“SO THEY WENT OFF AND PREACHED REPENTANCE.”MK 6:7-13
Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two
and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick
–no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic.
He said to them,
“Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there.
Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you,
leave there and shake the dust off your feet
in testimony against them.”
So they went off and preached repentance.
The Twelve drove out many demons,
and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them. Mk 6:7-13
Jesus gave authority to the Apostles over unclean spirits and authority to cure the sick by anointing them with oil. Jesus’ authority did not stop with the 12 Apostles, but from Peter was passed on to Linus and down to Pope Francis. This authority was passed down to bishops and priests who are still preaching repentance, casting out demons, and curing the sick.
This proves to us that Jesus has the authority to pass on His powers to specific people He gives the power to. The pope, bishops, and ordained priests all have been given authority by Christ to forgive sins, consecrate the Eucharist, anoint the sick and give them last rites, to Baptize in the name of the Trinity, to confirm the Holy Spirit in us, to witness a couple making wedding vows.
God the Father set up the priesthood in the tribe of the Levites in the Old Testament, then Jesus instituted the first priesthood at the Last Supper, and continues to call priests to be ordained today and works through them to heal, cure, and cast out demons.
Don’t believe me? Fr. Ben Green gave absolution to my son, Nathan, and many other 2nd graders for first reconciliation. In the Year of Fr. Kapaun, we took time to reflect on his intercession from heaven to heal Chase Kear who should have died after a pole vaulting accident, Avery Gerlemen from a blood disease that was eating her alive from the inside, and Nick Dellesega who was without a pulse for 9 and half minutes.
We don’t hear these things on the nightly news very often. We must search them out because God’s grace, love, and authority are the most powerful things in the world. The sick are cured, demons are cast out, and reconciliation is taking place right now all over the world.
Take time to fill your mind with good and holy things each day, allow Jesus’ teachings to transform you and change your perspective to ‘what is’, reality, or Truth. This conversion takes place slowly or sometimes all at once. It requires faith and an open heart and mind, total surrender and trust (fiat). Jesus is sending you and I out today two by two, after being formed by Him, to change the world by being who He created us to be.
Today’s challenge: Read about Fr. Kapaun’s story at http://catholicdioceseofwichita.org/father-kapaun or find a book on Fr. Kapaun and read it. Put good and holy people and things around you. Humble yourself and recognize we need God, if you seek Him out you will not be disappointed. All of us are called to be saints, with a specific role for our journey. Ask Jesus what he made you for then take nothing with you but your walking stick and be amazed at what Christ will do through you!
Be a servant, be a saint today!

Today Jesus gives the 12 the power to drive out deamons but he tells them to not bring anything accept for a walking stick and sandals. He tells them that they will have everything provided for them in the houses where they stay and they drive out many demons.
In this phrase the first thing i think is confetion they said so they went off and preached repentence. confestion is all about repentence.
The aposiles are going out to the would and preaching repentence 🙂
leave there and shake the dust off your feet. this stuck out to me kinda because when we sin and even if we go to confession we still might have guilt from it. We cant let the devil keep us stuck on one thing when we could be getting closer to God
to listen to Gods words because they have the best intention for us. God has the most authority to forgive sins and rid of original sin when we are born. even under Gods name you are able to do great things with the power of healing.
Today Jesus gave the apostles the authority to cleanse people of demons. This helps me to remember how our faith has been passed down from the apostles then to our pope and priests now. We can know and have faith in God cause we have records of what he did. He shows us through priests and religious that we can trust him because everyone before us has. So we must trust in God and have faith.
“take nothing for the journey but a walking stick” This doesn’t mean that we must give everything up exactly, but that we must have one thing, the “walking stick”. The walking stick is God’s love for us and his grace, and through him we can spread that love and grace to those who need it.
