Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected
by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed and on the third day be raised.”
Then he said to all,
“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross daily and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
What profit is there for one to gain the whole world
yet lose or forfeit himself?” LK 9:22-25
Why do we have to deny ourselves? We have inherited a fallen human nature, a loss of grace. We have an inclination to sin each day we wake. Oh, how many times I have followed my own desires instead of the Lord’s. What cross? Our daily crosses. Everyone suffers. It is relative to the situation your are dealt in life, but everyone suffers. Jesus gives purpose to our suffering and fashions our daily crosses to what we can deal with, we can offer them up and receive grace which is necessary to reach heaven. The saints thanked God for their crosses. Our crosses are where we learn to embrace Christ and recognize we need Him falling to our knees to ask for Him to give us what we truly need, His grace, comfort, peace, and joy. It is impossible to be holy without God’s grace. Therefore, we must lose our life to save it. We must become suffering servants like the Master Suffering Servant.
When we believe Jesus resurrected and everything He says is true, we come to His feet each day in the Gospels to learn how to be a good and faithful servant. We are asked by Christ to lose our life for the sake of the Gospel. Our suffering has purpose and the saints even looked for ways to suffer more. Why? Jesus gave all. Even more important, He loved doing the will of the Father. The will of the Father was for Jesus to give up His life for the world. We could never even come close to paying Him back. He paid the ultimate sacrifice to save you and me. He continues to sacrifice today to stay with us hidden behind bread and wine, so that we will have spiritual food for the journey. He forgives when we are truly sorry and have fallen. Each time we fall and go through suffering, we become stronger and closer to Him. He strengthens us, never leaves us, always forgives, and is waiting daily for an invitation to be with us in our suffering.
Last, and most importantly, the greatest way to follow Jesus is by being detached from material things. ”What profit is there to gain the whole world but forfeit one’s life.” We are so distracted from what matters most. It takes daily submission to God’s will, prayer, silence, bringing ourselves to the sacraments, and continual learning and instruction by Jesus in the Gospels. We are human and we quickly forget. We are a mystery to ourselves. We need a rock, never changing Truth, to come back to so we do not get off the beaten track. I need Him constantly throughout my day. He has left us with the Holy Spirit to help us understand His Truths and pass them on to others. How shallow is our faith if we cannot pray in public and dialogue with others what we believe.
“Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words
in this faithless and sinful generation,
the Son of Man will be ashamed of
when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
Ouch! I have a lot of work to do! If we believe in the resurrection of Jesus which makes all of His Words True, this Lent may we begin to live in our hearts and minds like Christ. Christ is not dead, He is fully alive today with us. He resurrected!!!!! If we want to follow Him, we are called to die to self, offer up our daily crosses, strengthen our faith through His teachings, put on the Armor of God, and begin to fight Satan and grow in holiness! It is impossible to follow Him, without His grace and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. “Come to me all who are heavy burdened and I will give you rest.” ”My heart is restless until it rests in You.” Amen.
Today’s challenge: Lent is here, make a commitment to grow in holiness, fight Satan, and make time to pray and reflect on the Scriptures. Establish a good habit of this during Lent so that it continues throughout the rest of your life so you can look back at next year’s Lent and say, “I have grown in holiness the last 40 days.” We have suffered a lot this year. Reflect on suffering and its benefits!
Be a servant, become a saint!
#Christian YOLO
I can apply this to my life by thanking God for suffering and dying for our sins on the cross, I need to especially thank God because he never did anything wrong.
In this Gospel shows me that we must put Jesus first if we want to come after Him. He tells us that we must deny ourself and take up our daily cross which could mean our daily struggles. We can take up the pain and offer it up for the sake of our sould. We will have to suffer but it will never be as much suffering as how much Jesus suffered while takin gup his cross. We can sacrifice in order to come after Jesus because it is with true love that Jesus died for us.
We all have challenges and problems. We can wallow in these and compplain or we can learn something from them and continue on with life.
