“FOR THIS PURPOSE I HAVE COME.” MK 1:29-39
Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
On leaving the synagogue
Jesus entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John.
Simon’s mother-in-law lay sick with a fever.
They immediately told him about her.
He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up.
Then the fever left her and she waited on them.
When it was evening, after sunset,
they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons.
The whole town was gathered at the door.
He cured many who were sick with various diseases,
and he drove out many demons,
not permitting them to speak because they knew him.
Rising very early before dawn,
he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed.
Simon and those who were with him pursued him
and on finding him said, “Everyone is looking for you.”
He told them, “Let us go on to the nearby villages
that I may preach there also.
For this purpose have I come.”
So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons
throughout the whole of Galilee. Mk 1:29-39
If there is one thing I have learned in trying to establish a good prayer life, it is how distracted we are from our purpose. God made us for a purpose and with a mission. Today, Jesus says, “Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come.” God wants us to know His will for our lives. He wants us to know our purpose.
How do we find out God’s will for our lives? One of the best answers I have found to that question is prayer. It is important that we practice prayer to grow in a relationship with our Creator, Savior, and the Holy Spirit. Prayer is a necessity to enter into the Kingdom of God. Prayer must become a habit. The best answer I have found in doing God’s will is in the book “He Leadeth Me” by Fr. Walter J. Ciszek, S.J. While in a POW camp in Russia, he finds the true meaning of doing God’s will.
He shares, “We had to learn to look at our daily lives, at everything that crossed our path with the eyes of God; learning to see his estimate of things, places, and above all people, recognizing that he had a goal and a purpose in bringing us into contact with these things and these people, and striving always to do that will–his will–every hour of every day in the situations in which he had placed us.
For what other purpose had we been created? For what other reason had he so arranged it that we should be here, now, this hour, among these people? To what other end had he ordained our being here, if not to see his will in these situations and to strive to do always what he wanted, the way he wanted it, as he would have done it, for his sake, that he might have the fruit and the glory?”
“The simple soul who each day makes a morning offering of “all the prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day”–and who then acts upon it by accepting unquestionably and responding lovingly to all the situations of the day as truly sent by God–has perceived with an almost childlike faith the profound truth about the will of God.”
“The temptation is to overlook these things as God’s will. The temptation is to look beyond these things, precisely because they are so constant, so petty, so humdrum and routine, and seek to discover instead some other and nobler “will of God” in the abstract that better fits our notion of what his will should be. Just as it is the temptation faced by everyone who suddenly discovers that life is not what he expected it to be.
The challenge lies in learning to accept this truth and act upon it, every moment of every day. The trouble is that like all great truths it seems too simple. It bears the hallmark of all divine truths, simplicity, and yet it is precisely because it seems so simple that we are prone to overlook it or ignore it in our daily lives. Like every divine truth , moreover, it is far from simple of execution. Its very simplicity renders it at once almost impossible not just of credibility but of human achievement, for our poor human nature is too easily distracted.”
Simple doesn’t mean easy! If Jesus took time to go to a deserted place early before dawn to talk to His Father, we too are called to imitate Jesus in prayer. Prayer is not easy but training ourselves in it establishes a meaningful relationship with God, the heart’s greatest desire. Prayer is where we wrestle with God about every part of life we struggle with and need answers. We are seeking the Truth, ultimately God himself. We have a spirit that needs to be nourished and illuminates our bodies’ actions to do the will of God in our every day lives. Seek to do God’s will in the simple acts of charity each day with those He put around you.
Today’s challenge: Take time to make a deserted place where you can pray in silence in your home at the same time every day to create a habit of prayer. “Do each act throughout the day with great love.” St. Therese of Lisieux
Be a servant, become a saint!
#Christian YOLO
Suggested ways to pray:
1. On your knees in front of a crucifix (sounds simple but when is the last time you have been caught praying in front of your crucifix on your knees)
2. Rise with the words of the Our Father as your first thoughts
3. Personal Prayer-Talk to God like you are texting a friend
4. Silence with the Scriptures-Write reflections down, the Holy Spirit is fully alive in you ready to tell you what Christ wants you to know in each moment of your life, say Come, Holy Spirit before you begin to read
5. Adoration-find a spiritual book to read, God speaks loud in Adoration bring a pen and notebook
6. Rosary-Devotion to Mary is essential, a daily rosary and Marian consecration have been the greatest tools for my battle with sin/Satan and drawing closer to Christ