Today we learned in scripture about Fr. Kapaun and my favorite part of scripture is “This conversion takes place slowly or sometimes all at once. It requires faith and an open heart and mind, total surrender and trust (fiat). Jesus is sending you and I out today two by two, after being formed by Him, to change the world by being who He created us to be.” It really shows we need to give up our lives and realize like Father Kapaun did we need more people like him and should be a model for young kids, he loves God and others before him the “golden rule” its a great example. Jesus died for us and Father Kapaun didn’t mind losing his life for others cause it was all a choice he made for God and for his soldiers.
The passing down of athority in the church gives the preists just as much power as the origanianl apostles. We should be treating and respecitin priest like we would if we saw the aposles, but we don’t. To most of us their everyday people. We need to respect them and believe they have the power to do what we’re told.
So many people forget or do not believe in the power of Jesus’s name. We are so used to going about our daily businesses without knowing of the power and miracles in our lives. We need to wake up everyday and remind ourselves that Jesus is God, That his word is existence, and that parasia is real!!! Someday, Jesus will come. It will be at a time no one will expect, half of the world will be asleep. When we go out into the world, and live our daily lives, we need to invoke the power of Jesus in everything that we do. With God’s name, anything is possible. From the smallest miracole of getting an A, or the biggest blessing of healing someone. We need to remind ourselves every time that we get the inclination to sin that Jesus is watching, and he is loving us throughout. Jesus is waiting on us. He wants us to come home, and we can only do that with his help. Jesus’s name is love, which is power.
In this gospel God gave the apostles the gift to cure the sick with oil and cast out unclean spirits. I think this is very powerful because they were close to God and because of that God gave them great gifts to do through him. I take away from this that through God anything is possible as long as we have Faith in God, Follow him, and pray to Him asking for what we need and it will come in some sort of way or form and you may not realize it but God knows the right timing and what we need so we have to trust him and not worry.
The authority that Jesus gave to Peter and the Apostles has been passed down many generations all the way down to Pope Francis. They all had faith and we will be able to do good things if we believe in Him. He wants to give us ability to do great things but we ignore it and that’s just how humans are. We will never be perfect so don’t think that doing one bad thing will ruin everything. If we find ourselves struggling with something, take it to Jesus. He will help you with your problems. We have to seek Him to find Him. If we lose something and want to find it, do we just sit there hoping it will come back to us? NO. We have to look for it and that is the same with finding God. If you want something, you must work for it. Once we find Jesus we can ask Him for help with whatever we need no matter how big or small. Nothing we do can make God not love us.
“He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick –no food, no sack, no money in their belts. They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic. He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there. Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.” So they went off and preached repentance. The Twelve drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them. Mk 6:7-13”
This stuck out to me because Jesus told them to do something hard and what may have been unbearable, but they did it anyway. They listened to their Lord and savior, trusting him nothing bad would happen, which led to many sicknesses being cured and many demons that got drove out of people. Because they listened and trusted Jesus.
“He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick–no food, no sack, no money in their belts.” This stuck out to me because we don’t need money or material things to be loved by Him. Jesus just wants us to come as we are and love him with our whole hearts. He loves us and wants us to love back. Don’t think you need material things and money to impress God. God loves the sinners and poor because they love Him back fully with their whole heart. Jesus loves you and we need to love Him back.
A part that stuck out to me was
“So they went off and preached repentance. The Twelve drove out many demons, ”
They were very obedient to Jesus. Jesus told them go preach repentance to people and don’t bring food or money and they listened to him.
The disciples are a great example of following Jesus’s plan for us. To go out and preach repentance isn’t easy it’s a commitment to go out every day and try to share the good news and try to get others to do it with you.
2/1/24 In this passage, Jesus is giving the apostles instructions to go into the world and tell the good news. He gives them the power to drive out demons, to heal physical illnesses, and to heal people souls by forgiving their sins. He told them to take no supplies, only the clothes and shoes on their body. They had no way to get money, food, or shelter, yet they went anyway. They preached repentance, drove out demons, forgave sins, and healed the sick. They did everything that Jesus told them to do, and they helped people fall in love with Jesus.
That Jesus gives Saint’s, Priest’s, Bishop’s, religious sister’s and all people who truly believe in the power that God can give.