If you truely want God you have to sacrafice. You can’t be on the fence you can’t be uncertain you need to love. God is love but you need to sacrafice for the love you have to give up some things God must be the center of your life. You can not put God aside for other times while you do a certain thing for 3 weeks God is love we need love.
“The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.” Jesus suffered for us. He died for us and was ridiculed and rejected all for us. He is showing us that we should give our life to Him, just as He did for us.
Jesus had to suffer and be rejected by everyone so he could save us from our sins.
I can apply this to my life by really praying to God during this lenten season and by praying extra to give up this lent
As lent is here we should think of ways that we can be on our knees spiritually for Christ. As we have suffered tha past year we should think of the good things that it has brought and remind ourselves what Jesus did for us on the cross.
We all have an iclination to sin every day because of our fallen human nature. We all have crosses because of our sins.
I like the line “What profit is there for one to gain the whole world yet lose or forfeit himself?” It reminds me that you shouldn’t change who you are to get something in life, like popularity, or money, or any other earthly thing. Jesus tells us that we will have to suffer. He tells us that we will have our own crosses to carry. But to get to Heaven, we have to carry those crosses and follow Jesus.
One thing that I can take away from this gospel is to remember that you cannot be a lukewarm Catholic. Jesus says that if you want to follow him you have to deny yourself, and pick up your cross to do so. This indicates that Being a good Catholic is not going to be easy by any means, but when you do, you will be truly joyful. Not just the temporary satisfaction that this world offers, but the eternal and everlasting joy that the God who made us out of his love has to offer.
I feel like in the time that Jesus was saying all of this stuff, everyone, even his beleivers, thought he was crazy. But in todays Catholic Schools and Churches that is what everything revolves around. Im sure that if some random person came and told me that if I were to die with him then I would save the entire world, then I would think that he was a crazy person.
What I took away from this gospel is that God is always there for us, even when we sin. We need to liaten to God and fight against our sins. Just believe in God and listen to him and he will be there to help you.
We know we should give up other things so we can put God first. During lent it is hard to give up the things we love but we realize that God is a lot more important than the app or something we like.
This reading is talking about if you don’t suffer you will later and if you suffer now you won’t have much to suffer later in life. I can reflect on this reading by giving up something that I do a lot.
In the scripture today, Jesus says, “Whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” I think this tells us how in life we will do things to only benefit us, but those things may harm us spritually. However, those who do things for Jesus and give up their lives for him will be saved. Jesus continues this by saying, “What profit is there for one to gain the whole world yet lose or forfeit himself?” This is saying how while we may gain materialistic things, what’s the point if we lose ourselves in the process and potentially become fake or a shell that we once were.
God is saying that if we give up our life for him he will give us eternal life. If we do not give up our lifr for him we will be not saving our life. He wants us to be with him in Heaven. He makes us holy and wants us to sacrifice our life for him. God wants us to love him. He wants us to go to Heaven
I can apply this to my life by knowing that we have to go through suffering to go to Heaven. There is no way around it either.
“I am a chicken” was the phrase that I used to go by in my youth. And now even I laugh at that. A chicken goes about wandering and doing its own buisness and bobbling its head back and forth as it walks. When I was around 9 I would go outside and imagine, imitate, and do all the actions of a Pokemon trainer, catching Pokemon and doing things with my sister. I didn’t care what the world had against me, I just did it. Even my neighbors yelled at me when I made my victory pose. Nowadays, I still do the same, but there’s this thing called Puberty and now I do what I did in secret, whether it’s in my bed or silently doing it in my books. Alot of things can come from someone when they put their thought to it. If you look closely at me while I’m writing, you’ll notice that I do random jerks in my head, and that signals that a sword was just swung at an opponet, or if you look at my emotions, that signals that a conversation is happening. Anyway, the point that I’m getting to here is that if were to follow Christ, we’ve got to not be like the chicken. We can’t just wanderlessly aim for heaven, that could just lead us to hell. Sure, I’ve got things that I’ve got to check up on, but once I do, I’ll be the best person I am, whether an author, a gamer, or the one-winged angel who can merge forms with the light.
