Today Paul and Jesus teach us how important Scripture is.  When know it is important, but how important.  Paul says, “Scripture confined all things under the power of sin,
that through faith in Jesus Christ
the promise might be given to those who believe.” Gal 3:22

“While Jesus was speaking,
a woman from the crowd called out and said to him,
“Blessed is the womb that carried you
and the breasts at which you nursed.”
He replied, “Rather, blessed are those
who hear the word of God and observe it.”  Lk 11:27-28

Paul tells us that Scripture is the revealed teachings of Christ-Word made Flesh, so the revealed Word of the Father.  The gift of Faith is born in the Scriptures.  The power to believe.  This is a great gift because it takes complete trust and confidence in someone, God.  Mary shows complete trust in God at a very young age by saying yes at the Annunciation, Totus Tuus (Totally Yours).  This leads to the Gospel today.  The woman said blessed is the womb that carried you, and Jesus says not blessed (means happy) are those who hear the word of God and observe it.  Two words stick out hear and observe.  To hear and observe means to listen.  We hear sounds or words, but when we listen we hear the word and then live it.  Read the Scriptures and ask God to give you the courage to live it!
