“LORD, IF MY BROTHER SINS AGAINST ME, HOW OFTEN MUST I FORGIVE HIM?” MT 18:21-35
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Forgiveness is hard. As I continue to try and fight sin, I realize God’s love and mercy for us is beyond understanding. God continues to forgive us, if we are sorry from our heart, which means we will leave confession with the intent to stop the sin in our life (reconciliation). Pope Francis said, “God never tires of forgiving, we tire of asking for forgiveness”.
We need God’s grace. Jesus is waiting, thirsting for our souls to be reconciled. This was His mission and purpose. If we don’t bring ourselves to Him, the power of the Cross is lost. He is waiting with an ocean of mercy. God’s mercy is bigger than sin. We must never tire of fighting sin and asking for God’s mercy when we fall. Jesus died for us to reconcile us with the Father. This is a long and difficult process which involves fasting, prayer, coming to know God in the Scriptures, desiring holiness and developing a relationship with Him.
Most importantly, we must ask Mary to intercede for us and protect us from evil. We can ask her to wrap us in her mantle every day all day. We can ask St. Joseph to wrap us in his cloak and protect us, too. I am still going back to confession for some of the same sins I have had since I was younger. Other sins, with God’s grace in the Eucharist, Reconciliation, prayer and fasting I have overcome. Forgiveness is hard. God’s mercy is generous and can never be outmatched.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches us if we want this mercy, we too must forgive. Ouch! My pride usually wins when it comes to forgiving or asking for forgiveness. Our homes, schools, and communities would be much better if we forgave more. Forgiveness is hard and we usually need to forgive those closest to us. Fr. Jacques Philippe teaches that we are chained to the person we need to forgive or ask for forgiveness from. The hardest things in life often have the greatest rewards. Today, Jesus reminds us forgiveness is essential to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Today’s challenge: Ask Jesus for the words to say when preparing yourself to forgive or ask for forgiveness. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Don’t plan on it going well sometimes. Often times a person is very upset and hurt. Ask God for His grace to continue open communication and be prepared to say I’m sorry many times. Forgive and ask for forgiveness to prepare your soul for the Kingdom of Heaven. Forgiveness is for-giving! Give it often! Pope Francis, “Say Please, Thank You, and I’m Sorry everyday”. Fr. Kapaun said, “If we fail to forgive, we reject our own faith!” Fr. Kapaun, pray for us!
Be a servant, be a saint today!

Today Jesus tells us that we don’t need to forgive our brother 7 times but 77 times. I don’t think 77 actually means once you forgive them the 77th time we don’t have to anymore I think it means that we should always forgive them. Just like how God will always forgive us we should always forgive others for what they’ve done to us.
Today Jesus teaches us how to forgive. Jesus says that we must not just give a person one or two chances but to always forgive with love from our hearts. When we forgive others we show how we care for them. God will always forgive us so we should forgive others even though it may be difficult. If we hold grudges we aren’t showing forgiveness and to act like Jesus it to forgive.
we must forgive before we receive forgiveness like how Fr. Jarrod said that in order to receive we have to give first. Like if we are kind to someone we should get kindness back. we should always be kind and forgive those who hurt us because we are not perfect and make mistakes
Today’s scripture we learn we need God’s grace and forgiveness. Without it we wouldn’t have a chance in heaven without confession and communion. God gives us these sacraments cause we need a way of receiving God’s grace.
“Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times. This stuck out to me because Jesus is telling us we need to forgive others as many times as it takes. He always forgives us of our sin so why shouldn’t we be able to forgive others. It may be hard to forgive them but it is what God wants us to do. It doesn’t mean that you have to be best friends with them again. It just means that we shouldn’t hold a grudge against them. We should be able to be nice to them and forgive them.
Forgivness is somthing that we should all do. Lots of times it can be difficult but if we want to be forgiven we must forgive those around us. I big part of forgivness is comunication and talking. To truley forgive you need to figure out why something hapened, so it is important to listen to the other person an hear their reasoning and side of the story.