What God is say is, you must follow Jesusu to come up to me.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells the Gospel to deny themselves, give up their cross and follow Him. Every day we wake, He is calling us to do the same. He gives us obstacles (our cross) that He know we can overcome, so that we can grow closer to Him. He wants to grow closer to us and be with us, all we need to do is trust him and let him.
Jesus loves us so much He was willing to sacrifice His own life for us. We must sacrifice too, to show God that we love Him more than the comforts here on earth; like during Lent we sacrifice some to grow closer to God and away from earthly comforts.
Today, we can kind of see some normal common sense in this. What good does it do us if we’re, say, the president of the United States and don’t lead a holy life? A poor person could live a holy life and receive a better reward from God. The only accomplishments that will be taken into account when we’re judged is the good we do in this world.
There is a card that I saw a few weeks ago. It was a saint card of saint Andre Bessette. His quotes were written right there- several of them. But what caught my attention was one of the last ones. “Do not seek to have these trials lifted from you. Instead, ask for the grace to bear them well.” Jesus remarks about this again in the Gospel. “If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross daily and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
What profit is there for one to gain the whole world
yet lose or forfeit himself?”
God is telling me in this Gospel that if we really want to get to Heaven with him together we need to focus on Heavenly things that can get us there not Earthly things like our electronics or new clothes. He also is telling me that if I really believe in him would I die for my beilefs or would I reject my beliefs.
What I can take away from this reading is that we need God in our life. We need to put our trust in him and trust that he will do good. We can’t think that we dont need God because we need him. If we take his hand and follow him our life will be less stressfull and much better.
Jeaus is telling us in order to save our lives we must be able to give our selfes compleatly to him, we may get hurt aloung the way but for the sake of our soul that has to be a risk we are willing to take.
We need to follow God and dedicate our lives to Jesus. Jesus suffered for us and our sins so we could go to heaven. We need to pray and love God.
This gospel shows that there is no death in God, only hell. If we truly love God we will have no need for worldy things becuase we trust that God would provide everything we need.
We all have challenges but how are we gonna deal with them. Are we gonna put them aside and “deal with it later”. Or are we gonna face the challange all the time. God is waiting for us so are we gonna chose him or not.
Our suffering has purpose and we can accept it and offer it up. In suffering, we become closer to God. From suffering comes good and without it, nothing good would happen. Christ had to be rejected to save us, and we have to be grateful that he took away our sins.
In today’s Gosple Jesus is telling us that whoever follows me and do what I ask with live great life and seek eternal heaven with me. This leten season should show us how much Jesus really cares for us and loves us. He carried a cross to later die on that cross for our sins. I don’t think we realize sometimes how important God is. He loves us so much and we need to love him so much back because we have nothing to loose to talk to our heavelny father everyday.
Jesus suffered and died on a cross for us to be happy with Him in Heaven. We need to understand that we have crosses to carry and we need to follow HIm.
I feel like as kids we thought “oh, as long as a go to church I will be in heaven on day, but now that I’m older I realise the thats not the only thing I need to be doing, believing in Jesus and God is something even Satan does, so what makes me any different? If I truly want to be in heaven I have to put up my life for the Lord and go through all the hate I will recieve, then and only then will I be reunited with the Father.
i can apply this to my life by praying to God and knowing that you have to suffer to reach heaven and that their is no way around it.
“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” In the Gospel today, Jesus essentially says that you’re going to have to suffer to get in to Heaven. We must use Jesus as a role model on how we should live our life.
As humans, we are selfish creatures. We only think about what is best for ourselves. Jesus, instead of being selfish, was selfless in giving Himself up for our sins. This shows just how much He cares about us. He cares about us enough to give His own life in exchange for ours. How many times have we thought of giving something up for a family member? We must remember Jesus’ enormous sacrifice, and know that we can make small sacrifices for the ones that we love.
Jesus died for our sins. We must be willing to give our life to him, take our suffering and offer it up to him.
