“WITH THAT THEIR EYES WERE OPENED AND THEY RECOGNIZED HIM, BUT HE VANISHED FROM THEIR SIGHT.” LK 24:13-35
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Acts 3:1-10
As Christians we are called to help others, the greatest in need. We are to take care of those who nobody else will even come close to. Today, Peter must have felt something inside of him, maybe compassion for the cripple. Do you have the urge inside of you to help the least of God’s people?
It is interesting to me who Peter is so interested in helping after Christ’s resurrection. How does Peter know what to say to heal the man, “in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk.” This reminds me of, “Every knee shall bend in the heavens, on the earth, and under the earth to the name Jesus Christ.”
I am crippled in many ways, I think we all are in some way. Matthew Kelly, in his book “Rediscover Jesus” reminds us that we all have blind spots. Things others recognize in us that we don’t see in ourselves. Things our pride and ego have pushed away for so long we totally miss them about ourselves.
The things people never say to us but talk to others about because they don’t want to hurt our feelings. We all need Jesus Christ the Nazorean to heal us. When we recognize our brokenness and come to Jesus for healing we will be “walking and jumping and praising God.”
LK 24:13-35
Does Jesus need to come back for us to know everything we need to know about how we are saved? Jesus said to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, “Oh how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?”
Then, Jesus proceeds to talk about all of the prophecies He fulfilled. When asked, “How are you saved or why did you need a Savior, can you answer it? Most Catholics can’t. This might be “put in your mirror” material, so get ready to write it down.
1. Jesus Christ had to die and rise. (God redeeming His people after the fall of Adam and Eve; Jesus is the new Adam, Mary is the second Eve) There in the Garden Adam and Eve sinned, there in the Garden lies the tomb Jesus resurrected from.
2. You must repent and be baptized. (Repent means to change the way you think about everything with God’s grace and the gifts of faith, hope, and love at our baptism. This is our response to God’s love and mercy for His people; allow God to transform you with His grace) 4 Things Jesus says we need for salvation: Baptism, Eucharist, Faith, do the Father’s Will. This is how we respond.
3. We must live our Baptismal promises out daily. I reject Satan. I believe Jesus is the Son of God (Creed)… (Are you rejecting Satan and fighting sin with a resolute heart? When falling are you going to confession often? We have amnesia (forget a lot) so we need to remind ourselves of what we believe daily through reading the Scriptures and the catechism (Youcat-did you ask for one for Easter?)
We cannot worship something we do not know and you will live what you believe. Is the Word of God forming you or Tik Tok, Youtube, Netflix, and video games? So, what do you believe? Your eternal state which cannot be changed depends on it. Live with the end in mind.
Last, Jesus uses the breaking of the bread to reveal Himself to the disciples. On Passover, Holy Thursday, He gives us Himself in the bread and wine until He returns. Do you believe the Eucharist is Jesus Christ? Think about it next time you go to Mass. Jesus says we must eat His flesh and drink His blood to have eternal life.
This is serious and a requirement! Buy a book about the Eucharist and read it before Mass. The Youcat says the origin of the liturgy/Mass is God. It is when He gives Himself to us, He cannot give any more than Himself! Let’s grab everyone an go to Mass more often. Honestly, what do we really believe in? We can’t worship or build a relationship with someone we don’t know.
Today’s challenge: Recognize we are crippled and we need Jesus the Nazorean to help us leap for joy into heaven. Be able to answer how we are saved as Christians (this is your Christian identity-we can’t live out something we can’t identify with) and most importantly live it-be a saint today!
#Christian YOLO
Be a believer, be a saint today!
Jesus Christ, I believe, help my unbelief!
”in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk.” This stuck out to me because it shows how in the name of Jesus anything can happen. Jesus makes the impossible, possible if we just believe.
Today’s scripture we learn that we are crippled in many ways and Jesus has to carry us through his way to the cross. We are blind and Jesus heals us, we are hurt he is a bandage for us. We don’t know everything about Jesus but we should know he’s the son of God king among all kings.
“they were filled with amazement and astonishment at what had happened to him.” God works in so many ways in all of our lives, either in small or big ways, usually small, but in order to allow him to step in, we have to invite him first, like a good guest, he will wait at the door until you are ready to open.
A part that stuck out to me was “And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight.”
Jesus is always present. He is always with us every day we just sometimes forget or don’t notice because we are focused on other things like video games, sports, or what we are gonna eat for lunch. I think in this part Jesus is reminding us He is there we just have to seek him to find him and not be focused on other things all the time that are less important than Him.
I feel like this Gospel is about how Jesus is always walking with us and telling us what to do but sometimes we don’t see Him. Sometimes we just keep on going and we don’t recognize that He is there talking and walking with us. Then later we reflect and see how He was walking with us and helping us. We need to get better at knowing that God will always be there for us to talk to. We should be recognizing the way He is working through us. “Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?” That stuck out to me because we can read the Scriptures and understand them but not fully recognize what they are really about. Jesus wants us to be able to feel our hearts burning with love for Him.