God gives the power of healing to people who belive they will become healthy. When people truly believe that healing is from those who pray for them.
Jesus gave the 12 apostles the ability to cast out demons and heal the sick, they preached to every house they came across so that the teaching may be passed down. We must seek Jesus to find Him otherwise we are lost, and if you seek Him out you will not be disappointed.
“Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you,
leave there and shake the dust off your feet
in testimony against them.”
We need to let him stay with us in our hearts take him in. It is important that we do this so he can help us to be a better person to let more than just Jesus and the apostles, let in the needy but that’s doesn’t necessarily mean let them into your home but you will help them give them money food clothing its a small juster in your eyes but in Gods eyes that is a big thing.
God is calling us to follow him. We dont need any of the things we have or want to follow Him. All we need is faith to follow Him.
This proves to us that Jesus has the authority to pass on His powers to specific people.Jesus has more power over everyone and is in the most control.God gives the power of healing to people who believe they will become healthy. When people truly believe that healing is from those who pray for them. The part that stuck out to me was “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there.Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you.
Something that stuck out to me today was that Jesus said only to take a walking stick. In today’s world that is like the equivalent of take shoes and going to tell people that the Lord is here and is trying to save us.
Something that I got out of this was that if we let Jesus into our lives, then we can do anything, Philippians 4:13 “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This really shows that God is all powerful, and that nothing is better than him, and that nothing should get in the way of getting closer to Jesus.
The scripture said that we need to stay ready to listen to God’s word. We need to listen and be ready because God calls us closer to him and we need to follow. We might be called to be a religious brother or sister of Christ. This could help me in every day life because I struggle to listen and focus on what I need to focus on.
In this gospel , Jesus gave the apostles permission to drive out demons and to cure the sick. They drove out many demons and also healed many sick people. Since Jesus was able to give his power to people to do things for others, this means Jesus is also able to give us his power to heal others. If we fill our body with holy things each day, Jesus might give us power to heal the sick and conquer demons.
We need to realize that though the saints did almost impossible things we can still be just like them. You can just do the impossible right away, it takes time. First start doing the things that are possible. Then do the will of God and suddenly you are doing the impossible. Try your best to become a saint starting today.
Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick –no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
This stuck out to me because it shows how to deal and to heal unclean spirits and the sick.
Jesus is showing us the power of God and following Him. He shows us that 12 completely normal guys through believing and following him can perform great miracles and dispel demons.
This scripture reflection helps me remember that like God wants us to be forgiven from our sins he wants us to have a second chance even though we shouldn’t. God sent Jesus to help us grow and hear what we need to believe with that he passed down to many people like the apostles to pope to bishops to priests. When he did that he new part of that was giving them the blessings of how to forgive sins because he was so kind to helps us out and forgive our sins even though we didn’t deserve any of that.
In the Gospel today Jesus tells His disciples to go out and preach to those who let them stay for as long as they need. I think that we should do the same and go to help those who accept our help and if they don’t we leave them be. Jesus wants us to spread our faith and tell others about Him. If we do this and follow Him we will be His disciples.
Something that stuck out to me was when Jesus gave them authority over unclean spirits. We need to remember that Jesus can save us. Sometimes people think ONLY technology can save them. That is wrong, sure new medical technology is great for us, but Jesus can save us instantly. We need to trust God.
“The Twelve drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.” Jesus has all of the power in the universe and He shares it with Religious to help others get to Heaven. Jesus gave the Apostles power to forgive sins, Baptize, Consecrate the Eucharist etc. We cannot make it to Heaven without priests or religious brothers. Therefore, priests are there to help us get to Heaven, so use them as help!
In today’s scripture Jesus gave authority to his Apostles to unclean spirits and the authority to cure the sick by anointing them with oil. He also gave them the authority to drive out demons but He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick. No food, no sack, and no money in their belts. The apostles went out with nothing but a walking stick to help others, we need to learn from that and take into consideration how blessed we are.
