“I CANNOT DO ANYTHING ON MY OWN; I JUDGE AS I HEAR, AND MY JUDGMENT IS JUST,BECAUSE I DO NOT SEEK MY OWN WILL BUT THE WILL OF THE ONE WHO SENT ME.” JN 5:17-30
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus answered the Jews:
“My Father is at work until now, so I am at work.”
For this reason they tried all the more to kill him,
because he not only broke the sabbath
but he also called God his own father, making himself equal to God.
Jesus answered and said to them,
“Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own,
but only what he sees the Father doing;
for what he does, the Son will do also.
For the Father loves the Son
and shows him everything that he himself does,
and he will show him greater works than these,
so that you may be amazed.
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives life,
so also does the Son give life to whomever he wishes.
Nor does the Father judge anyone,
but he has given all judgment to the Son,
so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father.
Whoever does not honor the Son
does not honor the Father who sent him.
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever hears my word
and believes in the one who sent me
has eternal life and will not come to condemnation,
but has passed from death to life.
Amen, amen, I say to you, the hour is coming and is now here
when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God,
and those who hear will live.
For just as the Father has life in himself,
so also he gave to the Son the possession of life in himself.
And he gave him power to exercise judgment,
because he is the Son of Man.
Do not be amazed at this,
because the hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs
will hear his voice and will come out,
those who have done good deeds
to the resurrection of life,
but those who have done wicked deeds
to the resurrection of condemnation.
“I cannot do anything on my own;
I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just,
because I do not seek my own will
but the will of the one who sent me.” JN 5:17-30
It is brave indeed for One to say He is One with the Father. Who has walked the earth and said, “I am one with the heavenly Father”? Yep, only Jesus. Many have worshiped the One true God, but no one dare claim to be equal. Once again, Jesus is either a radical liar or equal to the Father. I smell Truth of a Trinity here.
Jesus talks about judgment today. I like to change my mind sometimes. Some people change their mind a lot. I like to make decisions and some people have a hard time making decisions. With Jesus, there is something we must make up our mind on and stick to it and something we cannot change our mind on, the fact that we will die, be judged, and go to heaven or hell for all of eternity(that is a long time by the way).
In the Rich Man and Lazarus parable, Jesus warns us that the after life is eternal states that cannot be changed. We must cherish every second we have on earth to make the right decisions and do the right things. We will die. We will be judged. ”For just as the Father has life in himself, so also he gave to the Son the possession of life in himself. And he gave him power to exercise judgment, because he is the Son of Man.”
In your heart, have you really made the decision to allow Jesus to completely transform your life? Me either. It is time to make that decision, we do not get second chances after we die and death is immanent. Most importantly, there is nothing more that God wants but to have His cherished creation come back to Him. He loves you more than you love yourself. He wants you to be a saint more than you want it yourself, to be with Him for all eternity. He wants you to know His Will. SO LET HIM LOVE YOU!
Today’s challenge: Reflect on the 4 final things, death, judgment, heaven, hell. Freedom exists for the sake of love, because love can’t be forced. Therefore, God gave us free will, an amazing spiritual power. This is a great gift, but also one we can condemn ourselves with. Use it wisely. Give yourself to Jesus totally and completely and allow Him to love you, His greatest desire.
Be a servant, become a saint!

We should believe that Jesus is the Son of God. God sent His only Son to die for us on the cross.
there wre scard of jesus so they killd him and and some people blevd him but the cood not save him and so jesas was killd and re ros
What reached out to me was, “because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me.” What this means to me is that Jesus came to us with a mission. We need to listen to what he taught us and to stay strong in our faith.
I think this scripture is saying that the son Fallows the fathers lead in all ways his holy life and normal life, so if the father does something not right then the son will think that it is acceptable.
“I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me.” This part stuck out to me because we are always looking for selfe pleasure when we should be looking to please God and our nieghbors. If we want eternal life we have to thow away all our bad habits and start doing things that God wants us to do. God always has our backs so we should do what He wants of us.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own,but only what he sees the Father doing; for what he does, the Son will do also. For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything that he himself does, and he will show him greater works than these, so that you may be amazed.” People are mad at Jesus for saying he is the son of God because that would make him equal to his Father God. He tries to explain to them by saying I am only doing the will of my Father who guided him to help with greater works. He is once again telling them God guided him to save us all on that cross.
