“BUT NOW YOU ARE TRYING TO KILL ME, A MAN WHO HAS TOLD YOU THE TRUTH THAT I HEARD FROM GOD.” JN 8:31-42
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus reveals in plain language again that He is the Messiah. This is Good News. We are broken, we inherited a loss of holiness from Adam and Eve, we are sinners who need a Savior. God the Father sent Him to save us. We remind ourselves of this by looking in the mirror and recognizing our brokenness and sin during Lent to prepare for the day a Savior is born. Today, our culture is continually killing Jesus, the Truth.
The Devil wants us to have so much information that we cannot find the Truth. It is very difficult to find the Truth on the Internet, a vast highway of information. There is only one objective Truth revealed by God the Father through Jesus called Divine Revelation. St. Thomas Aquinas states, “Truth cannot contradict itself’.
It is impossible for there to be multiple truths or there is no truth. This is the heresy of relativism. You believe what you want and I will believe what I want then the world will be a nice peaceful place. False. We are created to be in union with the one true God who revealed himself today in his son Jesus. Stop. Slow down and listen. God is revealing himself to you personally today.
Everyone has their own opinion which is subjective and we are going nowhere with no purpose if everyone gets on social media and has an opinion. God is Truth. He created us to be rightly ordered with mission and purpose. If we are ever struggling in life, we can come to God and His Word to teach us the Truth and make the right decisions.
Are we like the Jews and want to kill Jesus, the Truth? Are we like today’s culture (and every culture since the beginning of time) who want to kill the Truth? Why? The truth divides. “He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.” MT 12:30
It requires courage in the face of fear. If there is no courage there is no growth.
I just attended a conference that told a lot of truth. “Nobody wants to be average,” was a catch phrase of the speaker. We discussed that for growth to happen we had to change. When we are not growing or feel like we are accomplishing anything we get stuck or scared. What relationship in your life is stuck because you or the other person won’t change (I emphasize you because we cannot change others)? What fear do you have to overcome causing you to be stuck?
Jesus is Truth and He will not change, He is the rock (In this time of stress, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, struggle with sin, cancer, being accepted, have an uncertain future, etc. cling to the One who is unchanging). He is love, Truth, and the first good. We all want these, but get stuck or we are scared causing us not to change. If we want to be holy and be with Jesus forever, we have to change. How? Our yes, our fiat (accepting God who is trying to act on us), cooperating with God’s grace and bringing ourselves to his grace in prayer, the sacraments, fasting, giving to the poor, and doing works of mercy.
Today’s challenge: Get out of the way and allow God to transform you. It is hard, it requires that you look in the mirror and hold yourself accountable, and you have to change. Be not afraid, Jesus gave all to be with you each step of the way! He is not dead but fully alive, He has risen!
Be a servant, be a saint today!
#Christian YOLO
We inherited a loss of holiness from Adam and Eve which is why we need a savior. God reveals that He is the savior and that we must recognize that we are sinners and we need Him. We reflect on ourselves during this Lenten season and try to cut away from the bad habits and create a stronger relationship with God.
“If our God, whom we serve, can save us from the white-hot furnace and from your hands.” This stuck out to me because it shows us that God will be there for us no matter what. He will get us out of anything. He put us in that situation for a reason but He will never let us get hurt if its not His plan for us.
Today Jesus tells if you sin then you are a slave to sin but if the son frees you you are truly free. What he’s telling you is if you sin he (the son of God) can free you from your sin and you will no longer be a slave to the sin.
“If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me.” This stuck out to me because sometimes we hear things from others about God or the Gospel and we just set it aside like it doesn’t matter. Then we act like we love God in Heaven. We have to care for Him in front of others too. We can’t just love Him when we are by ourselves and forget about Him when we are with our friends or classmates. We need to always love Him fully.
“know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” We spend all this time trying to find something that will fill our spirit, like money or fame, but we fail to realize the solution is right in front of us, God’s truth, follow him and you will be at peace.
“He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.”
I feel like this is talking about how we need to be with Jesus. We need to ask Him for forgiveness during our prayer. He is and will always be there to listen to us even if you don’t think He is. When we sin He is there when we just need a person to talk to He is still there He will never leave us.
Today’s scripture we learn that, Jesus reveals to us he is the Messiah and we are in preposition for Jesus and Mary. That’s why they are covered up at mass. We are near Easter now and Jesus is going to return to the disciples and a miracle happens right before their eyes.