They people on the road to Emmaus question Jesus asking if hes the only one who doesn’t know of the events of what happened the events of his own death but they do not realize who they are speaking too. Eventually he opened there eyes and recognized him and they returned to Jerusalem. They knew all that had happened about Jesus’ death but didn’t know he had risen until this point where he shows them that he fulfilled the scripture and rose from the dead and appeared to them.
“in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk.”
This stuck out to me because I feel like it is showing how we need to rise for Jesus and with Jesus’ help we can rise (be healed). He is everywhere He know our path, He knows all the good and bad things that we will do and go through. He knows that even with all the bad things going on in our lives, we are still good but if we let Jesus into our lives it could turn out even better.
We are all in a sense crippled. We all need someone to heal us. Not with physical pain but spiritual. God is here to heal us from our spiritual suffering when we go to Confession/pray. No matter what we have done, we can still receive His grace. In the reading, Peter heals the crippled. Are we doing our best to heal others? If they start to go towards sin, are we leading them away? Whenever there is a struggle ask, “What would Jesus do?”.
They people on the road to Emmaus question Jesus asking if hes the only one who doesn’t know of the events of what happened the events of his own death but they do not realize who they are speaking too. Eventually he opened there eyes and recognized him and they returned to Jerusalem. They knew all that had happened about Jesus’ death but didn’t know he had risen until this point where he shows them that he fulfilled the scripture and rose from the dead and appeared to them .
He talks to two disciples on there way to Emmaus and Jesus decides to walk with them but they do not recognize him but they talk to him tell him what happened to himself and invited him to stay with them but once they get to the place they are staying he says the blessing and brakes the bread than vanishes after reveling himself to them and they realize who it was the whole time.
we are called to help other people as christians. Jesus uses the breaking of the bread to reveal himself, he reveals himself in many ways to us. Does Jesus need to come back for us to know everything we need to know about how we are saved? If we are called to help, then why do we do bad things to other people, if we are called why does God let us do these things. Its all because of free will, he gave us the option to love him or not and be a follower. Chose to be a followers, let him reveal himself, and be a christian. I saw this video that meant a lot and it was this guy talking to satan and satan said if you are a christian then im a christian. The guy then I believe in Jesus, Satan then said I do too, then the guy said yeah but I know the bible, Satan then said I do too, if youre a chrsitian because you believe in Jesus and know the bible, then i am too. It meant a lot because we take for granted that we arent living the true christian life.
In Today’s Reading it stood out to me when Peter told him to Rise and Walk, this stood out to me because he had so much faith and trust in God to say those simple but powerful words. He trusted that God would heal him and he was able to speak those words so quickly and confident and God worked through him.
what’s needed for salvation is baptism, Eucharist, faith and to do the Fathers will that he has assigned us in this life to become. To go to church and to have no doubt in God the Father that he is the true God and to have no reason to even hesitate that he is right.
4/3/24 The two disciples on the road to Emmaus were trying to comprehend the events of Holy Week and Jesus appeared to them. They didn’t know it was Jesus and Jesus didn’t tell them. He had the power to appear as someone else and choose when to be discovered.
the two unnamed disciples were walking to a place called Emmaus. While walking, they saw Jesus following them but didn’t recognize them. Then after seeing Jesus breaking bread at their house, they recognized them but then Jesus disappeared. We are the unnamed disciples. We didn’t recognize Jesus at first because we were distracted by the things in our life. Then we recognized Jesus through prayer. .
Jesus tells us always of what he has done for us. Sometimes i don’t think we truly recognize what he did for us. He died for us and he suffered to save us. Jesus is always with us and he loves us. We need to show him we are there and we understand what he did to save us. We must try to show him the amazing love that he shows us.
I think todays scripture is about how we see God when we “open our eyes” but then he vanishes because we put everything else first before him. God is giving us chances and we dont listen or we ignore it and it is hurting us. We need to listen to him and follow him.
Something that stuck out to me was that they didn’t even know that this was Jesus their savior, these were his disciples, his closest friends, and yet they didn’t recognize that it was him, and we need to do the opposite of the disciples, because they had the most evidence out of anyone of the planet than Jesus was the Savior, and yet they didn’t recognize him when he rose from the dead.
What really stuck out to me was that we do have to recognize we are crippled, or hurt because we do not possess Heaven. When we reach Heaven, all of our crippledness and hurting will be gone. Love God as if you will meet Him tomorrow!
Jesus reveals Himself in many ways sometimes we do not even know it .Jesus carry´s us through life with him like how He carried the cross for us and our sins.Jesus knows everything and the things that will happen to us.Even if your at a point in your life where you think nobody is there for you He will always be there for you and never leave you even if you leave Him.
When Jesus broke this bread and vanished is what stuck out to me. It stuck out to me because it was almost like the holy spirit took his place at the time. The holy spirit is here to guide us like it guided those two apostles. The holy spirit is here to be with us till Jesus second coming.
