JUST SO, THE SON OF MAN DID NOT COME TO BE SERVED BUT TO SERVE AND TO GIVE HIS LIFE AS A RANSOM FOR MANY.” MT 20:17-28
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
If Jesus asked you, “What do you wish for?”, what would be your response? In this case it was for a high seat of honor by a mother for her sons. Jesus teaches us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. Why? “The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up, pointing everyone else’s faults out to hide your own, putting down those with less intelligence to boost your own. Jesus is the opposite of pride in the highest degree. He is “meek and humble of heart”. He is gentle and gives totally and completely of Himself.
The Nativity reminds us of how humble God is. God, who created the world out of nothing with just His Words, the most intelligent and powerful being, came to us in a cave with animal dung around Him completely vulnerable needing two humans to take care of Him. He needed them to clothe and feed Him being dependent on these two wonderful humans. There is no greater self-sacrifice then this. There is no way we can match this humility.
He continues this humility by giving Himself totally and completely hidden behind bread and wine to transform us with His grace and love until He returns. When is the last time you became completely vulnerable and gave up yourself totally and completely for another.
Subdue your pride, put on a meek and humble heart, and serve those God has put in your life. Put love into each action. Do not complain but count your blessings. Stop judging and start helping. Serve. This is the heart of Christ, “love one another as I have loved you”.
We are called to imitate Christ. If everyone did this (starting with myself), it would be the greatest revolution the planet has ever seen. Following Jesus is hard, but the rewards are eternal! Be a servant, become a saint!
Today’s challenge: Be a servant, become a saint! Enter each room and ask how you can help. Put others before self out of love. I bet you will be filled with joy even though you gave up what you wanted or you will at least have a new perspective.
Be a servant, be a saint today!
#Christian YOLO
“They will condemn him to death,” People will always be mad, but we just have to ignore it. If we retaliate then that shows people how Christians are, and how YOU are. be kind to everyone you meet and sometimes people will still hate you, push past it and keep being yourself.
And so, let us destroy him by his own tongue; let us carefully note his every word.” This made me think of the devil because the things he says, we can use against him and ignore him. its hard to ignore him sometimes but we all just need to think before we act.
Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up, pointing everyone else’s faults out to hide your own, putting down those with less intelligence to boost your own. We need to be more like Jesus and do the opposite and bring people up and not down.
to be kind instead of mean, to be nice instead of rude.
Today my favorite part of scripture is, “Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up, pointing everyone else’s faults out to hide your own, putting down those with less intelligence to boost your own.” We always blame each other for our mistakes. The first part of the question where it asks what would you wish for, I would wish for a 2 minute conversation with him.
“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.” This part stuck out to me because he was telling the disciples what was going to happen to Him but they didn’t realize it. Sometimes we can be the same way. The answers to our problems are sometimes right in front of our face and we just don’t see it because we are looking too hard. We need to trust in God and listen to Him and he will help us see the right answer.
this scripture talks about oue ego. Ego can affect relationships, if you think youre better then your friend and judge other people to make yourself laugh or try to make others laugh then your ego is high. The nativity is a great example though because it shows how humble God is. God created us and hes all mighty so why would he have an ego? No. He dosent have an ego because he loves. We are called to imitate Christ.
A part that stuck out to me was
“Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave. Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
I think Jesus is telling us that we are made to serve. He wants us to treat others how we want to be treated and live our lives like Him and care for others.
Today scripture tells us why we should not seek power. “Whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant;
whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave,” says Jesus. When we seek only greatness we lose something that is important which is humility. We need to strive to serve others not to be served. When we show others love not hate, humility not pride, we show that we can be good. Treat others as you want to be treated and help serve others.
The mother wanted to put her sons on the right and left hand of Jesus because she wanted them to succeed in life. But that was not up to Jesus to say yes because he listens to his Father and his father already has plans because he has plans all of are lives out from our birth to our death and after so your mom my want you to succeed but God knows that you will.
We often see the apostles arguing about stupid stuff, and most often they are arguing about which one of them is the best. Power is a weird thing. It seems that the higher “status” you have, people stop listening to you. Instead, the one that leads by example, or a commoner, they will listen to and follow. This is important to remember, as Jesus tells us many times. It also must be very draining to live with the apostles before they were filled with the spirit. Jesus is God, so he is love. He is also patient! Patience is an important virtue, because it allows us to have relationships with others. If we got irked off by anything that annoyed us, we would have a terrible life. Patience lets us see things optimistically. It stops us from shooting off and Getting mad and destroying our relationships.