Today Jesus reminds us of the truth. Jesus is the son of God and he has always tried to show that to us and we need to believe him. Jesus is God cause he loves and cares for all that is why he died on the cross for us. He also reminds us of our freedom he shows us that we need to choose the good because he wont force us. Free will is what is says the freedom to do what we want and there is one thing that we must do. Pray and Listen for God.
A part that stuck out to me was “”Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son always remains. So if the Son frees you, then you will truly be free.” I think Jesus is telling us that we all sin and we all will be sinners but as long as we ask for forgiveness from Him we will be set free from our sins because Jesus remains.
you have to be able to go out and seek the truth because as it said in the Scripture that satan wants to hide it from us. Nobody wants to be average so we should live to grow with God. To have a closer relationship with him than the day before.
Everyone has there own opinions about everything, especialy faith. It is a good thing to do to try to make sure others hear the truth about God and trying to help others acheve holiness.
Every time we do something wrong we become a slave to sin. When we go to confession this morning, Jesus, who is acting through the priest, frees us from our captivity to sin. When there is a lot of information, it makes it hard to find what is true and what is not. The heresy of relativism is shown really plainly on the internet. If we all just believe what we believe and let others believe what they believe, then it will all be fine. We are not made for everyone to disagree and be separated from one another. God calls us to be one holy catholic apostolic church. In one catholic we are called to be united universally by us all believing in God and the Truth. We find this Truth through silence, not from pounding ourself with useless information online.
Dealing with Jesus is frustrating. It was probably annoying having to listen to all of the wisdom that came out of his mouth. We would get mad, and we would be envious of his righteousness. The reason for this is because we are sinners. We are slaves, and what slave likes to hear a master preach about freedom? We have an innate desire to be free, and we are like the Israelites who thought that going back to Egypt would have been better than simply to keep wandering in the wilderness. Jesus is the Moses that keeps our eyes on the prize of the promised land. He helps us to see that there is more out there than just a better pair of shackles, or a richer lord. He shows us true freedom whenever we receive the Eucharist, and in doing so, he breaks the bonds that hold us. He shatters the lie that death is final, that life is worthless. Jesus gives us purpose, and when we fulfill that purpose, we are happy. This is what heaven is. When we have made it to the promised land, the new Jerusalem, we will have completed our goal, our journey through the wilderness. We will be forever complete with Jesus, and in happiness.
Jesus said, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I proceeded and came forth from God; I came not of my own accord, but he sent me.” We can grow in faith and discipleship by faithfully following the Lord and obeying his word. Faith is a free gift from God for us.
Jesus talked to the Jews who believed Him. However I think in that Gospel, He is talking about us. He said to us that anyone who commits a sin is a slave of sin. He also says: “A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son will.” When Jesus says we will be forgiven by the Son.
Something that I got out of this was that Jesus is all that we need. There is nothing else in this world that could satisfy us more than Jesus Christ, and I think that a lot of people do not know or realize that, which is a sad thing, but it is our job to go to them, spread the faith to the people that aren’t as fortunate as us, the beatitudes teach us to help the sick, clothe the naked, and we need to follow these, if we do than we will have eternal life, and if we don’t than we will have eternal damnation.
“If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me.” I think this part was that the people were doubting that he was God’s son, so he said this to them. It shows how Jesus is obedient to God, just like how we need to be.
What I learned from today ´ s scripture was the truth only comes from God.He knows what will happen in the future for all of us.We are broken from Adam and Eve but prayer and confession can help with that. Especially during Lent to go to confession before Easter.
In the scripture this stuck out to me “It is impossible for there to be multiple truths or there is no truth.” It stuck out to me because it is saying we are not perfect and we never will be. We sin without thinking about it. No one will only tell the truth we lie all the time.
A lot of people are turning from Jesus and going to the devil or other gods. We need to go to Jesus and god and only them because they are the right path. We see a lot of videos telling us to stop going to god and we need to not believe them.
What I got from the reflection was that we should just let go. We need God in our lives to just take control of everything. I also got that we should not wait for God to come to us. We need to go find God with initiative and want to become closer to Him in every way possible.
We need courage. Courage builds us up and helps us to stand up after failing. If we fail, we need to try again and again until we succeed. Just like Jesus. He fell due to the weight of the cross three times, yet He didn’t give up. He tried and tried and once he got to Calvary, He died for us. So we should take up our cross and keep trying with confidence. Even if nobody is watching you do something.