7. Read a book on the Eucharist before you go to Mass or while at Mass
8. Watch Pope Francis General Audience so you know what Christ on earth in the person of the Pope is saying to you.
9. Stations of the Cross
10. Liturgy of the Hours-daily if possible
11. Keep a spiritual book in the car, on your nightstand, wherever you sit to relax in the evening
12. Devotion to St. Joseph
13. Silence-not self-reflection, distracted thoughts, but sit in the presence of God and listen
“Everyone is looking for you.” this stuck out to me because when you are a catholic you have to be open to judgment and you cant like it affect the way you pray. If you let the judgment get to you, you wont fully be trusting God to guide you in prayer. We have to ignore the judgement and let it help us grow closer to God in prayer.
“they brought to him all who were ill” if you are dealing with emotional or physical illness you need to bring it to God so he can help you. we don’t do this enough and if we did we would have a better life, and make a better environment.
Today we learn that we need to know when we need God, which is every day we cant live without him hes the reason why we are here. The man came to Jesus possessed by the devil and they were too scared from the power of God.
In todays scripture Simon’s mother-in-law is sick and Jesus walks in and heals her. After this Jesus is taken to all who were ill or possessed. Later Jesus is praying but they take him to the synagogues to preach and drive out demons because they know he is the Messiah and people belive in him they know he can drive out demons so they follow him.
Prayers not easy. It takes time and it’s like in investment of your time and faith in something you cant see. But we know God is real, we know God is the creator of heaven and earth and we know he made each one of us with a purpose. And the least we can do is spend time in prayer with him.
I think in the reading Jesus is telling us to preach and spread his word to others. In the reading it says Jesus went and drove out demons, he also healed those who needed it. I think Jesus is telling us to do that for others. We can’t cast out real demons of course or heal wounds but we can help lead people to him to heal them spiritually and help make other closer to God.
God made each of us for a purpose and has a different and unique plan for each of us. In order to be able to follow the will of god and the plan he has in store for us is Pray. God is the example of what we should stride to be and to be the person he made us to be. To try and do each of those we need to drop all the things we put before him all of our sins and follow him and talk to him and everything will fall into place eventually.
We need to pray. I have been taught this all my life and it is so true. We NEED prayer. it is how we communicate with God and how we let him know that we love him too. Prayer is awesome. Think about it you are talking to God and he is all that we need. So we must pray for others and help others to pray so they can also love God.
“We had to learn to look at our daily lives, at everything that crossed our path with the eyes of God.” I feel like this sentence has a lot of meaning to it. If we were to see Gods perspective the whole world would look different, he always see the upside to things rather the down. Everything that do is Gods plan, he has a purpose for us. Like if somethings hard you shouldn’t just give up, why would he give you those dreams, for nothing?
Many times, Jesus performs a miracle and we are so used to it that we completely overlook it. Jesus is doing something that is scientifically PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. This is not something that normally happens! Jesus is doing things no one else on earth can do. He is healing people with no medicine and just by the touch of His hand. It would be crazy for it to happen once but He heal multitudes of people. What would we do if Jesus healed us? Would we thank Him or would we be lie Barabbas and forget what He has done for us. He is hear to heal us but we ignore Him and continue to sin, it is our human nature. We must realize what Jesus is doing for us and not overlook it.
“For this, I have come.” Jesus never lost sight of his true purpose, unlike many of us. How is it that we can go on an absurd diet for a month, yet it’s so much harder for us to pray the same way for a month? When we start something, we usually have a vision, and desired goal. Most times, we lose sight of that goal, lose the excitement, or desire for the end result. But Jesus shows us that we have to see things through to the end. To run the good race, and fight the good fight. If we simply start something, but never finish it, how is that of any use ? If we start the 30 day walk, but drop out at 16, it is no more useful than a half-finished chair! It is good for nothing, unless you have the determination to keep going, to finish the chair, and to see it through!
we have to be able to have God in our lives and be able too give our attention to Jesus because he gives us his grace.
doing what is right isnt always the easiest ting in life we have to be able to strive for trying to get to heaven
He healed people and then were just not sick that is wild they just get up and walk after being bed riddened how is that possible well its possible with the power of God he heals and chances out demons and he made it look so easy so simple.
The passage is saying that we should have more faith.
