary and Jesus. He accepted it because he realized that was God’s will for him.God sent his angel to ask Mary to be the mother of a son and his name would be Jesus. She said yes to God so she grew closer to him.
I think the gospel is telling us to try to be more like St Joseph because he consecrated himself to god and that’s whet we need to do
I think Jesus is saying he needs us to listen to him so he can guide you to heaven even if you don’t want to listen you need to.
St. Joseph was and still is a great person, Father, and Saint. He has always been here for us and he will always be here for us, like when he held baby Jesus in his arms. In that moment, he swore to protect Jesus for his whole life, and that’s what he is going to do and continue to do with us forever.
In the scripture it said that the Angel told Joseph to take Mary into his home and that is what he did.We need to listen to God just like Joseph did.We need to follow Jesus like Joseph did and then we will all be called to Heaven.
This scripture tells us that God has a plan for all of us and they are all different. We need to trust in him and know that whatever our plan is it will work out if we trust in God.
When we are in our own path of following Christ we are unsure of others. Like Joseph we need to be willing to follow and do what God has said even if it makes us help someone else on a path we don’t know. He listened to God, the Holy Spirit, and kept Jesus safe until death as an example of an extraordinary father
We must have an unfailing devotion to Mary and Joseph. It only makes sense, they spent their lives totally and completely dedicated to God on earth, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. That is what really stuck out to me because they we should respect both God and his parents.
Today in the Gospel joseph was visited by an angel telling him the great news that he could be the father of Jesus and Joseph decided he would be the earthly father for Christ. I enjoyed this reading because it talks about how Joseph took Mary and Jesus and accepted them into his home.
God is telling us that St. Joseph could’ve said no to being Jesus’ father, but he didn’t. St.Joseph got assigned to be Jesus’ protector and taught Jesus how to love and care about people. St Joseph consecrated himself to God to be Jesus’ father. “WHEN JOSEPH AWOKE, HE DID AS THE ANGEL OF THE LORD HAD COMMANDED HIM AND TOOK HIS WIFE INTO HIS HOME.” This part struck me because St. Joseph could’ve ignored God and live a normal life, but he didn’t, he choose to be Jesus’ dad.
“Joseph, son of David,
do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.
For it is through the Holy Spirit”
When Joseph awoke,
he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him
and took his wife into his home.
We need to trust in God like Joseph did. Even though it would be hard Joseph accepted Mary and Jesus and taking them into his home. We need to also accept Jesus for he will help us.
The gospel says that Joseph is a “righteous man”. Joseph is also called “the worker”. This perfectly describes Saint Joseph. He was a loyal servant and works very hard to provide for his family. He was a perfect example of Jesus’ disciples.
St. Joseph was planning on divorcing Mary because she was going to have a baby. I think St.Joseph was a good saint because he was a good father and a good person.
Joseph protected his family and would do anything for them. Mary was willing to do what God needed. We want to be like them, to help others to heaven isn’t easy and neither is doing the Fathers will. We must be strong like Joseph.
This scripture is telling me that we have a great guy to look up to. Joseph is the example of how we should act and who to look up to. Joseph was always acting not for himself but for others. We know that Joseph wanted to marry Mary but when she got pregnant he was unsure and wanted to divorce, he didn’t want to embarrass her so he divorced her in quiet. We can all learn something from Joseph.
“Joseph was a righteous man.” He was chosen by God for a special mission, which was being the Father of the Lord, King of Kings. He kept a secret, his work helped his family financially, and heprotected Mary from any kind of harm. This reminds me of how God has chosen me for special missions. Those missions are so special to me in my own way, just how the mission of raising Jesus was such a special mission to Joseph.
St Joseph was a protector with Mary and Jesus and also he is a hard worker and protects all of us. He was also why Jesus was able to live and grow.
“WHEN JOSEPH AWOKE, HE DID AS THE ANGEL OF THE LORD HAD COMMANDED HIM AND TOOK HIS WIFE INTO HIS HOME.” Joseph was obedient to the will of God and he ended up being a saint. He did not fight, or hesitate after hearing what the Lord told him to do.
st Joseph was so protectful of his family. was also very ritegeos. and connected the new testament and old testiment
In this gospel I thought about how I can only control my future not my past and Gods commandments help me get on that path and too stay on that path.
“When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home” Joseph was obedient to the will of God and he ended up being a saint. Joseph shows us that when we follow the will of God great things will happen to us.