Today Jesus tells us to be set free by him and no longer be enslaved by sin. At first the people listening to Him say that they have never really been enslaved, and then Jesus reveals He means enslaved by sin. ““Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.” We may not believe that we are enslaved, and that we can resist temptation, but without Jesus’ help we don’t stand a chance.
In Today’s Gospel the words “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples,
and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” stuck out to me because it
Sounds like real life in life we know the truth but if you don’t say the truth then you
therefore sin and have to go to confession. And if we keep our word and don’t lie
we will go to heaven and i have only heard good things about that place.
Always have faith in the Lord, He is merciful. Love the Lord with all your heart He died on the cross for you and saved you from sins. Do not be enslaved in sin but instead be saved by God. The Lord loves you, just need to love Him back.
In today’s scripture reflection I feel Jesus was talking about confession. When he said “Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son always remains.” It reminded me of how we can be forgiven and that we will always remain sons and daughters of God and he wont forget us no matter what we have done. It shouldn’t be scary to go to confession because God is always willing to forgive a sin although it may take some time he is the most forgiving person. So much that he sent his son to die on a cross to forgive our sins. Jesus and God will always love us and always forgive.
Today Jesus is telling me to find the truth in Him. Social media is not truth, but I know the world including me is using social media for truth. The truth is social media has no truth to it. If we want to spend eternity with God we have to realize that He is the truth. Find a relationship with Him and He will help you through life.
“The Devil wants us to have so much information that we cannot find the Truth”. The devil will try to manipulate us into thinking that God is not our savior and that He doesn’t love us, but we know the truth even though sometimes we don’t want to admit it. God loves us more than anything and always will no matter how stupid we act.
Something that sticks out to me in the Gospel today is that the people say they have one father and it is God but Jesus is the father. Then they go to say we only recognize one man as our father and that is Abraham. We are children of Abraham and God. Then Jesus has a good comeback to that and says no your not because you would love me if you were a son of God and Abraham. Earlier Jesus says you will be a slave to sin once you commit sin but if you follow me and are truly sorry for your sins then you will be saved and no longer a slave to sin. This part about sin relates to our lives because YOU ARE a slave to sin if you commit sins. But all you have to do is be truly sorry and go to confession to have your sins washed away. The part about them being children of God and Abraham relates to us because we are all children of God even if we disobey him or don’t listen to him he still loves us.
I think that the gospel is trying to say that the devil isn’t the reason some of us go down the reason is us. Were always trying to make our opinions the truth when there not which makes the truth wrong. We always try to be popular and leave a mark on the world, but what we should be trying to do is make people think about God not popularity and stuff that people think is funny. All it takes is for one person to do the right thing and then more and more people will turn there lives around to do the right thing with you.
“Jesus reveals in plain language again that He is the Messiah.God the Father sent Him to save us.” This part of the scripture stuck out to me because it tells us the truth behind God and Jesus’ plan on saving the world. The scripture helps us to understand Jesus in his time, and act more like him.
When Jesus says “everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin” he is telling us that sins can be hard to get out of, especially when we make it a habit, but just as the slave won’t stay in the house hold forever and needs the Son to free them, so will we not be in sin forever and we need the Son of God to set us free.
I think what I learned in this scripture reflection is that we need to take the truth better we get so mad when things don’t go our way and then we get mad. Then the worst in us come out.
Jesus then said to those Jews who believed in him, “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples” This part stuck out to me because I think it might be trying to say – If you remain believing in Jesus when it is hard to, God will see that and he will remember that you believed in your faith and you were a good disciple.
The part of the Gospel when Jesus said, “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” really stuck out to me. I think when he said that he was trying to tell us that if we stay close to Jesus we will really be his disciples and followers. I also think when he said, “you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” he was saying that if we believe in what God was telling us in the Gospel we will be freed of sin. His apostles don’t understand so Jesus tells them, “everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.” We need to control our actions and try our best to not sin and disobey what God wants us to do. Jesus frees us from our sin by dying on the cross for us and he rises from the dead and opens heaven for us too. God loves us.