Jesus says in Scripture that He is the Son of God and we must believe in Him if we want eternal life. He says the Son only does what He sees the Father do. Jesus is doing the will of His Father God.
God is above all. He is merciful, kind, and loving. We are called to imitate God in all that we say and do. By showing love to one another and following the commandments we can truly show the Christian way to those around us in the little things that we do. We reflect God’s love by holding the door open for someone with their hands full or by saying thank you to the lunch lady. These small things can be big to someone else.
We don’t have the power to change some things. We can’t do everything alone, and that’s why Jesus came to preach and show us that not being able to do something is okay, we just have to follow our God and the examples Jesus shows us so that we can make it to Heaven and have eternal life with God. No one can do everything alone, and just like following the example your parents and those around you show, you should follow the example Jesus shows.
´´Do not be amazed at this, because the hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and will come out, those who have done good deeds to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked deeds to the resurrection of condemnation.¨ This stuck out to me a lot. What it means to me is that Jesus is always watching us weather we like it or not. He sees when we are bad, but he will remember the good deeds too. He is always with us whether we want him to be or not, he will never leave us. With that being said, always come to Him and ask for help, he never turns away the poor in spirit. We should all practice coming to him during this Lent.
“I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just.” What I think Jesus is telling me is that whatever we do he sees and if it’s bad it will be judged against us on judgement day. Everything we do Jesus will see and I think a lot of what the world is doing right now is hurting Jesus There are too many bad things that are becoming normal in our society. We need to not follow what everyone else is doing but instead follow Jesus.
We as christians believe in heaven, hell, God, and Satan. We believe that by being faithful to God and trusting in him can get us to heaven. Not everyone likes to trust others though. Some people are hesitant to fully put your life in God’s hand. God can save us and heal all our ailments, we just have to trust.
In todays reading “Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own” stuck out to me because it kind of shows how jesus relied and was one with God even though he was human. It shows his truly divine part of him. Although he says this a lot in the readings he really well explains it and he is making known what he knows so people know hes nothing with God.
Jesus answered the Jews: “My Father is at work until now, so I am at work.” For this reason they tried all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath but he also called God his own father, making himself equal to God.” Its still crazy to me that we tried to hurt Jesus because He was telling the truth. This reminds me of in Blaze we would say, “The truth is the truth, even if no one believes. And a lie is a lie even if everyone believes.” That’s all i can think about. Jesus stuck to the truth even though no one believed.
In this Gospel, Jesus tells us to do the will of the Father. We cannot do anything without God being here with us. We should put all of our faith in God because he is what keeps us alive. He will raise us up and make us closer to Him. When we start to believe in God, He will start to do amazing things for us.
In this scripture Jesus is telling us that he is going to raise the people from the waiting place where everyone has died that is good and he is going to raise them up to heaven. He also is very just and rightful and will only do the will of the father and be obedient to him.
A phrase that stuck out to me was “I cannot do anything on my own I judge as I hear and my judgment is just because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me.” What this phrase means to me is that people back then they would judge on appearance and that Jesus he would not judge people he would help them with whatever they needed.
“My Father is at work until now, so I am at work.”
For this reason they tried all the more to kill him,
because he not only broke the sabbath
but he also called God his own father, making himself equal to God.
I think that this is interesting because god meant spiritual work, not real work, and the still persecuted him for it.
If we want to be with God we need to accept him into our lives and really follow him and not just go to church because we have to pray because we have to, but spend that time truly with him. Jesus cannot make us follow him its a choice we all have and just need to answer with our hearts and faith and do we truly believe.
We should always be thinking about God in everything we do. God is our father and he wants to lead us through the right path (eternal life in heaven with him). We should love God more than anyone of anything.
I think that it’s saying that Jesus is telling us to do the will of the father. And that we must believe in him if we want to have eternal life.