2/28/24 Jesus doesn’t love us because we are his slaves, he loves us like you would love a drawing you made, even if it got too messed up to even tell what it was, you would still love it and be proud of it. That is what Jesus does. He created us, and He will love and be proud of us even when we sin. Sin stains us, and God is like Shout, that he will erase the stain.
The main topic is humility god has done so much for us that we can not even comprehand it he payed a ransom for us to get us from the devil he let himself be taken care of by 2 “humans” and he healed.
Today the mother of the sons of Zebedee asks Jesus to give her children the seat at the left and right hand of Jesus. But Jesus tells them that those seat arent his to give. But it also says Jesus came to serve not be served and he served as ransom for many he came down to Earth not to be served by us but so he could serve us by leading us to heaven and forgiving our sins.
Jesus came down to earth not to be served but to serve. He is meek and humble just as we should be. He is our example and we should follow that example, not putting people down or make them feel bad. But instead we should treat them how Jesus taught us to treat each other.
Take up your cross and follow him, be humble and be a servant of God instead of wanting to be the most high because in the end it isn’t gonna be if we are popular, cool, rich, or above everyone else. It’s all gonna be based on our relationship with God and others and what are those other things helping with that make time for God and for the people you love and put them all before you because those are gonna be the things that matter most.
I find that asking Jesus for, in this case, your sons to sit at His left and right is very, very Interesting. Not even I have the guts to ask Jesus to do that. If you ask for that, YOU are very holy.
I think Jesus is telling us that he came and died for US and he doesnt want our sacrifice.
A part that stuck out to me in the scripture was “Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up, pointing everyone else’s faults out to hide your own, putting down those with less intelligence to boost your own.” That stuck out to me because I need to remember that I need to care for others and not just myself. Caring for others is a sacrifice and we are all called to do it.
This gospel tells us that Jesus doesn’t need to be served, but to serve and to give up His life for us. If someone thinks they are greater than you, they will become your slave. And if someone wishes to be among you, they shall become your slave. When Jesus was a human, he didn’t want to be served, but instead he wanted to serve others who believed that He was actually God. But once He died on the cross for us, he wants us to serve Him for He is God. Just as he served us, we must serve Him.
”He is gentle and gives totally and completely of Himself” That stuck out to me because it shows why we should follow our Jesus in our lives. We follow him because he is humble and is not pride filled. In our human nature is pride and that is why we follow Jesus to fight pride and rather be humble.
“The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many” I think this line means that Jesus came not to just save one person, but the whole population. He loves each and every one of us. He came and did so many things to the people in the towns, but they did very little for him. We need to remember to love everybody, just like he did.
There were multiple things that I though were interesting from this but one that I got from this is, we can’t just ask to get into heaven and we will. We have to work to get to heaven because if we didn’t have to than there was no point in Jesus dying for us. In this short life that we have we have to realize that the only way we can get to heaven is through Jesus, and their is no other God or thing that is better than him, a lot of people think that you can just get baptized and you will go to heaven but Jesus shows us in this gospel that, that is not the case, we should get tortured for being christian and go through hardships, I saw someone say this and it was very interesting and they said,” If Jesus, who had no sin, and was innocent was sentenced to the most excruciating, and gruesome death, than why should us, sinners, and followers of him expected any better.”
I think what god is telling us today is that we need to have humility like God and Love unconditionally and we do not need a reason for it you just do it without thinking just loving.
What stuck out to me was “the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve.” Jesus came to help us in all the ways he could. He even died on the cross for us. We need to follow his example and not think everything is about us we need to help others. This is what a steward is and we need to go and profess our faith whenever we can. Jesus didn’t just come here for fun he came here to serve and give us a second chance.
Jesus is telling us that we can’t just pray and get whatever we want. It needs to be accepted by our Heavenly Father. If he doesn’t accept it we can not and will not have it, for God is all powerful, all loving, and all forgiving. He will not just give us whatever we want though.
