Prayer Prompt before reading JN 8:31-42: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.

“AMEN, AMEN, I SAY TO YOU, WHOEVER KEEPS MY WORD WILL NEVER SEE DEATH.” JN 8:31-42

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Jesus is taking off the gloves and using fighting words with the Jews now. They picked up stones to throw at Him. Jesus is continuing to stand firm that He is the Son of God and one with the Father who sent Him. ”Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never see death.” Radical. Jesus puts His Word above death. Are you striving to live His Word?

Next, the Jews ask if Jesus is above the covenant of the Torah given to Abraham by God himself. This is a whopper! Jesus answers, ““If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing; but it is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’You do not know him, but I know him. And if I should say that I do not know him, I would be like you a liar. But I do know him and I keep his word. Abraham your father rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad.”

Jesus tells the Jews He knows God much better than they do and calls them liars if they do not believe Him. Then, He puts himself above the great patriarch of the Old Testament, Abraham and says that Abraham rejoiced at seeing Jesus, the Savior.

Last, Jesus puts the icing on the cake. The Jews of course ask how Jesus knows Abraham rejoiced at seeing Him. Jesus replies, “Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I AM.” Jesus calls Himself God once again! These words of Jesus are complete blasphemy or complete Divine Revelation. This is the dividing point for all of us.

Do we believe in what Jesus said (ultimately believing He did die and rise making everything He said true)? Or do we kinda believe, or is there time to believe later, or do we not want to totally commit because we might have to change or be transformed. Believing in anything with our whole heart and soul will be the hardest thing we ever commit to.

It is going to take an act of God (the death and resurrection of His only Son and His grace-both free gifts given to us-is there ever been greater love by another for us) to move our hearts and souls to believe in Jesus Christ, His Word, and life after death. “And when the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, “Then who can be saved?” And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” MT 19:25-26

Let God love you. He is fighting for you. He sent His only Son for you. Does this mean anything to us? God’s entire purpose is to create us, love us, and bring us back home to heaven. Our entire purpose is to gain this knowledge on earth, love Him back, serve Him by loving and serving others doing His will, and returning back to Him in our heavenly home.

Distractions, distractions, we allow so many distractions and selfishness to get in the way of this Divine Plan. It’s Lent, pray, fast, give alms and sit quietly in the Adoration chapel or an empty church and tell God you are all in, ask Him to take the wheel, it’s time to start living not just existing.

Today’s challenge: Ask Jesus to help you believe. “Jesus, I believe, help my unbelief.” MK 9:24

I think that Jesus is trying to tell us that when he says he is abraham that we should of believe him because he is Gods son he wouldn’t lie to us.

In today’s gospel the Lord speaks to the same Jews who still do not believe he is the son of God they say he is disgracing father Abraham’s name by claiming you knew God before him. Little did they know Jesus did meet God before Abraham for his God. They still do not believe so they throw stones at him but he hid and leaves the temple area.

“If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing” this is the phrase that everyone NEEDS to hear today in this world. many people forget that they are not greater than God,so they start to give themselves praise, when they SHOULD be praying to God the Lord almighty.

Do we believe in what Jesus said
This specific line stuck out to me in todays scripture reflection because we have to believe in what Jesus says. Everything he says it is the truth, he speaks only the truth, and we have to believe every word he says to us and to other people so we can strive to grow closer to Jesus Christ.

In this Gospel, I believe Jesus is trying to tell us that when He meant that the prophets will never taste death. I believe he was trying to say that they would have eternal life with God. I also believe Jesus is trying to say that he is always present, and he was even before Abraham but will always be in our lives especially today and all the days to come

In today’s Gospel I think that Jesus is telling all the people that if they stay in God we will spend all of eternity with him. The Jews heard this and tried to challenge him with questions like “Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say,
‘Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.'” and this goes to show Jesus’s cleverness cause he didn’t mean literal death he meant that we wont go to hell cause everyone dies but those who go to Heaven live eternal life with God.

In this scripture it says that we let distractions take over our lives and that is true, we let so many things get in the way of us and Jesus and going to mass and praying. Our phones, tv, sports everything we do can be a distraction to Christ but we need to learn how to control it in a way that makes it so we can still have those things but we still put Jesus first.

