Listen to today’s readings at Mass.

Today Jesus teaches us the difference between love and doing God’s Will and doing whatever we want. A person can immediately know when they are being selfish when they say, “what’s in it for me, what do I get in return, I did my share everyone else needs to do theirs.” A person knows they are loving and doing God’s Will when they are unselfish, go the extra mile without complaining, sharing their gifts, picking up for the greater good, expecting nothing in return. True love, God’s love and generosity are a self-gift, permanent or never ending, a free choice based on knowledge, and life-giving. God cannot be outdone in love and generosity! He deserves our best along with our neighbor! Last, St. Paul reminds us in the first reading, “be eager to do what is good”! 1Ti 2:11-14