What stuck out to me was that Jesus gave authority to the apostles over unclean spirits and authority to anoint the sick with oil. i think it is important that we also learn how to put our authority over evil spirits and learn how to overcome them. Jesus gives us his strength to overcome evil spirits and counter them by becoming better people.
I think what god is teaching us today is that we need to have more ground. When we falter our faith we lose repentance with god,and the more repentance we have with god that makes judgment day easy.
God will always love men and woman even if they sin.Jesus believes in us that we can do hard things with out worldy objects.”no food, no sack, no money in their belts.”The Apostles can heal sickness also can call down the holy spirit In Persona Christi Capitas.{in person of christ the head} come holy spirit fill the hearts of thy faithfull.
We need to let God stay with us in our hearts take him in, because it is important that we do this so he can help us to be a better person to let more than just Jesus and the apostles. let in the needy but that’s doesn’t necessarily mean let them into your home but you will help them give them money food clothing its a small juster in your eyes but in Gods eyes that is a big thing.
Jesus treats the apostles like his sons almost and gave them power to help others by doing the good deeds. They got the power to cast out demons and to anoint the sick. Jesus trust them so we need to trust him back
Today Jesus gave the apostles the authority to cleanse people of demons. This helps me to remember how our faith has been passed down from the apostles then to our pope and priests now. We can know and have faith in God cause we have records of what he did. He shows us through priests and religious that we can trust him because everyone before us has. So we must trust in God and have faith.
Become a priest so you can help the unclean.”This authority was passed down to bishops and priests who are still preaching repentance, casting out demons, and curing the sick.” We must seek Jesus to find Him otherwise we are lost, and if you seek Him out you will not be disappointed.
The saying “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there. leave there and shake the dust off your feet
in testimony against them.” That stuck out to me because we need to let him in our lives so we can live to the fullest extent. So we can go to heaven and spend the rest of eternity with God.
So they went off and preached repentance. This stuck out to me because it is telling me to go preach. We need to preach God’s word.
Today I realized that the apostles were taught by Jesus in the years that he was with them and then he sent them out to share the knowledge he had given them. Our faith isn’t meant to be kept a secret or hidden away. It’s meant to be expressed and shared by our people. Our faith wouldn’t be the way it is today without all of the people who went out without fear and preached the gospel because they loved Jesus so much that they had to overflow that love into other people.
what stuck out to me is the Jesus told them to only take a stick. no food, water, money, or anything else they want, because we only need God in our life to survive. and they trusted and knew that was God said was best for them just like how we should.
“He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick–no food, no sack, no money in their belts.” This stuck out to me because we don’t need to be rich or have money and riches to be loved by him. he wants us to be who we are and not be afraid to show our love for him. you don’t need all the nice materials to be loved by God, he will love you no matter what. God loves the sinners and the poor and you do not need to be afraid!!!
Jesus has instructed them to go out and bring nothing because they don’t need it. Jesus name is power, healing, and life. he gave his power and spread it to them so that they can preach words that can change reality so that others follow Christ. We need faith and nothing else because having faith is like you can receive all of God’s grace and love. He has called us by name, and we should follow him with nothing but faith.
“He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick” this stuck out to me because the apostles were so willing to leave everything behind and trust. God is willing us to do that and be just like the apostles. We need to have so much trust and we need to not be uncertain about what we know God is calling us to do. We may not have the power to clean spirits, but we can preach the word of God because once you trust him, anything is possible.
Jesus gave the power to drive out demons to his apostles. That’s what stuck out to me. They went out and preached and healed the sick with nothing. No food and no money. When we trust God we believe in him and his will. We should follow him and his ways.
“–no food, no sack, no money in their belts.” I like how Jesus commands the apostles to not bring much with them. He says it with such confidence, because He knows that even though they will have no money or food, they will still be fed, and their words will still be heard. He has such confidence in the Apostles, and it makes me want to please God so that He can have that confidence in me too.
God is calling us to follow him. We need to let him stay with us in our hearts and let him in. We must seek Jesus to find him otherwise we are going to be lost without him.
