“LEAVE HER ALONE. LET HER KEEP THIS FOR THE DAY OF MY BURIAL. YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH YOU, BUT YOU DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE ME.” JN 12:1-11
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Mary, Martha, and Lazarus are Jesus’s best friends. Jesus decides to spend some of His last days with those closest to Him while on earth. During this Holy Week, take time to read the Passion again and find a book that explains it. It is wise also to read about what happened to a victim of Roman crucifixion, so we can see what Christ endured for our sins.
Jesus, the God Man is about to leave this earth and fulfill His mission of dying for our sins and most importantly resurrecting. Before our death, we will want to leave our best advice behind to our family members. Jesus is no exception. Some of His greatest teachings about who we are, who He is, suffering, and sin come from Holy Week and His family is all of humanity.
His Words are very important and should be taken to heart. Write them down and keep them some place to reread throughout the year, not just Lent. Fast every Friday throughout the year to remember this Holy Week, especially Good Friday (This is required for all Catholics, not optional). Do the Stations of the Cross with great devotion every Friday throughout the year to remember Christ’s Passion and Death.
Go to Mass every Sunday, it is a mini-Easter to remember Christ’s resurrection. Go to Mass every day if possible to allow God to bring you back to the foot of the Cross; what was present in history is now present in mystery. Be transformed by Jesus in the Eucharist.
Find a book on the Passion of Christ and read it every Friday throughout the year. If you study and gain knowledge of Christ and His Passion, you will begin to understand His love for you. When you begin to understand His love for you, you will desire to love Him back more than anything in this world. Then, you will start fighting sin and desire a resolute heart.
Your eyes will always be set on heaven and not things of the earth. You will desire to pray without ceasing. The saints were all transformed at the foot of the cross. Allow God to love you, it is His greatest desire. How do we know? He gave up His life for each of us, total self-sacrifice. We, in turn, give up our lives for others.
In Peter Kreeft’s book “Jesus Shock”, he talks about adoration. He uses today’s Gospel as defining adoration. Mary was a prostitute and had earned her money giving her body to men. She didn’t care as much about the acts, but the money so she could have more stuff. When she repents and follows Jesus, she recognizes “stuff” doesn’t matter.
She gives up an entire year’s wages to buy the perfume she pours on Jesus. She adores Jesus with her whole self and holds nothing back with her material goods. At the sight of true adoration, Kreeft says Judas cannot take it. This is when the devil enters his heart and he goes to betray Jesus. When we see someone give themselves up totally and completely to do what they were made for, adore their God, we either follow or run. Jesus forces us to make a decision.
Are you really all in with Jesus? I have work to do, too. May we continue to strive to be more like Mary and give all! This Holy Week is a good time to commit, repent, and strive even harder.
Today’s challenge: Pray. Ask Jesus to reveal His heart to you during this Holy Week. Fast, suffer, offer your suffering up with Christ’s suffering, prepare for joy. Reread the Passion in the Scriptures each day this week and reflect on it, put yourself into the Passion with Christ. What is dominating your thoughts? Give it to Jesus this week and trust that He will take care of it.

“I formed you, and set you as a covenant of the people, a light for the nations, To open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confinement, and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.” This stuck out to me because it shows us that God created us all for different reasons. He didn’t create us to all be the same. He made us all with our differences but His one main reason was to spread the word and to help lead everyone back to Him.
A part that stuck out to me was “Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil made from genuine aromatic nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair; the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil” We are all called to serve. We are called to serve others and be kind to them. I think in this part of the Gospel Mary is a good example of someone faithful and kind to God who serves him. She anoints his feet and then drys them with her hair.
In today’s scripture Jesus says, “You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” This tells me that there will always be people who we need to help. Jesus is saying that while he will not always be there to guide the disciples there will always be people who need help and need to be cared for. It is our job to do what is right and to help those who have less.
Today’s scripture we learn, Jesus goes through this suffering for us and our sins. He is about to shock the world when he is crucified and resurrect from the dead and perform another miracle. That is one of the weirdest miracles ever when they start speaking different languages. Jesus did this for JesUS he did this for us in his name alone.
“Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil made from genuine aromatic nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair” This stuck out to me because the oil was worth 300 days wages but she decided to use it on Jesus because she knew that He meant more to her than money. She loved Jesus and wanted to show Him that she loves Him. She could have sold the oil but God was more important to her. We need to make God our number one priority. Jesus is who we should always be thinking about and put first. He loves us and puts us before anything in His heart so we should do the same.