Jesus is not prideful about his habit of praying. He doesn’t shout from the rooftops saying ” I pray every day!” or anything like that. He gets caught praying by himself in seclusion from the world. He knows that his relationship with our Father is his own, not for everyone else. We need to maintain our own relationship with God, knowing that it is our own. We need to judge our own prayer life before we judge someone else’s.
I think this means we need to trust in God and he will help us. If we follow him we will have grace and help from him. We just need to pray and believe in him.
The scripture said to me that we need to give up our selves to God and live the way of Jesus. This helps me in life because it gives me something to set my mind to and do. We need to be there for people, and believe that God can do anything or make anything happen.
I think what God is telling us here is that when we need him most he is there. He loves us to no end so that is why he always has a purpose to see us.
The devil will try to pull us away from God by technology and toys. Some devices are like the demons and mass is jesus getting rid of the demons. So if we go to mass every day then we wouldn’t have the demons luring us away from God.
What stuck out to me was when he struck out many demons and cured many people of their sickness. That stuck out to me because it shows the power of God put into Jesus. When Jesus did that it shows how powerful God is. Jesus has the ability to cure us like how he cured many people. He can cure us by helping us get closer with The Trinity.
I think God in this scripture is trying to tell us to take extra time off of each day to pray in adoration. Just as He went and prayed in a place to a quite place were nobody could bother.”Rising very early before dawn,
he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed.”
We are very distracted by the wrong things;will–his will–every hour of every day in the situations in which he had placed us. Miracles can happen at any time and any place.God wants us to know His will for our lives. He wants us to know our purpose. We need God in our lives and sometimes we put others and objects in front of God.
What I think about this, is that some poeple only turn to God if they need something. It is crazy how they won’t even pay one little minute to even thank their creator. Only if they are in a bad time, then they will ask God to help them. We need to seriously pay attention to God and listen to what His intentions are for our life. We need to follow through on His plans for our life and truly work towards being a better christian.
Something that I realized was how once one person was healed they all went to Jesus to have him heal the sick and cast out demons. We should all strive to be like the first person who knew Jesus was the Messiah even though the other people didn’t, but they still went to him for help. We need to try to have faith with Jesus even if the people that surround you, or the whole world, doesn’t believe you should still believe. Jesus is coming back soon, so you might as well tell people about him before it’s too late.
Jesus made so much miracles when he walked on earth. Jesus has made so much miracle while he has been in heaven too. Jesus is working in our life right now. We need to start praying everyday. We need to be asking Him what he wants us to do with our lives. When we start praying to him we will start to see our life become much better and start to see that he is working in our life. Today’s scripture told me that God Is working in our everyday life, we just need to start paying attention and praying to see what he is trying to do in our lives.
A thing that stuck out to me today was that all it took for the woman to be healed was Jesus’ touch. This is crazy to me because he didn’t use any oil or ointment or medicine like we do today he just touched her. This is relatable to us because when we receive communion all of our venial sin is washed away. Then when Jesus went to the other places to go and heal other people and preach it was crazy because no one knew about how he saved the woman.
We need to find quiet time to pray. Jesus rose earlier than everybody else so he could go pray alone with nobody bothering him. When Simion found him he said “Everyone is looking for you.” After that Jesus went back out and preached because that is what he came to do. We need to find time to pray and time to tell other people about God.
Jesus wants to preach to everyone. When it said “Everyone is looking for you.”
He told them, “Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come.” This told me that he wants us evan though we don’t deserve him. Jesus wants us all to be healed and follow him and his father. Jesus would do anything toe let the word be known and we should strive to be like him.
The purpose of today’s scripture is to find your purpose which is to love and praise God. You need to find good ways to pray and glorify Christ. You also should try to find a quiet and peaceful place to pray. Praying is a great way to glorify God. We need to talk to God like He is our best friend because He is. He loves us, we need to love Him back.
I think today God is telling us to fully trust His plan for us. We didn’t create ourselves, we didn’t design our life, God did. He truly knows us in and out, good and bad. He knows what we truly think and what we struggle with.So why should we not surrender ourselves to Him?
We don’t need to do something great and amazing so the world views us as a great person, we should start with the small, overlooked things. Truly ask God what His plan for us is.
What stood out to me was that when Jesus healed Simon’s-mother-in-law, he took her hand and helped her up. When he did that she was instantly healed, he also healed a whole crowd of people. That shows the power and healing of God.
Jesus is healing people like he heals our souls in Reconciliation. He also has many people following him that believe just as we need to follow him because we believe.
