go to www.usccb.org and read the readings for today

In today’s readings, Paul reminds us (and gives great proof the early Church had Mass and received the Eucharist) of the importance of the Last Supper and the words of consecration.

(1 Cor 11:26b) Proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes again.

The responsorial psalm is from Paul as well.  We must not forget the purpose of the Mass.

Last, we choose from the two readings of Mary’s sorrowful heart.  Simeon tells Mary her Son will be responsible for the rise and fall of many and her heart will be pierced.  The other reading is Mary, in all her sorrow, stands at the foot of the Cross wanting to take the place of her Son, but knowing God’s will must be done for us to live forever.

When Jesus speaks from the Cross He is not just talking to Mary and John but all humanity.  “Behold your mother and behold your son” means Mary is our Mother and we must bring her into our homes and lives.

Today, consecrate yourself to Mary and set a goal to honor her more this year, devote yourself to her more by saying a rosary more often and bring her into your home with a statue or picture.
