“IF YOU UNDERSTAND THIS, BLESSED ARE YOU IF YOU DO IT.” JN 13:16-20
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
When Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet, he said to them:
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master
nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.
If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.
I am not speaking of all of you.
I know those whom I have chosen.
But so that the Scripture might be fulfilled,
The one who ate my food has raised his heel against me.
From now on I am telling you before it happens,
so that when it happens you may believe that I AM.
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send
receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.” JN 13:16-20
Jesus the God Man is washing His Apostles’ feet. The Creator of all that is who created out of nothing. The One who is everywhere all of the time. The One who thinks about you constantly, loves you infinitely and delights in you. He is washing His Apostles’ feet and then says, “no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him”. God the Son loves the Father so much, He washes the Apostles feet, institutes the Eucharist to stay hidden behind bread and wine for us until He returns, then goes through an unbearable Passion, and dies for us all in doing the Father’s will so we could be back with the Father in heaven. ”If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.”
Do we understand that God created us and loves us more than we love ourselves? Do we understand what true love is? It is not of this world it comes from above. Have we lost the Passion of Christ in Lent? Have we already forgotten what He did for us? Have we made a fast or sacrifice since Lent? We must be reminded of God’s great love for us. Jesus emptied Himself and became a slave for the Father and all humanity to reconcile us back to the Father. We must empty ourselves, put on Christ, and go out into the world and love by serving others and not being selfish.
Amazing, Jesus who is God washes the Apostles’ feet! Master’s rarely even asked their slaves to do this. God loves us so much and brings His grace and mercy to the greatest sinners through His Son. In simpler terms, Jesus died so we could inherit the Kingdom, but here on earth He simply wants to be best friends with us and eat with us at table, listen and talk to us in prayer, and give us joy and peace now! Let Him come to you and go to Him in every moment of everyday.
Today’s challenge: Wash someone’s feet who is the least among you. Who is the outcast in your class? Who is different than everyone else? Who is going through the most in their family? Go wash their feet, a.k.a., comfort them, talk to them, invite them to something.

that jesus e washor feet and sed I AM and gave up our sinsand gave us a clen sool ang gave us na place after we die
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.” Honestly this statement right here is so powerful, its saying that everyone deserves respect and that we are all important, He’s telling the Apostles that it doesn’t matter if i’m you master that doesn’t mean i can’t help you.
It’s so easy to ignore others because we are so worried about ourselves. It’s easy to ignore the outcasts, it’s easy to ignore those who are struggling. It’s easy because we don’t care, and when we don’t care, everything is easy. When we don’t care we don’t have to work for anything. We don’t have to put effort into anything because we don’t care. If we want to get to heaven, we have to care. We have to work for it. We have to care about others. God is giving us the choice to choose whether we want to care or not, it’s up to us to make that right decision.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master.¨ This sentence stuck out to me a lot today. The main message I took from this is that I am the slave and Jesus is the master. We are not greater than Jesus, we never will be, we never can be, no matter how hard we work or try. Jesus is and should be put above everyone and everything. Jesus should be the very center of everyones life. We have to stop chosing what we want and chose Jesus, for the greater glory/good.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.” Jesus is saying that no one is greater than God and we must respect and honor him on Earth if we wish to be with him for eternity in heaven.
“I AM” is capitalized to emphasize it. It is the truth, Jesus is God. We should believe this and be disciples.
In this scripture Jesus washes his disciples feet to show that the master should do things for his followers as well as the followers do things for Jesus.
Jesus says, “No slave is greater than his master.” Nobody where we come from we are all created equal and all have value. God loves us all equally. He gives all of us the same chance to go to Heaven. it is what we do with our free will that we choose if we want to spend forever with God or without Him. We need to be humble and not think we are better than anyone else.
In today’s scripture this stuck out to me “whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.” It stuck out to me because when we receive communion we aren’t receiving bread we are receiving Jesus’s body and flesh. This part of the scripture is not about that but, it reminds me of it.
Jesus loves us so much that He even did something that not even slaves would do because they thought it was too low for even them, He washed the disciples feet. Jesus loves us so much that He purifies us, gives us His body and blood so that we may have eternal life, and even died for all of our sins.