Jesus is telling everybody that He is the Son of God but the Jews don’t believe Him. Just like in our life it is hard to believe in Jesus all the time because of what happens in life or if He doesn’t answer our prayers. Jesus is revealing Himself today at Mass. The Jews didn’t believe Him just like we don’t believe in Him but we have all we need such as Mass, sacraments, and the Bible to let us get closer to Him.

Do we believe God is our savior? Do we really think he is real or are we just “believing” in him so we can get to heaven. You can’t go to heaven if you don’t put all your trust into God. It’s a hard thing to do but once you really have faith no one can take it away from you. What is the worst thing that can happen if you really believe in God though? You can either go to heaven or you can just be a good person if it turns out he isn’t real so nothing bad can happen that is why we should put all our faith into God.

“Jesus tells the Jews He knows God much better than they do and calls them liars if they do not believe Him.” Today God is telling me that Jesus is living proof of God. All of the saints are living PROOF of God. If you ever think that God is fake then keep on praying to Him because He is real and one day you will realize it. Give your life to God as He stands right before our eyes. An example that God is real is us and our everyday life. Pray and pray and pray to help you get closer to Him for He is our way and our truth

In the Gospel Jesus says “I AM” meaning he is the one who was sent to save us and he is God and he does all these great things yet the Jews and the Pharisees still don’t believe him. Sometimes we all find ourselves not really believing in Jesus or thinking there is time to believe later, but now is the best time to trust in God because we don’t know when we will die

In this what stands out is the I would be like you, a liar. I think we all have lied once, after all we are all human. In this Jesus is also saying that if we say we don’t believe him then were lying. Another thing that stuck out was Jesus calling himself man saying, I AM.

This is the moment where Jesus proclaims to be God. When he said “before Abraham, I AM.” This shows that Jesus is God. The one before all. Do we believe. Do we believe that Jesus is Lord. Do we simply forget because we do not care or we just don’t believe. If we are the ones that do not care; as Jesus says “Amen Amen, I say to you whoever keeps my words will never see death”. Do you believe in the Gospel, that Jesus died and rose from the dead. This is the ultimate belief in our Catholic lives. What makes us so tempted by the devil to think this is fake, or this is just wrong to believe in. I will tell you that. Jesus’s divine mission was to serve not save. As us Catholics we are called to serve. Believe in this, this is what will save you. Believe that there’s one God and I am not him. Because we are not perfect and when somebody tells you that you are perfect you are not. Because no one is perfect like God, and has the power to do so. This is your soul. We all have to believe in, and that is God. The one that turns the body to flesh, and wine to the blood of Christ. BELIEVE

In today’s Gospel Jesus tells the Jews “‘whoever keeps my word will never see death.'” but the Jews don’t start to believe Him instead they say “‘Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? Or the prophets, who died? Who do you make yourself out to be?'” They don’t believe Jesus. Jesus tells them all that is true and this only makes them angry and they prepare to stone Him. God only wanted to spread His word to save them. To save us. He put Himself in many dangerous situations just for our salvation and people would get mad at that and mad at Him. All Jesus ever did was love us and we need to be loving as well.

In the first sentence of the Gospel today Jesus is already talking about heaven and if you follow him you shall not die. Now this could have been and was very confusing for the Jews because they did not understand that he was talking about heaven and not he earthly world. Of course we will die in this world our bodies can’t live forever. But as you can see later in the Gospel they say they know he is possessed because he is saying that they will never die if they follow his word. Again they bring up the prophets and that they died. They think he is blasphemous because they think he is saying he is better than Abraham even though he is. Jesus says in response to this that he can’t say who he is because then there is no glory. Then he says that Abraham warned for me. He taught about me. Then they say he is not 50 so he couldn’t have seen Abraham. Then Jesus says I AM. I AM before Abraham and everything else. So then they got really angry because they thought he was being blasphemous and started throwing stones and he left.

Jesus is again explaining to the same Jews who He is, and they are openly rejecting Him once again. If you think about it, these are people who have known Him His whole life. So when He tries to explain who He is, they are confused, not understanding what He is saying. So they go after Him and chase Him out of the temple area, because they believe HIm to be possessed or blaspheming. They are blinded by their expectations of what they want the messiah to be, not what He is. So when He explains to them, they do not listen, and they do not understand. Despite this, Jesus calls us to take time to listen to His word. He does not always expect us to get it at first, but He is plainly telling us who He is. He calls us to follow Him, because He knows what is best for us.

He didn’t come to this earth trying to please everyone and making everyone happy, but do say what really mattered.