In this Gospel, we see the fully human part of Jesus come out. If we were about to die, who would we want to spend our last days with? Our friend and family! Jesus decided to spend His last days before He died with His friends Lazarus, Mary and Martha. Also just how we would want to give out our best advice before we died, some of His most powerful lessons He teaches us comes during Holy Week.
Jesus came to Bethany, and Martha wanted to anoint His feet, Judas (the betrayer) was angry and said she should have sold it and gave the money to the poor, but really, he held the money bag and wanted the wages for himself.
mary gave up a whole years worth of work and pay to be able to pour out a perfume on Jesus’s feet. That’s how much I want to be like closer to God. To give up my life to him and become closer to the holy way of life.
Sin is a rabbit hole. We start with something small, and then it spirals out of control and we get lost and trapped in a vortex of misery. For instance, the Pharisees first plotted to trap Jesus in saying something wrong. Then, they plotted to imprison him, and after that they descended to murder. But they even went a step further, plotting to kill Lazarus. We can get easily stranded without a way out, and then we continue to do whatever got us into this hole in the first place. Jesus offers the snap back to reality. He can free us from this vortex, and lead us down a better path. No matter what depth you are at, or what hole you go down, He will always be waiting for you, preparing to help whenever you ask. If you surrender yourself to Jesus in all aspects of your life, there will be no one and nothing that can trick you into falling down. You may go astray, on a different path, but there will always be that divine ranger to help you back on your feet.
I think that today’s scripture was telling us that we need to pray, and take it seriously. And it’s not like praying at the start of each class, or just saying two Glory Be’s every night. We need to find a quiet place to relax and be able to open our hearts up to Jesus. It doesn’t have to be long, just take 5-10 minutes everyday to spend with Jesus our Lord and Savior. He will listen to us, but He can only listen if we let Him.
In this sripture we see that Jesus is trying to give advice and make the most of his time left. We also see that Mary spent a lot of money on this oil that she uses to was Jesus’ feet. Even Jesus’ Mother shows respect and honor to God and she is a great example of how we sould act.
This Holy Week work to give yourself and offer your whole heart and adore Jesus. When we give our hearts and our belief truly to God and let Him take control of our life and the path we take we don’t need anything else God will provide for us we just have to take the first step and choose to follow him.
“Six days before the Passover…” that line stuck out to me for one reason, I counted and after six days it will be Easter. There must be symbolism in that.
Mary took the perfumed oil that was worth 300 days wages and used it to wash Jesus’ feet but Judas say you should have sold that and given the money to the poor but he doesn’t really care about the poor since he was the keeper of the money bag the money would have gone with him and he wouldn’t have given it away he would have kept it out of greed. But Jesus says to him you will always have the poor but you will no always have me so take care of me so you can take care of the poor like you do me.
Jesus is our family. In my family I do not know if anyone would dies on a cross for me the pain and sufering are insane. Which makes Jesus our closest family.
You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”
The Gospel today is the one where Mary washed the feet of Jesus with perfumed oil and then dried the feet of Jesus with her hair. would you dry someones feet with your hair No but would you dry Jesus’s feet with your hair Yes. See Jesus isn’t just a someone because with the changes in the words we used in one sentence from some to Jesus changed my answer and also Jesus said that “but you do not always have me.” there is two ways you can think about this because he is always with us but he was with them in flesh and he will leave them soon.
i think God is saying that there will always be people who need help and we could be the ones to guide them. we wont always have god with us and we could be like him and hep other people.
I really like this Gospel. It shows what Jesus’ friends are willing to do for Him. That is a relationship I strive for with God. I strive to be close to Him and to listen to His wishes. I want to show Him the utmost respect, because that is what He deserves.
What stuck out to me in the scripture was “Before our death, we will want to leave our best advice behind to our family members.” This means we should be a role model for the future family just like Jesus was when he died on the cross he was demonstrating that we need to do the right thing and even if we don’t like it we are still called to do it. Another part was “His Words are very important and should be taken to heart.” This also stuck out to me because it is saying we need to listen and we need to think about what God calls us to do.
I think what Jesus is saying here is that with him you will be protected but without him there you will be hurt. So that is why we need god in our life because he could save when you need him.
In today´s scripture when learn that Jesus suffered and died for us and for our sins.Jesus is always there for us even when our friends and family are not.He helps us in prayer and in little ways.In the Gospel we know that Jesus knew what he had to do and he still forgave the people who hurt and killed him.We should forgive like Jesus does and we will be a better person.