Stop judging and start helping. Serve. This is the heart of Christ, “love one another as I have loved you”. Jesus wants us to do the things he did, he wants us to help serve others. Jesus came down here to show us who he is and what we should do for the kindness of our hearts. People now are wondering if he is real and that if he is he should come down to earth, He did but he didn’t last long until we killed him and now we just have to preach instead of him being down with us right now. He knows that we can be kinder than we are right now, he wants the best for us so that’s why he is trying to get us to follow in his footsteps. He is here while others disappear and when life is hard he sits right beside us helping us through every little step in life. That’s how much he loves us, he is willing to stand and sit by a person for hours, days, months, years, forever just to make sure we are safe and that someone will love us. He knows the struggles.
It was brave of the two brothers to ask to be at the left and right of Jesus in Heaven. They should still be humble towards the Lord because he created everything. The Lord was glad they asked but said that is not mine to give away. The Lord is gracious towards everyone.
“Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” In today’s Gospel Jesus is telling us to stop being prideful. The King of the universe could’ve come to earth in any way, but He chose to be born in a cave with animals surrounding Him. That shows us how humble and meek Jesus is. We need to put ourselves last even when it is hard, but the reward will be great!
“The Nativity reminds us of how humble God is. God, who created the world out of nothing with just His Words, the most intelligent and powerful being, came to us in a cave with animal dung around Him completely vulnerable needing two humans to take care of Him.” This part of the scripture stuck out to me because it tells us that God is chasing us and wants to be in a relationship with us. So much so, he sent his only son our lord to go to earth as a vulnerable child, to teach us of the one God. It also shows us how humble God is, again, to send his only son as a vulnerable child to show us the right way to live.
Today in scripture we hear about John and James’ mother’s request. She asks that her sons go to heaven, and be seated at the right and the left of Jesus. “When the ten heard this, they became indignant at the two brothers. But Jesus summoned them and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and the great ones make their authority over them felt.” Jesus then tells the disciples not to be prideful like so many others with authority do. Pride is being arugent and putting yourself above others. Jesus tells us to be just the oppisite, just as He is meek and humble of heart.
There were multiple things that I thought were interesting from this but one that I got from this is, we can’t just ask to get into heaven and we will. We have to work to get to heaven because if we didn’t have to then there was no point in Jesus dying for us. In this short life that we have we have to realize that the only way we can get to heaven is through Jesus, and there’s no other God or thing that is better than him, a lot of people think that you can just get baptized and you will go to heaven but Jesus shows us in this gospel that, that is not the case, we should get tortured for being christian and go through hardships, I saw someone say this and it was very interesting and they said,” If Jesus, who had no sin, and was innocent was sentenced to the most excruciating, and gruesome death, than why should us, sinners, and followers of him expected any better.”
Today Jesus is approached by the mother of the sons of Zebedee with the sons of Zebedee. She asks Jesus if he can bring them into heaven and sit at the right hand of him. I think he is trying to say to us that it isn’t Jesus that decides whether we sit next to HIM. But rather we sit next to the Father and he decides that. Then he tells them that they shall receive anyone that comes to them as a disciple or a slave. Which is kind of weird because like why is Jesus saying make people your slave. But he is not talking about what we think, he is talking about ONLY if people come to you. You shall make them your slave not go out and try to enslave the community or anything. I just think that it’s weird that Jesus says to enslave people. I also think that Jesus was maybe trying to dodge them as like servants or disciples because he says in the last bit of the Gospel that he came to GIVE his life away and not to have people come under him and serve him like he is their master even though he is, he is THE SON OF GOD.
In today’s Gospel Jesus was telling the sons of zebedee what was going to happen to them. He said “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem”. what i learned from this is that we don’t always get what we want in life because Jesus decides what is going to happen and when we will die from our earthly life.
“Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom* for many.” Jesus came down from heaven not to be a super rich king and have a castle, he came down from heaven to save us and help us.
i think the gospel is trying to tell us that the one that leads by example or a commoner they will listen to and follow. This is important to remember as Jesus tells us many times.
In the Gospel the part that stood out to me was when Jesus said, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will
be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.” He told them what would happen to him. When he did rise, Thomas didn’t believe him and said he would have to see and touch the wounds of Jesus. Jesus let him see and touch his wounds and then Thomas believed. We should believe what Jesus tells us and have faith in him.
The saying The Nativity reminds us of how humble God is. God, who created the world out of nothing with just His Words, the most intelligent and powerful being, came to us in a cave with animal dung around Him completely vulnerable needing two humans to take care of Him, this is so powerful that it means that you need God and you have him so you can be more like God and so you can love him more and more.