“unless each of you forgives” we always need to forgive, not only to get to heaven, not only for the other person, but for ourselves, the guilt you feel after you hurt someone is horrible. After you forgive that person it’s easier to get on with life, and if they don’t forgive you, that’s their problem. Try to ask for forgiveness.
Forgive others who have sinned against you even though it may be hard to do but it holds many things together and once you learn how to do it your friendships will be strengthened, forgiveness is a powerful thing. God forgave the whole world for their sins each and every day and for the world putting him to death. We can forgive a few people for the small things they have done unto us.
I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.
You need to learn how to forgive people even when they keep doing the same thing over and over and over again because God forgave them and if God can forgive them then you can too. It’s human to make mistakes and when you do you want people to forgive you so you need to forgive others too because that is probably what they want to be forgiven.
No matter how many times we sin, God will always forgive us. But we should also be willing to forgive others who have hurt us as well. We can’t expect God to forgive us and then keep sinning willingly, but we must try to fight that sin and we will fall but He will be there to give us again and again.
This is hard to write a reflection on, because Father’s homily really hit home on all the important parts. Forgiving is not forgetting. You should never forget, but you should forgive. It’s the same as accepting a lost game, or pouting about someone “cheating.” Whether you forget or not, you should always forgive. To forgive is to come to terms with a person for something they did that wronged you. To forget is to cast an event from your memory as though it is worthless. Forgetting is bad, because a memory or interaction with another can be important is understanding their point of view. If we do not understand their point of view, then we will have a very hard time not judging them. To forgive is to allow the pain to wash away. To forget is to burn the memory away, and with it, the unforgiven pain. We have to forgive, because then we will be more open to God’s and others’ love. And in return, we will be able to offer more love back!
“For your name’s sake, O Lord, do not deliver us up forever“ I think this stuck out to me because God gives us to much grace for the things we do and we take advantage of that. We need to be thankful for all God does for us and think before we act.
Jesus is saying that we must Forgive people and we must not be like the corrupt servant who asks for forgiveness and doesn’t show it.
I think this Gospel is telling us to forgive every time. No matter what someone has done to you always forgive them. “Lord if my brothers sin against me, how often my I forgive him?” Forgiveness is hard, but God always forgives us, so we need to always forgive others.
“Be patient with me, and I will pay you back in full.” This reminded me that we all need to be patient. We need to forgive others and they will forgive us.
You should forgive people when they do bad to you. Even if it is hard you should still do it. Jesus did it so we should.
I think you need to follow a simple rule: fool me once shame on me fool me twice shame on you, You should forgive until you feel like they are doing it on purpose.
If we don’t forgive our brothers and sisters, we will not live freely. When we forgive others and what they do to us, we will live happy and at peace with God. It is just wasted energy if we hold grudges. Grudges kill relationships and friendships with others. Nothing good comes from grudges.
Today at mass, Father talked about forgiving. If we can’t forgive, we just need to try to say we are sorry. In the scripture, we see that forgiveness is very difficult. It takes many tries to forgive. Even if we forgive, we still have to go to confession. Remember, God’s mercy is the strongest thing in the existence of the world and that He loves each of us.
god is saying that we sin and ask for forgiveness way too much. We need to think about when we sin and when to ask for forgiveness. god forgives everyone tho, but we cant overuse that.
“God never tires of forgiving, we tire of asking for forgiveness”. That stuck out to me because it’s saying that God is always forgiving but how come we cannot always forgive. A step to loving our neighbors is being able to forgive them. If we cannot forgive our neighbors we cannot love and it hurts God.
Even though forgiving others may be hard we need to forgive but we also need to know that we are also in the wrong sometimes. When we get to Heaven the things people did to us wont matter. We will also have God with us.
Today Jesus is telling us to forgive to be forgiven. If we want forgiveness from God, then we should learn to in turn-forgive others who have wronged us. If we spend our lives trying to be like God then this is one way to do so, be forgiving like he does.
Pope Francis said, “God never tires of forgiving, we tire of asking for forgiveness”.
God is never tired of forgiving us. God will never be tired of us coming back to him and asking for forgiveness.
God is telling us to be thankful for the great love He has for us and gives us every second of every day. If we do not forgive, how can we expect to be forgiven? If we are not loving or forgiving we will be like the first servant, thrown into prison until we pay back our dept, but instead of a physical prison and dept they are spiritual.
