Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected
by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed and on the third day be raised.”
Then he said to all,
“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross daily and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
What profit is there for one to gain the whole world
yet lose or forfeit himself?” LK 9:22-25
Why do we have to deny ourselves? We have inherited a fallen human nature that causes us to desire things of this world. Oh, how many times I have followed my own desires instead of the Lord’s. What cross? Our daily crosses. Everyone suffers. It is relative to the situation your are dealt in life, but everyone suffers. Jesus gives purpose to our suffering and fashions our daily crosses to what we can deal with, we can offer them up and receive grace which is necessary to reach heaven. The saints thanked God for their crosses. Our crosses are where we learn to embrace Christ and recognize we need Him falling to our knees to ask for Him to give us what we truly need, His grace, comfort, peace, and joy. It is impossible to be holy without God’s grace. Therefore, we must lose our life to save it. We must become suffering servants like the Master Suffering Servant.
When we believe Jesus resurrected and everything He says is true, we come to His feet each day in the Gospels to learn how to be a good and faithful servant. We must lose our life for the sake of the Gospel. Our suffering has purpose and the saints even looked for ways to suffer more. Why? Jesus gave all. Even more important, He loved doing the will of the Father. The will of the Father was for Jesus to give up His life for the world. We could never even come close to paying Him back. He paid the ultimate sacrifice to save you and me. He continues to sacrifice today to stay with us hidden behind bread and wine, so that we will have spiritual food for the journey. He forgives when we are truly sorry and have fallen. Each time we fall and go through suffering, we become stronger and closer to Him. He strengthens us, never leaves us, always forgives, and is waiting daily for an invitation to be with us in our suffering.
Last, and most importantly, the greatest way to follow Jesus is by being detached from material things. ”What profit is there to gain the whole world but forfeit one’s life.” We are so distracted from what matters most. It takes daily submission to God’s will, prayer, silence, bringing ourselves to the sacraments, and continual learning and instruction by Jesus in the Gospels. We are human and we quickly forget. We are a mystery to ourselves. We need a rock, never changing Truth, to come back to so we do not get off the beaten track. I need Him constantly throughout my day. He has left us with the Holy Spirit to help us understand His Truths and pass them on to others. How shallow is our faith if we cannot pray in public and dialogue with others what we believe.
“Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words
in this faithless and sinful generation,
the Son of Man will be ashamed of
when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
Ouch! I have a lot of work to do! If we believe in the resurrection of Jesus which makes all of His Words True, we must begin to live in our hearts and minds like Christ. Christ is not dead, He is fully alive today with us. He resurrected!!!!! If we want to follow Him, we must die to self, offer up our daily crosses, strengthen our faith through His teachings, put on the Armor of God, and begin to fight Satan and grow in holiness! It is impossible to follow Him, without His grace and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. ”Come to me all who are heavy burdened and I will give you rest.” ”My heart is restless until it rests in You.” Amen.
Today’s challenge: Lent is here, make a commitment to grow in holiness, fight Satan, and make time to pray and reflect on the Scriptures. Establish a good habit of this during Lent so that it continues throughout the rest of your life so you can look back at next year’s Lent and say, “I have grown in holiness this year.”
Be a servant, become a saint!
#Christian YOLO
I think God is trying to tell us that to enter into the Kingdom of God you will have to give up everything and follow him.
Jesus is telling me that we need to give ourselves all to him in order to follow him.
Are purpose is to get to heaven, there would be no point to our existence if we gave in to sin so that we lose our identity and not get to heaven.
#praise him
Jesus is telling me that I need to commit myself to him. Follow him and I will get to heaven.
I learned that we need to offer our self up to the Lord. We need to detach ourselves from our worldly desires. We must be focused on the things of heaven, not the things of this Earth.
Jesus is trying to tell me to focus on Him more. Notice what He is doing for me. I need to get off of material things and talk to Him. I need to put Him in the center of my life.
Today the Gospel is telling me to give everything to God to submit myself to God fully to Him. Sometimes is will be hard but he died for us on the cross so we can push through all the bad things that come our way.
