I CAME SO THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE LIFE AND HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY.” JN 10:1-10

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Jesus said:
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever does not enter a sheepfold through the gate
but climbs over elsewhere is a thief and a robber.
But whoever enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.
The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice,
as he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
When he has driven out all his own,
he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him,
because they recognize his voice.
But they will not follow a stranger;
they will run away from him,
because they do not recognize the voice of strangers.”
Although Jesus used this figure of speech,
they did not realize what he was trying to tell them.

So Jesus said again, “Amen, amen, I say to you,
I am the gate for the sheep.
All who came before me are thieves and robbers,
but the sheep did not listen to them.
I am the gate.
Whoever enters through me will be saved,
and will come in and go out and find pasture.
A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy;
I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” JN 10:1-10

”I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved.” God calls each one of us by name for He is the Good Shepherd. Our Creator who knows and loves us more than we know and love ourselves and desires nothing more than for us to be home with Him in heaven is madly in love with His creation. Sit with that for a while in prayer, especially when you are having a hard time loving yourself. Surrender totally and completely to the One who is Love!!!! Love is not forced, so He gave us free will to choose. Freedom exists for the sake of love (St. Pope JP II). Since we have to have a free will for love to exist this allows evil in the world.

God is love and for love to exist He had to give us a free will. We have to freely choose love. We have to freely choose God by responding to HIs love. He also gave us His only Son to show how much He loves us. Jesus Christ is the gate and if we choose to enter through Him we will be saved. We must be baptized “in the water and the Spirit”. In baptism, we die and rise with Christ. We are called to evangelize and tell every nation this Good News. Repent and be saved. Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Christ through the Gate (our heavenly home, the hearts greatest longing).

Today’s challenge: Thank Jesus for sacrificing Himself for the good of all mankind. Pray for our priests today. Thank a priest or invite them over for supper.