Jesus is talking about how the Father sent Him and how He respects His Father. We need to do the same thing. We need to love God and our neighbor like we love ourselves, like the commandment says. Jesus says that His judgement is just because it is the judgement of His Father. We need to have the same judgement as God does. Which is the right judgement. “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever hears my word
and believes in the one who sent me
has eternal life and will not come to condemnation,
but has passed from death to life.”
Jesus loves us and he does not judge us. We always need to be more like Jesus.
My favorite part of the scripture was “In your heart, have you really made the decision to allow Jesus to completely transform your life? Me either. It is time to make that decision, we do not get second chances after we die and death is immanent.” Its crazy even as a Catholic we still don’t let Christ take full of us and we ARE CATHOLIC its unbelievable what God has done for us no matter how much we love and believe we still sin. HE RESURRECTED after we killed him its crazy.
Instead of focusing on doing whatever we want on earth that makes us happy. (YOLO) We need to focus on the consequences after we die that will last forever. Do we want to live in eternal suffering, or eternal happiness. The only way to get eternal hppiness is to let God in us and let Him love us.
“My Father is at work until now, so I am at work.” For this reason they tried all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath but he also called God his own father, making himself equal to God.” in these words, Jesus says to them that he is equal to the father (God). but the jews did not believe him. so either he is lying about being the son of God or he is. let us follow the son of man because that is what we are all called to do.
This tells us to do the will of the Father, because if we don’t,we wouldn’t be able to accomplish anything,or get through anything.God is the one that will raise us up to him so he can teach us.
At our death we want our souls to be as clean as possible we do not know when our death will be so that means we can’t sin and just think its okay because of confession we have to live our life as if it was the last hour we live and do good deeds so when it comes time and you get split to heaven porgatory and hell you will be ready and have a clean soul for heaven to be with the Father for the rest of entirety.
We should always be ready for the second coming no matter if we are in church, school, the pool, on a vacation, or really anytime we should always be ready, because once we go up and we see all the things that we did we will be glad that we went to confession every week. Overall just be a good person, even if no one is looking or if thousands of people are looking, if you don’t want to go to confession or if you do want to go to confession. Always try to do the right thing.
the son does as the father says and the father allows him to do it. he gives him anything like life in him so that he can help us do the good works of God that he wants us to do. And in the time of judgement Jesus the son will judge us .
Today’s Gospel is telling us straight forward that Jesus is the Son of the Father. He says straight forward “My Father is at work until now, so I am at work”. He tells us that he is able to judge and do whatever the Father does.
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life and will not come to condemnation, but has passed from death to life
Jesus tells us that death is not the end but is the beginning. Whoever belives in God the father and follows his will, will have eternal life. Ask God what he wants you to do.
I think God is telling us to follow in his footsteps, and that we should always be thinking about him in all that we do. God wants us to be led to the right path, but it is our choice whether we do or don’t. We should love God more than anyone.
I think God is telling us to follow in his footsteps, and that we should always be thinking about him in all that we do. God wants us to be led to the right path, but it is our choice whether we do or don’t. We should love God more than anyone else.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own,
but only what he sees the Father doing”. This part of the scripture shows that we need good role models around us to help form our conscience, and God the Father is a prime example of a role model.
what the child see him parents do the child will try to do it to
What reached out to me was, “because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me.” What this means to me is that Jesus came to us with a mission. We need to listen to what he taught us and to stay strong in our faith.
Jesus loves us and does not judge us. We always havae him when you have no one he is still here he will never leave you. He will not judge us he has seen us through our darkest times and still stays with us.
god is with us always. we should remember him with anything we do and go out and do gods work and spread the word.
Be in the state of mind. Your mind is what controls your actions, why sin when you can look up to God? Why back down on something that should be stopped? You must follow the will of The Father and the Son will bless you for they both show mercy and love to all.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own,
but only what he sees the Father doing;
for what he does, the Son will do also.
I think the scripture is trying to teach us to listen to God and be obedient to him. Jesus did what God wanted him to do so we should follow his example and listen to God.
We should follow God’s example because his example will lead us to holiness and heaven. Whatever we do can either help us or hurt us and his example will never hurt us. He will judge us when we die and he will do so justly but if we follow his example we will be rewarded with eternal life by his side.