Jesus came as the perfect example of love. To teach us what to do to live a truly happy life. He teaches us that we need to give of ourselves to others by putting them before one’s self. By reading the scriptures and listening to God’s words in your life, we might be able to replicate God’s love and share it with those around us in our day to day lives.
IN todays reading God the son washes the apostles feet and then later goes through the passion and suffers for us. I see this as Jesus showing us how we should treat others. Because Jesus died for us and he didnt have to her had a choice but he sacrificed for us
Jesus is telling us that all of us our equal it doesn’t matter if someone is king or a slave we both need to have a good relationship with God and pray and go to mass or else we won’t get to heaven and spend eternal life with God.
A phrase that stuck out to me was “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.” I like this phrase because it means that when we receive the Eucharist through the priest that we receive God. God fills us not our Earthly things God is the only one.
In this Gospel, Jesus tells us that He is God. He tells us to believe in Him because He was sent by God. Jesus also talks about the Holy Spirit. He says, “whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.” This means that if we receive the Holy Spirit, then we receive Jesus and God the Father.
There was one line from Mr. Goertz’s summary that stuck out to me, “He died so we could inherit the Kingdom.” That really summarizes the Passion of Christ. I know he died for us and to save us but that line really shifted something in my brain. He died to open the Gates of Heaven and let all the holy people in. Once we go in we meet our father since we’re all children of God. When the time comes and we all ascend, we inherit Heaven, the Kingdom of God.
Today’s scripture we learn Jesus washed the feet of his apostles which is the most slave and lowest slaves do. My favorite part of scripture is “Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master
nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.
It shows that you should follow him if you believe or be afraid of me and go away from the truth.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.” everyone is equal to another. or they should be. no one is greater than another. no one is different to one another. we are as much the same as we are different.
no slave is greater than his master
Jesus says this but I dont think that anyone has ever really thought about it. we act as if slavery is such a thing of the past, but I just think that we really should listen to this part.
“I AM” was capitalized because he wants us to know that he is God. He washes peoples feet because he cares about people and isn’t just thinking about himself. He wants us to be clean and follow him.
In the scripture it says that Jesus washed all of the disciples feet, and then he said to them “Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him”.
Do we understand that God created us and loves us more than we love ourselves? Do we understand what true love is?
These lines are an important everyday phrase we could use, like God is our creator he sent us down to portray a role in this world, we have an assignment, and it’s what God had in mind when he sent us down.
Jesus said that He is God. when Moses asked God what is name was he said I AM what I AM. Jesus saying that He is I AM means that he says he is God. At the time anyone who said that would’ve been stoned because the Jews thought that it was blasphemy. so Jesus really did mean that he was God.
No matter who you are in life we all are we all are children of God. We all deserve respect and love in our lives but we also need to give that to others. Jesus washed the apostles feet even though he was the son of God because he cares for everyone no matter who you are and what you do or what you look like.
The words I AM are capitalized to show that Jesus in the way, the God, the light. Jesus is showing that he is the almighty God. That he is here to save and help guide us to heaven.
i think that this is telling me that he chose us to share his word and help others get to hevon be a role model for others to look apon so share the word and be happy!
No one is greater then our master he can give us anything cause he is all knowing and all powerful. Nothing is out of reach of God with him anything is possible. We all need a good relationship with God because none of us our better than each other we all need Him.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master.¨This sentence really spoke to me.This sentence kind of resembles us 7th and 8th graders,no eighth grader is better then any other eighth grader,no seventh grader is better than any seventh grader, and the eight graders aren’t any better than the seventh graders. No one is better then anyone because we are all made in the image of God.Gods image is all of us being equal and loving each other, helping each other. But everyone has an ego, everyone wants to be popular, cool, hot blah blah blah everyone wants to be the best,i mean some people go so far as to wanting to be God themselves, and the truth is.Its pathetic, its pathetic to try and be something your not,be yourself because we are all equal no matter what ANYONE says.
In the scripture it says that Jesus washed all of the disciples feet, and then he said to them “Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him”. I AM is capitalized to show that God is the path to life. And no matter what we are all children of God.
“When Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet, he said to them: “Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.” Even though Jesus was greater than his disciples he still treated them with kindness and was nice to them. I think Jesus is trying to show us God is greater than others not us and to think that we are all equal because no one is greater than someone else we were all made in the likeness of Christ.