I think this is telling us that in order to go follow God you have to be ready to drop everything. We have to be able to make sacrifice everything and suffer more for Jesus. He asks us to carry his cross and with that it comes with dropping everything else and focusing of Christ.
Jesus is telling me today that I must give my all in order to get to heaven. I have to detach myself from worldly things and be with only him.
To me this is telling me that we need to take our crosses without complain about them and be thankful that we are alive today.
I like this because he tells me to start my day with prayer and to pray to him and let go of all the luxury and follow him
We need to offer our sufferings up to Jesus. Every time we fail we suffer but Jesus will come and forgive our sins. We need to submit to God’s will in our daily lives. We need to let go of material things and focus on Jesus. Heaven is our main priority and not our electronics.
If we truly believe in God and that Jesus died on the cross for us we need to follow him and follow the teachings that he has given us. We can just pick and choose what we want to believe.
We need not to be so rapped up in ourselves. Take time out of your day and worship God. Sometimes we take things for granted, and we need to step back and see that everything he has done for us. This Lent is not about us, it is about what Jesus did for us. Lets use prayer, fasting, and almsgiving to be with Him and spend 40 days with Him in the dessert.
I learned that we must pick up our cross and follow Jesus. What also stuck out to me was that Jesus said “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. This stuck out to me a lot.
jesus is telling me today that we must give up everything to join him.
Jesus died on the cross for us and we need to give our self to him. Over lent we need to give up something or do something to make us grow closer to god. This lent i am going start making a habit of saying a rosery everyday and not just during lent.
I learned that we need to take up a cross and follow Jesus.
We need to remember the suffering Jesus went through and not complain about things that arent that bad.To know that the way to repay Jesus for what he has done is to follow him and believe he resurrected. It is very important we established a good prayer life.
This gospel reading teaches us how to get to heaven. Jesus tells his disciples that in order to get to have eternal life you must give up yours on Earth. He also says if we don’t do this we give up our lives to him then we won’t receive eternal life.
We must give ourselves openly and freely to God to follow him to eternal life in Heaven.
Today, Jesus is telling me that the only way to get into heaven is to follow Him. I must give everything up for Him just like how He gave everything up for love of me.
We need to show God that we love him. We need to help him carry his cross and follow him.
Jesus is telling me to follow him and take up my cross.
God is trying to tell us that we need to take up a cross and make a sacrifice for lent and follow him not only during this lent but for every second of our lives.
Jesus has truly resurrected and as Catholics, we must believe that.
Jesus is telling us to drop everything to follow and worship him.
We must give up everything and follow Jesus, because even if we have a bunch of material things, we can still not make it to Heaven. So, we need to take up our cross and follow Him.
we need to get to heaven. We need to fully commit ourselves to Jesus .
We have to realize that jesus died for us and ressurected and the only way to get to heaven is to believe what he is and what he has done and follow him in prayer do what he did we have to spread the word of God
Jesus is telling me that I’m getting so focused on electronics and what’s going on on the world that I’m not focused on God. I need to drop everything to follow him. I need to be ready to sacrifice all that I have to live in eternal peace with God in Heaven.
I think God loves everyone and he will always so be proud of you and he knows everything you do and so you have to have trust in God
I think Jesus is telling me that to get to heaven I need to unselfish, and take my time to get closer to God, to live a holy life.
I think this Scripture passage is trying to tell me that if we want to be in the Kingdom of Heaven we need to give up all of our desires and possessions, and follow Jesus. This is also trying to tell us that we need to sacrifice what we want too.
Why are we afraid to do the right thing? We need to be able to take our crosses and carry them just like Jesus did. Our crosses are tiny compared to the cross that Jesus carry. All of our sins were carried by Him. We need to take our crosses with gratefulness because we get a chance to feel a bit of what Jesus felt. I personally feel that that is what lent is about!
I think God is telling us that if we want to follow him we need to not only give are self up for God but we need to give up everything and go follow him give all your riches, open your house to the poor, and you even may have to leave your family. It will be hard but that is the test to see if we are ready for heaven but if we are willing to follow him we would drop everything and go. When you do this we will get to heaven.