A lot of the Jews started to believe in Jesus once they had seen that Lazarus was alive again. This shows how some people need proof, but now all we have is faith. We need a strong faith to keep our priorities straight. God needs to be first, always. Anything or anyone else that tries to stop you from having God first might not be needed anymore in your life.
We need to realize that Jesus is the most important thing ever. He is better than all the money in the world. He died for you and He loves you. We need to love Jesus with all of our hearts. He loves us, we just need to love Him back.
Something that I thought was interesting is that Mary spent a ton of money, like 300 days wages worth of oil, and put it on Jesus, and Judas the betrayer was confused, and kind of mad because he said that she should’ve given that money to the poor, and Jesus’ answer I find so amazing, he said, “You will always have the poor, but not me.” I think that is so important, because I got out of this that we can’t take things for granted, their might be something that we have right now that you don’t even realize, while other people would die to be in your position. I saw this thing on TikTok, and it said, “People don’t realize they have something until they don’t, it’s more like people never thought that they would lose it,” and I think that’s what his disiples were thinking when Jesus said this
the part that stuck out to me was “Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil made from genuine aromatic nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair” she carried so much about her son that she spent all the money she had just to anoint him before he had to endure all that pain and pass away. She was such a loving mother that we should be looking up to. She would always help others and was kind to everyone. We should be like her and look up to her.
This is Mary the sinner woman, not Mary, the Mother of God. It gets confusing!
“Allow God to love you, it is His greatest desire.” This means to me that even though sometimes you feel like no one loves you there will always be at least one person who does, no matter what you do. Even when we act bad, He loves us, when we don’t go to church, He loves us, When we don’t go to confession, He loves us, Even if your a “disgrace”, He loves us, So no matter what He will ALWAYS love us. You might be wondering, why me? He loves you because you are one of His children. He made you how he wanted you to look, act, and more.
Jesus spent His last days with His friends. If we can spend time with our family and friends, then we can surely spend time with God. It might be difficult, but if we keep trying, we’ll see Jesus. Sin is a habit. We always go back to doing sin. We can only get better if we work at it again and again. Sin is just like a person. It tries to get us in its grasp, but God’s hand is more powerful and can help us, but we keep jumping off and going to sin. This week we should try to stop sinning and try to pray at least for fifteen minutes each day. That way, we might talk to God.
“Mary was a prostitute and had earned her money giving her body to men. She didn’t care as much about the acts, but the money so she could have more stuff. When she repents and follows Jesus, she recognizes “stuff” doesn’t matter.” This part of the scripture stuck out to me because it tells us that even in the lowest of the low, when we only care about stuff, if we follow Jesus he can change our lives forever. Sometimes people take the easy way out with Jesus, but the easy way out is not the best.
We need to notice that following Jesus with our whole body mind and soul, we will live in perfect happiness.
I think the gospel today was how Jesus knew he was going to die but he didn’t do anything to stop he just prayed and be by his friends and followers. Most people would panic and try to stop their death if they knew they were going to die soon but Jesus knew what he had to do. Sacrifice himself to free billions of people from eternal sin. That takes a lot of courage to do.
Today’s Gospel was very in depth and I like gospels like that because
they say more. In the Gospel today these words stuck out to me
“whom he had raised from the dead” these words stuck out to me because
Jesus raised from the dead and he also rose Lazarus from the dead. He gave
Lazarus a second chance and he gave humanity a second chance he died on
the cross for us so we should pray to him every day.
In the Gospel one thing that stuck out to me was that Jesus told Judas, “You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” That was like Jesus foreshadowing his death and resurrection and ascension into heaven. Jesus came down to Earth for only a little while and went back into heaven. Jesus will always be with us but not physically only spiritually. Then we will be with Jesus in heaven.
Something that stuck out to me today was that the chief priest was planning on killing Lazarus again because he was angry that the people were following Jesus. This stuck out to me because humans are that greedy for love and attention that they would go to have someone killed just because they don’t like them. Another thing that stuck out to me was that they were angry that they didn’t sell the oil for 300 days of wages. Then Jesus said that there will always be poor but there won’t always be me. The poor being a thing is still present today. But Jesus says that there will not always be me I’m kind of confused by this because isn’t Jesus with us spiritually all the time.
“what was present in history is now present in mystery“ I chose this from the scripture reflection because what I think it is saying is like it happened then but now it is about faith. Right now our relationship with Jesus is all about our faith. We have to figure out how he speaks to us and follow his path.