Jesus wants us to know that in order to follow him, you don’t need anything. In fact, it’s best if you don’t have anything. Keep your focus on him, and make sure that you always trust him. This stuck out to me because no matter what you have or don’t have, Jesus is always there for you. You can never go wrong with trusting God.
The apostles had the bare minimum, one set of clothes, no money, no walking staff, but somehow they survived. They didn’t have much, but they had all they really needed for their mission. We don’t need anything extra. God alone is enough. We don’t need fancy clothes or money. We don’t need food. God clothes us, God feeds us. He will provide all that we need. All that we have to do is trust him and follow his will.
Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them. Jesus is telling us that God has your back. Don’t let others stand in the way of God or have others bring you down. This is showing me that I am loved, cared about, and seen. Let the will of God take you forward. Don’t wait for God to come and fix your sadness. You have to go and find him. Don’t just sit back and be like God will save me cause He loves me. NO. You need to open yourself up to God.
“Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there” to me this is telling us that when you enter heaven you are in the house of God and you don’t just leave, you are going to be there in heaven with God the lord you will be with anyone you have lost you will be there with the saints and you will become a saint! You will have people praying for you you will be someone’s saint!
Jesus gave his power to the Apostles showing us how Jesus passed his power to our priests bishops and popes. and we may think that the Apostles are these power guys but our priests bishops and popes all have the same power as them
God told his disciples to “leave it there and shake the dust off your feet.” I think when he says this he means when he forgives us for our sins and all the bad things we do he truly forgives us. He truly forgets about it even if sometimes we hold on to it and make ourselves feel bad about it. God will always forgive us if we are truly sorry for the sins we have made.
Jesus gave the apostles the power to cast out all the demons and evil Spirits. And they preached the word of God and cleansed people of their sickness. If we try to seek out the will of Jesus then we will be holy forever, just like the 12 apostles did. “Take time to fill your mind with good and holy things each day, allow Jesus’ teachings to transform you and change your perspective to ‘what is’, reality, or Truth.” This is what Jesus calls us to do.
The part of this reading that stuck out to me was when Jesus told the twelve men to go out and not take anything, no food, no snacks, and no money in the belts. I thought to myself why would He do this, but when I thought about it again I remembered that Jesus does no wrong, there must be a reason, and I think the reason is that Jesus wanted them to go out and be with the will of God and to fully take it in.
it was the 12 apostles job to pass down that gift that Jesus gave them and so on and so forth, Jesus is constantly passing on that gift through priests and bishops who then pass it on to people who want/need it. And it is a big gift from god.
This is telling us that if we do as Jesus says, and go out and preach, we will help others and convert them to Christianity. The disciples trusted Jesus and because of that they knew that they would have a place to stay the night and would always be taken care of by God.
we should rely on and love God and believe that he will provide us with what we need.
“So they went off and preached repentance.” In Catholicism, we have the only religion where our savior comes down to meet us in a fully human and fully divine form. He could have made himself a ruler of the entire world, but he tried to tell us to seek repentance. We ignored him. We accused him of blasphemy. We. Killed. God.
What Jesus is saying in this passage is that you should go bless and help every one who welcomes you and should testimony against anyone who goes against you which in the modern day people being accepted for the religion and people not being accepted because of their religion and even if we do get rejected because of our believes we should still embody it.
“He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick –no food, no sack, no money in their belts. They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic.” This part stuck out to me because its showing us just how much trust the disciples had in God. We need to be more like them and just trust that God has a plan. He always has and always will. We just need to stick to the will of the Father and believe that He will be there and protect us.
Jesus gave ordinary people the power to cast out demons from anyone. ANYONE can have their demons cast out from them. All you have to do is look to ordained priests, religious, and JESUS. We can have our sins forgiven.
Jesus can do everything. Everything is possible with Jesus and nothing is possible without Him. We need to trust Him and everything that he says because He always has a plan.
God gave us priest, bishops, popes, religious sisters, and more to come down to earth and use his power through them to heal and help us. He gave them the power and authority to preach his word and the gospel to give us faith. To help cast the demons out of our mind.