We are Christians. As Christians, we should be helping others get to heaven by guiding them along the path. Jesus is our #1 priority and we can’t stop for anything else. Sin leads us from heaven Satan leads us from everything. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. If we don’t know somebody, how can we love them. We know Jesus, but we don’t love Him. Remember to reflect and ask Him for His graces.
The scripture says that Jesus walks with us through all of our struggles. Jesus was helping us when he died on the cross for us. I can use this in everyday life because I need to remember that he is always with us and we need to believe in that. “Things others recognize in us that we don’t see in ourselves.” This also stuck out because it is saying that we judge people before we think of them or ourselves. We are not perfect and Jesus is helping us to become more perfect.
Today’s Gospel is about the road to Emmaus and helping people
we are called to worship God in all ways and help others not make
fun of and question others, on the road to Emmaus people
questioned Jesus and the people walking with him it is human
nature to want to know more but you don’t always get that.
“Do you have the urge inside of you to help the least of God’s people?“ I chose this because I think that even helping to lowest can do something good. Doing good for those at low points could help because being at a low can be hard and helping them can bring them up. It is important to help others like how Jesus would have.
I feel like the two disciples’ eyes being opened with the breaking of the bread is a symbol of how we will truly know God in the Eucharist which came about from the same thing as what the disciples eyes were opened to, Jesus breaking the bread, saying the blessing, and giving it to them.
I think the gospel is about Jesus sacrificing his life for us and even though he is a God and could destroy us in his full form he decided to sacrifice his life for us. Some people think that Jesus doesn’t love him because we didn’t get something we wanted, but we know Jesus loves us because he made of have a conscious and have a right and he doesn’t control us and make us work for him even though we did bad stuff and should be punished but Jesus doesn’t punish us he does what’s right for us to help us because he loves us.
We need to keep believing in God even when things get rough. The disciples didn’t realize Jesus was right in front of him until he said so. We need to stay open and help everyone and treat them with respect. Jesus has said what you do to the least, you do to me.
We need to actually realize the Lord is with us. The two didn’t even realize it was Jesus when they were walking right next to Him. In everything Holy and good we need to realize it is God. He is loving and amazing. We need to realize He is in the Eucharist.
We are crippled in many different ways Jesus carried us through the cross. He died for our sins so that we could be healed.
I think what Jesus was trying to say is that the more you talk the less that you hear him because Jesus is heard in silences.
Today what stuck out to me is that the angels were the ones to tell the people that he had risen. This is cool to me because he knew that this would happen from the beginning of time so he had designated angels to help tell people that he had risen. The even crazier part is that the tomb was exactly how the women saw it. The people didn’t even recognize him that is the sad part. We don’t recognize God now and back even when he was alive. It is so difficult to recognize God in our busy and stressful life and all the evil things. But we need to just open up to God and read even 5 minutes of the Bible. We don’t even need to read the Bible we just need to sit down and listen because God speaks to us in so many ways but it is very quite because he wants us to have our own free will and choose to be quite and listen to him instead of him just making us robots and follow his ways and always doing what is right.
How does Peter know what to say to heal the man, “in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk.” This part of the scripture stuck out to me because it shows us that Peter and John have such belief in God and in Jesus, that they trust that Jesus listens to them and answers. We can do the same if we believe that God listens and answers. As catholics we are called to be missionaries. To teach people about Jesus. To teach about his works, to others.
Jesus could be right next to us but we are too foolish to know that, we see that from those two disciples who could not be able to tell until after they left him. Jesus is all around us, in friends, family, and just watching over us.
Peter said, “I have neither silver nor gold, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, [rise and] walk.” Today we hear about the power in Jesus’ name. Peter didn’t preform a whole ritual to heal this man, but simply just acted in the name of Jesus. That is how powerful our God is. If there is incredible power in just His name, than how powerful is He?
In the Gospel today Jesus comes to some people and they tell him about what the women saw that went to Jesus’s tomb but they do not recognize Jesus. Then Jesus starts to preach to them and they recognize him. Sometimes we do not recognize that God is in everyone, we just treat them how we want to. Jesus loves everyone and we should remember that and treat everyone how we would want to be treated.
“I am crippled in many ways, I think we all are in some way.” We all are gonna or already are facing challenges and most of us have a smile on our face when we are and hide our true emotions. When we do that it can be hard but just remember that Jesus will always be there even when it doesn’t feel like it He is listening to you and sitting there by your side. Then He places something or someone in our life to help us get over the darkness, which it can make life much better.
“Oh, how foolish you are!” Today this quote caught my attention. Two disciples were not paying attention as they were talking about Jesus the Nazarene, but they were talking right in front of His face. We have to recognize the face of Jesus, so that when it comes time to meet Him we can be like this is my Father. Therefore, find a relationship with Him so we can recognize the Son of God.