We are all equal. Nobody is above another human being. Only God is above us. When Jesus was on earth he was fully human and fully spirit. He was human though and while he is above us he still treated everybody with the same respect. He did not overuse his power. Jesus loves us and treats us all with the same respect. Why can’t we, we follow his example. Jesus leads by example.
Jesus says “no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him”. This proves that no one is better than the other and that everyone should be treated the same whether your smart or dumb or tall or short you should be treated well.
From this scripture I learned that we are all dirty with sin. We need to be baptized, we need God’s saving grace to get back to our Father. He cares about us so much that He gave up His only son so that some day we might get to go back and spend the rest of our time with Him.
nobody is greater than God. Remember when Luci thought he could be better than Jesus? He is now ruler of hell. If you think god is a lesser being then you don’t know power. Jesus, God, whoever holds all the power. Time and life. He has everything wrapped around his pinky like a string of hair you can never get off your hand. Power is divine and not only in thrones.
This it telling us that even if were are a King, we still must serve others as we would want to be treated.
Jesus says that no one is better than anyone else and we are all equal in his eyes. He also says that he is I AM, he is the one and only son of our God and that he is chosen by the Father to set us free from our sins.
In the scripture today, Jesus tells us to believe in Him because He was sent by God. Jesus talks about the Holy Spirit “whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.” which means that when we receive the Holy Spirit, we receive Jesus.
When i was reading what stuck out to me was when Jesus said “Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master, nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.” This part stuck out to me because Jesus is telling us that no one is more important than another. Jesus wants us to all be kind to one another. It does not matter who you are or what you have done you are still just as important as everyone around you.
This Gospel today is just what people struggle with, and that is power. Now a days people automatically think they are better than someone I a way, but Jesus tells us today that if you think you are better than everyone else that what does that do for you? Jesus wants us to treat each other equally.
I think today´s scripture reflection is meant to tell us that we have to try to understand God´s plan for us, even when its difficult. Of course we never will be able to fully understand it, but we should at least try to listen to what God is trying to tell us about ourselves and Him. Sometimes we may get upset when things don´t go our way in our lives and prayer lives, so its good to find a way to calm ourselves down and learn how to deal with it. Building a relationship with God will take a lot of time and patience, but at least we can be sure that somehow we will all get there.
We are all equal. No one on Earth is greater than anyone else on Earth. We need to realize that, and care for one another like we would siblings, or parents.
In today scripture Jesus is washing the disciples feet and preaching to them. He is saying that no one is greater than their boss, but they should still do what they are asked.
We should know that we are not greater than God. No one is or ever will be. We should know that we are under his command and follow him.
In the gospel today Jesus says amen i say to you no slave is greater than his master. I think this means that we should never disrespect the master which is Jesus. He is ten million times better than us he is perfect. So we should never have the courage to go against or say horrible things against God.
“so that when it happens you may believe that I AM.” This phrase stuck out to me because God is saying I Am. He is the one and only son of God and he is our savior. Nobody else can compare to God and what He has done for His creation.
“If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it. I am not speaking of all of you. I know those whom I have chosen.”
God has chosen who gets to go to Heaven and who gets to go to Hell. We are chosen to be with God in Heaven and live a peaceful life in Heaven. But some of us are evil and mean. We judge say bad things and start drama. But you can change and be a chosen one.
Jesus is telling us that he is God. We need to believe that he is God. Not many of the people he was telling believed him and he was charged with blasphemy. But what he was saying is true. He truly is the son of God. He is God and we need to believe that he is.
We are all children of God and we have to appreciate everyone for who they are. We are not higher than anyone on earth so we have no right to make fun of someone or make someone feel that they don’t belong here.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master.” This stood out to me because a lot of people today in our world are poor and homeless. I think this is saying that in today’s society that no matter what we are all equal no matter if you’re rich or poor. We are all created by the same person. He created us to have a purpose in life.
God knows everything that has happened and that will happen. He has a plan for everyone we just have to wait for what God is calling us to do.
what the scripture is telling me is that no one is greater than God and this further states when He says, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master,” and the people’s feet He is washing are chosen to fulfill the testament, even though He is washing their feet He is still greater than all of them.
What stuck out to me was Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me. This stuck out to me because Jesus is telling us how important the eucharist is. It is the most important part of mass.