“He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick.” this shows us that God is always with us and he will provide for us. Jesus sent the apostles with nothing because he knew that God would not let them die of hunger or thirst. God is always going to help you when you ask and are in need, but he doesn’t always help in the way you would expect.
Jesus wants us to depend on nothing except for God, he wants us to rely on God so much he tells us to go out with nothing but walking sticks and sandals and clothes so we aren’t naked. He wants us to realize that God will help us and he will be closer than ever before. He wants us to bring him to other people so they can do as we do. He wants us to drive out demons and cure in the name of Jesus. He wants us to come to him, because it is our choice whether we will choose him or not.
When Jesus tells the 12 that they can drive out demons he tells them only to bring a walking stick. I think he’s saying that they don’t need anything but God to fight the devil. We can fight the devil in the same way. whenever you feel temptation just Gods name will drive the devil away. We don’t need anything else.
God is Constantly reaching out and healing us from the world of today, Jesus is wanting us to go out into the world and do good for it also just like he has done.
We have to believe in Jesus we can’t give up on Him. He has cured and healed so many people. We have to have faith because without faith what are believing in and putting our faith into. Jesus is always there for you He wants you to come to Him everyday because He is always there to help you.
Jesus says to them take nothing with you but a pair of sandals and a walking stick. The only thing we need in life is him. Our generation seems to struggle with that a lot by choosing other things and constantly needing to do something. But all we need to do is to sit in silence with Jesus and pray.
This scripture passage leads me to think of how great our God is. I mean He can drive out demons, cool, but to work through other people to drive those demons out is just mind opening. Jesus trusted His apostles to cast out demons and heal the sick but they could not have done that without Jesus. Jesus sent them to those villages so He could work through them. Jesus works through us everyday just like He worked through the apostles so stay open to Jesus and His signs He brings us.
I feel like today’s scripture reflection explains the golden rule at a different angle. We want to help other people but we can only help other people if they welcome us. If they do not treat us with respect we have to somewhat draw a line based on their response. We have to treat as many people as we can with kindness, because kindness kills hatred and emptiness.
I feel like this gospel is leading us down a path a path where the apostles were or maybe somewhere around there, i think a lot of people lead down the wrong path like me sometimes and i know that it is wrong but i really like this passage cause i think it made me feel happy and to do something like that.
What I got from this and I may have been reading/interpreting it wrong but I think what its trying to say is to open up your heart (house) for Jesus and he will wash a away our sins (the demons)
What stuck out to me was that Jesus told them to bring no food or anything. today we would always have stuff. The reason they didnt was because Jesus know God would guide them.
Something that stuck out to me today was that Jesus said only to take a walking stick. In today’s world that is like the equivalent of take shoes and going to tell people that the Lord is here and is trying to save us.
Something that stuck out to me today was that Jesus said only to take a walking stick. In today’s world that is like the equivalent of take shoes and going to tell people that the Lord is here and is trying to save us
Jesus sending the apostles with nothing by their sandals and a walking stick to me represents that all we need in life is him. We ask for so much but all we need for eternal life is Jesus
I think God is trying to tell us that He is all-knowing and all-powerful. He is never wrong about anything He says. God will always be right and we should always follow Him.
“They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic.
He said to them,
“Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there.
Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you,
leave there and shake the dust off your feet
in testimony against them.”
So they went off and preached repentance.
The Twelve drove out many demons,
and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them”
Jesus could have sent the twelve out to do many other things, but he chose that. He sent them to send away demons from houses.
Sometimes the path that you want may not always be the path that God chooses for you. Always listen to God!
Usually there isn’t anything about Christianity on tv, we need to seek those things that are happening out in the world on our own, nobody on tv is gonna watch things about Christianity so they won’t put it up. It might be boring but that isnt an excuse.
Jesus sent out his apostles to spread the word of God. Jesus wants us to do the same. He wants us to pray.