In scripture today, we hear about how Jesus told Mary not to sell the perfume, but to save it for his burial. This is foreshadowing His death. He tells them that they will always have the poor, but that He will not always be with Him. Then, after the people gathered to see Jesus and Lazarus, they not only wanted to kill Jesus but Lazarus too.
When it tells of the chief priests plotting to kill Lazarus because people were following Jesus because of him, it shows us what the greediest people will do to stay in power. People will kill, destroy, and do many other horrible things to keep power because with power comes status, status comes wealth, and wealth comes the greed for more.
Today Jesus is telling me to push through this Holy Week. This week Jesus wants us all to grow as close as we can with Him before Easter. We are like Judas, we can’t blame Judas for betraying Jesus because what would you do with your life on the line? We can desire to give up our life to Jesus so when we are asked the question of Do you know this man? we can say Yes. We can grow closer to Jesus so that when we are put in that position we can truly say “Yes, this is my Lord.”
Then Judas the Iscariot, one [of] his disciples, and the one who would betray him, said, “Why was this oil not sold for three hundred days’ wages and given to the poor?” We know That Judas turned out to be a bad guy but the other apostles probably didn’t think that Judas would have betrayed Jesus. Someone could act like they were going to do something good but in reality they are only saying that so people would think that they are a good person. Just like Judas was probably going to sell the oil and keep money for himself. You might think someone is a great trustworthy friend but who knows they could be just like Judas (though that’s unlikely).
I think that God is trying to tell me that I need to not think that the richer you are the more God sees you as, God sees us all the same no matter if we are rich or poor. We are all his children and he will and always will love us all the same. No matter if we are rich or poor.
Go to Mass we need to do this to grow closer to God and the closer we get to him the closer we are to heaven that is what i got from the Gospel
Jesus gave everything for us. Even when we turned away, he was still there for us, and still is. He loves us completly and fully. All he asks is for us to do the same. He loves us, and will always be there. Judas couldn’t take in the thought of loving Jesus and following him with everything he had, so he ran away and handed him over. Don’t be like Judas. Don’t be worried about what you might lose, because when you follow Jesus, you gain so much more.
In these scriptures Jesus visits Lazareth and stays there. We learn that the Jews want to kill Lazareth because the Jews are starting to believe in God because of him. We need to be like the Jews who believe we need to trust our God.
I feel like in today’s scripture Jesus is telling us to give of ourselves and take care of others like how Martha took care of Jesus. I also feel like Jesus was telling us that we all will die someday and that we have to prepare ourselves for our death like how Martha was “preparing” Jesus’ body for burial when she anointed his feet. We can prepare ourselves by praying and going to mass and giving our whole life to Jesus.
We need to be closer to God. We should pray to God for he is almighty. The closer we are to him the more holy we are. We should not focus on earthly things. Do not fall into sin for we will have a hard time getting out of it. We will keep coming back to it, making it harder to stop.
“She didn’t care as much about the acts, but the money so she could have more stuff. When she repents and follows Jesus, she recognizes “stuff” doesn’t matter.” This really stuck out to me because we might want fame or money or toys, electronics, or just things on earth in general. We push away what’s most important to us to try to get physical things in our life. But in the end none of that matters at all. No matter how famous you are or how much money you have none of that will matter when we are face to face with Christ. the physical things we have on earth we can’t bring to heaven. So instead of worrying about stuff on earth we need to put all trust and faith in the Lord.
In these scriptures Jesus visits Lazareth and stays there. We learn that the Jews want to kill Lazareth because the Jews are starting to believe in God because of him. We need to be like the Jews who believe we need to trust our God. 🙂
A part that stuck out to me was when Judas said “Why was this oil not sold for three hundred days’ wages
and given to the poor?”. Which I think is telling us how some people may seem like what there doing is for others but really its for themselves and there trying to look like good people.
We need to be closer to God. We should always pray to God for he is almighty. The closer we are to him the more holy we are. We should not focus on earthly things. Do not fall into sin for we will have a hard time getting out of it. We will keep coming back to it, making it harder to stop.
Your eyes will always be set on heaven and not things of the earth. You will desire to pray without ceasing. The saints were all transformed at the foot of the cross. You could start now and build a life that will lead you to God’s glory and love. The amount of stuff Mary has given up to help Jesus Christ.I would like to have the faith to do such a thing that Mary did for Jesus Christ.