In this gospel, Simon’s mother-in-law is sick. Jesus grabs her hand and she becomes healed. After sunset, everybody came to be cured, have demons driven out of them, and to hear Jesus preach. After dawn, He traveled to a deserted place and prayed. Simon tells Jesus, “Everybody is looking for you.” Jesus states that they should travel to other villages and heal people, drive out demons, and preach. We should know how distracted we are from God and that he is almighty and good. God created every single person for a purpose, and that is to be with Him in heaven. There are challenges out there, but God is always with you. This is a reason why you should never be distracted and realize who God is.
In the Gospel today Jesus’s apostles bring Him all of the people who are suffering from illnesses, diseases, and from being possessed by demons. I think that we should turn to God for help when we are suffering and ask Him to help us. Jesus also goes into the desert to pray alone. I think we should also take time every day to spend time and be alone with God to pray. Then in the Gospel, Jesus goes to other villages to preach and heal them too. God is everywhere willing to teach and help us to grow closer to Him.
Today Jesus is telling me that He is all powerful. He can heal people with a touch or with His mind. He has a plan for each and every person and knows where they are going to end up. We have to grow a relationship with Him if we want to know His will for us. “Everyone is looking for you.” We can all strive to be Holy and look for Jesus. We can get to know him through prayer. Therefore, spend time with Jesus.
WE NEED TO SEEK JESUS! Jesus shows us in this scripture that he will cast out demons for us, and cure us of deadly diseases. We need to try to look for God more in our lives. He has saved so many people, turn to him and let him help you.
“Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come.” In that sentence God is saying to me that He wants everyone to know his name and to follow His path. He is also saying that we should follow what He tells us to do in our future, so just go with the flow.
The scripture told me that if we give up our life to Jesus then he will help us in life. This helps me because it shows me that I need to set my mind to making my friendship with Jesus better and wanting to go to Heaven. We need people to help us with this so we all can make it to Heaven
Jesus is always going to be there to be with us, and to help us. He will never refuse help to you, you just need to know how to ask for it. He’s always there. Trust in him.
“For this purpose have I come.” This stands out to me, because Jesus knew exactly why he was here, why God sent him to Earth. I like how He wants to help the sick and drive out the demons. And even Jesus himself needed to go out and pray on his own sometimes.
what caught my attention was how quickly she healed. God will always heal us if we allow it. he will never leave us
Jesus is telling us that we need to go and live for him. He will be there waiting in times of need and will never abandon us.
What stuck out to me was how he cured peoples sickness and struck out demons which show how powerful us Jesus is and how much he loves us.
what sticks out to me is that Jesus helped so many people. Jesus wants us to help people and help them in their faith. jesus knows what we are capable of and he wants us to use that power for good. just like Jesus helped hundreds of people he wants us to do the same whether its spiritually or physically.
Jesus wants us to know His will for our lives. He wants us to know our purpose. He also wants us to trust him.
Jesus wants us to know His will for our lives. He wants us to know our purpose. He also wants us to trust him. Every day the devil is trying to pull us away from Jesus but if you trust in God and you are faithful then the devil will not harm you.
I think that God is telling us that he is always there. Even when times get hard we cannot doubt him. Just like the people who were ill or possessed believed, so can we.
The fact that he cured many people of illness and struck out many demons that day is amazing. Nobody can heal anybody by just holding their hand. Only Jesus is able to do that. That is the power of God. God is trying to get us all to Heaven and away from sin and temptations.
what its telling me is that the devil will try to pull us away from what we really need. like God, prayer, mass, and other people. by giving us stuff that we want. we want devices and toys but we dont need them. we need God. And we need to follow the path of God.
“For this purpose i have come” this stands out to me because this is telling us that in any moment that we need Jesus (which is everyday) we will pray to him and he will come or do something for that reason or in the saying for that purpose. this shows us that prayer is powerful and that no matter what he is always listening. he never gave up on us like at Shekinah with an after healing session for miracles. it was so powerful to see God working through the people in prayer and there has been countless miracles then and there. so i am saying that prayer will lead you closer to god and he will listen to us and for that purpose he will come.
“The temptation is to overlook these things as God’s will¨,to me this means that we all ways let the things that we want to do take up the time we have to do the things we need to do, like cleaning are room or praying to God we need to do the things we need to do before the things we want to do!
What stuck out to me was when he struck out many demons and cured many people of their sickness. That stuck out to me because God is trying to tell us how powerful God can be. God is trying to tell us to worship him by him doing these miracles.