Jesus sacrificed His life for us. The least we could do is listen to Him. We run from Him everyday. But why do we run? If we don’t control our desires we run from God. Instead of running from Him, why not run to Him. Hes the only one strong enough to break our bad habits. And the less atached we get to this world, the more enjoyable it will be. We need to remember that this world is only temperary. Heaven is eternal. Gods love is eternal.
I can apply this scripture to my life by knowing that Jesus went through a lot of pain and was rejected by everyone just to save us. Jesus didn’t go through all that pain for nothing. We need to understand that Jesus loves us so much that he died just to save us. We need to pray to Jesus and thank him for dieing on the cross to save us from sin.
Jesus is saying how He is going to save humanity to his disciples. He also says we need to carry our cross daily. I think he is saying that we need to stop worrying about earthly things and follow God more.
I can apply this to my life by being grateful that Christ died on the cross for me. He tells us to take up our cross and suffer. This means that we should offer our sufferings up to Him. He sacraficed Himself for us because He wants the best for us and He loves us. We should suffer, like how Christ did, and learn to be more humble. By doing so, we will get closer to God.
jesus gave up everything to open up Heaven. He was scared and nervous but God told him to do something, so he did it. He had our best interests at heart. The very least we could do it sacrifice a few minutes to pray.
I can apply this scripture to my life by realizing that God sacrificed his own life for us to be free of sin and life a happy life. God sacrificed his own life for us and the least we can do for him is spread his greatness. If we sacrifice our own life for God and do as he has taught us we will live eternally with him.
I think what I am getting out of today’s scripture is that we shouldn’t back down, or settle. We as a society hold people up to certain standards and goals. We shouldn’t feel the need to “surrender to the dark side” when we are feeling persecuted or different than others. We should celebrate our differences and remember that in the end, God will have the final word, and He knows who was right and who was wrong.
I can apply this to my life by thanking God for suffering and dying for our sins on the cross, I need to especially thank God because he never did anything wrong.
This Lent i’m trying to get rid of the unnecessary distractions from God. I’m trying to make it a point to give myself up to God at least once everyday. In the past i’ve just given up things that I don’t need not trying to give up something that is tempting me or drawing me away from God.
I can apply this to my life by really praying to God during this lenten season. Also Jesus suffered for our sins and so we suffer with him for forty days as a reminder that God is real and he will save us from our sins.
What I learned from this scripture passage was that if we have challenges God will help us get through them no matter what.
We should all sacrifice something every once in a while for God. Wether that being giving up hot showers for a week or not eating candy for a month. It’s always good to sacrifice little things for Jesus because he gave up his life for us.
Jesus put us first when he died on the cross for our sins. Now we must put him first and put all of our faith in him in return.
Jesus is telling us that we need to give our lives up completly. We can not be on the fence about our religion.
This scripture tells me that in order to be with God, we have to give up our life for him. We have to sacrifice for him. We have to make sacrifices in our life, to make it to heaven.
God wants us to give ourselves up to him. That is a requirement of the Church. We must love God enought to die for him. dying for someone is the ultimate sacrafice of self, nothing goes above it.
We sin. A lot. But God forgives us each time that we confess our sins. Even though God forgives us doesn’t mean that we can just keep sinning and we’ll get to heaven just because God forgave us. No, we need to try to stop sinning.
This scripture passage is telling us that we weren’t made for a life of comfort. We are going to have to suffer like Jesus. I can apply this to my life by knowing how much Jesus suffered for me dying on the cross, and by being willing to carry up my crosses.
We should all thank God for everything we have. We may have our up and downs but we have to find the positive in the negatives. Jesus gave up his life for us we should at least make sacrafices for him.
What I took away from this passage is that I need to not listen to the bad thoughts in my mind and listen to what Jesus says. We need to distrust ourselves and trust in God, know that he loves us and will take care of us.
What I can take away from this gospel passage is that I need to stand up for my faith and stay strong through times like covid.I also should stand up for my faith when people like to criticize me for my faith.
In today’s scripture Jesus is telling us that we will have to suffer to get to Heaven.