God wants us to see that we are all Equuleus in his eyes. It does not matter weather you are rich in material wealth he is interested in your spiritual wealth. those who follow him are rich ones, and those who do not have material goods will come to rule the world. follow GOd and you will enter parricide with him.
Jesus is foreshadowing His betrayal by Judas. He says “Those who have eaten my food have turned their heel against me”. He is referring to the betrayal of the people who sentenced Him to death, even though he performed many good deeds. Like curing the blind or healing the sick. Jesus knows that He has to die and that everyone will take Him for granted, but He still loves us anyway and wants us to get to Heaven.
I think this scripture is about Jesus warning his disciples that his time is almost here, and that one of them will betray him. H also does this to show that he is I AM. He is fulfilling the scripture.
In the gospel today Jesus talks about how God in heaven is above him but we on earth need to listen to Jesus because he was sent by the father and knows what’s best for us. he loves us and wants us to do the fathers will, not so we have to live life doing whatever we are told and have no fun, but because he wants us to live fulfilling lives and make it to heaven.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.” The Gospel today is saying that no one is greater than God. This quote from the Bible hints that God is the “master” and we are the “slaves”.
Jesus is foreshadowing His betrayal by Judas. He says “Those who have eaten my food have turned their heel against me”. He is referring to the betrayal of the people who sentenced Him to death.
“No slave is greater than his master” Even though we aren’t God’s slaves, He will still always be greater than us. We sometimes think that we matter more than anybody else, but we are wrong. Jesus saved all of us, and He is God. He is greater than us, and we need to recognize that.
Jesus keeps revealing himself to us. He keeps showing us that he is alive and that he is risen. He wants us to believe and to have true faith in him.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.” We shall not put ourselves before God. We shouldn’t put anything before God. Sometimes we don’t think we are putting our phones before Jesus, but you are because when you get on your phone instead of praying or going to Mass, you are.
In this Scripture I feel like Jesus is telling us that we wouldn’t be able to do anything except through Him. We need to remember this through our hard times and we need to respect Him and other people that have helped us throughout the years.
I think this scripture has 2 main messages. No one is greater than the other; all humans are equal. I also think the other message is that Jesus is God. We must remember that. He knows that His time is almost here and that Jesus will betray Him, but He still cares for the other apostles and reminds them that they will be rewarded in heaven.
It is saying that we should not put anything before God and we should make sure that we respect Him. We need to believe that there is nothing greater than God.
We are all created equal. This really stuck out to me because sometimes in our world and generation we love to compare each other and never think we are good enough. Sometimes that is why we sin because we are so insecure and just want to fit in instead of just being ourselves. Whoever loves you for you truly loves you and is not just using you.
Something I thought was interesting and that stuck out to me was this: “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send
receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.” In this piece of Scripture, I think Jesus is trying to tell us that He can bring us to God, and only He can do it. It also reminds me of how He always says, “No one comes to the Father, except through Me” When we receive the Eucharist, we receive Jesus. We receive God. Also, I think this is expressing that Jesus and God are one, and they are equal.
This Scripture is talking about how God is the one who sent us which makes us the messengers which we are the ones who are supposed to spread the word of God to everyone out there
In the scripture today I think it is telling me that Jesus chose us and He knew all about us be for we were born. He chose us for a reason He chose everyone for a reason and gave everyone something different to do that their good at.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.” I think that this scripture reflection shows that we are not God. We are his children. I feel like sometimes in today’s modern world we think that we are so much better than others when we are all equal. None of us are perfect and we will never be perfect. Rather, we will always be enough.
No one is greater than God. God is great and all powerful. God saved us and He loves us. He loves us so much He sent His only son to die on a cross.
We cannot ans will not ever be better than the Father. He created us to be perfect, but because we sinned we are not perfect. A person that is not perfect can never be better than some one that is perfect. God loves us no matter where we are on the totem poll.
I think the scripture is saying that no one person is greater than the other. I think Jesus is also referring to earlier scripture such as the Burning Bush. In the Burning Bush, “I AM” was said for practically the first time. They also said Yahweh for the first time as well. I also think the scripture is saying we must look back and reflect on past teaching as well because they will help us.