I think it means we need to believe in god. he can help us when we need help. all we need to do i pray and believe he is here with us
Prayer is what lays the ground work for every relationship with Christ. Without prayer we can’t know God and we won’t know what his will is for our lives. I struggle with this a lot because part of me doesn’t want to know what he wills for me. What if it’s something I’m not willing to do? Whenever I pray I feel like I’m dodging a bullet and not letting myself fall deeper in love with God because I keep that boundry there. I think we all have our own boundries that keep us from God and I guess we all have to learn to remove those boundries and there’s no better way to do that than through prayer.
He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him. The demons didn’t even think of trying to talk to him. They knew that God was within him. The Holy Spirit protecting him. To me this means that God is capable of anything. To not fear the Lord is within you. I will remember that God is my shield and if I pray to him daily. He will come over me and protect me in any circumstance.
The devil is always going to try and pull us away from God. We need God more than anything. What stuck out to me was when Jesus stuck out the demon and cured the people that were sick. That stuck out to me because it shows how much power God put into Jesus. Jesus has the ability to cure us like how he cured people.
Something that really stood out to me in today’s scripture was ”God made us for a purpose and with a mission”. We have a purpose in life and a mission. Also when he struck out many demons and cured many people of their sickness that shows me how powerful god is and is put into Jesus Christ. Showing that Jesus can heal us and he will always be there for you even if you think you’re alone, you’re not. He is always with you.
I think what the scripture is trying to tell me is that we need to stay focused on God the true person. And always go to mass and try to get away from the temptations we might have. Finally God wants us to try to good things like help people.
Jesus was there for the sick people when they needed it. He didn’t care where they were from or what they believed in. He will be there for you when you need it.
God has never ending love. He wants to be with us, yet we ignore him. He is God in the Flesh. God is telling me I need to go off to quiet places to talk to Him, pray, and learn what He wants for me.
I feel like this passage really talks about taking time and finding our purpose and what he wants us to do. In this day we are so distracted and miss things. We really need to take time to pray beofre its to late and really listen and try and find your purpouse
I think what Jesus is doing in this passage is that we should always pray and listen to him. He has cast out demons and illness and evil doers. Even with his power he still prays to look toward his Father and wants to seek wisdom from Him. We should always listen to Him and let him be our God.
This is telling us that God will take care of us, but we have to stop what we are doing and follow His teaching
We don’t need to be prideful and tell the whole world that we are praying. Rather, we need to find a secluded place to pray and be found praying. We should lead by example while still ‘shouting’ out God’s praise. Part of our purpose is to love God and to teach others to love God.
What stuck out to me was when Jesus said He told them, “Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come.” this stuck out to me because Jesus told them that He did not come down to earth just to do miracles and show off He came down to save us, heal us, and preach to us. Jesus didn’t just want to preach to one village and just get them to Heaven, He wants us all to get to Heaven.
it stuck out to me that Jesus prays alone.Jesus did this because He wants to set an example as He said it best saying ” do not let you right hand know what your left is doing” meaning do not pray because others are around or watching, do not pray to make people look at as some heavily religious guy so you have a good reputation. Pray because you want to talk to God and grow closer to him, so we can reach heaven and be with him forever even after time stops existing.
“Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come.” Jesus came to save everyone. Jesus died for everyone. Jesus loves everyone. Jesus is a great example for us to follow. We should be nice to everyone just like Jesus. We should forgive everyone just like Jesus. We should help everyone Just like Jesus. We as humans need to judge less. We need to be more understanding. We are not perfect, but God still loves us therefore, we must forgive and love others.
I really like today’s challenge. I find it really helpful to go into a quiet room to pray. I feel like if the room is calm it’s easier to talk to God because i feel a stronger connection between Him and me.
God has a plan for every single one of us. We are so distracted by our friends and social life when really the only relationship that matters the most is the relationship you have with God. He loves all of us more than anything in the world. He wants the very best for us and we need to spend more time with God than we do with our phones. Our phone is what mostly distracts all of us from God. We need to listen and follow the path that Jesus built for us individually.
he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him.
Demons are afraid of Jesus and they flee just at his name. God is so powerful because of love. The devil doesn’t understand love. People fear what they don’t understand (Bruce Lee). In hell there is no love, not even for yourself. God’s love is so immersive and wide that in Heaven there is no room for love. I read in a book that said in Heaven, God is the only light, he is the light of the world. That’s why when in the dark, things seem scarier, but God is always there, and his name will drive your fears away.