It is time to make that decision and We must cherish every second we have on earth to make the right decisions and do the right things. we do not get anymore chances so we should always do the right thing and God loves us.
What God is trying to say is that we should look at God as a role model, a father figure, and our Savior. If we do that then God will look at us with respect, loyalty, and love. We should always look up to God and remind ourselves who he is and why he is our Savior.
What stuck out to me was that Most importantly, there is nothing more that God wants but to have His cherished creation come back to Him. He loves you more than you love yourself. He wants you to be a saint more than you want it yourself, to be with Him for all eternity. He wants you to know His Will. SO LET HIM LOVE YOU! This stuck out to me because sometimes i feel like a failure like a did everything wrong and just ruin everything like i feel like i mess everything up to the point where i feel like God wont forgive me and will not love me any longer but God will always love you no matter how many mistakes you make you and I both need to remember that God loves us all we are loved and we must love back the way he loves us.
In the scripture Jesus tells us to do the will of the Father, and that We can’t do anything without God being with us. We should put our faith in God because He is what keeps us alive. When we start to believe in God, He will start to do great things for us.
Jesus is explaining to us today that He is one with the Father and the Trinity
Since we have learned that Jesus doesn’t fully judge us, than why do we judge people without even knowing them. Jesus loves us and always tells us to love our neighbor but we go and judge them instead of love them. We need to love each other instead of judging.
In this passage it says that “Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him,” which I think means that if we do not love or honor 1 person of the trinity we don’t honor any of them.
We must love God and Jesus just as They love us. We should also love each other and not judge one another.
What stuck out to me was when Jesus said “I cannot do anything on my own; I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me.” This is telling us that Jesus did not do whatever he wanted or do his own thing, He did exactly what God had planned for Him. He knew that God had a plan for Him so He just did as God said, even when he was about to die on the cross. He never disobeyed God even when times were tough, he just stayed obedient.
I think the scripture is telling me that God is one with the trinity. he says God is his Father and he is the Son. Jesus talks about how he does the Fathers will and does what the Father does. Jesus also talks about eternity. Life after death. he was we will be judged, sent to heaven, or purgatory, or we will perish in hell forever. there is no changing where you end up. Jesus says this because he said he follows the Fathers will. Jesus is basically saying if we follow Gods will like Jesus did we will spend time forever in heaven with God. That is the goal. to be with God are Heavenly Father in heaven forever.
We must use the time we have on earth to make the right choices and do good things. The time we spend on earth is tiny compared to the time we have in the afterlife (it is eternity). We will die and be judged. 99.999999999999999% (you get the point) of human beings have died(that’s also only if Mary didn’t die when she was assumed). We do not get a second chance after we die (for then everyone would be in heaven since they would know how much it’s worth). God wants you to be with Him and he loves you. We need to accept this love.
Jesus loves everyone he will always love us and he wants what’s best for us Jesus created everyone for a purpose.
I think this scripture is about how Jesus proves that he is the son of God and is apart of God. Jesus explains that if you condemn him you also condemn the father which has created you. We are all children of God and so hurting another person we are also hurting God.
in the story it says that a son can only do what his father teaches him. Jesus lead the way so we can fallow in his footsteps and preach for him. we need to lead others to do what is right and lead them to do as we do and lead them right and not down a path of sin and self destruction. do as god did and lead.
God is our role model in life. We should look up to him for everything. We shouldn’t judge others, or make fun of them.
This is where Jesus foreshadows to us that He is the Son of God. It also foreshadows that the Son will be sacrificed for humanity. Just like Jesus had to suffer on the cross, our judgement day will eventually come. We never know when, but it will happen. It is important to repent to God now and show gratefulness and love to him rather than suffer in Hell later.
It is saying that Jesus is the son of God. If we want to live eternal life with him in Heaven we must believe and follow him. Every ones goal is to get to Heaven and that is what God wants for us. But we have to follow the path that he has designed for us and go to him with our needs and we will get to Heaven and eternal life with him.
Today’s gospel is telling me that God sees everything. We say we are doing something in secret, but in reality we are fully exposed. And on judgment day, you will be exposed by God.