The main topic is humility god has done so much for us that we can not even comprehand it he payed a ransom for us to get us from the devil he let himself be taken care of by 2 “humans” and he healed.
What i like about this gospel is that jesus tells what happens during his passion. He tells us about how he will die and the third he will rise.
What stuck out to me was the God is better than our pride. Our ego can affect our relationships When we have too much pride.
You are walking the path of holiness. Don’t be afraid to ask Jesus for forgiveness and strength to do the right things. You should do what is right and not what is wrong. God is very forgiving. Don’t be afraid.
What i like about this gospel is that Jesus tells what happens during his passion. He tells us about how he will die and the third he will rise.:)
“The Nativity reminds us of how humble God is. God, who created the world out of nothing with just His Words, the most intelligent and powerful being” This really stuck out to me because God didn’t make the world to get credit for it or show that we need to love him. God doesn’t want us to have to love him he wants us to want to love him. We need to start recognizing why Jesus died for us and why he made this beautiful earth for us, its because he loves us. And we need to love him back.
Jesus came down to earth to serve. He is humble just like we should be. He is our example and we need to follow him, and we should not put people down or make them feel less than they are.
The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. You must become completely vulnerable and give up yourself totally and completely to God.We are called to imitate Christ. If everyone did it, it would be the greatest thing this world has ever seen.
I would want to live with him in heaven, I would want to meet him, because he loved me enough to get born in a stable and die on the cross and rise again.
God has to judge us in the end and that means that we cannot assume we are just going to heaven. We must work at it and in the end it is in God’s hands. He will decide whether we will go to heaven or hell. In the gospel today, we hear the mother of the sons of Zebedee ask Jesus to set her sons at the left and right hands of him, but Jesus says that the choice of that is not up to him. It is up to Jesus’s heavenly father who will judge us all on judgement day.
“Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up” this is a really good definition of pride and it is true every one has been prideful in there life. As humans we are not prefect but we can strive to be better by being meek and taking up our cross
No matter what you do, someone will always dislike you. That is just how the world is today. We need to stop that and just love. We don’t need to hate others because they are different or better at things than we are. Accept that they are better and congratulate them on it.
I think God is trying to tell me in today’s gospel that he can’t force us to follow him. He knows that, that’s what is right for us and we will be happier. Though he can’t make us do anything and that’s why he admires the ones who have enough faith to follow him and always be at his side.
“Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave. Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” this part stuck out to me, because it puts down the high and lifts up the lowly and meek. Jesus knows that our human hearts want to be first, important, and loved, but He urges us to do that in a way where we lift up others without asking for praise for ourselves. Jesus paid our ransom of sin and transgressions with His life. What better payment is there?
If Jesus asked me what i would wish for would be the things i want and need. But that’s the thing everybody should understand. Does want and needs over power God. We should know that the passion when everybody chose Barabbas over Jesus was something i will never forget. The father let him get free and broke his chains and he was free. That’s us right there we are Barabbas because we sin and as we stand there with Pilate and Jesus they want us even though Jesus did nothing but we did. We are the ones who should be ashamed, but we should know that the power of Jesus Christ is that he heals, loves, and mostly forgives us from our sins. As we stand there wanting the punishment, Jesus takes it to the cross. Now what would happen if they chose Barabbas for death row and the people wanted Jesus. That would be the part where we wouldn’t have Christ. It was the will of the father who chose him to be free and Jesus to be on the cross as our Lord and Savior. Now tell me does wants and needs over power God. No and it never will be because God created those things and we have a lord and savior waiting for us in Heaven that he promised for us. That is eternal life.
“Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave. Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” At first I thought this verse meant that we have to learn to be humble and to not put our own lives before others but the more I read the more I realized that it basically is saying that in order for us to achieve true greatness we have to be God’s servant. It is through him that we can strive for and achieve great things. By doing his work we can enter the gates of heaven and when we go to heaven that means you have achieved the greatest thing you ever could have ever achieved. You become a saint. And that’s what we are meant to strive for here on Earth and the only way we can truly attain that goal is by becoming a servant of the Most High King.
“Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up, pointing everyone else’s faults out to hide your own, putting down those with less intelligence to boost your own.” I have never really taken a second to think of pride that way. I always thought of it as being strong and having all the power like a king. I thought the word pride was good. It is everything but that. Like the Gospel said “Jesus is the opposite of pride in the highest degree. He is “meek and humble of heart. He is gentle and gives totally and completely of Himself.” Jesus is who we want to be like. He doesn’t want us to follow into the face of pride. He wants us to follow in the face of Himself. Pride is the devil taking control of you.
In todays scripture it says Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up, pointing everyone else’s faults out to hide your own, putting down those with less intelligence to boost your own.” Jesus is trying to say that we always blame others for our mistakes. We need to be more like Jesus and help people, not bring them down
” Humbly submit your will to God( Thy will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph”. This stands out to me because I think that God is trying to tell us we need to stop trying to”impress” everyone, we need to be ourselves. God doesn’t want us to be the most popular person ever, He wants us to be ourselves, and to worship Him because He sent down His only Son from heaven to save us.
Stop judging the more we judge the less we love the less we love the more lonely we get there is more than just you in the world! there are more people that need love that want love that have love and they are fine with just that love and love alone is all you need!
“love one another as I have loved you” we should love each and every person like we love ourselves. If we love God as much as we love ourselves then it wouldn’t hurt to love others
I think God is trying to call us to be humble and to make our ego as small as possible. Just because we are better at something than another person does not mean we are the better person. We are all equal.
In this scripture reflection I was reminded that there are pleasures in this world, but if I want to be with God I must deny myself of these pleasures, take up my cross and follow Jesus.
Don’t think that you’re better than God, cause none of us are nobody ever will be, I guess everyone never pretends like they’re better than God but not caring where you go in the end should never be the case. Take up your cross follow him as a humble servant.
pride and our ego is a big thing about what Jesus is saying. Johns mother said she wants a seat fir her sons in heaven. We have to deny ourselves the power and what we want from this world or the next and use the blessings God has given us to see through the veil and become more like Jesus.
Pride hurts the soul and we do it everyday by just putting people down just to feel better but what we should be doing is lifting them up like Jesus would want us to and through lifting each other up we’ll all be lifted up and become who we were meant to be or better what God made us to be.
Pride is putting everyone else down. I feel like everyone puts each other down to the point where everyone is worried about how they look or what people will talk about or not. Everyone is worried about how they look to where most people don’t even realize your outfit. We live in a world of pride everyone must have stuff, have the newest phone or trend but everyone is focused on wants not needs. Everyone cares more about their looks than how they feel. We need to be able to show that we are human and we are not jealous of what others have but be proud of our faith.
they will condemm him to death. Jesus would be put to death for us. why would someone give up there life to save us? because they love us.Jesus gave up his life for us, the least we could do is love him back.
I think in the scripture today Jesus is saying that we are called to serve. And that we need to treat other people how we want others to treat us because we think we can treat others bad and then expect them to be nice to us. And that people will be mad at us for no reason sometimes but we have to learn that sometimes they just don’t need to be talked to that they need to be left alone, so if we treat others right then it will help.
“Whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant”
This stuck out to me because it reminds us to be humble in our craft. Jesus did not go around bragging about being the savior and the Messiah and stuff, but he still was. He was silent about it because he didn’t really care about if he looked cool or not he only cared about saving us from Sin, even if that meant him dying in the process.
Jesus is telling us that we cannot force Him to make a spot for us in heaven but God the Father has already made us a spot. He has us put in a specific spot for a specific reason, because He knows all and everything that has and will happen to us and the world. So we just have to do the Fathers will and we will have eternal life. Easier said than done I know but still, as long as we stick to the Father. Pray to Him, and thank Him for everything then we will have a reward that’s worth it.
the thing that stuck out to me was “the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve
and to give his life as a ransom for many.” this stuck out to me because it shows just how much Jesus loves us. It shows that we need to care for others just like Jesus did.
What stuck out to me was that “The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” This stuck out to me because he knew how powerful he was but instead of ruling over everyone and treating us badly he was humble and literally died for us. Even though the people were mean to him and were having him be killed on the crucifix he didn’t fight back instead he prayed and saved them from there sins.
for many.” Jesus states that He came to serve and not to be served that is..Well I can’t think of a word for it but the Son of GOD was sent to serve us. As I read the reflection I thought even the most humble human on this earth is still proud. Why? Because we cannot humble ourselves without the grace of God no matter how hard we try, those little thoughts like “I’m so much better” still creep in and we can’t do anything ourselves. We need Jesus to be humble but the world today tells us that power is everything. It’s really not because life can throw forks in the roads all the time and Jesus helps us choose the right one.