Though we ignore God everyday he still loves us. We should pray and love him back.
When Jesus is out in the synagogues praying, and casting out demons He is with the people. He is not only experiencing peoples pain and embarrassment but He is also praying with them and for them. When Jesus is praying whether by Himself or in public how does He pray to Himself? That’s the question that keeps sparking in my mind every time I read this. The only answer I can come up with is that He is praying for us. For me. So I can live with Him in Heaven. He prays to HIS Father for us. Even the exact moment in time that Jesus was in the synagogues praying and casting out demons He was praying for me. for us. That’s what stood out to me today.
Only Jesus can heal people by a single touch. We need deep faith to realize that. There’s only one way to grow deeper in faith with God and that’s to pray consistently and make it a habit. If you pray once a month and expect something out of it and nothing happens and you are wondering why, the answers to pray more. You have to put forth the effort to get closer to God. If you don’t do it you won’t get as close as you want to.
Finding our purpose takes a lot of time in this world. We have to go through pain, emotions, prayer, and many other aspects of life to find out what we were meant to do. At times we can misunderstand what God is trying to tell us, but eventually we understand more of His messages. This makes prayer even more important because praying helps lead us toward God so that He can lead us in the right direction.
BY Maddy
Jesus is telling and teaching us that we need to have a relationship with the Father.
One thing that stuck out to me was in Mr. Goretz reflection he said we have to make a deserted place to pray in silence. This stuck out to me because praying in silence is one thing I need to work on and also while I was reading the scripture it felt like Jesus was saying you need a peaceful place to pray to me just like how I was in the temple praying to God.
What I took from this gospel is that the sick people represent us and their sickness represents our sin. We are sick and we need Jesus to help us with our sickness because if we don’t then that sickness kills us (hell), If we accept our medicine (Jesus) then we will get better and not allow that sickness to get to us so we can get to heaven.
Our faith is by the traditional teachings, for example Bishops, Priests, and the Pope all had some teachings from people they looked up to, which is God. He is the one behind everything but not everyone was taught we us Catholics were taught. Other religions rely on different aspects than us like Muslim women have to normally stay pure until Marriage and cover themselves up. Buddhism relies on multiple Gods like Greek Mythology. Everyone has different religions and different ways of learning because traditions were passed down, down to generations worth of learning and understanding. Not everyone has the same faith as you but they still believe in their own Gods and their own traditions just like followers of Jesus.
“He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up.
Then the fever left her and she waited on them.”
God isn’t just a normal person, he isn’t us. He does miracles for us, he would only do that if he loved us. He will never stop loving us even if we do something so evil, he will never stop loving us.
I think God is telling us that everyone needs to pray, even if its only for a small amount of time even just a Hail Mary. I also think he’s telling us that prayer is not always asking for stuff. Sometimes you just have to listen in silence and talk to Him about who he is.
In this scripture reflection I learned that God is curing all of us and that just by being around Him and listening to Him made me feel better, feel loved, and more myself.
“Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come.” God wants us to know His will for our lives. He wants us to know our purpose, he makes it easy and gives us free will with that being said we do not have to follow him it is a choice we make….. we can choose to live out the word and be with jesus forever in heaven or we can do nothing and get nothing in the afterlife.
Jesus went to a deserted place to pray. Jesus didn’t bring all the people who were with him or his apostles. He went alone. It was just him and God. In the same way we need to spend time alone with Jesus. We need to sit in silence and pray and grow our relationship with God. Praying and stuff with other people aren’t mad but sometimes it just needs to be you and God. God is out stronghold, out foundation if we don’t have a strong foundation we will fall over. We need to have a relationship with God if everything will grow of that.
The things that Jesus wants us to do to have eternal life with him in heaven seem very simple, but can be challenging. One of the only reasons that they are challenging is because we are afraid to be judged for being devout and wanting to get to Heaven, but why should we care about the criticism we receive? At the end of the day, you will be with God in Heaven while the people that ridiculed you will be seperated from God, and they will wish that they had listened to you instead of being judgemental. Praying shouldnt be difficult because we receive the great reward of Heaven.