In today’s scripture I think Jesus is telling me that I need to praise him. He isn’t always going to be around and eventually I am going to be in eternal life with him or be completely separate from him. I think he is trying to show me that without him in my life it’s not going to be good or pleasant.
Jesus is trying to give us some of his advice while he was on Earth. He is also trying to tell us to spend more time with him and your family because you never know when your time is up on this earth. Jesus will listen to you but he can only listen if we let him.
In today’s scripture Jesus shows us that for our sins he must go through lost of suffering and that it was our doing for this but he does indeed forgive us for all we have done and we must praise and worship him since he is the reason we will have eternal life with God in Heaven and that he is the great one that came to save everyone from their sins you just have to believe.
Jesus is worth it Jesus saved us it may be troubling but take some time to honor him, help anyone with something,
help your parents with a chore or something around the house. do tiny things to earn big things.
In today’s gospel Jesus has hinted that he will not be with the disciples for very long. Mary is washing Jesus’ feet and Judas says that the oil should be used for the poor. Jesus says to keep the oil for the day of his burial because the poor will always be there but he will not. The high priests are very angry at Jesus because more Jews are following him and they want to kill him and Lazarus.
Jesus wasn’t going to be on the earth forever. Mary recognized that and she wanted to give him all the honor she could. So she poured oil on his feet. Judas got angry because he was greedy and wanted money. We need to stay away from that mindset that Judas had and be like Mary.
“You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” This stuck out to me, because Jesus is telling us that we will always have humans with us; other sinners and beggers and the poor, but we only have Jesus; the Son of God, for a little while, and we need to give Him our best. Our best gifts, best effort, best things we can give.
Jesus is trying to say that we have the poor but we don’t have him. Earth is as corrupt place because of money, power, and possessions, it’s all just a waste. We probably won’t have it in the end. Heaven on the other hand is like a palace, kingdom, or something remarkably well and beautiful. All of us have a desire for something beautiful and perfect. God’s kingdom is perfect. Sin is the thing that hurts God. What we do on earth is what we do in Heaven. Either it painfully hurts, or mentally hurts God. It ruins our relationship. We like to have something as a distractions like screens or anything to make us happy. God makes us happy because he bought us eternal life. It’s what we were called to live for. Most poor people always say I need this and I need that. When do we get to the point that I want this and I want that, and only need God. He will let us eat blessed bread, his graceful water. It’s what we desire, what we have on earth does nothing with faith. Except for Bible and prayer cards, those help us get closer to God. But other stuff gets us away from God. We should not need distractions, But need God and everything to get closer to him in heaven, to your fathers house. That’s the fathers will for us.
Jesus wasn’t going to be on the earth forever. Mary recognized that and she wanted to give him all the honor she could. So she poured oil on his feet. Judas got angry because he was greedy and wanted money. We need to stay away from that mindset that Judas had and be more like Mary.
Jesus suffered and died for us and for our sins and yet we still keep on sinning. Jesus spent his last days with the people he loved most and he was suffering for them and for any other sinners. Jesus died and suffered for us and when we keep on sinning it hurts him even more.
In todays scripture it says that Jesus will always be here for us. Jesus is trying to tell us that we need to make the most of our time, and we need to pray and preach the Gospel before its to late. Jesus will listen to us but He can only listen if we let Him. We should take our time to pray. Jesus is there with us, there is no rush he will listen.
in this scripture reflection we learn the passion of Christ and what Jesus went through. Every Friday we go to the stations and we learn what Jesus went through to save us from our sins. We often give up on things that are just too hard for us to do like sports homework and other stuff. but Jesus always got up and went on when carrying the cross.
Allow God to love you, it is His greatest desire. Allow Him to love you. You can’t tell Him to love you. You have to let Him love you. I have never really thought of it that way. You have a will. You get to choose if you want to let him love you. You don’t have to but you really should. God gave us free will to choose from right to wrong. We can be a follower of God or not. Some right choices are big and some are small. That is the same for doing wrong. You still have to pray and read the Gospel and all of that to get closer to God. God still will love you if you don’t pray and do all of that but you won’t be close to God. You will be far from God.
In today’s scripture talks about how God is suffering for us when he died on the cross for us and ever day. he died for your sins and so that you can be here. God will always love you because he created you. without him would not be her.
So this shows that we can get up and keep on going.
In today’s scripture it told me how Jesus died then resurrected. He did that for us, we need to go to mass everyday of the holy week. We need to go to mass every Sunday of the whole year because every Sunday is like a mini-Easter, it is to remember his resurrection.