Jesus tells us that after we die, we will be judged by Him. We need to look at Him as our role model and be like Him so that when the day of judgement comes, we will get to heaven and have eternal life with Him. We should follow His example and look up to Him and always do what is right.
God created all things so God is the father of all things he is the creator and inspiration for all living things. God loves all his creation and never forgets or neglects anything he has made. we were made in Gods own image and likeness which is why we have importance to him.
We must believe in Jesus so that we may believe in the Father. When we pray we go through the motions but that’s not what it’s about. It’s about being with God and believing. If we don’t believe in the Son then we don’t believe in the Father.
“I cannot do anything on my own;
I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just,
because I do not seek my own will
but the will of the one who sent me.”
Jesus proves to us that He is not blaspheming, but he is doing what God the Father tells him to do. He shows us that he would be nothing without God, and so are we. We should give oursleves totally to God to be truly free.
On the sabbath you aren’t supposed to do any work. Jesus did work on the sabbath and for this the Jews thought He should be killed because He is a sinner. Jesus also said that God was His Father and the Jews thought that this was absurd. God worked for seven days to make the entire world, and Galaxy. When Jesus works on a certain day he gets shamed, and this causes him to get killed.
“I cannot do anything on my own.” This stood out to me because we all are helped with things by God and are family/friends. God helps everyone. When you’re sad He is there for you. He will never leave you and He will stay by your side. God gives us tough things to do because He knows we can handle them but we always will need God’s help with. He will help you as you should help your neighbor.
As you can see here it says Jesus was talking about judgement. Judgment is a very important thing that comes to life, and its so big that it´s the thing that is going to decide if you go to heaven or hell. We need to take judgment into consideration and realize the true meaning of it.
what the scripture is telling me is that jesus follows the will of the father as we should do and follow him. jesus openly compared himself to the Father and said “Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; for what he does, the Son will do also. For the Father loves the Son” what he means is that whatever jesus was doing was what God was doing.
Do not be amazed at this,
because the hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs
will hear his voice and will come out,
those who have done good deeds
to the resurrection of life,
but those who have done wicked deeds
to the resurrection of condemnation. Jesus is coming back and are sins are still here. He has gave us everything so we need to thank Him. We all have sins but they can be forgiven. Trust God.
This scripture said the hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and will come out, those who have done good deeds to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked deeds to the resurrection of condemnation. This really stuck out to me because it tells us about the time when the gates of heaven will open. It also said “My Father is at work until now, so I am at work.” we have to work to get to heaven. If you are not spreading the word then how will you get to heaven.
We will be judged when we die. And Christ is in everyone. So when we disrespect others, we disrespect Christ. And I don’t think any of us want to do that.
“For just as the Father raises the dead and gives life” In the new testament, Jesus raised people from the dead. Every time we sin and go to confession he raises us from the dead. We die in sin, but are brought back to life through him in confession.
This scripture is all about honoring your father. Yes, we may not be able to raise the dead, but we should still do our fathers will. This does not only apply to God, but our own fathers as well. We also should get ready because God entrusted Jesus to save us.
“For just as the Father raises the dead and gives life, so also does the Son give life to whomever he wishes.” I feel like today’s scripture is saying that God has the power. Sometimes in life we think we are always right but I think we need to take a break and just listen, Listen to what He has for us and we will find great joy.
God is all loving, merciful, and never failing. We all may doubt something in life like our friends, family, and relationships. In life we should never doubt the power of God. Why would we doubt someone who died for us. Personally if I think about dying for someone else that would seem awful! Jesus is the most holy, clean, and loving gift that we can ever receive.
“For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything that he himself does, and he will show him greater works than these, so that you may be amazed.” I think we all get confused about why God sent Jesus to die on the cross if He loves Him so much. God knew that Jesus can handle it and that Jesus would do anything to save His people and what God asks of Him. I think we need to also listen to Jesus and do what He asks of us.
This Scripture is talking about how he is like on of us he said in the last paragraph that “I cannot do anything on my own; I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me.” which when Jesus was sent down from heaven to earth it says that he can´t do anything on his own and that he hears judgement but he will also get judged and that he does not seek his own but the one who who sent him will. Jesus isn´t any different from us he is so similar to us even though he is a God.