Everybody know that to have a good relationship with God is a good daily prayer habit and reading the bible everyday so that we may see what we have to do in life so we can find are vocation and live with no regret with what we do so we don’t realize that we weren’t supposed to do this that it doesn’t lead us to God and he didn’t want us to go through suffering at some future that wasn’t planned for us
He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. He does this when we push ourselves down when we sin and make our cross heavier by the weight of the sin. Then Jesus will take your cross and help you up then carry it for the rest of the time. We think that it is fine to sin since we will be forgiven even if we do. It isn’t! Jesus saves us when we sin and say we have sinned but then we just add another cross, we put on His shoulders and bear. If we weren’t able to be forgiven I doubt we would even think about sinning again and we would probably stop but we think it is fine when it is not. He may help us up but then we are just shoving Him down. We shouldn’t have to be helped up, we should be right next to Him helping him to carry the cross of everyone else.
Today Jesus goes to dinner after He goes home, He rises early in the morning and goes off to pray to His Father. He spends time in prayer, He is showing us what we should do and what we can do to get closer to God, and to Him. My favorite part of the scripture was this line, “They brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons.
The whole town was gathered at the door.
He cured many who were sick with various diseases,
and he drove out many demons,
not permitting them to speak because they knew him.”
Showing how truly powerful Jesus is.
something that stuck out to me in the scripture today is “for this purpose I have come,” I think this stuck out to me because it’s saying that Jesus never lost sight in his purpose, and that I need to find what my purpose is and what God wants me to do instead of focusing on what I want to do.
He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, this stuck out to me because it helps me to have more faith in Jesus, It helps me to understand just how powerful he is and that he will protect me. It helps me to have more trust in him.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that he put everybody on this earth for a reason. Everybody has felt useless before but Jesus is there to tell us His father made us for a reason. Maybe one persons job is to become a stay at home mom and maybe someone elses job is to be a nurse. If God made everybody’s purpose the same the world would not function. We all have different things to do because we are different from everybody else. We are different and yet we are still all equal.
God made us for a purpose and with a mission. He is calling us to have a relationship with him, and we can’t get distracted and make him our last priority.
When Jesus was praying at the synagogue, when he is praying for us and for everyone. Jesus can also feel pain or be embarrassed at times, just like when he was caring the cross even though he was hurt and embarrassed he still kept going for us because he loves us all and died for our sins. He also prays to his father for us to save us and help us.
how many times has God tried to speak to us but we either choose to listen or not to? God is always trying to speak to us, to take away all our problems and sufferings. but we don’t prepare ourselves to listen. we get distracted, we get lost in our own thoughts. what we need to do to listen to God is free our minds of everything. focus only on God. when our minds are ready to hear His voice, we will hear it. a telephone has two ends, the caller and the reciever. God is on one side calling us to him through prayer and in our day-to-day lives. we are on the other side of the line recieving God’s call. but we can only hear it when our minds our empty and our hearts are focused on Him.
In the Gospel today Jesus was healing and casting out demons He was helping those in need. No doubt were those people sinful. We all are, and yet Jesus still loves us beyond the farthest brink of our imagination. He created an amazing world for us. When you think about other religions, for example the Ancient Greeks their gods couldn’t care less about humans in fact they would punish their own offspring if they didn’t please them. Our God is different, He loves us so much that He gave up His life for us. St. Therese of Lisieux comes to mind when I say this because you can’t give God any earthly goods He can have those whenever or if He wants but the one thing we can give Him is our love back.
Our generation is lazy. we play video games all day and sleep in a lot. Jesus went around and cured hundreds of people. he went to many different towns and preached and healed. I think that that is amazing.
Jesus is telling and teaching us that we need to have a relationship with the Father. He wants us to know our purpose, he makes it easy and gives us free will with that being said we do not have to follow him
i think jesus is saying that your are not alone even if your depressed or have any issues making friends know that he is always with you and he will tell you what to do in your life and to follow his footsteps.
“Humbly submit your will to God” to me this means that you shouldn’t boast about praying instead you should be more humble.
Jesus is telling me that He is all powerful. He can heal people with a touch or with His mind. we need to follow the path of God. That is the power of God. God is trying to get us all to Heaven and away from sin and temptations.
Jesus is healing people like he heals our souls in Reconciliation. When he does that he is giving us another chance to follow him.
Jesus hides in the deserst to hide he is praying. we should hide when we pray, every time we pray we do not need to receive praise
The lord is saying that to help is to help yourself like if you help a neighbor you feel happy that’s how you help yourself. The is with us all curing us of are sins.
Jesus knows everything. Jesus is all powerful and mighty. Jesus was able to cure the ill and ones who were possessed by demons. That stuck out to me.