I think God is trying to tell us that our time to believe in Him and choose Him over sin is finite. We do not have forever to decide for all we know we could die today at school and we may not go to Heaven because we did not choose Him over sin
“Jesus decides to spend some of His last days with those closest to Him while on earth.”
We should always want to spend time with Jesus, like he did with his friends. Because we never know when God will call us home. It could be in 70 years or it could be in 7 minutes. We should always yearn to spend time with Jesus
in this scripture reflection I was reminded that yes we do celebrate Easter for because God rose from the dead, but also to remember that He sacraficed Himself so that when I die i can spend eternity with Him in eternal happyness in Heaven.
His mission of dying for our sins. I don’t think that anybody will die for us but Jesus already did He died for us and saved us. He is our Savoir. He has been loving us since we were created and He won’t stop loving us even if we turn Him down He will continue His love for us until we return to Him. Jesus has a special place in His heart for us let us have a special place for Him in ours.
In the world that we live in, we are vessels to God to spread his word and help those that need help. Although God is not physically present on earth, he uses us to spread his word and get others that do not believe or are unsure or even are just in a bad spot in life to turn to him
In the scripture it’s saying that we are called to serve others and help them. We need to help people when they need it and not just ignore them because we don’t want to help. Just like when Jesus washed the disciples feet he was helping them. God cares and loves for everyone so we need to care for people too.
“You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” Once again Jesus prophesies his death. but he is still with us. the poor is always there. right in front of us, but how many of us ignore them? the poor is in front of us and we should care for them because Jesus asks us to.
in todays gospel we see Jesus show his human side as he spends his last few days with the people he seems are his closest friends and as I read that I thought that this week is when we should be spending time in prayer with the people we love and to pray for them and not to think about ourselves like Jesus did when he sacrificed himself for all of us
Is Jesus really the center of your life? It’s a question we’ve most likely all been faced with. You probably said yes, but is He really. Having Jesus the center of your life isn’t exactly what everyone thinks it is, it is always doing the right thing, whenever you slip up and sin going to confession as soon as possible, is He really.
the thing that stuck out to me was “Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil made from genuine aromatic nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair” this stuck out to me because it shows that was should serve everyone even our enemies and treat them with respect.
One of my favorite lines from a song is “There isn’t a U-Haul you can take to the clouds’ ‘ . It’s true the things in this world were made to distract us from what really matters like prayer and getting to know God. But also spending time with your family doing something outside. We get so attached to our things that we can’t imagine life without them. Think of it like a scale: does Jesus or your worldly possessions have greater value to you?
We need to go to mass every Sunday and make it a priority.
In today’s Gospel Jesus goes to the house of Lazarus, His friend and the man He rose from the dead. Martha who was living with Lazarus anointed Jesus’ head with oil. Judas Iscariot tries to make the woman feel bad and tells her that the oil she just used could’ve been sold for 300 days wages and then given to the poor. Judas being the man he is knows that if that money was given to “the poor” it would really be him stealing the money from them and getting it all for himself. Jesus then turns to Judas and says that you will always have the poor but you won’t always have Me. Foreshadowing His death which was going to happen very soon. Another thing that caught my attention was how at the end of the Gospel it says that the high priests were planning on killing Lazarus as well, because people started to follow Jesus because of him.
as we get older we always tend to enable ourselves more and more when it comes to our sin an making it lees of a deal. and normalizing it but we need to go to God instead.
what stuck out to me was that they plotted to kill Lazarus too, for this never really comes up. they kill Jesus, and he is the main story but Lazarus is not mentioned past being raised from the dead.
What stuck out to me is that he chose to spend his last days with friends and family just like any ordinary human would do. Its comforting to know that in some ways he was just like us.
I think the gospel today was how Jesus knew he was going to die but he didn’t do anything to stop he just prayed. By his friends and followers. Most people would panic and try to stop their death if they knew they were going to die soon but Jesus knew what he had to do.
Jesus has wanted us to be with Him since birth. He loves us so much but yet we betray Him everyday. When we do that He still loves us no matter what.
This is saying that we can’t be greedy and take money over God. Money might provide temporary satisfaction, but it won’t fulfill you and it won’t take you to Heaven, like God will.
In this passage Jesus is about to go through his passion and find out the struggles and pains of his life. Mary goes and anoints Jesus’s feet with oil and Judas says why not sell this oil. We are preparing Jesus for death and we should become attended to Holy Week and the Passion of Jesus.