Jesus is our Messiah. He Himself said that in the bible, and Jesus never lies. The world wants us to turn away from Jesus. It tells us that if we follow and listen to Jesus, we won’t be free. That is a lie! Jesus only wants what is best for us. He loves us, and is telling us that the best path to freedom and eternal life, even if it isn’t easy, is through him. Follow Jesus!
We people are broken because we are descendants from Adam and eve.Because we are broken we cant find the truth of life and we cant find Gods love and grace. We people are struggling in life if we don’t except God we will be lost forever until the returning of Jesus Christ our lord and savior.
Today Jesus talks about Abraham and about the Jews. Jesus talks about how he is the son to set them free. We need to believe in Jesus and he will set us free.
“The truth will set you free.” That’s one of my favorite lines of the entire bible because for me that means that whatever Jesus tells me to do (for instance, my vocation) then I know that I will find better freedom to love God through what he has called me to do. Although sometimes it’s really hard to give him our “yes” especially when it’s not what we had planned for our lives. But that’s why we have to trust him even when our lives feel like they’re falling apart because really, they’re falling into place.
Jesus is trying to tell us there is only one truth God’s truth. While the Devil wants us to have so much information that we cannot find the Truth. There are different truths on the internet because everyone has their own opinion. So try to read the Bible and you will learn the real truth.
Today’s gospel is about how we need to listen to the truth. the devil will try to get us to kill the truth but we must resist and find the truth Witch is Jesus and the church.
Today’s gospel is about how Jesus is the messiah. Jesus said to the Jews he has come from God. “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Today’s gospel also tells us about truth. If we remain in Gods words, we will be disciples and we will know the truth.
I think that God is trying to tell me that God has his own way of doing things and I can’t control him, in this scripture it is telling me I need to trust the process in which God has set out for me today. And I need to be a Saint every day. WE NEED TO TRUST HIM.
In the gospel it is telling us that we must submit ourselves to God and that we must consecrate ourselves to the sacred heart of Jesus and that, that is the only way we can make it to heaven is by trusting in God and by believing that he is all powerful and great and that is is the only one that can give you eternal live.
I feel like this passage is saying that people would hurt others if they tell the truth. Most people would kill others if they tell the world or if they pronounce the gospel. Everybody has a belief and something that they worship, us Christians have a living and true God. Other people have different beliefs but we shouldn’t kill them for it or hurt them. These saints that are told because all of their stories are like that. They killed them because of there faith, it’s crazy to think about it. We should live like the saints we should never hide our faith against others. We need to have courage, brave-heart, and a loving mind, in order to overcome those fears against the temptaion of the devil. Pray to God, read about saints, always have a clean soul, and have a peaceful relationship with God. That will get you to heaven if you live like the saints, or start becoming one.
God will not change, he will stay the same forever. He will love us no matter what we do and we will go to heaven if we behave right on earth. It is us who must change our evil ways and learn to pray and make our habits virtues and not vices.
Jesus is the truth. We need to follow the truth, learn the truth and not sin. It is impossible for there to be multiple truths or there is no truth. The Devil is always trying to tempt us so we do not find out the truth. Do not listen to him or give in to sin. Trust God.
In today’s gospel Jesus is telling me that if we sin on purpose and its the same sin over and over we aren’t going down a good path. We are taught to go to confession and we do that for a reason. We need Jesus our savior to save us, to save our souls. When we ask for forgiveness in confession we need to truly mean it and once we do that it is our job to be better at the sin and really try not to do it.
“If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” I really love this part of the Gospel today, because it shows that when we believe in Jesus’ words, we will know the Truth, and the Truth will set us truly free. truly free from worrying what others think, truly free from judgement, and truly free from the worries of this world, because in the end, it’s not this world that matters, it’s the the world in Heaven that we all strive to get to.
“if we are ever struggling in life, we can come to God and His Word to teach us the Truth and make the right decisions.” No matter what’s going on in our life we can always turn to God. He will love us and care for us no matter what. if something good happens turn to God, if something doesn’t go your way turn to God. He made us and died for us because he Loves us. And that will never change.
“He is the rock” he is our father,he can try everything but you have to see him as your rock not just a person that died on the cross and rose from the dead, he is the light and salvation and he is going to love you even if you don’t love him he is going to die on the cross again and again in tell you truly love him that is what I got from this reflection
In todays gospel it says “He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.” its saying that anyone who is not working with Jesus is working against Him. It usually takes more effort to gather and build than it does to scatter and tear down. those who accuse him of being of Satan who are indeed locked in that negative consciousness.