Christians are called to help others. We should try to the best of our abilities! Peter healed someone by just saying Jesus’s name. Even though Peter denied and in the end abandoned Jesus, Jesus still allowed him to have that power. Jesus loved Peter, and forgave him. We are like Peter. Even though we deny Jesus and give up on him, Jesus forgives us and loves us. We just need to get back up.
“And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him.” I think that it’s interesting that the disciples didn’t recognize him until after he had broken the bread. I feel like that’s kind of a sign for us that Jesus really is present in the Eucharist and even though we can’t really see him in that little piece of bread he really is there. We should know deep in our hearts that he is really present at mass and that knowledge alone should be enough to give our lives to him.
Jesus is trying to tell me to help others, the greatest in need. We all need Jesus Christ he is the one true God. Jesus Christ had to die and rise to save us from Hell.
“As Christians we are called to help others, the greatest in need”. We should always be helping people no matter what. Even doing the smallest thing to help someone could help us too. We should care for people that aren’t cared for and help them even if they are struggling we should always be there for people.
In today’s Gospel Jesus walked with 2 of his disciples and they did not recognize him. They only recognized him when he was breaking the bread. We can be falling into sin and not recognize that we need to be holy. When we go to heaven we should be ready to get into heaven as holy as possible.
“I am crippled in many ways” this is the phrase that stood out to me the most because it is more than a phrase it is life many don’t realize but that is what we are more that people sons and daughters of the one and only God the father that is why I feel like the holy spirit lead me to this phrase.
“As Christians we are called to help others, the greatest in need.” We need to help others get on the right track because everyone, at some point in their life they need a little help to get back on the right path. We need to help everyone we can, not just our friends or family but everyone, because that is what God would do.
The things people never say to us but talk to others about because they don’t want to hurt our feelings. We all need Jesus Christ to heal us. When we recognize our brokenness and come to Jesus for healing we will be “walking and jumping and praising God.” The more you know about God the easier it is to love him.you can spread the word by talking about it to other people and the more you talk to the greater the love is for everyone. If you worship something else than God you are going in the wrong direction and moving further from God.
In today’s gospel, Jesus appears to two disciples. He asks them what they were talking about. They do not recognize Jesus and tells them that their leader has been killed. I think that Jesus wants us to recognize his face and realize who he is. The disciples had been with Jesus for so long yet they still doubted they would ever see him again. Jesus needs us to recognize him and proclaim.
In this scripture Jesus appears to some apostles when they realize it’s Jesus they are overjoyed and ecstatic over him for he has risen. We need to be like the apostles and be joyful this Easter that Jesus has risen and saved us from our retched sins, that he rose from the dead and defeated the grave that is what Easter is about not getting candy, its about the joy of God rising and defeating death. we thank you God.
A part that really stuck out to me was “I am crippled in many ways, I think we all are in some way.” By saying we are crippled its not in a literal sense, it means we all have our flaws or differences. But most of the time we choose not to acknowledge then and change our ways, if you don’t something that you know is a sin but you just keep saying “i will go to confession later or tomorrow” that is ignoring our flaws and that is a flaw we can fix. We don’t need to start being better later or tomorrow or next week, we need to be better now. If we see Jesus and confession as a blind spot all our life then when we get to the gates all Jesus will see is a blind spot. We all sin, we all deny it, we all push away God even during time of need but that’s not doing anything for us. It’s just making it worse are ruining our relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In today’s gospel it says “I am crippled in many ways, Jesus is trying to say that we need to recognize that we are crippled. We all need someone to heal us. JESUS heals us! No matter what we have done in our life we can still receive His grace and forgiveness. We are not crippled physically, we are spiritually . Jesus will always be there for us. He will listen and be right by you’re side, and he has died for our sins so that we may be healed from or actions.
In this scripture what stuck out to me was when God told us”As Christians we are called to help others, the greatest in need. We are to take care of those who nobody else will even come close to.” This stuck out to me because to take care of someone is a very important task, a lot of people might think of like just finding someone on the road and giving them everything, like a house, food, money everything. It could be anything that helps the smallest things could be the most important. Every little thing counts.
“With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,” This part of the Gospel stuck out to me, because the Apostles didn’t recognize Jesus until He revealed Himself to them. However, even though they didn’t know it was Jesus, they still spoke kindly to Him. We should follow in kind, and be kind to everyone, because we don’t know who in our lives God may be acting through. Jesus revealed Himself to the Apostles, and then He went away.
When the two disciples are on their way to Emmaus they see Jesus but don’t know that it is him as they are walking they both are questioning him on how they haven’t heard of the events that have just recently happened but once the disciples get hungry they tell the man let seat and as they are eating Jesus breaks bread and that’s when they opened their eyes and have realized that this entire time they have been walking and talking with Jesus after they get done eating Jesus just vanishes after words they then go to the disciples to tell them what happens. From that story it is trying to show that our entire lives we will have been walking and talking with Jesus without even knowing it and that we must open our eyes to see that this is the one and only God that is all loving and forgiving and we must pay all respect for him since he died for our sins and that one day he will come back.