Jesus tells us to deny ourselves and to take up our cross, which we usually find hard to do. this is interesting, as we should do more things for Jesus and less for ourselves.
In the scripture it says that He served for a ransom for many. The ransom was our sin and God sent His only son to die for us and He did and not payed but completed the ransom for us so that we could get into heaven.Since Jesus died for us we need to sometimes suffer like He did and that is what Lent is for it is like preperation and sadness and just trying to feel like Jesus did.So we need to try to get close to Him.
“Love one another as I have loved you”
God is telling us to serve and love one another as he loves us. He is always going to love us and he will never stop doing that. You should treat other people how you want to be treated and do it the right way. God isn’t going to judge you on how you live your life but you should at least try to treat everyone the right way. Stop judging, just pay attention to you and what keeps you from being treated well or getting treated well by your pears.
“Must good be repaid with evil that they should dig a pit to take my life?”
I think Jesus in the Gospel is tying to tell us that whenever we see something bad happening to someone you should help them with goodness and be a friend to them. In that moment you should be helping him out of the goodness of your heart and not just to be seen to other people if you do that you will be rewarded by the Father.
This scripture tells us that Jesus is the exact opposite of pride. He is meek and humble of heart. None of us should ever think once in our lives that we are more powerful than God or think that God didn’t create us but that we did. That is all just horribly wrong in so many different ways. We need to be humble and corporate servants.
“Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up, pointing everyone else’s faults out to hide your own, putting down those with less intelligence to boost your own.” This sentence really sticks out to me. It is so real that people tend to just scan over it or thinking nothing of it. It is a very powerful statement and if you really pay attentions and recognize the things that happen like that in your daily life, you’ll be a bit more at peace.
Jesus came to serve us not to be serve cause Jesus just wants to love us. He want to be with us and doesn’t want us to suffer
I think Jesus is telling us that he came and died for us and he doesnt want our sacrifice he just wants our love becuse he does not need sacrifice but we need sacrifice
“meek and humble of heart”. stuck out to me because Jesus was humble and loving.
I think God is saying the golden rule treat other how you want be be treated and love one another as yourself because Jesus does it for us we should do what he does.
The scripture is telling me that to get into heaven we have to have a relationship with God. We can’t just shut him out our whole life and when death comes, we get to go to heaven. We need to pray to him and put him first before any material things or people.
We ourselves do not command our, or others destiny. We make the choices but when it comes to judgement day we don’t get to command where we go, but God does. We may ask to gain heaven , but we may possibly alter or lean to one side of our fate in order to encourage it. We may not force heaven on others, or ourselves, but we can learn and desire for it.
You have to put effort in to get to heaven because God came and died for us but he doesnt want our sacrifice we need his and the least we can do is give back to God
In today’s Gospel Jesus is telling us to stop being prideful. The King of the universe could’ve come to earth in any way, but He chose to be born in a cave with animals surrounding Him. I need to remember that I need to care for others and not just myself. Caring for others is a sacrifice and we are all called to do it.
THE SON OF MAN DID NOT COME TO BE SERVED BUT TO SERVE AND TO GIVE HIS LIFE AS A RANSOM FOR MANY.”
I think this mean that Jesus didn’t come here to save 1 person, but he came to save everybody. Jesus died for our sins, Jesus cares for us, and he loves us.
We keep trying to sacrifice for God when God doesn’t need our sacrifice because he is the most loving God there is there is nobody that would be successful without the sacrifice of others yet God can do anything.
Today’s scripture reflection told me that we need to stop being prideful. Jesus is a very humble person and wants us to be the same. Our pride is putting others down and pointing out what other flaws are instead of focusing on our flaws.
I beileve in the gospel today the Lord is saying only the Father decides who we sit with not Jesus. For Jesus is the son of are only God are Father so they both can decide who goes to heaven but the only God himself decides who you sit by. In the gospel the 10 disciples seemed preplexed until the Lord explained what he meant.
“The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve
and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Jesus only wants what is best for us, he was willing to die on the cross for our sins. Jesus want all of us to go to Heaven with him one day.