The part that stuck out to me was “Be not afraid, Jesus gave all to be with you each step of the way!” That stuck out to me because it is telling me that I should never be afraid because Jesus is always with you no matter what it is. Jesus gave everything up for us, he is always with us through the good and the bad. Jesus loves us and will never leave us.
God wants to show us the Truth so badly but we have to slow down our lives to understand what he is trying to tell us, whether
it be nature or in our daily lives, God will never stop trying to show us the truth.
Today, our culture is continually killing Jesus, the Truth. I never really think how bad our culture is killing Jesus. I know our culture is bad but I didn’t think it was that bad. God is the truth. He is the one to follow. Not the people you see on social media. They don’t always tell the truth. They might say “I have no insecurities and I am perfect.” That is the biggest lie you have ever heard. Everyone (including me) doesn’t think they are perfect. Even if they say they are. God is the one who loves all. He is the one we should be trusting. We should be trusting him with our lives.
Today’s scripture talks about how much God loves us and cares for us and without him we would be lost “If we are ever struggling in life, we can come to God and His Word to teach us the Truth and make the right decisions”. without God it can be hard making bad decisions, and falling apart but you should know that you need to know to just need to slow down and God always love you. and that you should love God because that is happiness.
“If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here;I did not come on my own, but he sent me.” This stuck out to me because Jesus didn’t come down to Earth on his own but by his Father, God. If the son sends the slave home they are truly free. What Jesus means by this is that, if you listen to the son in front of you, you will be sent eternally free.
This is saying that we need to go to confession to be free of our sin, because no matter how much we sin, or disobey God, we are still his children.
Everyone is trying to convince you that this is truth and this is and it becomes our identity, its even worse now with social media. Its reasons like this that I try to stay off social media. We get the impression that our lives should be like this or that but the thing is, people only post the good parts of their lives. The people weren’t listening to God just like we don’t because were always paying attention to social media.
Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me.” This part stuck out to me because Jesus says : I did not come on my own, but he sent me.” This line is very powerful and it is implying that Jesus truly is the only son of God and He was sent to save us.
there are many people that spend up to half an hour doing their hair in the mirror. Making sure they didn’t miss a single strand of hair. If we were to put that kind of attention into Jesus, we would all be in heaven. We let our minds and desire blind us to what is truly important in our short earthly lives. We were saved 2000 years ago, but we still ignore it.
Jesus is trying to tell us that we should not sin because once we do it we are a slave to it. 1 time becomes 2, 2 becomes 4, 4 becomes 16 and so on. We must fight it so that it doesn’t become our addiction or the chains that weigh us down, and the best way to not get addicted is to never try or do it.
I feel like the more you pray, the more you can say you know Jesus. Of course, by knowing Him I mean talking to Him enough to where you feel like you know Him. It’s weird, saying you know someone that’s “not there” even though Jesus really is there. He is with us wherever we go, whether we remember or not. I also feel like I’ve grown more in my faith just because of doing these scripture reflections and being in this class.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.” We are all sinners. Jesus died to save us from our sins. He forgave us for everything that we had done. We should strive to forgive others because we are all sinners and make mistakes. God doesn’t expect us to be perfect because he knows that we will never be perfect.
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.”
Sin captures in into slavery and we need to become free from that sin through the Father, Jesus reaches out to us every single say to save us and free us , we just need to take his hand and walk with him. ” if the Son frees you, then you will truly be free.”
During this day and age being a Catholic can be hard. We have to fight temptations of the devil, battle others harsh opinions, and deal with the criticizes of others. But at the end it will all be worth it when we get eternal life with Christ.
What stuck out to me was “If God were your Father, you would love me.” This stuck out to me because it shows that they weren’t trusting in God because it says “if God were your Father.” They were waiting for the Messiah and He came yet they were blind, their eyes were covered by something because they obviously didn’t see Him. I wonder why people didn’t believe it was truly the Messiah. Today try and make your faith stronger, try to start a journey or deeper relationship with Christ, get to know Him.
We are all slaves of sin. Only the son of God can free you of your sin God. Face it, we can’t do this on our own, God is the only way that we can finally be free.
I think what the gospel is trying to say is that we should follow God and pay attention to know the truth, because it’s hard to actually find the truth in a world of lies. We should love God and the truth will be revealed to us.
