“IN PRAYING, DO NOT BABBLE LIKE THE PAGANS,WHO THINK THAT THEY WILL BE HEARD BECAUSE OF THEIR MANY WORDS.” MT 6:7-15

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

St. Augustine said, “Run through all of the words of the holy prayers (in Scripture), and I do not think you find anything that is not contained and included in the Lord’s Prayer.”

Our Father (many of the saints stopped here thanking God for allowing them to call Him Father, Pope Francis says Abba means Dad-Do you allow Him to wrap His arms around you like a loving Father?) who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name:
Dear God, I bring myself into your presence humbly as a sinner who needs your mercy to worship, adore, glorify, praise, and thank you.  Thank you for allowing me to call you Daddy and thank you for calling me son/daughter.

thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven:
I submit my will to you, please give me the courage, strength, and grace to follow it. I completely surrender and trust in you.

Give us this day our daily bread:
Thank you for taking care of our every need, I trust in you. Please help me recognize the needs of others and help them. Thank you for the everlasting sustaining Bread that is your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.

and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us:
please send me your grace to forgive so I may forgive like You, help me not to judge incorrectly or label, have mercy on my soul.

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil (protect us from the Devil).

Today’s challenge: Make sure the Our Father is the first words on our lips each morning so we have the right perspective going into each day.  Enter God’s heart by humbling yourself before Him, empty yourself so that He can fill you up to be an instrument of love, thank Him for sustaining you each day and providing us with His life (grace) by faithfully receiving the sacraments, ask for the grace to forgive, for mercy, and protection from Satan.

Be a servant, be a saint today!

Today we are told that the rain and snow water crops and make them fertile so does the word of God. Its saying that God’s word will make us strong and like the plants that grow from the Earth so too will we grow in the faith but unlike the plants who grow from the water from the heaven, we grow from the words from the mouth of God.

“If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you” we NEED to forgive people more, even if you don’t have the courage to say it to their face, just don’t hold grudges against them because it’ll drag you down. If we learn to forgive others then others will forgive us.

In the gospel Jesus is teaching us how to pray. He says
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”
I think He is telling us that prayer has meaning. It isn’t just words we say because we have memorized them, but each time we pray those words have meaning and a purpose. And not just going through the motions but thinking about what we are saying and what we are asking God for.

“If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.” This stuck out to me because God is telling us that we need to forgive others for the things they did to us. He wants to and will forgive us also but we need to forgive others first so we can go to Him with a clean heart and mind. We need to love Him and believe that He will forgive us. We need to ask others for forgiveness if we feel like we have done something wrong to them.

We are being told how to pray and get Gods attention and there is a more likely hood that they will be answered. You just need to pray this short little prayer instead of the long and lengthy ones that you don’t know what your saying at that point and your just saying stuff to say it.

This gospel is very important, because it gives us a standard for prayer. Jesus reveals to us a perfect prayer to pray, and tells us that just because we say it, does not mean we pray it. Sitting in quiet and the peace of God while not saying anything is better than simply saying the words. To pray, you have to lift your mind and soul up to God. That is literally what the word means. Sometimes it’s hard to focus, to stay intent on praying. Simply get back on track, and start praying again. If it’s still hard to focus, simply sit. Don’t say anything, but sit. imagine all of your thoughts getting rolled into a ball, and then throw it up. Throw it way up into heaven to God, and he will take it all away. Then, invite the spirit. Then Pray…

In today’s scripture Jesus says “This is how you are to pray:

but deliver us from evil.” I feel like Jesus is teaching us how to pray so we have no excuses and truly pray to him. Jesus wants us to follow him and he wants us to pray. Jesus did all of this to teach us and die for us for our own good. He knew what was right for us and we should continue to follow him.

This gospel lists, “The Our Father.” It also lists what each and every petition means. At the start, it talks about God being a Father to us and how he loves us. After that, it states that we want to praise Him. Then we ask for strength and we thank him for everything. We also ask for grace to forgive those who hurt us. Finally, we ask God to protect us from the devil. If we pray the Our Father every day, we will soon get to heaven and become a Saint.

We need to really think deep into what prayers and prayer intentions mean. I believe that every prayer has a hidden meaning, we just need to meditate on what it means and how we can fulfill it. Everyday, we are making a promise to God to be our best selves and be selfless for the needs of others. God does have a way with your life, and will eventually call you home to Him. That, is why we need to pray and not just go through the motions.