This gospel is speaking to me by telling me that not every person will follow him and being in is footstepos or following them will not always be easy you will suffer that is what sin can do to you. He said that “If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross daily and follow me” and that its reminding me you will go through a heck of a lot of sin but that is what Jesus is helping you with you got to confession and give your sins to Jesus and he forgives you but in the end you are follow him and you will make it there one day right at the right hand of him.
What I comprehended from this scripture was we must suffer to follow Christ and eventually get to Heaven.
As people, we view life as a thing which is not worth losing. We must protect life at all times. But, in the scripture, Jesus explains that sometimes living isn’t the best route for us. Sometimes living is worse than dying. If you keep yourself alive, just to benefit yourself and not others, there’s no point in that. We were created to love and share, not to hoarde our belongings. It’s better to be dead in virtue and grace, than it is to live in sin.
I can apply today’s scripture in my life by knowing that Jesus suffered to get us to Heaven. He suffered a lot, but he loved us and would do anything for us. Our spiritual Journey will be hard. We will suffer, but God did not give us anything he can’t handle. He will continue to suffer for us, because he loves us and wants us to have a relationship with him.
We need to remember that God didn’t have to have Jesus die on the cross for us. Jesus didn’t commit any sin but he loved us so much that He was willing to die on the cross for us.
Jesus gave his life for us, he sacrificed himself so we could have a chance to live. Nowdays people do not care that they are given that chance, people do not believe in him, they do not trust him, they think that they are the center of the universe. One thing we can all do to follow in his footsteps is to give up something and to help another person with something that they are struggling on like homework or chores. Just small things that can make someones day.
Jesus is telling us that if we are to follow him we must give up ourselves, but as humans we usally think about only ourselves and our self-gain. But Jesus is telling us to stop trying to save ourselves frim sin on our own and to embrace the true way to save yourself from hell, with him, it is not a journey you can take alone you need God’s grace to fuel you and to give you the courage to do what is right. But you need to get the grace from the sacraments, mass, and prayer. We need to forget about our temporary self and think about were you will be spending your spiritual life. You just need to goto God and ask for his help and truly desire for his help and he will give you his everlasting grace.
In life we have to suffer. It’s hard facing reality. We can’t ignore the fact that not all human life is perfect. Jesus wants us to head down the right path. We all have to face reality no matter what consequences there is.
I can pray to God during Lent and and give something up to Him no matter how hard it is to give it up.
Jesus died for our sins and we have to be able to do the same thing for him.
This helped me relise that with evrthing that happens in our lives God will be right there to help us no matter what.
To go to God, first you must give yourself to Him. We need to do this to be able to be saved. If we reject God then we will be sinful.
What I got from todyas gospel is that if we want to follow Jesus we have to deny the world. Becasue if we want to follow Jesus but cant deny ourselves then we cant follow Jesus. There is no in between Jesus and the world it is one or the other. The world tries it hardest to tell us that what is wrong is right and what is right wrong. So we have to be strong in our faith so we can be united with Jesus one day.
I can apply this scripture to my life by not being scared of my own cross because if I am I will never pick it up, but if I am not scared of it and pick it up I will get the greatest reward which is Heaven.
I will apply this to my life by knowing how much God has gave uo for us. He even gave up his own son for us. so I think this lent I should give up more than just one thing. I need to give up sacrifices just like Gpd did for me.
This scripture is telling me that we are stuck to material things like money or valuable things. We cannot be holy by not having God’s grace.
In today’s gospel, it reminds me that we should give up everything and to give ourselves to God. For him to lead us. Jesus died on the cross for us so that we can live, not live carelessly and not follow God’s rules.
Today, Jesus tells us that whoever wishes to save their life will lose it and whoever loses their life for His sake will save it. Jesus tells us to take up our cross each day and we will have eternal life with Him. I can apply this message to my life by putting others before myself and taking on my hardships each day for Jesus.
jesus died for us on the cross for us. we need to be willing to give our life up for him whenever.