Humans at times can be very bad at perception. Not just physically. We have a conscience but we still fail to tell right from wrong in a lot of situations. The disciples were so caught up in describing Jesus they didn’t realize h was right in front of them. That is something many people need to work on. Recognizing the voice of God and listening for his will. We make up voices in our hearts and say that is God. We need to work on listening to his voice.
What I took out from the Gospel was its like how Jesus is always walking with us but how we are to foolish to realize that and how once we do we will be able to enter into heaven and live with him for ever
I feel like the scripture passage was saying that Jesus came down to show himself that he had risen into heaven and tell them that I am here. This can relate to many things in the Bible with some sayings that do not fear for I am with wherever you may go. That is what I live by, when we fear or we are sad, Jesus will take those emotions and throw it out because that makes us depressed and going into bad habits. We should learn more to fear the lord as knowing that he has power and is God, so that he will forgive us and take our sadness and emotions with him to the cross. Jesus wants us to be happy by seeing his face. There is a line in a song called the prodigal that goes like ” I don’t want to lose my soul, chasing after things that don’t lead me straight to you, and I don’t want to lose my gaze when I meet you face to face, well done welcome home, now I am running home like the prodigal.” this reminds me of today in this world that we are chasing after bad things that won’t get us anywhere and that once we find that out we feel more open. We don’t want to lose the gaze of God In front of you because that’s the most holy image. We should try to realize that we should be [running home to the father in heaven, as in wanting to be there in heaven with him and be there in everlasting life with family and thank him and be proud of yourself with ending at the finish line to go to Heaven.
“4 Things Jesus says we need for salvation: Baptism, Eucharist, Faith, do the Father’s Will.” What I am getting from this is that you can’t only pray and read your Bible and do all of that but you also have to do the Father’s Will. Yes it is important to do all of the praying stuff because it will help you do the Father’s Will. You also have to remember that God comes first. Faith is also big too because if you do not believe then you don’t have faith. Baptism is important because it gets rid of original sin. Eucharist is important too. They all are important but Doing the Will of the Father is probably the most important out of all.
” We cannot worship something we do not know and you will live what you believe.” I think this is important because some people just care about Tik Tok, Youtube, Netflix, and that can change your beliefs in what you see on tik tok, YouTube things and that can change your beliefs in what you see ever day.
we have to put ourselves into the story we have to walk where he walked and fallow in his footsteps to understand who he really is when he appears to them they do not recognize him then he opens their eyes and as soon as they see him he vanishes and is gone from their sight it is really disappointing to me that the person that just saved them was right in front of them and before they get a good look he’s gone.
for thousands of years, we have had proof that God exists and he loves us. For thousands of years, we have shrugged it off and called it a coincedence. Is it really such a bad idea that there is a cosmic being watching over us with love and care?
We are called to serve others. It would be wrong of us to treat others as less. We should not be letting our greed form our being, instead we should be listening to Jesus.
I wonder how Jesus can vanish? Did he walk away, did he teleport, or just levitated out. If I had power like his I think I wont make it through 2 years of power. I wonder what he thinks as well, is it mostly how he loves God or more human things like ¨What am I gonna eat today?¨ or ¨Hi mom¨ . I also wonder what miracles he did without anybody knowing.
In this passage it is that, God can be with us in the moment and we not realizing it, so we need to become more aware of God and get to know his presence. When we’re with God we can understand the world around us to an extent beyond compare. We should always acknowledge or try to acknowledge God’s presence.
”in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk.” This stuck out to me because in Jesus name you really can do anything Jesus can do anything.
I wonder how Jesus can vanish? Did he walk away, did he teleport, or just levitated out. If I had power like his I think I wont make it through 2 years of power. I wonder what he thinks as well, is it mostly how he loves God or more human things like ¨What am I gonna eat today?¨ or ¨Hi mom¨
. I also wonder what miracles he did without anybody knowing.
Jesus was popular, and if he was alive today He would still be popular. It is not everyday that someone claims to be God, and backs it up with miracles. Jesus was so incredibly popular He had to stand on a boat because the land was so crowded with people just wanting to see Him. The reason Jesus is so popular is because holiness is attractive, it pulls people up and Jesus loves to do that. He loves pulling people up. He loves making people happy and holy.
The people on the road to Emmaus didn’t recognize Jesus, just like Mary Magdalene didn’t. But they soon came to realize who he was and who they had been talking too. Most of the time we don’t see God in others, we just see people as themselves, but we need to learn to recognize that we all have the holy spirit in us and we need to learn to love each other and learn to forgive each other too.
“With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,”
Jesus is always knocking on our door for us to invite him into our lives and we don’t even bother to even pay attention most of the time. If we really and truly want Christ to enter and stay in our lives we have to let him stay and also actually want him to stay not just ignore him and be like “well i tried” No, you didn’t because if you really did you wouldn’t be saying that.