“I formed you, and set you as a covenant of the people, a light for the nations, To open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confinement, and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.” This stuck out to me because hes telling us that he made everyone with a different purpose. He made everyone in his image and we are special in different ways.
We should be taking Holy Week seriously. This is the week Jesus dies for us to save us from our sin. He spends time with the people he cares about and gives them advice. Advice most could stand to listen to and take it seriously.
Let her keep this for the day of my burial.
You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”
Mary left her old ways and turned towards Jesus. When Judas questioned her Jesus said,”Leave her alone.
Let her keep this for the day of my burial.
You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”
He knew he was going to die for the things he had done, and because people didn’t believe the things he had said. Even though they killed him for it he still forgave him. On the cross he even said, “Forgive them Father for they do not know what they have done.”
“He said this not because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief and held the money bag and used to steal the contributions.” This part stuck out to me because Judas is representing us and how we use God. God always forgives us and gives us mercy but in return we sin again. Mary took perfumed oil and used it to clean Jesus’s feet. She could have sold It for money or just kept it for her self but instead she used it on Jesus. We need to do this more in our lives, and not be greedy. We have so much and we need to learn to share even our most prized possessions.
When Jesus died for us, he was killed in one of the most painful ways imaginable. Dehydration, lashings, the crown of thorns, he let himself suffer more than we can possibly imagine so that we could experience heaven. At any moment, he could have ended all life on earth and other planets in an instant. He loves us beyond comprehensibility.
In this Gospel is saying that there will always be people in need. Jesus says He will not always be here but the poor and needy will. Jesus tells us to help the needy and poor. He tells us that we can help them and that we should always cling to Him and choose Him above all else.
In todays Gospel the Chief priests plot to kill lazarus just because he came back from the dead and people started believing in the Christ, this shows how scared they were, they thought that they were going to lose their roles, that people will reject them because they don’t teach what Jesus teaches. They were scared and that fear took over them, we can;t let that happen to us. God is more powerful than our fears, he wants to help you, you just have to invite him into your life
Holy week is a great time to start to put distractions aside and really focus of Jesus. We need to spend time with him and praise him for all he has done for us. He will take all of our worries and problems away if we just pray with him and ask. We tend to take advantage of all he has done for us and all the suffering he went through. We have to thank him with our time and praise.
What stuck out to me was “The chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too, because many of the Jews were turning away and believing in Jesus because of him.” This stuck out to me because I think that chief priests were jealous of Jesus. I think they were jealous of the power that Jesus had and didn’t want to believe because their position of the highest would be moved to someone else. I think that Jesus was trying to tell me not to be jealous of what other people have or be afraid of what people might take away from you.
have you ever wondered why people do things for you or help you out in a matter of time? Or when people tell you, that they can do it so you can relax or take the blame? That is what Mary did to Jesus when she washed his feet. She knew who he was to her so she sacrificed her good and expensive cleanser to Jesus.
What Jesus wanted us to see is that not everything is life is about money. We can clearly see that all Judas wanted was the money. He didn’t want to give it to the poor but with that said. How many times a day do we criticize people for what they have whether it’s really expensive and really cheap. You can never get away with anything related to money except when talking to Jesus. Jesus doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor. All he cares about is you. Who you are, who you are becoming, and what choices you make. So don’t criticize people for how much money they have because you’re really the only person who cares about that. Also Jesus doesn’t care so why would you.
Today’s Gospel passage shows that any sins can be forgiven. This doesn’t mean that these sins are okay to do, it just means that we can try to do better. If we really want to have a fresh start and try to love God more by going to confession, it shows that we want to do our best. Doing things like praying for forgiveness, going to reconciliation, and going to Church daily are good ways to bring ourselves closer to God and to cleanse us more from our sins.
“You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” Jesus should be the center of our life and we should love him more than anything else. Jesus came to this world and chose to be born into a poor family. He helped the poor and he taught his disciples to live a life of the poor. We must always treat others how we would treat Jesus and give up everything to follow him.
we should take care of people who need it. Jesus died for us and loves us.
“Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil
made from genuine aromatic nard
and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair;”
We are all called to serve, each other and the Lord. No matter what we have done we are all the same.
You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”
I think what Jesus is saying in this scripture is that we have the stuff
that doesn’t matter but we won’t have Jesus in our hearts.
People will need help that is true there is no changing it it depends on how you treat them And weather or not you are respectful.
We need to pray and take it seriously. We need to find a quiet place, relax and talk to God.