What I took away from today’s Gospel was that the Lord is telling us to follow him he is showing us how to become a Saint and how to be a better Catholic. ” Deny yourself and take up your daily cross and follow me.” When Jesus died on the cross that is the only thing he did, he resserurected, saved us from our sins, and opened the gates to Heaven. So in this Lent season we need to get closer with God and take up our cross daily for him, no matter what we do we could never repay him for his great sacrifice.
In todays Gospel it talks about how you can’t follow Jesus if you follow the world to. This shows how if we really want to be close to Jesus we have to be willing to not care what the world thinks and what the world says we should do. “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.”
This shows how if we die for God we will live forever.
I think that this reading is telling us that we have to take into account that other people have needs and many people cannot sustain them. We are called to care after everybody not just ourselves. If there is a choice where we could improve our life but make another person miserable we are called to care for others above ourselves. This is what Jesus did when he died on the cross. He chose the option that benefits us not Himself. This is something that we have lost the sense of in this pandemic because we are supposed to be appart according to to the health people. This does’t mean that we can’t help other people. We should still take care of others in the safest way possible, whether it be saying hello to somebody outside their window to getting someone groceries and leaving them on their doorstep, we need to help omre than ever now.
Jesus has a plan for evry thing so put faith in God and go with that plan
I must not complain about my suffering because Jesus suffered for me and I must unite my suffering to his.
In today’s gospel, Jesus tells us that we must deny ourselves and take up our cross. We must put Jesus first in our lives. “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” If we truly want to be with Christ, there must be sacrifice and suffering. We need to love God enough, to the point that we will sacrifice ourselves and die for him.
In this gospel Jesus says that if anyone wished to go after him they must deny themself and take upon his cross daily. I think Jesus is saying that we should pray to him everyday. Jesus is telling us that he will be there for us.
He says that when we want him to be saved we must die and those who die for him will save it. This means that if I was a missionary and I was killed because of your faith you will be acceptedby God into Heaven.
We need to sacrifice more of ourselves for God. We need our Sacrifice, not God. He is perfect in every way and He is also Divine with His Son and the Holy Spirit.
In life, people will bring you down and treat you like your a nobody. But Jesus is saying even in the worst tims to never forget about Him, to never stop believing in Him.
Jesus Sacraficed his life for us and suffered. That is why lent is important it shows that we suffer to.
The part of this gospel that stuck out to me today was, “If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross daily and follow me.” This verse means a lot to me, in a personal way, and is just more proof that Jesus really does speak to us through His word. Jesus loves us so much that He embraced His cross for us. I think we often forget how huge of a sacrifice it was for Jesus to die for us. When someone helps us in any way, what do we do? We try to repay them for their kindness. Imagine somebody threw themself in front of a car, to save you from getting hit by it. Imagine that, that person didn’t die but was severely injured by getting hit by the car. What would you do? You would probably visit them in the hospital and become friends with them very quickly. You would remember that moment when you were saved from death. You would want to anything to repay that person, in gratitude. That’s because they sacrificed their life for you. Now, Jesus actually died for you! He did the exact same things in those examples I just mentioned. And then He rose. He is alive! We will spend the rest of our lives trying to repay Jesus for what he did. And Jesus doesn’t even ask for much. All He asks is for us to love.
We must remember that we don’t matter only God does. God is the most important we are nothing compared to him and we are nothing without him.
I think that this means that we need to be more like God and be truthful to ourselves and to Him.
i can apply this to life doing the right things in life and following jesus
Its telling us that we need to go to God in our times of need and he will respond.
The road to Heaven is a narrow one. Some will say there are multiple, easier paths to Heaven, but there aren’t. There is only one. That’s why we give things up for lent, so we realize we can live long showers or social media. We also give things up (and start doing spiritual things) so we can grow closer to Jesus, so we can realize he is the one thing we need.
If we take things out of a bookbag then we make more room. In the same way when we give things of this world away and carry our cross we make room for greater things not of this world.
It tells us God will always be here for us. He will help us when we need him.