What really stood out to me in the Scripture was that we have to fully give up our time for others because they each have God in them and that is what will bring us to holiness. We have to sacrifice what we want for others so that we can fulfill what God wants and make it to Heaven and bring as many others with us as possible.
I think it is telling us to give up what is not needed and what is not good and follow him with out even looking back. Because that is what we deserve and what we should work towards.
I think God is telling me to focus on him and to follow and worship him.
There is no profit in this situation because to follow God and to do that you have to give up all material possessions.
I think that God is saying that all are welcome in the kingdom of god and that we shouldnt be afraid to trust him
We need to give everything away to make it to heaven, so lets go through this and give up everything up to God so we can make it to heaven
I believe this is trying to tell me that no matter what, take love in the Lord and love the cross that Christ gives you everyday.
I think this means that we need to give up everything for Jesus and be humble and follow Him.
Jesus is telling me today that I need to give my whole self p to him in order to follow Him.
I think Jesus is telling us that we don’t need our goods to be with Him because He is all we need.
God is telling me to leave everything behind. He´s telling me that I can trust in him and I don´t have to worry.
Jesus says to to make sacrifices for him and to take up your cross, because of course it will be hard.
Jesus is telling us, he is warning us what will happen if we do this or that. If we give our life for him we will go to heaven. If we do our own thing, and try to ignore Jesus in this life, it will be harder for us to get to Heaven.
I think God is trying to tell me that we shouldn’t be focused on material things such as electronics. We need to be more focused on God then anything. This lent, we all need to grow in holiness and fight sin. We need to learn to love and worship God more in order to get to heaven.
God is trying to tell us that all we need is Him. We need nothing but Him. We need to fully commit ourselves to Jesus. We need to focus on Him. We need to read the scripture, pray and listen and talk to Him. We need to give ourselves up to God. We need to show him that we love him by worshiping him.
the answer to that question is that there is no gain from obtaining the world while also losing yourself .losing your self means not getting into heaven and not having eternal life with God.
I Think what God says to us in today’s Scripture is that we are selfish people, and this is a big problem for heaven, because to get into heaven we need to not be sinners, and to have the correct response to his message, is that we need to not be greedy, and we can then enter the kingdom of heaven
I think that God is saying do not be afraid live your life I just wont you to be happy
We need to learn how to remember and not learn t forget.
God is telling me to humble myself and to take care of my own problems if I want to go to Heaven
Jesus is telling us that we must fully commit to God. We must also do everything for God.
He is saying that we have to give up our earthly lives to have eternal life.
God is trying to show us that we must fully give ourselves up to him and disregard our possessions. We need to follow him wholeheartedly.
We must give up everything and be willing to fallow Jesus and stay with him forever we will not have our possessions in heaven .
Jesus is telling me that if I give up my life to him, I will live in heaven forever with him.
I think this is saying that I need to give everything up and follow God in order to get into Heaven.
This gospel is about how if we want to get to Heaven, then we need to stop thinking about ourselves and live our life for God and to God. This is the only way we will reach Heaven. If we deny ourselves and follow God then we are living a holy, Catholic, religious life and that’s how we will get to Heave.
We have to deny ourselves in order to love and respect Jesus. It´s the only way we can follow ad love Him.
We need to try and not get ourselves caught up in a system of narcissism where all we ever think about is ourselves, we need to start thinking about others and how we can help others to know love, and serve God. We need to move the focus from ourselves to God and then others before ourselves. God wants us to take up our cross and help others take up theirs so that they may know, love, and server Him for all eternity.
i think it is telling us that if we want to follow him better that we have to be detached from all of our material things
Jesus is telling us that we must take up our cross to get to heaven and be saints.
I believe that Jesus is saying that it doesn’t matter if you have lots of money or possessions but if we are rich in spirit.
I think God is trying to tell me that I need to be more active in my spiritual life. Also to pray more and pray about my devotion to God.
During Lent we fast to help us put God at the center of our lives. When we fast, we deny ourselves. Lent is a great way to get closer to Jesus by denying ourselves. We need to use this Lent to help us get to heaven. We need to give up our worldly possessions and follow God wholeheartedly.