Some of us may act like we are Christlike, but behind the scenes we are not. If we are truly Christlike, we should act like it publicly and privately. We need to have faith that God has a plan for all of us.

Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you,

    So they picked up stones to throw at him;
but Jesus hid and went out of the temple area.
Jesus is just trying to tell us that he is, the living son of God, but no one believes him. They went out of there way to try and stone him, for what!? i understand that Jesus said “‘Amen, amen, I say to you,

Would you want Jesus to suffer like this? Jesus went through so much denile, beatings, and so much hurt, for us. Yet we have nothing to give him, you should be able to give Jesus everything, and anything. Yet you can’t seem to find anything to give him. You may be like : “I need to give up something greater”. No! you don’t need to all Jesus wants is for is to be his disciples and yet we cant deliver that Wish that he wants. Yet we still want to give him a gift, a ‘true’ gift.     Jesus says, “I am,” which was him declaring that he is the Son of God. Even when the people at the temple were saying that Abraham and the prophets are dead, and asking if He was greater than Abraham. Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing;
but it is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.'” Jesus showed humility and confidence yet the people in the temple attempted to throw rocks at Him before He fled.

I think that today in the Gospel God is telling us that He, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit have always existed, are existing, and will always exist. Even after this earthly world ends, they will still exist, and all of those who believed and followed God will exist with them, too.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus talks to the Jews about who God is. I think for every person, God may be different. But in the end we all share the same goal: to learn God’s love for us and to strive to live a better, holier, loving life. Without God, we wouldn’t exist, and neither would anything else. IF God created us for such great things, then why do we put our faith and trust into worldly objects that we wont even need for Heaven?

Jesus is telling everybody that He is the Son of God but the Jews don’t believe Him. Just like in our life it is hard to believe in Jesus all the time because of what happens in life or if He doesn’t answer our prayers. Without God we wouldn’t exist and neither would anything else in this world. God’s plans for us are so much bigger than what we think it is, we just need to trust in Him.

In today’s gospel Jesus says, “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never see death.” I think this means that whoever does not sin will go to heaven. This is true because we must be pure to go to heaven. That is why Purgatory is here, so we can get rid of our sins to go to heaven. Without Purgatory we would all go to hell, unless we were sinless. God gave us a wonderful gift of a second chance to get to Him, Purgatory.

” we allow so many distractions and selfishness to get in the way of this Divine Plan.” we do let so many tings get in the way of us and God, including our desires which could ruin our Chastity. Then we try to hide ourselves so God doesn’t see us. If you’re hiding something from others then should you be doing that? is it helpful or does it just get in the way of you and Jesus? “You are not yet fifty years old and you have seen Abraham?” The Jews are arguing with Jesus and they pull that phrase out. Your age shouldn’t have any effect on how connected you are to God. The people arguing with Jesus have to attack his age because they can’t argue with him about God. Jesus knows God infinitely times more than them. Jesus has all the answers, go to him when you are in need.

God had done so much to show us examples and what to look up after yet the outcome people treat it with is not so great. Jesus said that He is above everything else and is God, which seems blasphemous and seems fake. A division occurred when Jesus said that He was God. Some people believed and some didn’t. I love it in the Gospels when Jesus says, “I AM” Because in the times that Jesus lived in, the name of God was so sacred that you weren’t even allowed to say it and some people still hold that tradition to this day. Yahweh. That’s God’s personal name.
I find it insane how much our culture has dumbed down religion and God. It used to be blasphemy to even say his name, yet now we run around dropping it in curse words without a second thought. And while I’m guilty of doing it too, it makes me so incredibly sad that this is something that happens, that Jesus even let happen. But when I think about it, I’m reminded of a homily Fr. Jarrod gave. He said that God allows himself to be so humble, even to the point of ridicule and rejection, just because he loves us so much and doesn’t want us to be afraid of him. Think of how angry you would get if someone were to say terrible things about you and just completely trash your name and everything you’ve done, even if all you’ve ever done was good. And then think of how Jesus doesn’t even back away the tiniest bit of his love. In fact, he loves us more (if that’s even possible) despite all of those things. His love is the blasphemous thing, His love is reckless and crazy and unfathomable.