Something that I got from this is that we need to forgive others, this is so important for us getting into heaven, and is just a good thing for us to practice. We need to strive to forgive like Jesus, even though we never will, we need to try, Jesus forgave the people that killed him, the people that whipped him, the people that nailed him to the cross, and if we can’t even forgive people for the simple things, than we will not be able to do it for important things.

Today Jesus is telling us not to use intimidating words when we pray. This means don’t use big words in prayer just to use big words, it does no good to say anything in prayer if we don’t mean it. Even if we use smaller words. This is why Jesus gave us specific instructions on how He wants us to pray, He even made it simple and not super complex for those in the church and for those wishing to join the church.

In the daily scripture it shows the meaning of each phrase in the Our Father like how St. Augustine says, ”I do not think you find anything that is not contained and included in the Lord’s Prayer.” I think what she means by that is in each phrase of the Our Father you can get something from it.

We don’t deserve him at all especially because we have sinned and sinned over and over again and yet he still forgives us. He also gives us the power of free will instead of everybody being the same. He knows what we need and when, but He waits until it is the right time in life.

When Jesus tells us “In praying, do not babble like the pagans” he is telling us that many words without substance or belief mean nothing to the Heavenly Father. We do not need many words to get to God, we just need the few full of truth and belief for Him to hear us and listen. If we have no belief the words won’t get past other human ears and to God.

In the Gospel, Jesus tells us to not “babble like Pagans” and then he tells us how we should pray instead. He teaches us the Our Father so that when we pray we will pray how we are supposed to. We shouldn’t pray to get attention so that people will think that we are better than them, instead we should pray and try not to draw attention and be truthful and loving. We should also mean what we say when we pray it and try to not make praying seem like it’s just something that we have to get through to get to the things we want to do. We should pray the Our Father like how Jesus tells us to.

“Do not be like them.” That’s what Jesus said before teaching his disciples how to pray. Jesus doesn’t want us to be like other people. Partly because what other people do won’t always be the right thing and partly because he created us each to be different and unique. He made us for love and to be loved. He created every single person in a different way, giving them gifts and talents unique to them so we can love God in our own special way.

” in praying do not babble like the pagans, as they think they will be heard.” most times we should understand we always think that we will be heard. We always have a burden, and we should speak to God about it because we will show us what to do. What do i mean by he will show us. It means that when we pray he doesn’t just simply give it and we don’t know what to do with it. He will be wise by understanding HOW to use it. It takes practice in order to use something. Us Christians are begging for something either its a food that we want, a game, or even something that we just desire. What we need most is Jesus he gives us more than that. He died for us, promised us eternal life, and has blessed us with a home/shelter, food, beds, and clothes to where for a priced school to learn about God in catholic schools. We need him more than our desires or if he is our desire.

When we pray, we are putting our trust in God. That is all he asks of us. He doesn’t tell us to build massive structures in his name. He wants us to worship in private, where our voice can truly be heard. He offers us everything we could ever ask for, in exchange for our trust.

i think that everyone is just so caught up in other stuff that people cant see that Jesus is near us and in our presence. I’m the same way, I forget that Jesus is near and I do something that I know is wrong and he’s watching me. Sometimes I feel bad and sometimes I don’t. I should go to confession and confess on what I did.

God is trying to tell us that we need to forgive, we need to forgive so that we may be forgiven (Forgive us our trespasses and we forgive trespasses against us) we need to understand that we are all people and people are notorious for making mistakes. even though we may not want to forgive someone (and maybe because it was so incredibly terrible) we need to try, and if they reject our forgiveness, God knows we still tried and he forgives us.

The prayer that Jesus gave us has a lot of meaning in the words, We need to really take the time to pray and not just go along with the words and actions but listen and hear what Jesus is trying to tell us. When you pray you need to truly be in prayer physically and mentally. Prayer means nothing if you’re not meaning it.

Jesus teaches us HOW to pray today. He tells us “not to babble like the pagans.” So He gives us a prayer to pray. It asks 7 different things in that prayer and we are not just saying them to say them. There aren’t any extra words or things you say, it’s just those 7 asks. He gives this to us so we can pray to him how He created prayer. Not to just say things in prayer to attract attention but to pray sincerely and He showed us how to today with the Our Father that we pray everyday.