We need to forgive people because its the right thing to do.
In today’s Gospel these words stuck out to me “Lord, if my brother sins against me,
how often must I forgive him?” And God said to forgive him 77 times and this tells me that God wants me to forgive all from which our sibling does to me.
Something that got out of this was that we need to forgive. If we don’t forgive than we will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Today Jesus is telling me to forgive as I am forgiven. Whenever we ask for forgiveness from God, He forgives us. Whenever others ask for forgiveness from us , we shall forgive them. No matter how many times they have hurt us we shall forgive them. Therefore, forgive as you are forgiven.
ask for forgiveness we need to do this so that we can love others more
Mercy is hard to give. Everyone should know that. It is hard to give mercy when you feel like you have been wronged. You want justice! But it is Jesus’s job to give justice. Not us. We must be patient and show mercy. Jesus will not grant us mercy if we don’t give it. So let us show mercy to those who ask for or deserve it.
In today’s gospel Jesus is telling us that we must never stop forgiving. Peter asks Jesus how many times must he forgive his brother and Jesus says you should never NOT forgive. Even if someone is making us feel bad, or hurting our feelings, we must still forgive them because it is a sin to hold a grudge.
We need God’s grace. Jesus is waiting, thirsting for our souls to be reconciled. This was His mission and purpose. If we don’t bring ourselves to Him, the power of the Cross is lost. He is waiting with an ocean of mercy. We need him if we don’t have him we will not get to heaven and you will be stuck in purgatory or hell. if You don’t follow God you will become someone that pulls people down into bad things.
Forgiveness is possibly the hardest thing to learn. It is so hard to forgive someone. We have to learn to forgive. God forgives us time and time again.
What I got from the scripture is that even though forgiveness is hard that is the only way you can make it to Heaven. By forgiving others you make it easier and spend less time in purgatory so that is what I got from scripture.
Today’s gospel is about forgiveness but not just about forgiving others but about how we need to ask for forgiveness from the Lord for our sins so we can go to heaven.
In this gospel they talk about a parable in which a king has a servant who has a debt to him the servant begs and the king forgives. Later the servant has a person who sees him a smaller debt he does not forgive the other servant and puts him in a cell. We must be like the king and forgive our enemies.
In today’s gospel I think Jesus is trying to tell me to forgive. We can’t let go of our own pain and suffering if we don’t forgive the person that did it to us. We need to forgive so we can be free and so the other person can be free. I think he is trying to say we need to forgive and move on because that is the most important thing.
Jesus had the power to heal, raise people from the dead, He is Word made Flesh to tell everyone about salvation and eternal life. He died on a cross for these people.
This gospel kind of told me that we can’t be forgiven if we are not willing to forgive. (Like what Father said at mass this morning, “You cannot receive what you are unwilling to give.”) I like that saying because basically it means that if we ask God for forgiveness but we hold a grudge on another person, then we aren’t really in a state to be forgiven. We can’t fully love Jesus with our whole being if we are unable to forgive.
Jesus is trying to tell us we need God’s grace. Jesus is waiting, thirsting for our souls to be reconciled. God will continue to forgive us, if we are sorry from our heart. We all know that forgiveness is hard. But we need to find that place in our heart and let go of what is causing you pain and let it go.
In today’s gospel it says that in order to receive we must forgive others what they have done. When we forgive others we can be holy.
Peter approached Jesus and asked him, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.” This part stuck out to me, because Jesus tells us that we must forgive all of the time, because He forgives us all of the time. Jesus shows us patience and compassion, so shall we show others patience and compassion. It shows our amazement, as Peter was astonished by forgiving his brother’s sins against him 7 times, let alone forgiving him 77 times.
Forgiving is hard but we need to forgive people. We all sin and it will be hard to forgive but it can be easy. We need to remember God forgives us all the time so that means we can forgive someone who does a small or a big thing. Forgiving is a way to get into Heaven. When you are thinking you don’t want to forgive someone just know God forgave them.