I think Jesus is telling us that we need to drop everything and follow Him. It is really important to follow Him so that we can get into Heaven.
Jesus predicts his Passion, and says that we should give ourselves to Him, the one true God.
God needs to be the main focus in our life, but we are so distracted by other things. To get to Heaven we have to be able to give up these things and follow him.
We need to understand God is all. God is one with us through Jesus and has shown his love in the same way. We must give our all to God so He can help us be with Him eternally in Heaven. God made us and will always love us and wants us to Love him in return. We have to lose ourselves for God so he can save us. If we try to save ourselves by continuing our ways the only thing we save is our nature to try to stay where we are and keep the world the same way.
We have to realize that Jesus Died for us and that he resurected for us and that he does so much for us and we don;t even realize it until the future.
Jesus is telling us that we must give up what we have in order to follow Him. He is telling us that if we give our lives up to Him we will be saved. We need to pray, purify ourselves, help others, and reflect on the Scriptures. Then we will truly be saved, and enter His Kingdom.
Jesus is foretelling the passion and ressurection. He is telling us that we need to be proud of our religion and not doubt him. We need to follow him and if we can´t announce that we believe in him then we won´t make it to heaven.
We need to follow Him. We need to follow Jesus at all times in our daily lives. This is mandatory to achieve our greatest goal of getting to Heaven. If we don’t honestly know Jesus, we need to get that started because we can’t just worship Him if we don’t know Him. The Gospel today is saying to me that there’s no point in life if we don’t understand our being here.
We each have our own crosses to carry. We can´t carry these all by ourselves. We need to let God into our lives and have Him help us. Our crosses would be a lot lighter if we worked on our prayer life and attitude towards God. In order to help us get to heaven, we must be willing to drop everything for Christ. If we can´t even drop all our humanly possessions, then how can we get to heaven. God died on the cross for us and our sins, we should be willing to give up our possessions to follow Him. One way to help us get closer to God and have a better prayer life is Lent. We can build a strong habit during lent to bring us closer to the God we need in our lives.
I think God is telling us that we can not take our worldly possessions into Heaven.
If we want to go to Heaven then we need to give all of ourselves to God. If we don’t then we will lose our identity, and be in deep sin.
Jesus is telling me that i need to give up my life and follow him.
The gospel to day tells us that we have to be rejected by the things of the world that don’t lead us to Christ. We need to be set aside for God.
Jesus is trying to tell me to focus on Him more and that he has resurrected and is the true God.
God is telling us to humbly submit ourselves to go and we need to give everything up and allow God to lead us to heaven.
I think the lord is saying that we need to give up everything to go follow and preach the word of God.
If you want to follow Jesus you need to think more of him and not be self centered and let everything you do be done for God.
Jesus is telling me that he needs to be the center of my life, not a part of it. He is also saying that I need to focus on Him and not on worldly things.
Jesus is letting us know that material things aren’t needed. We need to be holy and prayerful to get to heaven, NOT rich in wealth.
This is telling me that I need to follow Jesus and carry his cross for him. Also if I want to follow him I need to give my self up to him and love him.
We must always be willing to give everything up to God. He always wants us to follow him.
We must trust in Jesus because he will lead us to him in Heaven. Especially during lent this is a good time to become closer to him.
Jesus is telling me that I need to commit myself completely to God. If I do I will have the eternal gift, which is heaven! God’s love is more powerful than anything on earth. We have to give ourselves to God, and he will be very happy. We need to accomplish this lent being the best ever.
Jesus is telling me that in order to make it to heaven I need to do my fathers will. i need to do his will no matter how hard or how heavy my cross may be. To always follow and do His will, will guide me towards salvation.
Jesus is telling me that I need to commit to him and not to be attached to my material things.
I think God is telling us that we must give ourselves up for him instead of only thinking about ourselves. If we do this we will make it into Heaven
We need to give our whole life to God. God has done so much for us and we need to be grateful. If we want to get to Heaven we need to give up all our worldly desires and follow Jesus.