Satan puts a veil over our eyes so that we cannot see Jesus. When Jesus rose from the dead he meet up with 2 of His disciples and they did not even recognize Him. They talked to Him like He was a normal person who didn’t just die for us. Jesus tries to get us to take the veil off and see Him, but because of sin, we keep the veil.
Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory? God had to die for us to enter into his house, he had to suffer for us and he had to ressurect for us. He did all of these things for us. Now that lent is over, we all just forget our fasting, we go back to normal like it was a punishment, Lent is not a punishment, its a time for us to improve and reflect on what we can do to imitate Jesus and help others.
We are blinded by sin and can’t recognize Jesus. We have to pray and recognize Jesus
“With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight.” It can be easy to overlook God and forget what we believe in, but we must try our best to turn our whole mind and body towards him. The disciples didn’t realize that Jesus was with them again until he had to leave them. God is always by our side and we should never forget that. We need to do everything in the name of Jesus. We need to go out and preach the Gospel just as Jesus instructed.
What stuck out to me was when they were blind at the beginning because they couldn’t realize it was Jesus and then at the end when they finally realized it was Him. It stuck out to me because sometimes we can be blind in our faith and not be clear of what’s going on or who Jesus truly is. Then sometimes when it comes to the end of a reading or Gospel or maybe someone speaking to you, you finally start to understand about Jesus and the faith. I think if we look closely and take our time we’ll understand Jesus sooner than later.
God always know our path and He will only give us what is good for us and what can help us. He will appear to us when we need it even if we cant see Him, He will speak through people to tell you the truth.
¨We cannot worship something we do not know¨ That really stuck out to me because to love Jesus we must pray and worship him. We get to know him through prayer and giving him thanks. Once we understand who he is then we can truly love him and focus on spending time with him.
When Jesus is talking to the disciples on the road to Emmaus He is teaching but also listening. He is showing the disciples what had happened. How He rose and how HE fulfilled the scriptures. Jesus is in a glorified body so how do we know He is Jesus. We can know by the way He talks to us, cares for us for all our life. So when we put ourselves in this situation think of Jesus. Think of it as the Jesus then and Jesus now is the same Jesus. So let Him teach you and lead the way.
It is easy to be blinded by sin, and sometimes it’s hard to understand a message that Jesus gives us. As Mr. Goertz always tells us, there is a veil of sin somewhat blinding us spiritually. Jesus is the one who can help us see His messages clearer and better understand things. Jesus is also the one who has seen our sufferings because He was the one who took our sins on the Cross and died for us. He is there for us, no matter what.
“Every knee shall bend in the heavens, on the earth, and under the earth to the name Jesus Christ.”
We should all praise and worship the lord. Even if that means that we get made fun of. We should all kneel and bow to God, we should also respect him as our own friend.
The scripture is saying that God is always with us and we forget sometimes that he’s here with us. We need to remember that God is always here for us when we need him and always will be. Also that we don’t just turn to him when we need him or need something, but not block him out when we are with friends but remember him.
When we set out ego aside and realize that we need Jesus, we will have a much easier and better path to heaven. We all have blind spots, things that we struggle with but refuse to admit it, but if we can simply accept our flaws and turn to Jesus, our flaws will mean nothing because God is all we need
Jesus is everywhere. That is what I got from the reading today. Jesus is always watching over us and caring for us not from far away, but from right here. Jesus will never leave us if we call upon him we have to be open to him. The apostles were not open to Jesus, which is why they didn’t recognize him. He have to recognize Jesus through the mist of this world. This world tries to break us and make us turn to the devil but we have to look through the mist and recognize Jesus is there and waiting for us.
In this scripture reflection I was reminded that not just to love and care for those who hate me but also people that are the poorest in God’s kingdom. The people that not only I will not go to or look at but also the people that nobody gos to or looks at.
“I am crippled in many ways.”We are cripples who need God’s love but the people who are poor we don’t acknowledge. We are cripples but we don’t show it but the people who are cripples who do show it we act like we are better than them when really we are them. We need to help the cripples because some day that may be you and someone who helps them are like Jesus helping the poor and are following His word. We need to go out and help others instead of being selfish.
We need Jesus, we don’t need Him sometimes or when things are getting a little hard, we always need Him. No matter what we are doing we will be the cripple and we need Jesus to heal us.
I think God is trying to tell me to open my eyes and really see him. I think He is trying to tell me that He is right infront of me but I still can’t see him because I am not trying hard enough.
Jesus makes known that it is him in the breaking of the bread. he conceals his identity until then, and after breaking the bread, he vanishes. Jesus did not want to stay after they recognized him. I feel like this is important. he was with them until they truly saw him.
How many of us read the Bible and have know idea how to comprehend what we are reading? how many of the apostles got confused by the teachings Jesus made? we may not understand it right away but God is revealing himself on a deeper level to us. He is trying to show us who He is. we just have to understand it.
What stuck out to me was “in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk.” Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong. He leaped up, stood, and walked around, and went into the temple with them, walking and jumping and praising God.” this stuck out to me because it shows how powerful God is and that he truly can make anything happen so you must trust him in everything he does.