What do we do at mass. Confession. But that’s not what we need because confession is a way to forgive our sine, its good but what about forgiving others who have sinned against us. like in the lord’s prayer. forgive us as we forgive those who have sinned against us. All of us carry a cross and that’s our burden. If we can get rid of someone else’s burden, that is a huge favor for God. Then we find ourselves in grace and love with God. What we want is to be with the heavenly father. That’s like our goal and we should reach for that. What we want, it’s what God wants. this is like what we desire as a career but no God has an even bigger desire to be successful in life not physically, only spiritually. That’s the will of the father
not forgiving would be rejecting our own faith. I agree with that 100%, and I think what St. Francis was saying is, we need to ask for forgiveness more often and GOD will never stop forgiving no matter what.
In todays Gospel its saying that we need Gods grace. Jesus is waiting, if we don’t bring ourselves to Him, the power of the Cross is lost. He is waiting with an ocean of mercy. We also need to forgive others! Forgiveness is hard and we usually need to forgive those closest to us.
You need to learn to forgive. Don’t hold onto a grudge because of something that happened awhile ago. Forgive the people who have wronged you and apologize to those you have wronged.
In today’s gospel it says that in order to receive we must forgive others what they have done. When we forgive others we can be holy. When we do this we have a closer connection to God ´ s love.
” Lord is my brother who sins against me how often must I forgive him.” IN this I think that God is trying to tell me that I need to forgive all, people because nobody is perfect and neither am I, so I need to be like Him and forgive everyone who sins against me because I too sin. And I too are forgiven by Him.
“Forgiveness is hard.” The first sentence of this scripture reflection stopped me. I had to reread it a couple times. Forgiveness is hard. that is probably the hardest thing to do. When you forgive someone that is saying that you are wrong. That doesn’t mean the other person did right. They might have also done wrong. Forgiveness is one way to resolve relationship. If you get in an argument with a friend and don’t say sorry. Your friendship will never be the same. If you say sorry to your friend there might be a chance that you and the other person are good friends. Maybe not. That is okay. At least they know you don’t hate them or have a grudge against them. They might not be ready yet to be your friend. You have to give them time to trust you again. Maybe they won’t trust you again but at least they know you don’t hate them.
You must forgive everyone who wrongs you or who you wrong, or you will be punished like the Master punished his servant.
Today’s scripture is about how to forgive. When someone does something hurtful to you, you should forgive him and be nice back. We should always be able to forgive and learn to forgive more. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing and it can be amazing.
We need to forgive, even if it is hard to do. There isn’t even a point in holding onto something, forgive even if someone has wronged you.
Jesus tells us how to forgive in today’s scripture. In order for us to want to be forgiven we must learn to say I’m sorry or I messed up, God has soooo many things he could not forgive us for but he does anyways so we have no right to point someone out for their mistakes and sins because we all do that.
This passage is telling me that we need to forgive no matter ehow much they hurt you or how badly they have done you wrong. Forgiveness is key in life
Jesus wants us to forgive. Many of us have been through some hard times and I am sure there will be more of them but we can’t keep that in our heart. I have had some hard days and not letting go of them will make you insecure and not trust people but if you forgive them that burden, that pain you have been carrying since that will be lifted. So give all your hard days to Jesus. Let him take the burden because He loves you that much.
We all have done bad things and first we should recognize this fact and then ask for forgiveness. Fr. Kapaun says “If we fail to forgive we are rejecting our own faith.” This is so true because Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. To forgive our sins. That was God’s will and Jesus willingly followed so we could be forgiven.
“Be patient with me, and I will pay you back in full.” The Lord is very patient and we must wait and trust him. He has a reason for everything so we need to be patient and trust him. We must follow in Jesus’s example and be patient with those around us. We should also be patient when asking God for help.
Today’s gospel is about forgiveness. Jesus tells us to not forgive only seven times but seventy-seven times. Because we need to forgive to go to heaven. God will always forgive us no matter what we do, so we should forgive others like God does to us.
Forgiveness is such a hard thing to do. We want revenge, we want them to feel the pain we did. But what we actually need to do is forgive and love. We sin against God every single day, and He still forgives us and gives us mercy every single time. God is so loving, no human will ever repay God’s love.
