Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

Jesus went around to all the towns and villages,
teaching in their synagogues,
proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom,
and curing every disease and illness.
At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them
because they were troubled and abandoned,
like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciples,
“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest
to send out laborers for his harvest.”

Then he summoned his Twelve disciples
and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out
and to cure every disease and every illness.

Jesus sent out these Twelve after instructing them thus,
“Go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Cure the sick, raise the dead,
cleanse lepers, drive out demons.
Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.” MT 9:35-10:1,5,6-8

We hear today how big God’s heart really is or at least a glimpse of what He has revealed. ”At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.” Do we realize as baptized people that we could be troubled and abandoned in our life, but since Christ came into the world at Christmas with one mission to die and resurrect to save our souls, we can choose to live each day in this joy? God loves our souls, His Creation, Satan wants to destroy our souls. We are saved by our Creator as a complete gift of Himself. ”Without cost you received; without cost you are to give.” Do we realize that since we have been given life as a free gift from God, we must protect it, take care of it, nurture it, and fight for it? Christ’s death on the cross is the ultimate sacrifice, the sinless and most innocent of us all, took the sinner’s place.

This love and sacrifice is overwhelming to me. What did I do to deserve this? Why is God so good to us? Love is the answer. Doing things for others without asking for anything in return, putting others needs before our own, a self-gift, life giving love that sustains all, not complaining but being thankful, putting your needs before my desires, sacrificing self for the life of another. The funny thing is joy requires sacrifice. Love is the answer. When we sacrifice self, like Jesus did, we receive joy. Joy is better than happiness. Happiness is fleeting. Joy fulfills. God is love and joy.

Today’s challenge: Give yourself up today to help another and experience joy. Learn to be still. Stop talking this Advent and listen.

Be a servant, become a saint!