Jesus shows that he is greater than all. Greater than the demons that he can pass power to sinners to cast them away. It dosn’t matter if you are a powerful person or a poor person, Jesus called the poor people. He called the people nobody wanted to be around. He made them more powerful than the ones who made fun of them before. The first shall be last and the last shall be first.
“So they went off and preached repentance.” We need to learn how to preach. We are Christians and we don’t see people going around and telling them the scriptures we just say we are Christian and be done with it. We don’t show our faith on our leave like we should unless we are forced to do so. We need to learn how to listen and how to speak up for our faith and preach what we sow. We need to be like Jesus and show them that we are Christian because God saved us and we are forever grateful for that.
when Jesus said that they shouldn’t bring money or material goods is because that God would provide everything that they needed for there mission and i think that is what a lot of people need to hear is that they don’t need to cling to there material things and to let God take the wheel to have faith in him because he will always be there whenever you need him
In this scripture reflection it reminded me that all you need is God, to believe, and everything will be provided from the Father. He cares for His children and will not let the evil one touch us so long as we chase after Him and love Him with our whole heart, soul, and mind.
“leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.” this stuck out to me because it tell me that there are always going to be people who deny the faith or don’t believe in God but don’t let them trouble you.
Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two
and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick
–no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
When people say “drop everything and follow Jesus,” this is what they mean. People will drop everything and follow Jesus. This is what the Apostles did, this is what we try to do. It may be a little hard to drop EVERYTHING and follow Christ but that’s what some people’s calling is, to be with Jesus 24/7. If we can be this close to Jesus we might as well have a guaranteed spot in heaven. Because it takes a LOT to just rely on Jesus for everything, it can be hard and it can be scary at first. But all things powerful come from God.
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick. this stuck out to me because you don’t need anything in this world all you need is god’s love which would be the walking stick to get you through this life without god’s we are nothing just like in the scripture we read with that other guy.
A part that stuck out to me was “so they went off and preached repentance.
The Twelve drove out many demons” because it’s Jesus telling the disciples not to bring anything with them and they listen to him and don’t bring anything. It’s a good example on how we should listen to God and listen to others around us when they tell us to do something.
In today’s Gospel Jesus is giving His disciples the authority to heal people and cast out demons. He also says something that sticks out to me. “He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick –no food, no sack, no money in their belts.” Jesus tells them not to take anything that might provide an easier route or more comfortable circumstances but God’s love is the one thing that matters in the end. With Lent coming up we should think about this and ask ourselves what material good is keeping me from God? Because the things on this earth that seem like we can’t live without aren’t going to matter once we get to heaven.
Jesus gave power to the apostles. through them, they passed this power all the way down to our current pope. he told his apostles to go out and prclaim the gospel. through his power they healed the sick, taught his salvation to the people, and treated the people they came to meet. in order to have this power that Jesus infested into them, they had to believe. believe that Jesus was the messiah. beleieve he was God. and in their belief, they healed in Jesus’ name. for we all have the power to heal in Jesus’ name.
the only thing jesus gave to the diciples was sandals, this just proves that jesus is all you will ever need because he is the way and the light of the world, he is someone we will always have in our hearts!
What struck me was that God gave them the power to drive out demons and that they did not ask themselves whether they could do it or not, they just went and did it.
leave there and shake the dust off your feet. this stuck out to me because he wants us to dollow him for our own good
No food, no sack, no money in their belts. To me this means that the apostles really did leave everything just to follow Jesus.
Jesus tells us today that we should not be of the world but of the kingdom to come
In today’s scripture it tells me that God is all powerful and that anything is possible in God’s name. Anything he does, he will not make a mistake and he will never fail to do so.
We should love and rely on god and beleive everything that he tells us.
confession is all about repentance. If we can be this close to Jesus, we have a guaranteed spot in heaven. We ask for so much but all we need for eternal life is Jesus.
Jesus gave the Apostles power to forgive sins, Baptize, Consecrate the Eucharist etc. We cannot make it to Heaven without priests or religious brothers. Therefore, priests are there to help us get to Heaven, so use them as help.He cares for His children and will not let the evil one touch us so long as we chase after Him and love Him with our whole heart, soul, and mind.