Forgiveness is something we need to learn how to be good at. How can we get to heaven by holding grudges? We have to forgive if we want to grow. To forgive we need to see from the other persons side of the story. Jesus forgave and to be Christ-like we have to forgive aswell
“God never tires of forgiving, we tire of asking for forgiveness”. God will never stop forgiving as long as we live, but we are the ones who stop asking for forgiveness. God can’t just forgive us, if he wanted to he could, but he wants us to ask him because if we ask him, we will soon grow closer to him
In this scripture reflection I was reminded how hard it is to forgive, but unless we do it freely and honestly it will not count. Remember how God gave up His life so that we could be free, He forgave us of everything before we were even born.
Forgiveness is hard. It is hard to forgive people you have wronged especially when you were in the wrong. It is also hard to forgive the one who wronged you. You have to have the courage to say I forgive you and put everything in the past. We need to be able to forgive and forget. We need to have the courage to relive that we did wrong and need to be forgiven.
“I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.” Forgiveness is hard, no doubt about it. But being Catholics our faith is a forgiving one Jesus even said as he was dying “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” Let that sink in. He was on the cross the most humiliating and painful to die and He asks that the people doing this to Him be forgiven. We have to forgive or we aren’t appreciating what He did for us on that cross. Because Jesus died for us on that cross knowing we would sin against Him and He still asked for our forgiveness.
In the scripture it Jesus is telling us that we need to forgive those you have hurt us and we can’t hold a grudge our whole lives about it. Even if someone has hurt us we need to still forgive them because we shouldn’t be mad out whole lives at them.
I think God is trying to tell us that money and Earthly problems are not a very big deal and we need to just get over it as Fr. Jarrod said today at Mass.
What stuck out to me was that “God never tires of forgiving, we tire of asking for forgiveness”. this stuck out to me because I keep sinning and I know I can’t control it but I just don’t know why God still loves me and continues to forgive me after all i’ve done. I feel bad because i just keep hurting him and I try to stop but I can’t.
Forgiveness is one of the most important things in our religion. We are all sinners, and if someone sins, no matter how bad, if they want to repent and turn to God, all we can do is forgive them
God’s mercy is bigger than sin. We must never tire of fighting sin and asking for God’s mercy when we fall.
Jesus is telling us that we need to forgive and forget. By forget I mean forget what hurt us not the people that hurt us. He tells us that we can forgive if we try hard enough. He tells us that if we can forgive then we can have the gift of eternal life in Heaven. Try to forgive even if you don’t want to, try. In the end the reward will be worth it.
Forgiveness is one of the most difficult things to do. We always want to be forgiven we just don’t want to forgive others for things they did that hurt us. To forgive someone Is like letting go of a burden and giving it to Christ. We give Christ their burden if their sin and let him deal with it but give them the grace that you personally forgave them for what they did.
If a brother sins against me how must I forgive him. This to me is say that it is sometimes hard to forgive someone but we have to eventually forgive them.We have to talk to God and figure out the right way to forgive someone.
We need to ask for forgiveness from the Lord for our sins so we can go to heaven.
Today in the gospel the Lord is saying forgive others for they forgive you.
Today’s scripture reflection Jesus is telling me forgiving people is hard but we need to forgive. Forgiving people is hard but we need to forgive to move on Jesus forgive people while he was on the cross so we should forgive to.
The scripture is telling me that we need to follow God and trust in him. We also need to forgive others because if God can forgive us over and over for the sins that we do, we should be able to forgive others because we are all sinners.
God is telling us that he always forgives us, even if we sin really bad. God loves us so much that he loves us even if we do a bad sin. “LORD, IF MY BROTHER SINS AGAINST ME, HOW OFTEN MUST I FORGIVE HIM?” We should always forgive others even if they do it everyday. If we do that, we can into heaven.
I have had some hard days and not letting go of them will make you insecure and not trust people but if you forgive them that burden, you’ll feel a lot better and lighter. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing and it can be amazing. Your friendship will never be the same. If you say sorry to your friend there might be a chance that you and the other person are good friends.