We had the chance today to go to confession. Today if you went he forgave our sins but he didn’t free us. We still struggle with the bonds of sin everyday and most of us have already blurred our Halos. When we are saved as when we finally have the nails driven into our cross and we sit in the sun. When we die we go to purgatory and then hopefully to Heaven. When we finally give into the devil and leave this world the devil thinks he has you until Jesus frees you from all the chains that were bonding you to him. Jesus takes all of those off and brings you with Him to the Father. When we sin on Earth you just add another bond and the more bonds you have the harder it is to get them off unless you go to Confession regularly. Jesus wants us with Him in Heaven. So today try your very hardest not to sin because Jesus saved you and will save you whenever you fall.
In this scripture reflection I remembered that I have to know that I am a sinner and that I have a Savior and that is ok.
“God the Father sent Him to save us.”
“Today, our culture is continually killing Jesus, the Truth.”
God the Father sent Jesus to die for our sins, but now we are just killing the truth about him. Having social media and being on our phones all the time will only make the truth harder to believe
I think God is trying to say we will never be free of sin. We will always sin and the only way to not sin is to follow Jesus. We need to focus on what He is telling us in the Gospel.
We live in a world of sin and lies, and we can escape that by simply wanting God. If we give into all of the sin in the world, which we are bound to sometimes fall to, we need to fight back and get to God
We’re obviously at a disadvantage from a holiness standpoint because of Adam and Eve, but knowing that means that we can’t just say “Well they ruined it for me so I just don’t have to try”, cause that’s not true. We should all know exactly what to due in most scenarios so there really isn’t an excuse.
In the scripture it’s saying that we love God but it seems like we only love him when we are alone or when we need something. We block him out when we are with our friends or just people, but we need to love him even when we are with people.
Something that stuck out to me was the line “the truth will set you free.” this tells me that you should always tell the truth because it will always lead to something good later on in life.
What I learned from today’s scripture was that the truth only comes from God. He knows what will happen in the future for all of us. We are broken from Adam and Eve but prayer and confession can help with that. Especially during Lent to go to confession before Easter.
Jesus talks about the fake Gods. We probably don’t have statues that we worship today but we can have other stuff that might take over what is supposed to be our time with Jesus. Jesus calls us to be with him. He calls us to be his disciples. He gave us everything so in return we share the word of God and love our neighbor as ourselves.
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” the truth will set us free. free from what? free from sin. lying is a sin. so when we tell the truth we don’t sin and the truth sets us free from being a slave to sin. we achieve freedom when we don’t sin because we are not in sin’s grasp anymore. but in the loving hand of God’s love.
Jesus reveals in plain language again that He is the Messiah. The Devil wants us to have so much information that we cannot find the Truth. By the information we hear on the internet and false things to get us distracted from God.
What stuck out to me was “There is no need for us to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If our God, whom we serve, can save us from the white-hot furnace and from your hands, O king, may he save us! But even if he will not, know, O king, that we will not serve your god or worship the golden statue that you set up.” This stuck out to me because they trust God so much that they put their lives in his hands, they trusted him and were never afraid to die. I hope that one day i will be as strong and as trusting as them.
Even though the world has says so many things are true and we should separate from others that don’t believe in the same truths we shouldn’t because Jesus is the truth every other truth changes and contradicts itself while Jesus is the truth and he will never not be the truth and if we believe in him we will all be united together with him
Jesus talks about being free. Free from sin. We are all slaves to sin. With Jesus, who is the truth, we are saved. He says that he is the one from God, telling us plain and simple he is the Son of God. Through Jesus we are saved. When we are in the wisdom of the Lord there is a peace. peace knowing that God saved us and will do it again. Peace that we are saved through his wisdom. Rest in it today.
“If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me.” Jesus is LITERALLY stating that He was sent from God He is the son of God. Jesus tells us nothing but the Truth. He would never lie to us. That’s what’s different compared to what things the people around us tell us. Everyone wants to be right but only Jesus knows the Truth and He tells us that this world is not all there is and heaven is the true reward for being a good disciple during our short life on earth. We all want to be happy and with God we can be.