In this scripture Jesus tries to take God as His role model and in that I think we need to take Jesus and God as a role model. Not only in praying but helping out the environment or the poor that could really use that extra hand. Jesus went out even when people were going to kill Him and He saved people, why can’t we do that, anything is possible when you have God on your side.
I think the Scripture is saying we need the will of God. We would not be here if it wasn’t for God. God has given us everything we have. God has given us every single privilege we have. I think the Scripture is also saying we can’t do anything on our own. We need God.
“Nor does the Father judge anyone.” In today’s world everyone judges everyone we are always comparing each other and always wanting to be someone else that we are not. When will humans learn to love themselves and realize everyone is perfect just the way they are. If we always want to be someone else we are just wasting our time because we can’t change our looks or personality to be someone.
Today’s scripture talks about honoring both God and Jesus. Jesus is the son of God, therefore if you were treating Jesus badly you were quite literally treating God badly.”Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.”
“Making Himself equal to God.” Jesus equates Himself with the Father, so either He IS God, or He’s lying to all of mankind. Which do you believe? That’s really Jesus’ message. Which do YOU believe? Do you believe I have truly come to set you free? Live your life accordingly.
This scripture is telling me that a son or daughter can’t do a lot of stuff on their own.
The Gospel today was talking about the Son of God and all what He has done for us and that He is watching what we do. We need to think about what Jesus has done for us and be thankful that He made us and all the things we have in this world. I also heard that Jesus, The Son of God, is the only one that can heal us and help us and can do things that we can’t.
It is saying that we should be like our Father and learn to love others like He loves us. We should listen to Him and learn to tell others about Him.
I think that the scripture is telling us to trust in God and Jesus fully. God sent Jesus knowing that He would be the slaughtered lamb. God sent Jesus to save us all. Jesus wants to help us get to heaven but first we need to listen to Him and believe what He says. The people who killed Him and condemned Him did not listen to Him or the Father.
This phrase stuck out to me. “because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me.” John was clever for writing this, as it is one of the biggest truths of the Catholic Church. Even though we have free will, our main goal is to go to heaven, and we do that by following God’s will. Obviously, the “One who sent me” is God, and you can tell that Jesus is saying this. We just do the will of God.
This fear from the Jews turned to anger, and perhaps a bit of jealousy towards Jesus. They were angry at Him, because He claimed that God was his father, which they did not doubt, but they disliked. Jesus showed that He has little free will. He does as his father tells him. He doesn’t judge, God does.
We can not get to heaven without believing in God. We have to believe not only in Jesus but also The Father. Jesus gives us everything we need to believe. Listen to the Lord and he will help you. The biggest thing is to trust in the Lord.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own.” This stuck out to me because we need God. We wouldn’t be alive without him and we can’t thank him enough for putting us on this earth.
We should always be thinking about God in everything we do in our daily lives. God is our father and he wants to lead us through the right path (eternal life in heaven with him) to where we can be with him for ever. We should love God more than anyone.
I think God is telling us we have no power without him. We can only move and do things because He wills it to be done. If God stopped thinking of us we would cease to exist.
The Romans were scared of Jesus so they killed Him. We are God fearing and killed him with our sins.
“shows him everything that he himself does” This is showing us why God gave us the bible, to do things like Jesus and follow in his footsteps, so he can lead us to heaven.
We can’t do anything without Jesus. Without God we are hopeless. God will always be good and everything good. when we judge other people that not our jobs we should only judge ourselves and make sure we are doing the right thing before we check anyone else. It’s God’s job to judge us It’s not ours.
“Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.” we killed God, we killed the almighty God. Yet he loves unconditionally. he completely forgived us for killing him. we need to ignore our ego and act more like God. we need to remember that we are just as important as everyone else on this planet.
Who taught you to walk? Your parents. Who taught you how to talk? The person taking care of you. Who told you about Jesus? A person who wants you to get to heaven. Just like all of these things we wouldn’t have known how to do them if someone wasn’t there. We need Jesus to help us get through the sloppy mess we call life. You can’t do everything on your own.