“Your eyes will always be set on heaven and not things of the earth. You will desire to pray without ceasing. The saints were all transformed at the foot of the cross. Allow God to love you, it is His greatest desire.” This message in the scripture stuck out to me because it means a lot and really speak the truth.
Mary wanted to praise the Lord more than anything. she every poor a bottle of oil on him even if it was worth a lot.
“Before our death, we will want to leave our best advice behind to our family members.” This stuck out to me because the last words we leave to our love ones before we die are the words that they will remember and cherish forever..w.f
This scripture is telling me that God made us so that we can follow him and preach about Him to others.
In the Gospel one thing that stuck out to me was that Jesus told Judas, “You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” That specific line caught my eye because it is truthful and about how Jesus is always there for us.
We must cherish every Sunday like it is a mini-Easter. Adoration is a beautiful thing where we can go to worship God. Adoration is key to remembering our purpose. We need to keep our eyes on God and going to heaven.
Today Jesus is telling me to push through this Holy Week. This week Jesus wants us all to grow as close as we can with Him before Easter. We are like Judas, we can’t blame Judas for betraying Jesus because what would you do with your life on the line? Another part was “His Words are very important and should be taken to heart.” This also stuck out to me because it is saying we need to listen and we need to think about what God calls us to do.
In today’s gospel Jesus had visited larurus who he had raised from the dead. I read the story and thought that Judas was being really rude to the women instead of respecting her and he shouldn’t talk he was a thief.
“You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” We may always have our friends and peers by our side but we may not always have Jesus by our side. We need to accept him and his Grace into our hearts, for he is our savior. I also got that life isn’t about money, but God, Jesus, and heaven
“Your eyes will always be set on heaven and not things of the earth.”
I think that this means to focus more on Jesus and what he has done to us and not be so focused on your sports and other things. You need to focus on what is in your future and what is planned out for you and how you will live it. He’s always there so if you have a question for him, din’t be afraid to ask.
God is telling us that even Jesus was human. The last few days before the crucifixion, Jesus spent time with his best friends: Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. I think everyone would also spend time with their loved ones before they die. Jesus will always be with us even in bad situations. Jesus loves every one of us, even if we are really bad sinners. “LEAVE HER ALONE. LET HER KEEP THIS FOR THE DAY OF MY BURIAL. YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH YOU, BUT YOU DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE ME.” I love this quote because Jesus loves everyone.
The Gospel today is where Mary washed the feet of Jesus with perfumed oil and then dried the feet of Jesus with her hair. I couldn’t imagine doing that. She was a prostitue and sinner, who didn’t care about her actions. When she found Jesus, she adored him, so much that she gave up and entire years wages to buy perfumed oil to pour on Jesus’ feet and uses her very own hair to dry his hair.
Something that stuck out to me was since Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, many started to follow him and believe in him. Even though it might be hard to follow Jesus without any connection like Him answering your prayers there is many things in the Bible (like raising Lazarus up from the dead) is a way to believe in Jesus. We just need to trust in Him.
What stuck out to me in the scripture was “Before our death, we will want to leave our best advice behind to our family members.” I think this means that before we leave we should be a role model for our family members.
Jesus spent his last and final days with his friends and family. I think he’s trying to tell us to spend the most time with them because you never know when your time is up. Jesus loved the world so much he died for us.
“Pray. Ask Jesus to reveal His heart to you during this Holy Week.” When Jesus says this he’s saying even if your going through a hard time talk to jesus and he can help you get through what your going through. And when he said reveal his heart to you that means let him talk to you.
“Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil made from genuine aromatic nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair” This stuck out to me because the oil was worth a lot of money and she still decided to spend most of her money on Jesus because she knew Jesus meant more than money. This is a good lesson for all of us, Money or fame does not matter on judgment day, God cares how much we gave to him.
I really like how this gospel can fit so much in so little. What He is saying is that there is always someone in need so we need to help them no matter what it could cost to us.
Jesus doesn’t care about the money he cares about the time you spend with him and family.
What I get from this is that Jesus spent His last days in Holy week with the people that He either loved or was friends with.We need to spend our time with Jesus not just if we our reaching out final days but everyday because we never know when our last day will be.
In today’s scripture reflection Jesus died for our sins but yet we still sin everyday. Jesus died and when he was dying he was with the people he loved most.
mary gave up a whole years worth of work and pay to be able to pour out a perfume on Jesus’s feet. That’s how much I want to be like closer to God.