I think that the gospel is trying to tell us is that some people are like the Jews. They don’t believe in God and they won’t believe in God unless he floats down from the clouds, even then some won’t think he is a God. That is why they need us, they need us to teach them the truth about God. We need to make them believe in God the father and we need to do it without force. Just remember what Jesus would do. People might only do stuff when it makes them look better, but God did stuff when someone needed it. Healing the sick giving sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf. He does it all and he doesn’t brag or tell anyone how awesome he is for doing it. Which makes people not believe him. He doesn’t care, it isn’t his job to make them believe, its his job so save them even when they don’t think he is saving them. Because he is our God. Dads don’t talk about work with their kids. But they still do it. Were the kids and he is our father, he died for our sins. So why not spread the word? Because it might ruin out reputation? Jesus didn’t care about his reputation, only us and we cant even do a little thing like spreading our faith. We are like his disciples, following him until he needs us and we leave him and pretend we don’t know us. But he didn’t care, he saved us! So spread the word of God to others.

I feel like sometimes we are the ones throwing stones. Obviously as Christians we believe in Jesus Christ but sometimes we set him to the side. Sometimes God is just right in front of us and we still ignore him and his words just as the Jews did. And previously Jesus says, “Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.” This is Jesus literally telling us to keep his word to stay close to him. Jesus is right in front of us telling us what to do and we need to listen. Jesus also says, “If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing,” This is Jesus showing his humbleness and this is the type of humble we should strive to be so we can be open to Jesus and get closer to him.

In today’s Gospel, a fierce yet powerful message is given to us from Jesus. God tells us to have unwavering faith in him and the Trinity, and believe that Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah, the same Messiah spoken through the prophets. We must put Jesus at the center of our lives, the very foundation of our existence. In the passage in the Gospel of John, Jesus proclaims that he is God and has been God this entire time. Of course, the Jews didn’t believe him, as they thought that Jesus would be a political and rich king, not some son of a carpenter. But Jesus doesn’t back down. He says that he is before Abraham, the father of the Jews and knows the Father. We must take our time to reflect on the faith we have in Christ and his Passion and what he did for us.

    Jesus said to the Jews:
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever keeps my word will never see death.” This part really stuck out to me because it sounds like it is saying that we should believe in God and always follow his rules and commandments because he truly loves us with his whole heart. I love this part also because it is saying if you keep me present and keep praying and never stop believing in the one true God because if you keep following him, you will never see death and never be away from God the almighty power. That died from your sins because he wanted to save and keep us with him. It sticks out to me because when it says you never see death means you will never be alone because you will be up in heaven with God having a good time not only because you are with God, but also because you will have eternal life with Jesus Christ son of the living God. Never Stop and Never Give up on Jesus Christ himself. BELIEVE! Have a good rest of your day!! Jesus loves you and also God Bless You!!!!!!

Amen Amen I say to you
What I think the Lord is trying to tell me is that if we follow his word and his path.
and we wont have to face Satan or hell because we will be in heaven

I feel like he is trying to tell me to stop and put our devices down and just pray because he is trying to say that these devices are taking over the world.
we spend so much time on our electronics that we don’t have time to pray.
    These devices are mind-controlling.
We don’t even have any time to think about him because of these devices we need to spend less time on our phones tablets and other stuff and just pray.
We just need to spend more time with him and pray and love him.
Even though it is really tempting don’t fall for it that’s Satan trying to trick you into stop praying so just power your phone off so it does not make any noise and distracts you and just pray.
Pray like you’re in a trance no distractions no nothing just prayer and time with God.

I think God is telling us that if we love him and pray and spread the gospel, we will go to heaven.

The scripture is telling me that God has a plan already formed for us. He made us and gave us a job to spread the Word and love our neighbors and treat them with kindness. He set our journey in what He knows is good for us. We need to trust in His plan for us because He has already set our path and it’s up to us to choose whether or not to follow it.

“AMEN, AMEN, I SAY TO YOU, WHOEVER KEEPS MY WORD WILL NEVER SEE DEATH.” Jesus promises those who keep his word, and follow Him will have a new life in heaven. Like the verse that says whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, and whoever gives up his life to Christ will have new life in heaven. We can’t let the life we lead here on earth come before our new life we want to gain in heaven.

“Do we believe in what Jesus said”
This stuck out to me in Today’s scripture reflection because we have to believe in what Jesus says. Nowadays people are falling away from our Lord. Everything he says it is the truth, he speaks only the truth, and we have to believe every word he says to us and to other people so we can strive to grow closer to Jesus Christ.