“Let us go on to the nearby villages
that I may preach there also.
For this purpose have I come.” this stuck oiut to me because wants us to know what our purpose is in life, and how we trust in him.
Jesus healed those people with all kinds of diseases and demons. Jesus will do anything and everything to make us one with him. Jesus is all knowing and powerful. He wants each and every one of us to follow him. He heals us so we can be in paradise with him.
I think the scripture is telling us to go out of our way and spend some time with God everyday because he is always there for us and can always help us with whatever situation we are dealing with.
In this scripture reflection is that we are distracted by lots of thing. God is all powerful and if even demons and the devil know about God and call him God them we should believe that be is real and the devil will always try to get us away from God.
We have to have God in our lives everyday.
God is trying to tell us if we believe in him, we can really witness all of his good works. Other people who don’t believe, they never get to see his good works unless a true miracle happens. We can’t be afraid of God and move away from him, we have to trust him and move closer to him to have that deep and personal relationship.
Jesus is the only person who can drive out demons and cure illnesses with just his hands. Jesus also says “For this i have come” that means to me that Jesus never lost his true direction and what he is meant for. He is our savior and came to earth to save us from many things, illness, troubles, and most importantly, sin.
When we think back at what God did for us and really learn the whole story you see God is really great and his works are immaculate. Curing the sick or casting out demons isn’t just an ordinary thing, if we really think about it, it is one of the greatest things.
i feel this is telling me we need to trust in God and he will help us. If we follow him we will have grace and help from him.and we need to pray to and worship him.AMEN
Jesus wants to heal our should and heal the people of this earth. We should always strive to be like God and to be Christ like so that we can feel a compassion towards God. “For this purpose i have come.” I read. He is coming back someday and for a good purpose.
“We had to learn to look at our daily lives, at everything that crossed our path with the eyes of God”
In today’s scripture God tells us this to show whatever we do and whenever we do it, God will always be here for us and that he will never give up on us. God will love us for every action we do. If we make a bad choice he still loves us and he is there for us and he will try his best for us to be the best person we can be to make it top his kingdom; The Kingdom of Heaven.
God cured a lot of people with different diseases and he drove out many demons out of people. This part struck me because God is not afraid of people who have very dangerous spreading diseases, instead he comes toward them and heals them. When we pray we can find God’s will. “FOR THIS PURPOSE I HAVE COME.” This struck me because God loves us and he always help us.
Jesus taking away someones illness from them is like telling us that Jesus loves us all even if we are sinners. It reminds me of people confessing their sins.
God is calling us to have a relationship with him, and we can’t get distracted and make him our last priority.
Praying every day isn’t exactly easy, sometimes it can get hard to remember and sometimes we just don’t want to. But we should imitate Jesus in prayer, He took time to go to a place and pray even when He knew he was going to die, He’s who our inspiration should be, He is who we should look up to every day.
“Simple doesn’t mean easy!” -Mr.Goertz. This stuck out to me because we may think the simple and easy thing to do is not pray. When God wants us to pray to Him even if it is difficult at first. He wants to get to know us and listen to our prayers. He doesn’t want you to keep it bottled up inside of you. He wants to talk to you and get to know you. He loves you even when you decide not to pray. If you fall away for a while he still wants you to come back to Him. Jesus loves us!
If we want to be with Jesus we need to pray.Prayer is the one thing that can bring us in contact with Jesus and there we can talk to Him.Prayer is not always easy and it is harder if we have to do it everyday but we need to make it a habit because it is the closest way we can talk to Jesus here on earth but also in mass.
The scripture is telling me that we need to spend more time with God/Jesus because he is always here for us. We spend so much time with our friends and video games but we barely spend time with God.
Prayer takes time and practice to get used to the habit. God wants a relationship and prayer can create that, even just taking a few minutes out of your day can make an impact.
The devil will try to pull us away from God by technology and toys. Some devices are like the demons and mass is jesus getting rid of the demons. So if we go to mass every day then we wouldn’t have the demons luring us away from God.
“Then the fever left her and she waited on them.”. God has the power to bring the dead back to life, to turn sickness into health. He has the power to do all of that and much more. He also has the power to destroy the world with a thought. We could all be dead and in hell before we knew what had happened. He loves us so much that he is willing to put up with all of the heretic religions in the world. He chooses not to kill anybody. He instead chooses to save us and bring us to heaven if we lived a good life.