What I took from this is that we cant live alone we need God and his grace in our life. What I can take from this is that if you can apply Gods grace to your life do it. There is nothing better than Gods grace.
WHat Jesus is saying to me through this passage is that we all will have to suffer, we all will period, but we don’t have to do it alone. God said, there is no greater sacrifice than yourself for another. This is what we need to do. I’m not saying go out and do whatever you think that is, but I’m saying to love one another, get one another to heaven. I think we need to strive for Christ and sacrifice for others.
In this reading, Jesus tells his disciples that the Son of Man will suffer greatly. Although he will be suffering we will suffer too. He says, whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. In death there is life. And in life there is death. We must carry our own crosses to reach Heaven. Of course with grace too.
It was essential for Jesus to be rejected because then he will never die on the cross for are sins. God knew this was going to happen because he planned it to happen.
What I got from today’s Gospel is that Jesus is telling us to follow him. Jesus died on the cross for us because he loves us. During this lenten season we need to give something up to show that we love Jesus and to Thank him For everything he has given me.
Today Jesus is telling us that we can not enter heaven without giving up the world. Now, to us that sounds crazy. Why would we give up the things that we have? Heaven is super far away, and i’ll only die when i’m old. Why should i give up the things on earth that make he happy? Now there are a few things wrong with this. How do you expect to be in school when you are still at home. How do you expect to be in the bathroom when you are in your bedroom. In the same way, how so we expect to be in heaven when we are still in earth. How do we expect to see Jesus, when we are still blinded by sin. And another thing, we don’t know when we will die, so we should always be ready to enter heaven. Read the word, live the word, die by the word. That is how we enter heaven. We need to Read the Gospels, live the Gospels, die by the Gospels. That is the way to enter heaven
Whoever whishes to give up their life will loose it. This part really stuck out to me because it just reallly is inspiring. Especially since lent is here is a reminder that we only hae on chance in life. If we screw it then we screw it up. We can’t just go back in time and fix out mistakes or fix the things that we wanted to do. My point is that even though Jesus died and got rose from the dead doesn’t mean that will happen to us. You have to give your life fully to God to even get that close.
Even though Jesus will be suffering, we will suffer throughout our lives too. We will go through hardships in our lives, just as Jesus went through hardships of carrying the cross. We may not suffer as much as him, but we will suffer, and we can’t avoid that. We’re going to carry our own crosses to Heaven, but also help others.
In this Gospel passage I feel like God is telling me that I need to trust in Him more. We are all cought up on the new latest thing and social media that we are forgeting to pay attention to what really matters. God really wants us to put more trust in Him and to not spend so much time on social media and judging other people. The Gospel passage today says, ““If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” I think it means that we need to start spending more time with God and stop paying attention to other unimportant things. Because at the end of the day, it’s our decision if we want to live an eternal life with God in Heaven, or not.
this can be used in my life by just giving my ego up and also sacrificing more to be with jesus and just not care about what others think and that is my thoughts
The gospel is telling me that if we want God and to follow Him we have to give up all the things that bring us away from Him now. We have to be able to take upon his cross and suffer like He did. But those of us who already do that then they will be saved.
What this gospel is saying to me is that if you want to follow Jesus, that it will be tough. There will be hardships and you will have to take up your cross. It all is the way to go to God.
The Gospsel today is telling me that if we just listen to Jesus and follow in his footsteps he will always be there with us for everything. Jesus will never leave our side and will always help us if we need it. Jesus loves us and we should love him too.
When the subject of my Confirmation came up at my grandparent’s house, my grandpa told me, “Some day you will have to chose: Jesus, or the world.” I think that this is what Jesus is trying to tell me today. You can’t have both. The world may have it’s bright sides, like my mom’s cooking. But if we want to be fully with God and be worthy when Jesus finally comes again, we need to be detached from this world. We need to be ready to let it go. Kind of like how to fill a box with new things, you need to take out the old.
What I am getting from this gospel today is that whoever wishes to give up their lives for Jesus, they will just lose their life. We all suffer but we should know that Jesus is suffering with us. What we suffer is nothing compared to what Jesus had suffered with.