“We are sinners who need a Savior.” I LOVE this line since we sin so much and yet we think nothing of it. When we sin it I more like an oh well then go to confession but you are doing something WORSE. You are putting yourself before God and are being selfish. You are putting yourself on a pedestal and giving Jesus the SON of GOD all of your sins that you shouldn’t even do. We put our HEAVY crosses on Jesus’ shoulders and just walk away like we did nothing yet we are the ones making Jesus go DIE on the cross for us and no care when we do something He told us we will some day do sin. We need to start caring and put yourself last and everyone else first.

we are supposed to get to know and love god. how can we do that when we sin so constantly? this is important to remember. we sin because of Adam and eve, but we also sin because of our bad decisions.
Today Jesus is telling us that He was sent by God to save us. He also tells us that we are going to be slaves to sin if we don’t trust Him and that we don’t receive Him, Jesus answered them, “Amen, amen, I say to you,
everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.
A slave does not remain in a household forever,
but a son always remains.
So if the Son frees you, then you will truly be free.” So we must live in Jesus to be with Jesus forever.
“We are descendants of Abraham” To me this means that all people even people who live half way across the earth are family and we should treat everyone like they are our immediate family.
“Everyone has their own opinion which is subjective and we are going nowhere with no purpose if everyone gets on social media and has an opinion.” This part of the scripture really stuck out to me because it is really true that people don’t want to accept it. God is Truth. He is the way.
Jesus is talking about being free from sin. Jesus is truth and he saved us.
The savior is always here for us and he will be there for us for the remainder of our lives and in heaven. We always need to respect god becaue of how much he does for us.
The scripture is saying that we need to trust in God and put him first before all things. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego knew that their God would protect them and keep them safe if they put him first and only worshiped him.
Today Jesus is telling me to find the truth in Him. Social media is not truth, but I know the world including me is using social media for truth. The truth is social media has no truth to it. If we want to spend eternity with God we have to realize that He is the truth. No one will only tell the truth we lie all the time.
In the Gospel it says “If you truly remain in my word you will truly be my disciples”.To do that we have to listen to God and try to be followers of Him.It also says that once you sin you are a slave of sin but anyone can get out of it like confession.
“Truth cannot contradict itself’. God is tyring to tell me that if we tell the truth but no one believes us, he will always believe us and help us move on. The scriptue says that it is hard sometimes to make the right decision, especially on the internet. We need to be saints everyday and keep making the right decisions.
“We are sinners who need a Savior”
God sent his only Son (Our Lord) Jesus Christ to die for us and save every single one of our lives. Now that is something you should be proud of because he is the reason we are born and whenever he takes up his cross he isn’t just taking up some hunk of wood, he’s taking up our sins. Everyone sins, you may think you don’t, but really, you do. Everyone does it. It is a part of your life and everyone else’s. You may think why Jesus take up the things we have done. Well, he did it for you, not just you but the whole world. He is the Lord and Savior and he will be until eternity.
In today’s scripture reflection Jesus told me I need to find truth, truth in him. The things we look at online are not true but God is. We need to talk and listen to God because he is true.
“Everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.”
When Jesus says this I think He is trying to tell us that whenever we sin
that mark is embedded on our hearts till we go to confession. In Him
saying this I think we should be able to understand sin and try to
avoid it from bringing us farther away from God.
We are all slaves of sin Only the son of God can free you of your sin God.
We are all a slave to sin. As long as a human sins they are a slave to it. We must turn God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit to become free. If we came from the same Father as Jesus, we should love Jesus like a sibling, which many of us struggle with.
In today’s gospel the says how can you kill me if you are doing the works of abraham but abraham did not want to kill me but to love me. Jesus is trying to explain that god sent him and that they re not following abrahams works because they are trying to kill him. I enjoyed this gospel because of the detail and the srcipture in general.
“God is truth.” This is so true. I can’t think of anything that is more correct than this. God is truth and light. He is our guide and light to the dark path. We have to love and serve God as loyal loving servants that we are called to be. God looks out for us and forever will, but we can’t just take God’s love for granite rather we have to make use of it and love him back.
Today in the scriptures, Jesus reminded us about the truth. We are all sinners and think that we can just go to confession to get rid of it. But it makes it worse if you do that. Jesus told all of us that he is the Messiah and the Lord the Savior and we should always be truthful so we can go somewhere better than here on Earth.“BUT NOW YOU ARE TRYING TO KILL ME, A MAN WHO HAS TOLD YOU THE TRUTH THAT I HEARD FROM GOD.” This part struck me because we are trying to kill Jesus with sin, even though he save us from sin.