We are crippled in many ways and Jesus has to carry us through his way to the cross.
all of us are like the disciples on the road to emmaus and we all walk that path with Christ but we dont recognize its Jesus until he speaks to us and we listen to what he has to say instead of just sitting there oblivious we need to read the bible and anything else to actually see why Jesus needed to save and to see all the things he has done like him fulfilling the prophecies until we can hear him and understand him.
theres usually something bad happening to or around you. there’s no getting away from it we all will have to deal with hardships, we will all eventually loose someone but one person we will never loose is God. he is always there for you wether you feel him or not, it is your choice to turn to him and offer up your sins and suffering.
Jesus makes Himself known in today’s Gospel. He finds 2 of His disciples walking down a road to Emmaus, a town 7 miles from Jerusalem talking about what had happened the days before. Jesus acts like He doesn’t know what happened and then reveals the scriptures true meaning to the 2 disciples. The 2 invite Jesus over for dinner, Jesus breaks the bread, the 2 disciples then realize that (through the breaking of the bread) it truly was Jesus. The 2 disciples are unnamed because the 2 disciples are us. They are us talking about Jesus, we should be talking about Jesus, praising Him and worshiping Him. All the time, in our actions, words, deeds, and thoughts. Jesus was there for us so why aren’t we there for Jesus.
Today’s Scripture told me that Jesus is always there and we just don’t always see it, and it reminds me that I need to open my eyes and try to get to know him.
In this Gospel what I kept thinking about was The Veil, it covers our eyes from the spiritual world and we all have it. It blocks us from seeing the angels and demons and who people really are. Like on the Road to Emmaus the people had a veil over their eyes and they didn’t recognize Jesus. We are like this because we judge people just by their outward appearance. Thoughts come to mind like ‘She’s too tall’ or ‘He’s too short’ why do we do this? Still even if we know the person we think about their faults these thoughts about only the imperfections can cloud out the good things. We do this with others and ourselves. To get to heaven we have to learn how to love.
“I am crippled in many ways” What this is saying to me is we need God so that he can heal us and go to heaven. God will always forgive us no matter how bad the situation is he will always forgive us. We are crippled mentally not physically. We are crippled mentally because of sin.
‘in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk.” stuck out to me because Jesus can do anything and with Jesus anything is possible
He died for us and he suffered to save us. Jesus is always with us and he loves us. No matter what we are doing we will always be broken and need Jesus to heal us.
“WITH THAT THEIR EYES WERE OPENED AND THEY RECOGNIZED HIM, BUT HE VANISHED FROM THEIR SIGHT.”To me this means that when they were opened to Jesus and they learned about Him they could see Jesus but then they stopped believing and they couldn’t see Jesus in Heaven anymore. As Christians we need to do as much as we can to keep our eyes opened to God.
“Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem
who does not know of the things
that have taken place there in these days?”
This saying shows exactly how naive we are
because some don’t even believe the Word
Of God and when it comes to Judgement day
we will face the consequences.
The scripture is saying that through God anything can happen. God can reveal himself in many ways and can reveal himself through people. We should always see the good in people.
In today’s scripture reflection “As Christians we are called to help others, the greatest in need”. This stuck out to me because we are all called to be helpful and caring toward others in our life. We need to love others as God has loved us.
To see God we need to open our eyes in a way beyond just looking around we need to open them to the spiritual world.
Our ego had blinded us from ourselves. “Do you have the urge inside of you to help the least of God’s people?” stuck out to me today. God wants us to help even the poorest of his people .
We are crippled in many ways and Jesus has to carry us through His way to the cross. A part that stuck out to me was, “Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” It wasn’t. Why should God suffer for OUR sins and bad choices, yet we don’t suffer from our own choices. God loves us and were going to make mistakes, yet he still accpets us into his Kingdom.
As Christians we are called to help others, the greatest in need is a sentence that stuck out to me We need to help others get on the right track because everyone, at some point in their life, needs a little help to get back on the right path.
“Does Jesus need to come back for us to know everything we need to know about how we are saved?” This really stuck out to me because Jesus is saying do were really need him to come back to earth and make himself known again. Of course not. Jesus has already done that and we have plenty of proof. This reminds me of when St. Thomas didn’t believe that Jesus has resurrected and had to touch his wounds to be sure. We need to believe and trust in God with all our heart.
We cannot worship something we do not know and you will live what you believe. God always helps us through everything yet some still do not believe. We need to take the time to appreciate and respect Gods actions.
“And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing,
broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,”
We need to recognize Jesue in the Bread and Wine at Church. From wine to his very own blood and from bread to his very own body. Jesus suffered for us, we need to return the favor.
We are called to be like the two unnamed people. They invited Jesus in and he revealed himself to them. When we invite Jesus to come with us he will act just as he did in this Gospel and reveal who he truly is to us. We can not be foolish and look at him through a blind eye because we wont see who he truly is.