Even though Jesus is suffering he is still with us as we go through lent. These forty days and forty nights people think sad things because they can’t drink soda or can’t eat something. But what we need to be thinking about is God.
Today Jesus said that we were going to suffer if we follow Him. Everyone has to suffer because Adam and Eve sinned in the beginning and that is what makes us human, in a way. But it is good to suffer because then Heaven will be more rewarding. If there is no suffering then our life was perfect and Heaven will be the exact same as Earth.
I can apply this to my life by following the Gospel and Following Jesus’ ways
Jesus suffered and died for our sins and we should be more thankful for that ansd understand what he did for us
Today the Gospel is telling me that in whatever I do I must do it for God. If I did something just because I want is and I am being selfish then I will not be doing good. Whenever God says “For whoever wishes to save his life, will lose it” He doesnt mean that you will die it means that you will grow farther away from God and become more selfish. When God also says “For whoever loses his life for my sake will save it”. Once again this does not mean that if you de for God then you will come back to life. This means that if you give up anything like in lent, or maybe even your life in some occations, you will grow closer to God and that is one of the best things you could possibly do.
What I am getting from this gospel today is that whoever wants to save Jesus’ life, they will just lose their life. What I am also getting from today is that we all are suffering but we should know that our sufferings is nothing compared to what Jesus has suffered for us and because of His love.
Today i think the Gospel is saying that we may think that God is not with us at some point or that we do not argee with what his plans are f or us,but God knows what is right and what is best for us. We have to believe in him and know everything we do wether its bad or good, theres always a reasoning behind that. God knew we were gonna do and expected it. He will NOT give anything to us we can’t handle.
In today’s Gospel the line that stuck out to me was “What profit is there for one to gain the whole world yet lose or forfeit himself?” this is telling me that we need to stop holding onto earthly things and start enjoying the people we are with, and the gifts the GOD has given us. It was kinda a ‘Godsedence’ that I am reading a book called ‘tuesdays with Morrie’ which is about an old man named Morrie that is sharing the things he had wished he’d known throught his life to a boy named Mitch, before he dies, this is really cool becuase he has been telling Mitch, ‘let go, you have to be ready to die at any time in order to live.” which is also what the Gospel today is telling us about , power and money only last so long and will not bring happiness, so let go.
Today Jesus, is telling us to pick up our crosses. There are many diffrent crosses that a person can have. But no matter how big or how small they are, we still need the strenghth to put up with them. Jesus himself is the answer because He gives us the grace to hellp carry them. Although Jesus can’t take away our cross, He is with us as we carry ours.
What I took oout of todays Gospel was that if we want to be with God we must sacrifice. It goes with us going into lent but he is saying for ever. We must give ourselfs up to God forever.
Jesus wants us to take up our crosses and suffer with him. He says that anyone who wants to save himself will die and that whoever wants to die for me will live. It doesn’t make sense at first glance. When you think about it, if you give up your faith so that you can live, you have died spitually. When you don’t give up the faith and stay with Jesus and suffer, you live on forever spirtually. All Jesus wants is for us to suffer with him, but we have to first take up our crosses.
This gospel says to me that we have to make sacrifices if we want to live for Jesus, and when we have trouble giving it up for Him, because it will be hard, we have to remember His great sacrifice for us. The sacrifice Jesus made for us is forever going to be above anything any of us could do for Him. We cannot repay Him, but that isn’t what He asks of us. He just asks that we allow ourselves to belong to Him. He will love us forever even after all of the bad we do to Him, and continue to do to Him day after day.
Today God told us that he died for our sins. And if we God we will not suffer as much. And when we die we go into enteral life.
I think that God is trying to tell me that you have to give up to recieve, because he says this in the Gospel “but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it”. I think that means that you have to be willing to give up something in your life to recieve more or God’s Love and Grace. This relates to my life during Lent when we give up something very important of our life.
What i got from the scripture today, is that Jesus makes sacrifices for us, and to live a holy life we need to give stuff up too.