I think this scripture is trying to tell us that there are gonna be people who don’t believe and tell you that you need this and that when you don’t. All you need is God in your life and have faith and trust in him because he can make anything happen.
The is saying not to be discouraged for the lord is with as they go heal the sick free the people of there demons and if a place does not welcome them shake the dust off your feet as a way show you don’t care then go from there to another place that will accept you. The Lord is saying follow is will and command and you will be saved.
Today God gave his power to his disciples to drive out demons and to cure the sick. We can do the same if we are faithful to God and pray to him. We are unable to do his work without him. Saying his name is so powerful it can drive out demons.
So they went off and preached repentance. This sticks out to me because we all need God in our lives and if we do something wrong we need to repent to Him.We need Jesus to get to heaven and we cant do that without the sacrament of reconciliation.God gave us this sacrament for a reason and we need to use it to get to heaven.
“He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick” When people or your priest say “drop everything and follow Jesus this is what they mean. He also gave his disciples the authority over unclean and evil spirits so they could go out and help others. They saved many just as Jesus does when we purely give up our earthly possessions and follow him
“Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there.”
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that if someone doesn’t welcome us just get back up and shake it off because we can always find the right group of people for us.
something that stook out to me was he was seeking out repentance and the bishop was casting out demons.
I feel like God is telling us to leave behind anything that is turning us away from God himself. This is a very important message we all need to hear.
Jesus told his disciples to go out and cast out the unclean spirits. They follow and adore Christ just as we should. We have to leave everything and follow Jesus. It sounds simple but it’s quite the opposite. We can all do it though.
This scripture reflection has proved that Jesus can use his authority to pass on his power to anyone. Jesus has the most power out of anyone you know and with that he can help us get to heaven if we help ourselves to. God also has his powers to heal and help us with are problems that we have as long as we help with him.
Jesus is telling us to go out and spread his word. He is also teaching us to be kind to one another because, you never know what’s happening with them.
This scripture reflection has proved that Jesus can use his authority to pass on his power to anyone. Jesus has the most power out of anyone you know and with that he can help us get to heaven if we help ourselves to. God also has his powers to heal and help us with are problems that we have as long as we help with him with what we need him to help us with like we need to pray to him.
Jesus sent his apostles to spread the word of God to everyone. He wants us to go out and do the same. We need to follow what Jesus wants us to do or we will be lost and lonely. God helps us find ourselves.
I think Jesus is saying to get are hearts cleansed by going to confession and confessing the stuff for him and letting him know that he loves us and we love him.
In this Scripture, God gave his 12 Apostles the power to cast out demons like Jesus. God is powerful and anything is possible if you believe in him and ask. “SO THEY WENT OFF AND PREACHED REPENTANCE.” This part stuck me because the Twelve left their homes and went out to the world and preached about Jesus to other people who don’t know Jesus.
I think Jesus is saying to get are hearts cleansed by going to confession and confessing the stuff for him and letting him know that he loves us and we love him..
We need Jesus. Jesus gave the 12 the ability to heal others and cast away evil spirits. The 12 helped and saved many people there. With Jesus in our life we can do so much. Life is so much better with Jesus.
Jesus told them to just bring a walking stick. Jesus will guide us to heaven.
“go out and preach” i think this is telling us to go out and spread the gospel. god wants us to spread his word and be holy.
Many people have forgotten how to have Fear of the Lord. We need to have more respect for him,
” He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick
–no food, no sack, no money in their belts.” THis stuck out to me I think because Jesus is really telling them to leave everything behind and follow him. No earthly possessions should stand in the way of doing what God is asking of us.
When He said you need nothing but a walking stick, I think this means that we really don’t need a lot to spread the Gospel. All we really need is to just preach God’s words. You don’t need a whole lot of stuff to tell everybody about God and His word.
“So they went off and preached repentance. The Twelve drove out many demons, ” This stuck out to me because, once we spread the gospel of or Lord more people will follow him instead of people no beleiving him.