God is telling us that pride can be bad for us and for the others around us. God created us so we can be humble and have a serving heart, not have pride in ourselves. We need to serve the people that God created around us so we can all go to heaven. “Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up, pointing everyone else’s faults out to hide your own, putting down those with less intelligence to boost your own”. I love this part because everyone in the world in their life has had Pride in them before. We should be humble and serve others so we can get to Heaven with God and spent time with him forever.
We should always watch our ego so it won’t get in trouble. We need to put our pride behind us to be able to fully love Christ. You must be humble and meek to enter heaven and there are always things that will try to bring you down but, that is why we have God. He is there to guide us back to Him and help us learn the meaning of life along the way
“Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up´ this stuck out to e because today people call each other names just because they are trying to be cool or they are trying to be funny but doing that wont help us get to heaven so why should we do it. We shouldn´t be putting people down to have pride we should be helping others instead.
God is trying to tell us that we are no more important than anyone else on this Earth, no matter how rich or poor anyone is, or how good or bad someone is at a sport. We often want to be the center of attention or we want to make people look at us by doing things. We need to just be humble and kind and a great person to everyone. You don’t need to be the center of attention all of the time just so people can see who you are or how amazing you are at something. We need to be more considerate of other and have a small ego, because, not everyone is great at a sport that you are great at, or not as good at math as you are, etc. No one is better than another, and certainly no better than God!
“Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up, pointing everyone else’s faults out to hide your own,” This stuck out to me because when you have pride you are putting other people down so you feel like your the best at everything. You can be happy or excited when you do something good, but you shouldn’t be bragging about it because that’s when people start to feel like they aren’t good enough. We have to be like Jesus and be humble, even though Jesus could do everything, he wouldn’t brag about it. In the bible it doesn’t say how he bragged about walking on water, how he bragged about healing people, how he bragged about being God’s son. He was humble and we have to be to.
And so, let us destroy him by his own tongue; let us carefully note his every word.” This stuck out to me becaue we need to think about what we say before was say it. God wants us to use our words to bring people up not down.
God offers us everything he can in exchange for acknowledgement in our everyday lives. He doesn’t force us to do it. At the beginning of time, God gave us free will. He chose to let us have free will so that we would be able to make our own decisions. If we don’t get into heaven, it isn’t God’s fault, it’s ours. Our entire lives, he is encouraging us to put down our devices and distractions and to truly do good in the world. If we choose not to do that, it’s on us. He gave us a chance and we slapped his hand away from us.
A part that stuck out to me was “Stop judging and start helping”. Instead of bringing people down and watching them struggle, help them and boost them up. Instead of making a nasty comment to someone, compliment them and bring up their confidence. If we just put aside the rude remarks and start spreading kindness everyone will be happier and the world around us would be less toxic.
“Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant;
whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave.”
This stuck out to me because it shows that we are all made equally in God’s image. No one is better than the other person next to you we are all made to serve the ONLY person greater than us which is God. We are no one to judge anything about another person. The only person in our life that can judge is the One True God.
“whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant;whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave.” This is saying that we cant’t think that we are better than others or “wish to be first among you.”
God gave His only son for us. We don’t deserve that and God still loves us when we don’t listen or just ignore what He is trying to say to us. We need to be more observant. Not just on our phones all the time and to just not talk to anybody. Nobody is perfect only God is and He knows everything we don’t so we need to listen to Him and not our phones.
Today Jesus tells us to be humble. If we are first, then we will come out last. If we are last, we will come out first. If you wish to be great, you must be the servant. That line stuck out to me because our view of the world is upside down compared to Jesus. Just because we are better at something does not mean that we should not hold this over them. It means we have a gift and we need to use it to glorify God.
I wish that i could be a better person, i tried before and its hard. I changed a lot but sometimes when i change its worse. I cant tell if its because I cant see what is in front of me or that I don know how to change to become better in faith. I did Bible study, got boring and I hated just reading for an hour with women in their 50´s as the only child. I do like reading with my friends though. Me and a friend started reading the bible kinda as a joke but we got sucked into it because first off, the drama is crazy, and second off its fun just reading to gather and talking about what you learn.
“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes,
and they will condemn him to death, and hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.” This part stuck out to me because Jesus was telling his disciples that he knew that when they got to Jerusalem He would be scourged and crucified. But not to worry because He would be raised on the third day.
The mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to Jesus and asked him to have her sons next to him in his Kingdom, he said you do not know what you ask. When he was on the cross one of the people next to him asked and he said yes. The difference is not that one of them is better than the other but simply that the person on the cross himself had decided to turn to Jesus in the middle of his suffering, he had realized that this was the right thing to do and he was guaranteed a spot in heaven. You cant have someone else make the decision for you, you have to make it for yourself.
Jesus is The Son of the Father so anything we ask Jesus, Jesus gives it The Father. Just like Mary gives our worry’s and anything we ask her to Jesus. Jesus gives it to The Father. Jesus says a phrase a lot in the Bible that says it’s His Fathers will that’s what The Father wants from me. The Father loves you so much and that He already has everything planned out in your life even if it’s bad but for His plan to come true we have to follow His son. Whatever The Father had planned for you is good. Your life is good but you have to follow Jesus to make those good decisions that will ultimately lead you to The Fathers plan which is you getting to Heaven.
We are called to serve others. We are humans so we are naturally prideful in some ways so we need to learn to put aside our pride and follow Jesus’s example. He is the perfect example of humility and we should strive to be like him in that way.
“Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave.” We should strive to help others in everything that we do. We are not perfect therefore we won’t always achieve this, but we should try and follow in the Lord’s example. Jesus came down to live and be with us, then he died for us. Jesus didn’t use his abilities and his father to belittle others, rather he served and was welcoming towards everyone even the people who crucified him.
“Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve” this stuck out to me because it shows how Jesus is so loving and compassionate. He is the everliving God and the almighty, he could do anything he wants to do to us but he chooses to love and care. We should not be dissing everyone and thinking we’re greater. We should help others instead of putting them down. As Jesus cared for his disciples and even the people who nailed him to the cross, we should follow in his example.
What stuck out to me was “the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Jesus didn’t come to be someone that shows His power, He came and hid His power. He was born in a stable instead of a fancy hospital, He was a carpenter not a wealthy man, but He was wealthy in love. He died out of love for us. he didn’t try to fit with others or be mean to others to make Himself feel better instead He loved us and healed us. We need to be kind and not talk bad about people or let people feel down about themselves because of us. We need to help people. Most importantly we need to love.
My chalice you will indeed drink, but to sit at my right and at my left, this is not mine to give but is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.
this Gospel passages makes you think. Jesus is God. Yet he recognizes that he has a father. It’s really confusing but you’ve heard it many times, if you understood him, he would not be God. Jesus Christ is showing us the respect we need for our father. just like how we can’t do things without our parents allowing it, Jesus shows us that even he cannot do things without the will of the father. If you’ve noticed, every Miracle he prays to God. He lifts his eyes and says if it be your will not mine. He taught us the our father a few days ago. Jesus wants us to follow our fathers will. Thy will be done. Follow the father back to Heaven, and live etearnally in paridise
I think today’s scripture is trying to tell us that the one that leads by example or a commoner they will listen to and follow. This is important to remember as Jesus tells us many times.
We have to be humble like Jesus was. We can’t have pride because that is the work of the devil. Even if we are happy or exited because we did something good we can still be humble. Jesus did amazing things and he was still humble.
I think it means we have to know that God is always above us. He will always have a higher power than us. This is why we need to control how we think about ourselves and others. He cannot have our ego high and mighty as if we are better than God. He is the Maker of this world and we should love Him just as he loves us.
This scripture is telling me that we have to have a relationship with God to get into Heaven.God is saying to act like the golden rule treat other how you want be be treated and love one another as yourself because Jesus does it for us we should do what he does.We should not be rude or judge others because we have all been in their places before.
“Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up, pointing everyone else’s faults out to hide your own, putting down those with less intelligence to boost your own.” A lot of times we try to hide our faults my putting other people down, when we should be worried about yourself and not others. We want to correct other people when we should be correcting ourselves and not others.
As humans we are born with sin. We tend to put ourselves and our friends before God. We put our friends before God maybe because it’s easier. Or maybe because it feels more real with our friends. Jesus didn’t die on the cross to be ignored. Jesus died on the cross to be able to talk to us. Jesus isn’t disappointed in us he is patient with us. The difference being, Jesus may get angry with us but his love for us will never change.