In todays gospel Jesus met travelers who didn’t recognize him so he talked with them and found they were going to a village for the night and invited him to join them for it was getting dark so came broke and told them of the gospels then they recognized him and he vanished so they realized they didn’t;t even recognize there own savoir after he came back and talked and ate with them. HAVE A NICE DAY.
Jesus walks with us through all of our struggles. Jesus was helping us when he died on the cross for us. I can use this in everyday life because I need to remember that he is always with us.
In today’s Scripture, Jesus showed the 2 disciples that He is truly Him. The 2 disciples are us because we don’t pay attention to Jesus enough. Instead, we are distracted by Social Media and don’t focus on Jesus, Whom we should always praise and worship instead of being on Social Media. Jesus is always there for us and we should be there from Him too. We are crippled and we need Jesus to help us become closer to Him so that we can be in Heaven with Him.
“Jesus uses the breaking of the bread to reveal Himself to the disciples.” This stuck out to me because the last supper when him and his disciples were all their and Jesus said “take this for all of you to eat of it it is my body which will be given up to you” he gave us are lives not just are parents some of it was but most of It was god he made you with your unique name or weird he made your face so he can see what his creation is and so he can call us by name like the sheep so they follow him.
Jesus had to suffered to enter his holy state. he shows that this world is not for us
Today what stuck out to me is that the angels were the ones to tell the people that he had risen. This stuck out to me because he knew that they were going to be sent down and so that they could go on and tell other people and they can tell other people and so on and so forth. They were the ones to tell everyone that Jesus is risen!!!
In confession we repent. I started one of my other responses like this and I am (in a way) still thinking about it. The way you put Jesus dies for us and then rises. Right after that you put we must repent and that in confession we are forgiven. We then must take up the cross (or burden) of trying not to sin again. We will try and fail many times and it can be relatively depressing. Great news 🙂 God can help get you back on your feet and he gives us the option of the sacraments and adoration. Keep loving God with your mind, heart, soul, and being.
😉
As human we tend to question absolute truth. This is sad because that means that a lot of people don’t believe that Jesus died for us. Jesus Appeared to the apostles today and at first they thought it was a ghost. This can tell us that if we just take a glance we don’t truly get the full image and believe. So don’t judge a book by its cover and show love to everyone without judgment.
to help others all around us even the people who despise us we need to be with open arms to anyone. who needs the help of God and our prayers because we should give grace just like God gave to us.
Jesus shows us that He is really real and that He is not only with us spiritually but also physically. Not only then but also now, he is with us physically at the mass when the Priest says “this is my body” and “this is my blood”.
We are the cripple and need Jesus. No matter the time or the place we will always need Jesus
Jesus tells the apostles that they are witnesses to the fulfillment of the scriptures. Then He opens up the scriptures to them showing that He fulfilled them, and that He truly is the Son of God, Our King. He then tells the apostles that they will do this to others. Show that Jesus was the Son of God and that He was the savior. Not the savior of Earthly things but the savior of divine things. He opened up heaven by dying for us. He is our savior! How do we not recognize this fact and not do anything but worship Him. If He can accept and save us, even though we were the reason He died. He died for US. How can we not accept Jesus the perfect sacrifice and follow Him. Follow Jesus and you will have eternal life.
“You children of Israel, why are you amazed at this,
and why do you look so intently at us”
This part stuck out to me in the Scripture today because it reminds me that God is all powerful beyond our understanding and this gives us an example of what God can do and He does so much in our lives that we don’t notice but if we try to strengthen our relationship with Him then our eyes will be opened.
One main thing that stuck out to me was that the they didn’t even know that this was Jesus their savior, these were his disciples, The scripture is saying that God is always with us and we forget sometimes that he’s here with us.
¨Rise and walk¨ is one thing that stook out to me while i was ready i think this line is telling us to never give up when we fall down just like Jesus did when he died on the cross and all though we may fall he is there to help get us back on our feet.Amen
“We cannot worship something we do not know” This stuck out to me because I watch TikTok alot and more than I’m reading Jesus’ words so its like you think TikTok is your king or something but its not obviously Jesus is he is the way to go he won’t care if you watch that a little bit but spend more time with Jesus than with TikTok.
Jesus reveals Himself in many ways sometimes we do not even know it. Jesus carries us through life with him like how he carried the cross for us and our sins. Jesus knows everything and the things that will happen to us. Even if you’re at a point in your life where you think nobody is there for you he will always be there for you and never leave you even if you leave Him.
We need to be aware of Jesus’ presence. Instead of thinking, “Jesus is dead and we’ll meet him in heaven someday” we need to realize that he is with us here on earth and we need to pay attention to the signs he gives us instead of being blinded like the aposltes
The scripture is saying that God is always with us and we forget sometimes that he’s here with us. God wants us to pray to him about whatever is on our minds, but we forget that we can and keep all of our feelings inside. God is always here and will never leave us alone