“We too must forgive”
It might sometimes be hard to do that but we have to at least try. People make mistakes and they forgive themselves for what they did. You must to do the same and more by forgiving other people.
I think Jesuss is is saying to forgive are brothers and sisters.
Forgiveness is hard.
As hard forgiveness is Jesus dies on Cross for all our sins and forgave everyone. Even the people who hurt him. We need to forgive others like Jesus did.
Jesus is teaching me to forgive those who hurt us. Or just in general forgive those who do wrong towards us. Even if they’ve been hurting you for a while, do what is right and forgive them. Forgive others like Jesus forgave us.
We are thirsty for God’s graces. To receive God’s graces you must forgive those who sin against you. We can be protected from The Holy Family. Forgiveness was never intended to be an easy thing it is a challenge.
“God never tires of forgiving, we tire of asking for forgiveness”. This stood out to me because its saying that God will always forgive us no matte how bad it is but we get tired of asking for his forgiveness
“God never tires of forgiving, we tire of asking for forgiveness”. This stood out to me because its saying that God will always forgive us no matte how bad it is but we get tired of asking for his forgiveness so we should ask God for his forgiveness.
Who are we to ask for forgiveness but not forgive? Forgiveness is a very hard thing to do but if we give forgiveness, we will receive it. We need to treat grudges and bad feelings like scratching cats, would you hold onto a cat that wont stop scratching you? In this sense Bad feelings towards one another such as anger, relent, and grudges must be let go like the scratching cat.
“God never tires of forgiving, we tire of asking for forgiveness”.
I think the scripture reflection is about forgiveness. God never gets mad at us when we make mistakes because God always forgives. God loves us and he cares for us. We need to start forgiving others.
The gospel teaches us to forgive. If we can’t forgive others we shouldn’t expect forgiveness from others. Jesus forgave everyone because he had the weight of our sins placed on him and he had to die for us. But after all of that pain and suffering he still forgave us before he died. Forgiveness is hard but Jesus wants us to try and forgive, like he did for us.
For we are reduced, O Lord, beyond any other nation,
brought low everywhere in the world this day
because of our sins.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that us as in humanity have the temptation of sin and once we believe in our Lord we will be able to be given the opportunity to be sinless.
The human race is one of the worst things to happen to the world. We have done things that killed millions of people. We have done things that should have made God destroy the human race. He has chosen to put up with satanism and blasphemy. Cults and racism. He should have destroyed us thousands of years ago, but he didn’t. He loves us so much that he is willing to put up with an untold amount of hate from those who ignore him and his call.
I think Jesus is telling us to forgive others like He forgave us. A part that stuck out to me was
““Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.”
Jesus is telling us to always forgive others as many times as we get hurt because he forgave us and saved us from sin.
3/5/24 It shows the forgiving nature of the Savior and also the justice of God when we choose not to forgive. Think about what you can do to become a more forgiving person like Jesus Christ.
Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but 77 times” We should try to keep on forgiving people even when it is difficult. If we can keep on forgiving people God will keep on forgiving us. If God keeps on forgiving us then we should keep on forgiving other people. Forgiving can be really hard but it is necessary to get to God.
In the Gospel today Jesus asks us to forgive others. When we are forgiven but we do not forgive others, that is wrong. Jesus tells a parable of someone who is forgiven a big debt but they do not forgive someone who owes them a smaller debt. It is always good to be forgiving and that is what Jesus wants us to do. Jesus loves us so we should love too.
Forgiveness. It’s hard isn’t it. Especially when it’s someone we hate or dislike. We need God’s grace to forgive and love others. We should all learn how to do it and should do it.
we too must forgive. If we sin then we must apologize, but if someone hurts us we have to be able to apologize. Before that happens though you gotta make your wrongs into rights and face what you did or else people won’t forgive you most of the time. We also shouldn’t keep making the same mistake over and over again and should try harder not to make the same mistake.
This is saying that we need to forgive in order to get to heaven. Especially in this Lenten season, we need to forgive more, because Jesus literally DIED and rose just for us, and for us to go and hate one of His other children, is not right.
God will never not forgive you no matter what you are never going to be unworthy of it however it is our job to do your best in forving others as well.