Today’s Gospel is about how we are all suffering with sin, which can help us by following into God’s footsteps.
I think Jesus’ point today was to tell me that we must give our all in order to get to heaven. We need to work for what we earn.
In today’s gospel, Christ tells us that we need to put everything behind to focus on God. We need to worry less about ourselves and other worldly desires and trust God with our whole lives. We need to trust that God will lead us in the right direction.
God is telling me today to give up all of my material things that i don’t need and follow him and his word.
We need to die to self to follow Christ.
God is saying that fasting is the way to heavan.
Jesus is telling us to follow him, and to drop everything that we are doing that we think is important when really it isn’t important, the only important thing is Jesus.
This says that Jesus created everyone and we should not try to be someone else to fit in with other people.
God wants us to do anything it takes to be with him in heaven evens if that means having too not hang out with your friends and just spend time with God and the Holy spirit
Jesus is telling us to not to hold on to things to close. We need to be able to give up our worldly items in order to enter the gates of Heaven. Giving up something you’re attached to for an hour or two helps us to detach from an item.
I am getting told through this that Jesus is saying that we need to put him in the center of our life instead of the internet or social media. I need to be able to put everything else behind me and be able to put Jesus in the center of my life.
We must give everything up to love God truly.
Jesus is saying to us that we need to follow Him. And to do that we need to give our lives up to Him and carry our crosses every day. We need to do this to get to Heaven.
I think that God is telling us that we need to have faith and trust in Him, even though it will be difficult. We need to give everything we have to Him it will be hard now but it will pay off in the future.
Jesus is saying that we must everything up and follow him. We WILL be saved by God. God is the most important thing in our lives. We all need to pray more, and work on our spiritual lives. We need to be willing to follow Jesus, and follow his orders. We all need to focus more on our spiritual life and God. Jesus dies for us so we could LIVE! We need to give everything up and follow Him.
Jesus is trying to tell us that we need to detach ourselves from material possessions. We have to take Jesus and make him the center of our life, no matter the consequence. Whether we want to accept it or not, nothing is more important in our life than Jesus. We all have crosses to bear, but we have to overcome them and help Jesus carry his cross.
We need to give our wealth away and give ourselves to God through prayer and fasting throughout not only lent but through the whole year.
Jesus is saying that we need to let him in our boat. That means we need to give up our lives to Jesus and let him guide me.
We need to realize what God did for us and we can do something for him. God is telling me that we need to give up materilistic things and focus on God.
I think God is telling us that if we want to become closer to Him we need to let go of our stuff that we have on earth. And realize what we have done on earth. We also need to stop being so selfish we need to give up what we have and give back to the church for what they have done for us so that we could get to heaven.
God is telling us that to enter the kingdom of heaven we need to get rid of our material possessions.
There is nothing left for you when you’re rich. You are looking for something that you won’t find in material possessions, happiness. You can have everything in the universe, but not God and you will still be unhappy. To truly find happiness you must follow the Christ, in Heaven you will get real happiness.
We must deny what we want and do what God wants us to do. It is not up to us to decide what happens in our life God has a plan for us and we must follow it no matter what kind of cross we have to pick up in the process. We can never compare our hardships to Christ’s cross because he suffered more than all the responsibilites or struggles in our whole life times ten.
What Jesus is teaching us today is that if we want to follow him we need to leave all material possessions an follow Him. We can not take our iPhone, x box, our play station, nor our television to heaven. Those THINGS will NOT help us go to heaven, yet we are wasting our life on them. Rather than praying and adoring Christ we are playing fortnight, binge watching Netflix ,and not adoring God, we are not praising Him, we are not going to confession asking forgiveness. We are sitting sitting around with our material possessions wasting our lives on them. One thing is for sure. We are either addicted to material possessions or we are a slave to them. This lent I am going to try and detach my self from these material possessions, how about you?
I can give myself fully to God and trust him more and listen to him by praying and participate in mass more like sing more in mass
I can give myself fully to God by praying more often. I can also go to mass more and going to confession more. One more thing I can do to give myself fully to God is alter serving more.
I can trust him and give myself fully to him