The Our Father prayer is such a powerful prayer. You are literally saying “thy will be done.” Saying that God has a plan for everyone even if it doesn’t feel like it. In the prayer we say “Our Father,” calling God our creator and father. The Our Father is so powerful, like just these simple words have such a powerful meaning.

In today’s Gospel Jesus shows us how to pray. The thing about the Our Father prayer is that like many other memorized prayers, we don’t pay attention to what we actually say. We just go through the motions and say it and then are done. We need to learn to say these prayers with intent though, like Jesus taught us.

“Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” God knows everything and he has a plan for everything. God wants us to pray to him because he wants us to have a relationship with him. He hears and answers our prayers even if the outcome is different than you expected. We should continue to pray and trust in God’s plan.

We are just like rain and snow, because we have to do our part to change our world and help our faith grow. We have to help our faith and bring peace to the world around us. We can do this in prayer, service, and acts of kindness. Those aren’t the only ways we can help, but it’s still good to do those things.

In todays Gospel Jesus teaches us to pray the our father. Why this prayer though? out of all the prayers and meditations he taught us this one. Jesus taught us the our father to remind us that theres something bigger than us. bigger than the celebrities and actors that we try to be. He is our father. Jesus christ reminds his diciples that God is our father ALL OF US! isn’t that amazing? Out of the 7.888 billion people in the world God loves every single one with the love of a father. He died for everyone. don’t worry about being popular on earth. Our mission as humans is to get back to the father. Our Father.

Jesus is telling us to pray with intention, to pray with meaning. He is telling us to not pray out loud or to yell our prayer so that people are “impressed” with our prayer. He is telling us that we should pray to ourselves to God, and to Him (Jesus). Jesus is trying to get us to be and talk with him. We should respond to his call, because if we do we are saved. Pray the Our Father the way Jesus taught us, slowly and meaningfully.

In the Our Father it talks about asking God for forgiveness and then forgiving others. I feel like that’s a big part of the Our Father. If we can’t forgive others how do you expect Jesus to forgive us when Jesus is inside of everyone? Everyone we in counter is filled with God so if we don’t forgive our neighbor, that’s like us turning our backs towards God and not forgiving him.

We take advantage of everything, like being able to go to church every Sunday, being able to celebrate the Mass in general, and then praying, i don’t think we take advantage of it some of us just don’t realize what the benefits are, and sometimes that includes me. It can feel like nothing will happen if you just do something with your hands say some words and then do the same thing, don’t, instead pray like your life depends on it.

“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” We put ourselves into this evil. We have a choice to sin and we keep putting ourselves back into it. We know it is wrong yet we still do it. Then we go to confession and add the weight to Jesus’ cross and act like we are fine yet we are making Jesus work so many times harder. We don’t even care when we sin anymore we just let temptation get us and act like I will be fine I will just confess my sins yet we are putting Jesus the Son of God lower than us. We act like we are above God when we sin. We are like I just sinned and did not care and put Jesus through more pain. We need to start caring! We need to change what we are doing so we will be with God and help Him carry His cross instead of adding more weight.

“forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us”. When someone has done somthing mean or rude, like a little sibling making a mess in our room, do we forgive them or do we hold a grudge? God taught us to forgive like he forgives us. For we sin agaist God ALL THE TIME, but he forgives us. so we should forgive others who have done something wrong to us. and maybe not hold a grudge agaist that little sibling. 🙂

How hard is it to forgive? Very in some cases. As humans we tend to not be so forgiving but in this prayer we are praying that God forgives us but we have to forgive others. It’s like the St.Francis prayer “It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.” When we forgive we are forgiven. Because Jesus taught us not to be hypocrites; forgive and be forgiven.

God is trying to tell us that the Our Father is more than just a prayer that we say when we go to bed, or other things. Actually, prayer in general is more than what we think. The Our Father prayer is asking Jesus to forgive not only us who sinned against him, but “Forgive those who tresspass against us.” We don’t think about the deep meaning of these prayers when we say it, we just say it cause we “have” to. God is teaching us how to properly pray, so we should take the time to actually pray the prayer.