“…you may believe that I AM.” We have to believe in Jesus. He alone leads us to the Father. We have to believe that Jesus will care and nourish us, and ultimately, lead us to the Father in the eternal kingdom. That is difficult, but we must strive to believe the good news and live it out in our daily lives. We must use the charisms given to us by God to serve those around us in all we do. Let us become the Disciples of Christ we were meant to be.
This is where the big stuff happens. For the past while Jesus has been hinting at the fact that He is God. Now, He just straight up states the fact that He is God.
Today God told me that we are all equals and that we should not have a certain group of people to do the dirty things like building and all the manual labor in the world. Jesus washed his apostles feet which was a dirty task because they all wore sandals and the Jerusalem.
In this he is saying that all people are equal and no one is greater than another person He is saying that all people are created equal.
“I AM” was capitalized because he wants us to know that he is God and he is the one. He washes peoples feet because he cares about us and how we need to clean our soul and isn’t just thinking about himself. He wants us to follow him and be one within him.
“If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.” For me this means that we should try to understand the scripure more and spend mre time praying to God and reading scripture.
In this scripture reflection Jesus says no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him while he is washing his apostles feet this basically shows how the apostles were suppose to act as they were his messenger
In this scripture Jesus is literally telling us that He is God! Jesus does the job of a servant when He washes the disciples feet. Jesus the creator of the world ,the son of God. If the King of Kings can do this we can love and serve each other too.
we are all equal it Jesus who is greater than everyone. He treated us so well and we repay him so badly. Some people think that there better than everyone else but there not Jesus. we are the sheep were he can guide us and he is the Shepard, our leader.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.” We are all important and valuable in God’s eyes. We need to celebrate our differences and learn to love ourselves.
Jesus created us and he loves us more than we love ourselves, and we cant forget what Jesus did for us.
The things that stuck out to me is, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him. This stuck out to me because Jesus is saying that everybody is equal. Nobody is better than another person. He wants us all to love one another and be kind to everyone.
“No slave is greater than his master.” Jesus says that the last will be first and the first will be last, but now he tells us that no one is better than anyone. We must accept this and grow in humility, for if we believe that we are better than someone, because that will surely lead us down the dark side. We must love God so much that our position does not matter to us, only God should matter. And other people of course.
God makes it known to us that we are all equal. And that we need to pay attention to the past, so we can make sense of the present.
What stuck out was the part where it says I am. This stuck out to me because Jesus is finally saying that he is God and he is here so now they should believe in him. WE should also believe in him just like the disciples.
Jesus the God Man is washing His Apostles’ feet. The Creator of all that is who created out of nothing. We didn’t expect that the Creator would be acting in the way of a servant but He is like a servant to us we do nothing and yet we just go and ask to be forgiven and He does when we don’t do anything for Him. We should give back to God for He gave us everything, even life and we treat Him like we don’t care that He died for us. God is everything and we need Him for everything and yet we can’t comprehend that is astonishing. We need and love Him and He loves us is all we need.
”If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.” this stuck out to me because its kinda like how God has a plan for us and we need to trust in him and follow him. If we do so, we will get to Heaven. God needs us to trust in him so he can get us to where he is.
Heaven is a place for the truly holy and Jesus is teaching us how to be holy so we can get to Heaven.
the thing that tuck out to me was how much love god has and how all he wants is the best for us and all we have to do is accept his love and spread the gossple. jesus so loved the world that he died for are sins so that we can live for eternity in his debt. God loves dyou
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send
receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. I think everyone has a big whole in their heart for God, we just don’t know it. I’ve tried to fill that whole with procrastinating: watching Tv, youtube, tiktok, ect… instead of trying to pray, But really, when you think about it, God is the only answer to everything you want! You just need to recieve Him.
When Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet, he said to them: “Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him. I think this means when someone receives me they will receive the one who sent me.
What reached out to me was when Jesus said, ““Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.” What this means to me is that it is easy to put our own personal wants before our religion but we can’t let that happen. If we have the wrong values in our lives we won’t end up in a good place.
when he washed the feet of the disiples they felt guilty for the lord is washing their feet and they are washing his.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it. I am not speaking of all of you. I know those whom I have chosen. But so that the Scripture might be fulfilled, The one who ate my food has raised his heel against me. From now on I am telling you before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe that I AM. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.” Jesus what his disciples to now that their are the great messengers.