In this scripture reflection we need to make the decision to let Jesus into our hearts and respect him like God the Father.Because have we really made the decision to let Jesus transform our lives. So if we want to make it to eternal happiness with Jesus and God the Father we must let Jesus into our hearts an transform us into a holy person.
Today the scripture said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing.” This tells me that Jesus and God are not two separate people but one person. God loves his son Jesus and Jesus loved us so much to die on the cross for us. Jesus saw what God was doing out of love for us and came down to earth to show us this love.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life and will not come to condemnation, but has passed from death to life.” Death is not the end. When we die we will be judged and God will decide where we go for the rest of eternity. We should not be scared of death for death is a new beginning. We must repent and follow God to make our time in Heaven greater, for there are consiquences to your actions.
There is something we must make up our mind on and stick to it and something we cannot change our mind on, the fact that we will die, be judged, and go to heaven or hell for all of eternity. We have to face the lion we will die and he will judge us but not on everything he just looks at the end to see what you did. God will always forgive you for everything but if he forgives you before you die then you are going to Heaven but I think He loves everyone so it is hard to go to Hell, it just depends how you live the life God gave you.
In the scripture when Jesus said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; for what he does, the Son will do also.” This stuck out to me because we think that Jesus did everything on Earth with his own power when really God the Father was telling Jesus what to do. Jesus sees His Father doing the things that He does on Earth so Jesus does what His Father does. We need to respect our parents and follow in their footsteps. Just like Jesus did with His Heavenly Father we should do the same. We need to listen to God and do what He tells us to.
“For just as the Father has life in Himself,” I think the whole gospel was pretty straightforward, except for this part. This little tiny mention of nine words really stuck out to me, because I have been thinking about this a lot. The Father keeps all of us in existence, just by loving us. But that means that something else keeps Him in existence, right? NO! He keeps Himself existing, Because He is all powerful! Begotten, not made. Begotten means to bring about. Jesus was brought about, not made like us. He was always in existence with our Father and the Holy Spirit.
What stuck out to me was this line: Amen, amen, I say to you, the hour is coming and is now here when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God,and those who hear will live. This line stuck out to me because to me it’s saying you have to be prepared because the hour is coming when you will be judged by God.
“I cannot do anything on my own;
I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just,
because I do not seek my own will
but the will of the one who sent me.
This is saying thy will be done not my will be done. This stuck out to me because most of the time we do what we want to do instead of what the Father wants us to do. This is called sin.
Fr. Mike Schmitz says that sin is knowing what you are supposed to do and ignoring it and doing what you want to do.
I agree with this. Every time we sin we ignore what God wants us to do and instead say no I want to go and do this.
“He also called God his own father, making himself equal to God”. Jesus IS equal to God. God loves us so much that He made Himself human and came down as an infant to save us.
We have one life. We can have a great life and follow the Word of God, imitate Jesus, and spread the word. Or we could do the opposite. We can’t go to Heaven if we don’t BELIEVE in God or listen to Him.
I feel like I am always trying to do the same things over and over again to get back to God, which isn´t the worst thing but not the best thing either. I´ve been feeling like that ever since I got old enough to understand things. But Mr. Goertz´s religion class has changed me. For the better. Mr. Goertz has so many different techniques, and his teaching helps me better understand that God wants you to ~be you and love him in your own way~. And now I realize that what I really need to do for God is be the best person and child of God I can be.
We do not get second chances after we die and death is immanent. Most importantly, there is nothing more that God wants but to have His cherished creation come back to Him. He loves you more than you love yourself.
In this one, it says to not judge God. Judging God is a serious sin and we need to avoid it at all costs. We also need to not abuse Him like treating Him as a slave. Doing these 2 things will get us closer to Him.
We must learn to face the realities of the four most important things. Death, leaving your physical body, and standing before the judgment of God. Judgment is the moment that determines whether you enter heaven or become permanently separated from God. Heaven, the place where you no longer suffer and are forever united with God. The place where you have achieved complete happiness compared to the things that have made you miserable in life. Hell, the permanent separation from God and dwelling on the miseries of your life. Death and judgment may not be a choice, but heaven and hell are a choice. Heaven is a desire, and it is a desire we have to work at.