The gospel is telling us he wants us to feel like God is in are presence all the time and he wants us to submit areselfeves to him so we can be with him later in life.
Are we like the Jews and want to kill Jesus, the Truth? Are we like today’s culture (and every culture since the beginning of time) who want to kill the Truth?
But you are trying to kill me,
“because my word has no room among you.”
Are we trying to kill Jesus by lying all the time? Do we know that’s we are hurting Jesus by lying? We need to speak the truth and not lie.
God is telling me that there is no truth on social media. We feel hollow and some people turn the devil to fill it. He would never do that for you, he will lead you to think he is on your side then dump you into hell. God is the one truth only he has the power to save us, only he can fill that hole.
Jesus wants us to see the truth, not the false. He also want to shows us that we are loved
“We are sinners who need a Savior”
Jesus died on the cross for all of us. Jesus died for our sins. Only the son of God can free us from our sins.
God is the Truth and we need to put all of our temptations and replace them with things that are filled with truth and put God first and read the Bible and open our hearts more to hear him and follow his plan for each one of us.
What I think Jesus is trying to tell us is that we are a slave to sin and following His words will set us free, well He did say that to us and that is why I love this gospel because it is so straightforward at the very beginning He tells us exactly what to do without us having to figure it out.
The lord is not just talking to you today he is talking to you every day all the time like I said in my last comment.
I have a question how much information before you cannot find the truth?
I would think that you would not so much as get to much information as you would just get lost in your thoughts or you would be distracted all the time.
“We inherited a loss of holiness from Adam and Eve” God sent Jesus to save us. Everyday we are killing Jesus by our sins instead of realizing that God sent Jesus to save us from sins.
Mr. Goertz I am so proud of your students and especially your spiritual guidance regarding our Lord. I was so amazed at the students’ thoughts in the responses given. I have known many of these students since they were very young and to see their spiritual growth moved my heart. Please let them know I am praying for them and their future. It may not be an easy world out here but as many mentioned as long as we trust in the Lord and praise him respectfully, we will never be alone. Also, to remember as we age, we sometimes drift away from the Lord, but to always remember it is up to us to return to Him as God is always there to let us back in to his heart. Keep up the good work and love to all. Have a blessed day!+
Patsy,
It is so good to hear from you! We miss you very much! Thank you for the kind words and I will let the students know you are thinking of them and praying for them. God Bless, Greg
“The Devil wants us to have so much information that we cannot find the Truth”. This stuck out to me because the devil is evil and manipulates us into thinking the bad thing we do are right we have to follow the path that God provides for us instead of the devil

The scripture is trying to tell us that Jesus Christ is the truth. And he reveals himself every time to us at mass when the priest consecrates the bread and the wine. Every time at mass we get reminded that Jesus loves us and he is the truth.

In life people fail and they get back up again to try again or just quit. I think Iḿ the quitter, if something doesn´t work then i stop, because normally i know it´s too hard unless someone is pushing me to do so. I just want to be good at what I am, not what others expect me to be. Some people always try again even if they fail over and over, but that’s a loop in my opinion, being stuck on it over and over, not accomplishing anything but failing each time. What are you to God? Do you quit when you don´t attend mass or do you do mass over and over unless your brain is just a muscle of that memory?
I think what God talked about was having false Gods. We need to get all our distractions away from us so we can fuolly give our life to God. In the end he is all who matters and when we have things in our way like our phones it will lead us in the wrong way.
We need to truly and deeply believe in God and praise Him because He is our creater. We dont deserve Him at all. But yet He still loved us no matter what. He will never not love us. ¨‘He is our God.’
You do not know him, but I know him.¨
Jesus has revealed himself through many things so we can know him. He is our light, what we should strive for. God is revealing himself to us slowly. There are so many things out in the world telling us He is not real or not our savior but if we listen to what Jesus has to say He says it plainly, Jesus is the Truth.
The Gospel is telling me that God is the truth, we have to replace all of our temptations that we have and fill them in with God’s truth. To replace temptation with God’s truth we have to open our hearts, and we have to be ready to trust him.
for I came from God and am here;
I did not come on my own, but he sent me.
he tells us that he came from God that he is the son of God so they know and they trust him but instead they put him to death
God is the truth and we need the truth. We need to trust in God and what he does for us. God is someone you can trust and believe in.
